Chapter 1: Assignment

Chapter Text

“So, what do you think of the applicants?”

In front of a blindingly bright laptop were Aizawa Shota and Yamada Hizashi. It was 3:27 AM and the Pro Hero, Present Mic was insanely bored. The only smart decision to make was to annoy his friend, Eraserhead. Aizawa had previously lost the battle of choosing the laptop brightness, so he squinted at the screen. Hizashi rested his arm on Aizawa’s seat and made some comments to some kids as they scrolled through the website of applications for UA. Colorful hair and various quirks made everyone different from each other. Aizawa rested his cheek on his hand, feeling his eyelids drift close

Aizawa hummed. “They look like... troublemakers. Promising though.” he muttered, lazily.

“Pshh! You think everyone is a troublemaker!!” Hizashi punches Aizawa’s arm softly. ”Applications are still coming in right?”

“Yeah.”

“Who do you think will place first?”

“Hizashi, Let’s not place bets on children.” The reason for Aizawa’s denial to Hizashi’s game is because the previous time they played, Hizashi kept switching answers and when the first place was one of the swapped answers he picked, he considered it his win. As a result, Aizawa lost money.

“C’mon!! It’ll be fun!!!” No, it won’t.

“Ugh, Can you stop being so loud? It hurts my eardrums” Aizawa muttered.

“Stop being loud? Shota, my whole quirk is being loud.” Present Mic chuckled with a shit-eating grin.

Aizawa rolled his eyes. “Yeah, Yeah.”

“It’s on February 26th, right?”

Aizawa looked up at him from his seat. “The entrance exam? Yeah, it’s in a week.” A few seconds pass. “Can’t you research this on your own? Why are you asking me?”

“Uhhh… Because you’re next to me?” Aizawa blinked. Hizashi blinked back.

Aizawa let out a long sigh. Maybe he’ll quit being a teacher. ‘Wait. Why am I a teacher? Aren’t I a Pro Hero? Oh, that’s right. I was forced to be a teacher! Now I suffer every ten months of the year. Probably more.’ Aizawa let out another sigh. Hizashi looked at him strangely. To him, it looked like Aizawa had just sighed two times within 27 seconds(which is a new record). Hizashi secretly keeps track of how many times Aizawa sighed within a certain amount of time. One day he’ll tell Aizawa his results, though.

“Hey! Is that Endeavor’s son applying?!” Hizashi exclaimed, pointing at the distinctive half-red-half-white hair on the screen. No surprise there. Of course, the No.2 Hero’s son is going to apply to the prestigious UA High.

“What a shocker.” Aizawa deadpanned, sarcasm as clear as glass. Aizawa stared at Hizashi with large, dark eye bags. Poor man needed a break. “Can you get out of my house now?”

“Fine, but I’m coming back tomorrow to annoy you!” Hizashi said, grinning. He waved goodbye as he exited the door. He also didn’t close the door so Aizawa had to get up, walk to the door, and close it. He was so exhausted, that he considered leaving the door open. Unfortunately, the world is full of horrible people.

With glass windows that covered every inch of the room, the sun rose with a blinding effect. Staring out the window was Mori, a revolting, vulgar man, who could sacrifice anything if it helped him achieve what he wanted with no remorse. Mori enjoyed having power. Having everything under his control was one of his favorite things. Uncertainty was frowned upon. He liked things being efficient and without fail. Anyone who isn’t of use will be forced into use by Mori. Said usefulness is death. Bait, testing, suicide missions, Mori can bring out results from the most useless person alive.

“How unfortunate. Right Elise-Chan~?” Mori spoke to a blonde girl behind him.

The young girl who is roughly ten years old was drawing quite the gore. Of course, it looks like it was drawn by a six-year-old. It was a boy being ripped apart in shreds. Elise is definitely running out of red from how much she uses it. “Ugh! This shouldn’t be our problem, Rintarou! We should just let those Heroes clean up the mess! It’s their job isn’t it!” Elise pouted, continuing her drawing.

“Oh, but Elise! The problem will only grow with time! It’s best to cut the corrupted plant at the roots before it infects everything else. Besides, it’s not like those naive pests are capable enough. Hmm. Now who should I pick for this mission...”

“If this guy is sooo strong, then why don’t you just send that one guy?”

“Oh, Elise~ You’re so smart~!” Mori gave a bone-chilling grin, with ice-cold eyes. “To stop that overpowered flesh bag, we should send █████!”

Elise pouted and folded her arms. “Rintarou, I want ice cream!”

“After I make this call, but too much sweets isn’t good for you, Elise!” Mori said, pulling out his phone.

An arm came bursting through a stomach, ripping through the spine. Extracting the arm out of the body, the corpse dropped with a thud. Blood splattered everywhere. KO flashed on the screen.

“Nnnnnrgh…. Fuck you, Dazai!” A loud voice echoed through the arcade.

“Chuuya’s so bad at this game~ But, it only makes sense. A small body like yours can only fit a small brain~” Dazai smirked.

Chuuya jumped out of his seat and slammed his foot on the machine. “Shut up, you piece of shit! I’m still growing!” he growled. “I hope you live until you’re ninety!!” he yelled, pointing at Dazai.

Dazai gave a loud, dramatic gasp. “Take that back, now!”

“I hope that it’s unbearable and shitty!! Just like you!” People nearby stared at the commotion.

With a smug grin, Dazai stared right into Chuuya’s eyes and said “If I’m living til’ ninety, then that means Chuuya’s gonna be my dog for seventy-three more years!”

“Shut the fuck up! I’m not your dog!” More eyes were laid on them.

“And just like a dog, you’re barking at me! The similarities are uncanny!”, Dazai laughed, uncontrollably. “W-wait! Stop making me laugh! I …can’t breathe!” Dazai cachinnated in between words.

Before Chuuya could bark argue back, a ringing came from his phone. Giving Dazai one last glare, he turned around and reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. It was Mori.

“Ew, Mori.” Dazai said over Chuuya’s shoulder, glancing at his phone.

“Holy shit!” Chuuya jumped, then backed away. “Stop doing that!”, he said, accepting the call and holding the phone to his ear. “..Hello?”

“Hello, Chuuya-kun. Come to my office.”

“Okay..”

“Don’t make me wait.” Chuuya shivered at the tone, as the the call ended. Mori knows how to instill fear in his subordinates. Just like Dazai. Chuuya flipped his phone close.

Being called to Mori’s office only meant a few things. An important mission was being assigned or you were to be executed for treason. Chuuya prayed it wasn’t the latter. Most of the crucial missions that Chuuya had were done with Dazai, and since Dazai wasn’t summoned to Mori’s office, Chuuya’s thoughts were a mess. ‘I haven’t done anything wrong… Have I? I was late to some appointments… But that was mostly Dazai’s fault! Is Mori going to kill me for that? No.. being late couldn’t possibly anger Mori this much. But Mori can be… psychotic…‘

“What did Mori say?” Dazai spoke up, from behind, breaking Chuuya out of his thoughts. Chuuya took a sharp breath and turned his head towards Dazai.

“…I’m going to Mori’s office.”

“Hmm.. Alright! Don’t get lost on your way there, Slug~! The world is a little too big for your size~” Dazai grinned.

There. That fake smile. Chuuya loathed it. He wished Dazai wasn’t so.. in his head. That wasn’t possible though. Dazai was never genuine with his words and expressions. He can’t be capable of doing so. Can you imagine that? The Demon Prodigy? Being genuine? Chuuya could laugh at that for hours. There was no such thing as a true side of The Demon Prodigy. Every personality he has is a made-up person. Chuuya was sure of it.

Ignoring Dazai’s remark, Chuuya left the arcade and started traveling to Mori’s office with haste. Dazai watches as Chuuya exits. He exhales and sits next to the claw machine.

‘Hmm… What are you planning, Mori?’

-

The doors of Mori’s room creaked open loudly and slowly. Chuuya peaks his head into the room. There, Mori sits at his desk and glances up to check who entered the room. With a racing heart, Chuuya struggled to speak. “...You called, Mori-san?”, he spoke, quietly, walking to Mori’s desk with more hesitation with each step. The clicking of Chuuya’s shoes echoed through the room.

Mori was writing documents while Elise was on the floor, drawing a disturbing image: someone stabbed repeatedly. “Ah! Chuuya-kun~! How have you been doing?”

Cautiously, Chuuya responds. “I’ve been fine.”

“You seem to have a lot of free time, huh? You’ve been at the arcade a lot.” Mori rests his chin in his hand.

You have an infiltration mission that starts in a week!”, he said, putting his pen down with a smile.

Chuuya felt a wave of relief wash over him, knowing that he wasn’t in trouble. He exhaled quietly. “What’s the catch?”

Mori chuckled. “Catch? What do you mean?” Mori intertwined his fingers, with a glint in his eyes.

“An undercover mission without Dazai sounds too good to be true.” And it was. Chuuya tends to charge in head first and Dazai prevents him from doing so. Chuuya had plenty of missions without Dazai, but his infiltrations have never been alone.

“Now, now, Chuuya-kun. Watch your tone. I recall that I was the Port Mafia Boss. You don’t have the power to question my decisions.”

‘Crap.’ Hanging out with Dazai was not helping Chuuya’s anger issues. “Sorry…”, Chuuya muttered, head down. After some thought, Chuuya added: “..Boss.”

“I’ll let it slide this time. Remember where you stand.” And like a flick of a switch, his personality flipped. “But! You are right~! There is a catch! You’ll be attending UA High in Musutafu~!” Mori cocks his head and smiles cheerfully.

“Wh-“ Chuuya snapped his mouth shut, remembering the discussion that was seconds ago. Rethinking his decisions, he spoke again. “The hero school?”

“Yup! You agree, right? Dazai isn’t fit for a hero society.” Even though Chuuya felt a strange need to defend, he agreed deep down. “Don’t use your full potential. You wouldn’t want to get caught being an ability user~ Have restrictions to your power.” Mori smirked. “The end goal is All For One’s defeat. All the details are in the envelope~” Mori pushed the tan envelope forward. Chuuya walked up and took it.

“Thank you, Mori-san. It will be completed.” Chuuya bowed and opened the door.

Before Chuuya could exit, Mori spoke up again. “Chuuya.”, he said in a serious tone. Chuuya turned around. “You aren’t to inform Dazai of this mission. He will only distract you. He brings out the worst in you after all. You guys can’t seem to get along.” Chuuya disagreed. They wouldn’t be called “Double Black” if they weren’t compatible. Chuuya isn’t stupid. Mori is hiding something. ‘Why wouldn’t Mori want Dazai to come?’

“Yes.” Chuuya said, turned back, and closed the door.

-

As soon as Chuuya came home, he opened up the envelope with the mission details.

MISSION ASSIGNMENT

Assigned to: Nakahara Chuuya

Mission length: 1-2 years

Objective: End of All for One

Additional information: All For One has the power to take other people’s quirks. He can use them all with no consequences and he can also give them to others. It does not work on abilities, for abilities originate from the soul

The envelope had a fake ID, birth certificate, and lots of papers. Reading the birth certificate, he found something to hate. “I’m supposed to act fifteen!?!” he exclaimed. ‘Maybe Boss was right. If Dazai knew about this, I might’ve killed him. Ugh, I can already imagine what he’ll say.’

“Chuuya’s going undercover as a fifteen-year-old? You sure look the part~!” Imaginary Dazai cackled at the sight.

“Tch! Shut up, Imaginary Dazai. Good thing you’re not actually here.” ‘Boss didn't even provide me with a story in case someone asks!’

Chuuya the aspiring hero’s backstory is that he was born in France and noticed how hero society had corrupted heroes that were in for fame. To stop more corrupt people, he will become the ideal hero. A great role model that shows that being a hero isn’t about fame and money. Using his ability quirk, he will stop not only villains but arrogant heroes as well.

The backstory seemed like a cliche, but that’s almost every hero’s life. Chuuya continued skimming through the pages but his eye caught something. The duration of the mission.

“1-2 years?!?! What is this bullshit!?” Chuuya slammed his fists into the table and then his head. “Pretending to be a hero and limiting my ability… for more than a year?!” Chuuya disliked limiting himself. It made him feel weak and not worth much. Not to mention, Chuuya is extremely competitive. Chuuya raged and abused his table for 10 minutes. After coming back from the hardware store with a new table, Chuuya continued reading the mission description. Chuuya is going to have such a great time.

Chapter 2: Dazai

Summary:

Dazai does his daily routine of breaking into Chuuya’s apartment

Chapter Text

In a bar full of memories, sat two men. The aroma of alcohol filled the air as another shot was poured. Jazz music plays elegantly through the radio.

“Ugh, the slug isn’t picking up!! Odasaku, should I break into his apartment?”

Sakunosuke Oda sighed and took a sip from his glass. “Dazai, why are you doing this to your colleague?”

Dazai spins 450° to face Oda. “Ew, don’t call that hatrack my colleague. He’s a dog at best.” Dazai folded his arms and turned his head. “And! This dog isn’t telling me what happened!”

“What happened?”

“That’s what I want to know!! The simpleton was sent to Mori! He isn’t dead, which means he got a mission! But he isn’t talking to me! He needs lessons on how to be a proper dog!” Dazai pouts.

Oda finishes his glass and considers asking for another. While he cared for Dazai, he wasn’t enjoying Dazai’s endless rants about Chuuya. He inhaled, then exhaled. “Breaking into Nakahara’s apartment is not the solution.”

“I agree.” Another voice entered the conversation. Footsteps clicked down the stairs, as the wood creaked.

“Hi, Ango!” Dazai waved, spinning his stool so that he faced the stairs.

“Tomato juice for me.”, he told the barkeeper. “I’m not sure what you guys are talking about, but breaking into apartments is not the best decision.” Ango looked directly at Dazai. Dazai was definitely offended.

“In this case-“ Oda gave Dazai a look and Dazai stopped his sentence. “Hmph! You guys can’t tell me what to do!” Dazai quickly downed his drink and bolted out the door.

“…So, whose house is he breaking into?” Ango asked as the barkeeper served Ango’s tomato juice.

-

Dashing to Chuuya’s apartment, he notices that Chuuya had more locks than previously. Grinning at the fact, Dazai pulls out his backup paper clip for lock picking. One by one, the locks opened up.“Eh?! Dazai!?!? What are you doing here?!” Chuuya screamed, scrambling to clear the mission details out of sight.

Click! Chuuya’s door flew open. “Chuuya! You’re such a disobedient dog!”

“Dammit, Stop picking at my lock!! Why are you here?” He stuffed the papers into the drawer in his room.

“The hatrack keeps ignoring me. And what are you doing being all cooped up in your home? You’ve been here since Mori called you. That’s three whole days!”

“There’s nothing wrong with me staying home for three days straight! Besides I have work to do.” Chuuya had been studying different types of heroes and specific character traits that made them seem passionate. He decided to pick Thirteen as his favorite hero since his ability is like her quirk when using Corruption.

Dazai let out an exaggerated sigh. “Chuuya’s becoming a hikkikomori. I can’t be seen with such a social misfit.”

“Hah?! Look who’s talking! Ugh. Now that I’ve acknowledged your existence, can you  get out?” They stand in silence for a few minutes. The clock ticked loudly, birds were chirping distractingly outside. Getting impatient, Chuuya speaks up. “Hey-“

“What mission did Mori assign?” Dazai cut off Chuuya. His voice was curious and his face was relaxed. It didn’t suit him, yet it looked so normal. Chuuya couldn’t understand. He could never understand Dazai.

“Who wants to know?” Chuuya sassed.

“Me.” A straightforward response was made by Dazai. Dazai would always give an indirect answer like “I’ll tell you when you’re taller than me” and then, they’ll start bickering. Chuuya knew how to respond to Dazai’s antics. When Dazai does something like this, he’ll blank out and think about how to respond. Sometimes, Chuuya would wonder if Dazai did this on purpose so that Chuuya would freak out. Something about the look in his eye stopped Chuuya from making an obnoxious comment about it. A dark, endless void in Dazai’s eyes, swallowed Chuuya whole. Chuuya shivered, staring too deeply into them. He felt his shoulders tense up and his fists clenched.

“Why should I tell you?”

“Chuuya.”

When encountering an opponent, your choice is fight or flight. Everyone knows the saying “fight or flight”. Chuuya always picked fight. With a strong ability and martial art skills, Chuuya never found a reason to back down. But right now, Chuuya had never wanted to run more. His gut screamed and urged him to leave the vicinity. But he didn’t. Dazai would snoop around his house looking for anything that could give a hint about Chuuya’s whereabouts for the next years. Knowing this, Chuuya has to escape Dazai, while staying home.

“Why do you want to know so bad?” is what Chuuya settled for.

With each passing moment, Chuuya’s heart raced with uncertainty. Had that been the right thing to say?

“Tch!” Dazai turned around and stormed out of Chuuya’s apartment. Chuuya exhaled in relief. He went back to his room, re-read all the important information, and burned the papers. He decided that he was going to buy even more locks.

-

Dazai learned only a few things from that short conversation. One, Chuuya’s mission is something that needs studying for. The studying is probably for backup knowledge in case he gets questioned. Being questioned means that it’s probably an infiltration mission. Chuuya’s irritated yet relaxed mood meant that the mission wasn’t stressful but rather bothersome. Chuuya’s new table meant that he dislikes what he’s been instructed to do. Since this mission was hand-delivered by Mori, it’s something major and can’t be trusted by the subordinates to deliver. Chuuya also resents telling Dazai about it and was probably instructed by Mori. So, with all this in mind, Dazai thinks of what Chuuya’s mission is. One, Chuuya is going undercover as a girl. It would certainly cost a table and Chuuya would never tell Dazai. Two, he’s traveling to another country. Traveling was always annoying to Chuuya. The jet lag made him tired and waiting around in a plane was boring. Three, he’s going undercover as something he dislikes. Yokohama never got involved with the hero society. Their black-and-white morals and the way they view quirks as someone’s worth were annoying. Of course, the more power the better, but in the Port Mafia, ability-less people are still valued. There’s a chance that Chuuya is sent as a fake hero. Out of the endless possibilities, Dazai can’t figure out why Chuuya isn’t allowed to inform Dazai about his mission. He’ll break into Chuuya’s apartment again some other time.

Notes:

Yeesh. Better hope the entrance exams arrive sooner so that Dazai won’t interrogate you again.

Chapter 3: Entrance Exam

Summary:

Chuuya regrets his life choices

Notes:

Chuuya’s nicknames:
Iida - teacher’s pet
Midoriya - nerd/geek/unintentional dazai
Aoyama - sparkle boy
Present Mic - haircut guy

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Chuuya left for Musutafu two days before the entrance exam. His new apartment is approximately three blocks away from UA. Chuuya spent the rest of the two days studying what would be on the written exam. The written exam consisted of 30% math, 30% literature, 20% history, 20% science, and an essay about morals. Those entering the hero course would have to answer additional scenario questions.

Chuuya arrived on the school campus. ‘I’ll never get used to these strange hair colors and extra body parts.’ Entering an auditorium, stood a blonde man with a strange haircut on stage.

“For all you examinee listeners tuning in, welcome to my show today!” Haircut guy yelled. “Everybody say ‘hey’!” he screams in English. Silence never sounded so loud. ‘That must be embarrassing’ Chuuya snickered softly. “What a refined response.” Haircut guy shrugged. “Then I’ll quickly present to you the rundown on the practical exam! Are you ready?! Yeah!!” No one spoke up.

However, there was this one guy muttering to himself and fanboying about the teachers. ‘This guy is definitely a nerd or a geek. I’m gonna be so miserable here’ Chuuya sighed.

“As said on the application requirements, you listeners will be conducting a ten-minute mock urban battle! After the presentation, you’ll head to a specific battle center! Three different types of fake villains are stationed in each battle center. You earn points for each of them based on their difficulty. Your goal is to earn points by immobilizing the faux villains! Of course, attacking other examiners and other unheroic actions are prohibited!” ‘Expected, but still kinda disappointing.’

“May I ask a question?” A loud voice projected out. ‘Well, there goes the streak of staying quiet.’

“Okay!” Haircut guy calls out. A light turns on above the boy and it creates a spotlight effect.

“On the printout, there are four types of villains. If that is a misprint, then UA, the most prominent school in Japan, should be ashamed of that foolish mistake! We examinees are here in this place because we wish to be molded into exemplary heroes. In addition-“ Glasses boy points at the nerd. “You over there with the curly hair! You’ve been muttering this whole time. It’s extremely disrespectful and distracting!” ‘Damn. This guy totally seems like a teacher's pet. He seems like the kinda person who would tell the teacher that they forgot to assign homework. I didn’t even get accepted into the school, and I already want to go back to Yokohama. Screw you, Mori.’

“Okay, okay, Examinee Number 7111. Thanks for the great message.” He gives a thumbs-up to the student. The fourth type of villain is worth zero points. I recommend that you listeners try to avoid it.”

“Thank you very much! Please excuse the interruption!” Glasses boy bows down and then sits back. The light above him turns off. People around mutter about the similarities between the exam and video games.

“That’s all from me! Finally, I’ll give you listeners a present: our school motto! The hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said: ‘A true hero is someone who overcomes life’s misfortunes.’ Go beyond. Plus Ultra! Now everyone, good luck suffering!” ‘Pshh! I don’t need luck for that! I’m already suffering!’

Chuuya’s battle center was B. He saw a familiar nerd and a teacher's pet in his group and dreaded proceeding forward. Everyone chuckled at the sight of the nerd, feeling a bit better about their chances.

“Okay, start! What’s wrong? There are no countdowns in real fights!” Haircut guy screams from a tower. “Run, run! The die has been cast, you know!” The nerd is left behind and instantly at a disadvantage.

Chuuya’s limitations are that he can only increase gravity on his selected target and he can’t change the direction of gravity. He hated it, but it was more believable as a quirk. His first thought is: ‘Who is funding this school so much, that they can build multiple fake cities, solely for the purpose of examining kids??’ As soon as he encounters a 3-point villain, he instantly uses gravity to crush it down. Chuuya is aiming for 8th place out of all the applicants. Too high would bring attention to him but he disliked being less than others. Noticing some kids struggling, decides to help them out(he steals their points). He continues ramming his foot into different robots, hands in his pocket. He achieved 51 points within the first few minutes. At that point, most imitation villains were destroyed.

Crash! ‘Oh shit. It’s that obstacle they were talking about.’  It’s the 0-point villain. Chuuya ran in the direction of destruction. At the sight of the building-sized robot, Chuuya was shocked for a bit. ‘Are they trying to kill these kids?!’ Everyone scrambled away in a hurry, seeing no way they could defeat it.

“Less than two minutes left!!” Chuuya looks around the vicinity. The nerd is in tears and the faux villain punches caused a part of a building to crumble. A brown-haired girl’s leg is caught under a piece of rubble. She grunts in pain and she struggles to move. The zero point continues walking and raises its foot above the girl. As she stares in horror, unable to do anything Chuuya is about to jump in to rescue her, remembering to limit himself, he hesitates. In that moment of hesitation, the geek runs towards the faux villain. Using his quirk, he jumps as high as the robot’s head. His arm glowed with red streaks and his hands clenched into a fist.

“Smash!!!” He screamed, punching the robot with all his might. It made a large dent in the robot’s face, knocking it back. The robot’s body parts started exploding one by one. ‘Impressive for a wimpy-looking kid.’

Chuuya looked up as the kid came falling down. ‘Damn. His arm is purple! I take back what I said about him being impressive. It’s like Dazai doing his suicide attempts but unintentionally.’ Chuuya scoffed. His legs and purple arm dangled in a wiggly way. His bones were severely damaged and probably shattered. Anyone could tell. He screamed as he came down, his left arm clutching onto his right. ‘Ew.. The way his arm flaps as he falls. Hmm. If he dies here could the school possibly get sued for negligence of a child’s wellbeing? Maybe Mori-san will take me out of this mission then. No. He’ll just send me to another school. Dammit.’

Chuuya’s thoughts are cut off as Gravity Girl slaps the nerd and uses her quirk to stop the impact of his fall. “Release.” she utters out. The nerd softly drops to the ground. Gravity girl throws up. ‘Her quirk probably has drawbacks and makes her puke after being overused. Man, it must be tough being weak.’

The clicking of a cane catches Chuuya’s attention. He glances at the source of the sound. An old little granny approaches and gives out a few gummies to some examinees before reaching the nerd. “Oh dear, you were hurt this much by your own quirk?” She gives the nerd a little smooch. It’s Recovery Girl. Chuuya researched about her a few days ago. Her quirk can speed up the process of healing. Since it’s only speeding up the process, it takes up a lot of energy.

“Wh-What was that?!” Someone exclaimed.

“UA High’s licensed school nurse, the Youthful Heroine, Recovery Girl!” Sparkle boy introduced. ‘I’m not seeing much youth, but okay.’ Instantly, the boy’s arm glowed with green, then returned to its original color. His bones retake form and shift back into place. Chuuya stretched and yawned.  ‘Well. That’s the end of the practical exam. Let’s hope I don’t fail the written exam.’

Click! Dazai is back at it again, breaking into Chuuya’s apartment! Upon seeing the empty house, Dazai wonders if Chuuya finally went out after being cooped up for so long. Giving Chuuya’s home a thorough search (and wrecking it) Dazai notices: that Chuuya left his phone on his desk, there is a lack of money in his safe, the food in the cabinets and refrigerator have been tossed, and the windows have been locked. From this, Dazai deduced that Chuuya had already left for his mission. Locking the windows is so that burglars don’t get in (doesn’t stop Dazai though). The fact that he tossed his food means that he’ll be gone for a while. Whether it’s months or years‘But where is he?’ Dazai thinks. Dazai pushes around some furniture for hidden objects that might hint at Chuuya’s whereabouts. With his twig arms, each piece of furniture takes 10 minutes to move. “Oooh~ The slug left behind a little paper!” Chuuya had two types of handwriting. Neat and messy. The neat handwriting was for official purposes and the messy one was to friends and himself. This page was the neatest handwriting Dazai had ever seen and it said:

I ᄃΛП’Ƭ BΣᄂIΣVΣ I ΉΛVΣ ƬӨ ƬӨ ƬΉIƧ ƧƬЦPID FЦᄃKIПG 乃ノイᄃんム丂ん乇のレ. @&$#%£}&$ ██████&#%^███ ÐÌÈ D̶̡͈͇̬̫̼͇͂̚I̶̫͍̤̠̽̃͝Ȇ̷͙̞̳̹̞͆̍̊͑̇͋͊͆̐ ƎI ĐłɆ 丨乇 DIΣ ιє ノ乇 [̲̅D][̲̅I][̲̅E] D҉I҉E҉ įƐ ███ᕲᓰᘿ D̷I̷E̷ D͓̽I͓̽E͓̽ 𝒾𝔼 iē ÐÌÈ D̶̡͈͇̬̫̼͇͂̚I̶̫͍̤̠̽̃͝Ȇ̷͙̞̳̹̞͆̍̊͑̇͋͊͆̐ ƎI ĐłɆ  įƐᕲᓰᘿ D̷I̷E̷ D͓̽I͓̽E͓̽ 𝒾𝔼  DIΣιє りノ乇 [̲̅█D][̲̅I][̲̅E] D҉I҉E҉ D͓̽I͓̽E͓̽𝒾𝔼 ÐÌÈ D̶̡͈͇̬̫̼͇͂̚I̶̫͍̤̠̽̃͝Ȇ̷͙̞̳̹̞͆̍̊͑̇͋͊͆̐ įƐ ᕲᓰI̷E̷ D͓̽I͓̽E͓̽ 𝒾𝔼 iē ÐÌÈ D][̲̅I][̲̅E] I҉E҉ įƐ ᓰᘿ D̷I̷E̷ D̶̡͈͇̬̫̼͇͂̚I̶̫͍̤̠̽̃͝Ȇ̷͙̞̳̹̞͆̍̊͑̇͋͊͆̐ ƎI ĐłɆ 丨乇 DIΣ ∂ιє りノ [̲̅D][̲̅I][̲̅E] D҉I҉E҉ ██įƐ ᓰᘿI̷E̷ D͓̽I͓̽E͓̽ 𝒾𝔼██████

Dazai whistles. “Chuuya had quite the episode here. This mission must be really bad.” The handwriting was actually more messy than Dazai remembered. Unable to read it, Dazai decides to just pocket it and continue his search for clues.

-

The written exam started after everyone was healed up. ‘Dazai could probably get first place in the written.’ Spending most of his life trying to survive, Chuuya didn’t really study and learn about the concepts that school taught. Sure, Kouyou gave him a few lessons, but only things that were essential. Like reading, writing, and the basics of math. Chuuya has spent the previous days speedrunning through all the concepts and techniques. Chuuya was pretty confident that he failed the literacy section of the written exam. He did well in the physics part of science. Mainly because physics was a big part of his ability. Math and history were okay. It wasn’t the best, but it definitely wasn't the worst. Then came the essay about morals. For a mafioso, Chuuya surprisingly had good morals. Well… good morals for someone in the mafia. He valued the lives of each of his subordinates, but he didn’t hesitate to take someone’s life if it was ordered. With a slight advantage compared to the other members of the Port Mafia, Chuuya decided to write about how heroes should value all lives, including villains, and that even though someone may be rotten to the bone with no chance of redemption, that shouldn’t stop us from helping.

Since Chuuya was entering the hero course, he got ten scenario questions. ‘A building is crashing down. What is the first thing you should do?’ Even as a member of the Port Mafia, Chuuya would still save the bystanders who would be crushed. Chuuya saw no reason to let innocent lives go to waste just because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Mori attempted to make Chuuya a little more apathetic but gave up, seeing no change. He reminded Chuuya that he shouldn’t get distracted and that his sympathy would get him killed.

This may be the first time Chuuya has failed a mission. But who can blame him? No one likes exams. Exams are something we can all live without. Chuuya gets back to his new apartment and collapses on his couch. He has yet to buy a bed since he was studying, ever since he realized that there was a written part of the exam. Even though he was sort of glad he wouldn’t need to stay with the heroes, he dreaded the punishment that Mori would give.

A few days later, a letter from UA came in. Chuuya ripped it open with his expectations extremely low. A circular device fell out of the paper and activated itself. A projection formed in Chuuya’s room. “Hello, Nakahara Chuuya!” A blonde man with cockroach antennae said. It was All Might, the number one hero. “You barely passed the written exam, however, your practical exam was excellent! You got a total of 51 villain points on the practical exam! But! The exam wasn’t just off of villain points! There were also… rescue points!!! These points are extremely valued and you got 15 of them!” ‘Really? I don’t remember saving anyone. Unless stealing other people's points count as 'saving'’

“That gives you a total of 66 points, placing you 4th out of all the examinees!” ‘Oh. That’s a little high but at least I’m not first.’ “Congratulations. You’ve been accepted to UA High!!!” ‘Yay…’

Notes:

English is my first language but it still sucks. Also I’m bad at writing and this is practice ig.

Chapter Text

The first day of school is on a Friday, which Chuuya thinks is bullshit. He thinks work should always start at the beginning of the week. Chuuya wakes up bright and early at 8:30 which leaves him a good two minutes to get ready. Definitely not feeling rushed, he threw on his uniform jacket, grabbed the obnoxiously red tie, and decided to put it on when he reached the classroom. Chuuya is definitely not late. He considered using his ability to arrive quicker, but he knew that there would always be someone watching. He dashed towards the school and luckily arrived before class started.

Upon entering, he notices some strange hair colors. Chuuya plopped himself on an empty seat and scanned the classroom while putting on his tie. He spots the teacher’s pet arguing with a blonde spiked-haired kid. The sight of the teacher’s pet already made him dislike his class. When the teacher’s pet notices Chuuya’s entry, he approaches him. “Why are you improperly wearing a prestigious school’s uniform?”

“Uhm… Because I woke up 15-ish minutes ago?” ‘Oh god. Please fuck off.’

“You are disrespecting this school and lowering its reputation! I ask for you to pull up your tie and button your jacket to be more presentable.” ‘Ugh… Get off my ass already.’

Then the unintentional Dazai entered the classroom, looking wimpy as usual. Gravity girl rushes up to him and chats and the teacher’s pet also talks to him. Chuuya thanks the boy in his thoughts for ridding the teacher’s pet for him. Chuuya notices the blonde boy glaring at the unintentional Dazai. ‘Those two definitely have history.’

He also noticed a suspicious big yellow body bag outside the classroom. What made it even more suspicious was when a homeless-looking guy emerged from the bag and stood up in silence. More students notice the strange figure and the room gets quiet.

“Go somewhere else if you want to play at being friends. This is the hero course. It took you approximately eight seconds to stop talking. Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough.” the homeless guy says. “I’m your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Nice to meet you.” Everyone gasps at that fact and Chuuya is 90% sure that it’s because of his lack of care in his appearance.

Aizawa pulls out a blue uniform with white stripes. “It’s kind of sudden, but put this on and go out onto the field.”

-

“A quirk assessment test?!”

“What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?” Gravity girl questions.

“If you’re going to become a hero, you don’t have time for such leisurely events.” Aizawa responds. “UA’s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That’s also how the teachers run their classes. You kids have been doing these since junior high, too, right? Physical fitness tests where you weren’t allowed to use your quirks.” ‘I actually didn’t go to school.’ “The country still uses averages taken from results from students not using their quirks. It’s not rational. Well, the Ministry of Education is procrastinating. Bakugo, you finished at the top of the practical exam, right? In junior high, what was your best result for the softball throw?”

“67 meters.” Spiky hair replies.

“Then, try doing with your quirk. Hurry up. Give it all you’ve got.”

“Die!” Spiky yells while tossing the ball with an explosion. ‘Die? That’s hero-like. His quirk is probably creating explosions. He looks like he’d fit in the Port Mafia.’

Aizawa checks his phone and shows the result to the class. 705.2 meters. “Woah!!”

“All right. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be punished with expulsion.”

“Huh?!?” ‘This got interesting!’ Chuuya smirked.

“Welcome to UA’s hero course!” ‘I’m starting to like this teacher!’

“Last place will be expelled?!” Gravity girl calls out. “But it’s the first day of school! No, even if it wasn’t the first day of school, this is too unfair!”

“Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish villains. Calamities whose time or place can’t be predicted.” ‘Dazai can probably predict them. Ugh, I hate that smartass.’ “Japan is covered in unfairness. Heroes are the ones who reverse those situations. For the next three years, UA will give you multiple hardships, one after another. Go beyond. Plus Ultra.”

Test 1: 50-meter dash

Of course, Chuuya could easily get first place. That is if he wasn’t limited to only increasing gravity. For this test, he just runs as quickly as he can-which is still fast. He gets 5th place. The teacher’s pet gets 1st place. Chuuya would be severely disappointed if he got lower since his whole quirk revolves around speed. The way everyone else used their quirks to their advantage was… “unique” some might say.

Test 2: Grip Strength

A guy with multiple limbs used three hands and got a score of 540 kilograms. Chuuya used his gravity to pull down and break the lever. He got 1st place.

Test 3: Long Jump

Chuuya’s “quirk” again doesn’t help here. He continues to jump like a normal person. He still places higher than the nerd because he is physically stronger.

Test 4: Repeated Side Steps

Chuuya wished he picked a different restriction. Like changing the direction of gravity instead of increasing it.

Test 5: Ball throw

Gravity Girl makes the ball float endlessly and gets a score of infinity. Chuuya really wishes he had picked a different restriction. He continues doing the assessment as if he didn’t have an ability quirk. The nerd goes up and looks like he’s going through some inner conflict. ‘I guess it makes sense… The last time he used his quirk, his arm shattered.’ The nerd goes into a throwing position and his arm gets covered in the red streaks. When he tosses the ball, no exploding power comes out. “46 meters.” ‘Well, that was incredibly underwhelming.’

“I erased your quirk.” Aizawa said, eyes glowing red and his hair floating like a Disney Princess. ‘Ugh. Not another Dazai.’ Chuuya decided to block out the teacher’s scolding as soon as he associated him with Dazai. Aizawa said something about the nerd hurting himself and being weak. The nerd introduces Aizawa’s quirk and his hero persona to the class. Chuuya instantly spots All Might snooping around, behind a building. ‘The hell is he doing here? And as a hero, shouldn’t you know how to conceal your presence? Chuuya looks back at the nerd and notices that instead of using his whole arm, he uses one finger to throw the ball. He still is capable of moving and he got the result he wanted. Everyone mutters about his shocking score. Spiky hair’s face is the definition of “jaw dropped” Explosions come sparkling out of his hand.

“What’s the meaning of this?! Hey! Tell me what’s going on, Deku, you bastard!!” As Spiky hair sprints toward Deku with explosive sparks coming out of his hand, Aizawa uses his scarf to stop his movements and he activates his quirk.

“Tch. Stop making me use my quirk. I have dry eyes!” ‘That’s such a waste of an actually good power! Well, it’s not an ability after all. I knew quirks sucked ass.’ Chuuya rolls his eyes at Aizawa’s complaint. Deku awkwardly scurries away from Spiky hair.

Results

The class gathered around as Aizawa turned on some projection that displayed the rankings. Chuuya got 8th place. Shown at 21st place was Deku. His face looked very pale. “By the way, I was lying about the expulsion. It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your quirk.” Deku’s face instantly lit up and some color was brought back to it.

“What?!!?”

“Of course, it was a lie. It should’ve been obvious if you just thought it through.” the Gin lookalike stated.

“Go back to class. There will be worksheets and handouts.” ‘Great. Just what I needed.’

-

“Nakahara!” Chuuya turned around to locate the voice. He sees Gravity Gi- Uraraka? He thinks that’s her name, at least.

Chuuya huffs, annoyed. The last thing he needed to top off this unbearable mission was naive little kids who wanted to play heroes. “Do you need something?”

“Uh- No! I mean- Kind of? I heard you also had a gravity quirk!” She said, starry-eyed. “I can remove the gravity of an object or person I touch with five fingers! It’s called ‘Zero Gravity’! What’s your quirk?”

Chuuya groans internally. Being around Mori a lot, Chuuya learned how to avoid showing disappointment or disagreements. “I can increase the gravity of my chosen target. It’s called ‘For Th-‘ Uhhh... ‘Gravitational Influence..?’” It sounded more like a question but Uraraka didn’t seem to care. Abilities were also known for their strange names and the kanji that were written all over the bursts of power. Luckily for Chuuya, his power didn’t involve kanji being written. It only made it more convenient for Chuuya to be chosen as the person to take on the mission, which Chuuya hated.

“Woah!! That’s so cool, Nakahara! Y’know, I’ve never met another gravity user like me! We should give each other tips, even if our quirks are the opposite!”

“Uh-huh.”

“Hey! Is that Deku and   Tenya? Come on, Nakahara, let’s go say hi!” Uraraka runs towards the two and Chuuya unwillingly follows. “Hello!”

“You’re the infinity girl. And you’re the guy who broke the grip measurer.”

“I’m Nakahara Chuuya.”

“I’m Uraraka Ochaco! You’re uh.. Iida Tenya! And your Midoriya Deku!”

“D-Deku?!”

“Huh? Is that not your name? But that Bakugo guy said- ‘Deku! You bastard!’” ‘I also thought his name was Deku. I mean. I’ve been mentally calling him nerd this whole time, so I guess it’s an upgrade.’

“Uh.. my real name is Izuku but Kacchan calls me Deku to make fun of me..” Called it. I knew they had history.’

“Oh! I’m very sorry! But “Deku” sounds similar to ‘You can do it!’, so I kind of like it!”

“My name is Deku!” ‘The switch-up is actually crazy.’

“Midoriya! It was an insult a few seconds ago! How did you accept it so quickly?!” Iida scolded.

‘Is this guy a simp? Ugh, he reminds me of Dazai. Always flirting with people, observant, self-sacrificing.’ “You guys are taking the train, right?” Chuuya asks.

“Yeah.”

“My apartment is this way, so… bye?” Again. Chuuya appreciates living near UA. Though it means he has more of a chance of running into people on the way, at least he won’t have to see them on the way home.

“Bye Nakahara!”

-

Chuuya collapses onto his newly bought bed and reflects on his life choices. ‘I think I could’ve lived, not knowing about Arahabaki. I should’ve stayed a Sheep.’ Smashing his face into his pillow, he let out a muffled scream. Flipping onto his back to stare at the ceiling, he thinks of ways to end UA. ‘Their quirk assessments lack variety. Since the test was mainly physical, the only quirks that would’ve helped out were the flashy ones. One of the kids was invisible, which didn’t quite help. Another fault is that their lessons are so boring.’  It’s mostly just Chuuya, but he’ll never admit that. Chuuya lets out a sigh.

Notes:

I actually wish that the quirk assessments involved tests for different kinds of quirks

Chapter 5: Day 2

Chapter Text

Chuuya wakes up bright and early at 9:47 AM. Noticing his phone was bombed with emails from Aizawa he reads them. Upon realizing that school is apparently on Saturdays, Chuuya arrives pretty early at 10:02 (School starts at 8:45). When Chuuya arrives, the class is extremely calm and collected, he gets dropped a- “Nakahara! Why are you late?! That is very unprofessional and it is only the second day!” What makes it worse is that it isn’t the teacher scolding him, but Tenya fucking Iida.

-

Chuuya didn’t really pay attention in class. Impatient and always feeling that something needs to get done, Chuuya thought about ways to defeat All For One. Being able to have multiple quirks was way too overpowered. Pulling out his phone, he searches up previous fights that include All For One. Seeing a video a few years ago, Chuuya was quite surprised at One For All's strength. It only made him curious and nervous. Chuuya would definitely struggle to fight against him. Chuuya wondered until the bell rang. ‘Why didn’t Mori send Dazai as well? Is he trying to test my skills?’ At lunch, Chuuya decided to sit by himself. That is until Yaoyorozu sat by him.

“Nakahara! What’s your phone number? There’s a class group chat and I’m trying to get everyone to join!”

Chuuya eyes her suspiciously but doesn’t make it obvious. After thinking for excuses to not hand over his with no success, Chuuya flips out his phone and checks his contact info. “It’s (###)###-####.“ It didn’t really matter anyway. This was just his phone for the mission. Couldn’t risk having Dazai somehow track him down, so the Port Mafia provided him with a new one. Chuuya even bought extra clothes in case Dazai put any tracking devices on his old ones.

“Oh? You have a flip phone?” Yaoyorozu points out.

“Huh? I guess?” ‘Why did she call it that? It’s not wrong, but don’t you just call it a phone?’

“Anyways, I’ll add you to the group chat now!” She pulls out her phone. ‘Huh, it doesn’t flip. Tch. Why is Yokohama so behind in terms of technology?’

Ring!

“Oh, it’s time for class. See you later, Nakahara!” Yaoyorozu walks away to toss out her remaining lunch.

“I am coming through the door like a normal person!” All Might burst through the door and marched to the front of the room. “I am your Hero Study Teacher! Today, we’ll be doing… Combat training! And to go along with that… are these!” He points at a wall and containers remotely shift out. “These are the hero costumes that you submitted before school!” ‘Oh yeah. I forgot about that.’ Chuuya didn’t have the time to make a costume so he just submitted his Port Mafia outfit.

“Woah!!” The class gasped.

“After you put these on, gather in Ground Beta!”

-

“Woah, Nakahara! Your hero costume looks so cool! It gives off a very powerful vibe!” Uraraka says excitedly.

“Thanks. Yours also looks fashionable.”

“Oh, I didn’t really write what I wanted, so mine just ended up as a skintight bodysuit.” She gives a strained smile while rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly.

Chuuya looks around at the other designs. Midoriya had a familiar-looking cockroach antennae. Some other outfits were very… bizarre and had some parts that served no purpose other than fanservice. Which Chuuya finds unusual since these are kids. Chuuya looks at Iida’s unnecessarily heavy-looking outfit. ‘If his abil- quirk is speed, then wouldn’t having something like that make his quirk less useful? Tch. Some of these quirks aren’t bad yet they’re wasting it on bad decisions. And Yaoyorozu’s questionable window serves no purpose. If something like that was accepted, she should’ve just had an open-back shirt. It provides more space for larger items.’

“You all look great!! Now, shall we begin, you zygotes? Now, let’s begin!”

“Sensei!” Iida says in his ridiculously fictional-looking outfit. “This is a battle center from the entrance exam, are we conducting urban battles again?”

“No, we’re going to move two steps ahead! Most of the time, fighting villains takes place outside, but if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a higher rate. In this society, truly intelligent villains hide in the shadows! For this class, you’ll be split into villains and heroes and fight 2-on-2 indoor battles!” All Might instantly got bombed with questions. “Uh.. I’ll answer all your questions!” He pulls out a book. ‘A script? Doesn’t he specialize in combat? Why does he need a script? Is he that incompetent?’ Surprisingly, Iida doesn’t complain about it. Chuuya then tunes out All Might’s voice describing the process of the lesson. He’ll just ask his teammates to summarize what they’re doing.

“Here are the teams!” All Might announces as he hands out a sheet of paper to each student.

  1. Ashido Mina & Kirishima Ejiro
  2. Asui Tsuyu & Aoyama Yuga
  3. Iida Tenya & Nakahara Chuuya
  4. Yaoyaorozu Momo & Koda Koji
  5. Mineta Minoru & Todoroki Shoto
  6. Uraraka Ochaco & Midoriya Izuku
  7. Ojiro Mashirao & Kaminari Denki
  8. Bakugo Katsuki & Jirou Kyoka
  9. Tokoyami Fumikage & Shoji Mezo
  10. Hagakure Toru & Sero Hanta
  11. Sato Rikido & Random

‘Ugh! Not this guy… Why am I stuck with him??’ Chuuya doesn’t even try to hide his disappointment. Iida however, does. Noticing that Chuuya and Bakugo have a… violent side(Bakugo shows it off a little more), Iida subconsciously dislikes them more than others.

“These teams were picked at random.” ‘They better have been because no way would someone actually think that I’d work well with this loser!’ “If your team number is an even number, you are heroes, if it’s odd, you’re a villain” Chuuya checked his team paper again. ‘Team 3’ he read. ‘!! This may be the last time I can do something that’s morally incorrect!’ He turned his face away from everyone so that they wouldn’t notice his grin.

All Might project his voice again. “These teams will be competing against each other: 1 and 4, 7 and 6, 3 and 8, 9 and 10, 5 and 2!!” Chuuya checked his paper again. His opponents were…

‘Spiky Hair?’ Fuck! It’s the second day of school and I already dislike most of the people I met.’ “Tch. Annoying..”

“Hah?! Ya scared I’m gonna beat your ass?” Bakugo approaches Chuuya.

“Scared? Who’d be scared of a condescending brat like you?” Chuuya continues arguing with Bakugo.

“Look who’s talking, Shrimp!”

“You wanna fi-”

“Team 3 and 8 will go first! Everyone else, head straight towards the monitoring room!”

Bakugo glares at Chuuya. “Don’t cry while I kick your ass!”

“The only tears you’ll see are the ones in your eyes!”

Chuuya’s recent argument with Bakugo (in his opinion) was straight-up boring. Meaningless words were tossed out of Bakugo’s mouth. Chuuya could hardly pay attention. With a hateful tone, it was surprising that the words were colorless. At that moment, Chuuya had decided. He was hanging out with Dazai too much. Dazai’s abnormality was rubbing off on him. Maybe this mission would do him some good.

“I can’t believe we have to be villains!” Iida has stress radiating off of him. Chuuya, on the other hand, is pretty relaxed. Their bomb is on the 3rd floor, on the East side of the building.

“What are we doing again? I wasn’t really paying attention.” Chuuya popped a piece of gum in his mouth.

“You- You weren’t paying attention?!? This isn’t a game! This UA High! I am offended that you aren’t taking this seriously!”

Chuuya rolls his eyes. “Ugh, fine. Forget I asked. I think I understand most of it. We have to protect this ‘bomb’ and stop the heroes or something. Alright. Here’s my plan: You protect this bomb while I go and take out Spiky and Headphones. Knowing Spiky, he’s going to be extremely loud and not discreet so locating him won’t be hard. Headphones will probably listen for movements so don’t make any loud noises. Got it?” Not waiting for a response, Chuuya continues. “Okay, great. Later-”

“But I can’t be a villain!” Iida protests. Hearing this, Chuuya let out a groan.

“If it helps you sleep, then just pretend that we are heroes protecting someone very important. Or something like that.” Chuuya runs off before he can hear another word.

-

Chuuya hopped down the stairs quietly. Stealth is one of the things Kouyou had taught him when he first joined the Port Mafia. He learned how to make his footsteps light and how to breathe silently. “Come out, you coward!!” Bakugo screams out. ‘Hmm. I would jump him, but he’d then start babbling about how it wasn’t fair. Insufferable bastard. After I’m done with this mission, I’m gonna kill him.’ Staying behind a corner, Chuuya glances over and spots Bakugo with explosions sparkling out of his hands. Noticing the lack of a partner, Bakugo either: ran ahead, or Headphones is searching for the bomb. Hands in his pocket, Chuuya shifts the rock above his shoe, flicks it up, and kicks the rock, aiming for Bakugo’s head. Bakugo notices and shields his face with his arm and it ricochets off with a clink. ‘Tch. If I had no limitations, that could’ve knocked him out cold.’

“Hey! C’mere, bastard!!” Using his quirk, he glides towards Chuuya and kicks, aiming for his head. Chuuya ducks under and sweeps his leg against Bakugo’s, making him fall onto the ground.

“Coward! Using underhanded tactics!” Bakugo growled. He jumps up and back, creating distance between him and Chuuya. He attempts to punch Chuuya with a bit of an explosion, but Chuuya dodges to the left. Bakugo ends up punching the wall and it then explodes.  Hands still in his pocket, he kicks Bakugo in the. Hard. Bakugo gets knocked back into the wall and coughs. “Bastard..! Why aren’t you using your quirk?!” Chuuya spots this as a sign to agitate him.

“Because you’re not worth using it on! I bet I can beat you without my ab- quirk! Forget the quirk, I can beat you without my hands!” Chuuya mocks with a cocky smirk.

“Don’t underestimate me!” Bakugo’s grenade attachments glow in red. “They’re loaded. My quirk lets me secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the sweat glands on the palm of my hand and make it explode!” ‘Ah, the classic explaining the power. We’ve all been there before.’ “If they made it the way I asked, then these gauntlets will store the nitroglycerin inside them, and…” He pulls the trigger. ‘Oh Shit! He’s going to-'

“Young Bakugo, stop!” All Might commanded but it was too late. The gauntlets already started powering up. “Are you trying to kill him?!” As he flicks off the pin, explosions tear through the walls and half the building explodes along with Chuuya.

“Fuck!!” Chuuya hisses. “You asshole!” His skin received all kinds of burns all around, ranging from first degree to third. Inhaling a lot of smoke, breathing became hard and he began coughing uncontrollably. Remembering that he’s felt worse before, he clenches his jaw and pushes on. Without thinking, he activates his ability and smashes Bakugo to the ground with increased gravity. As Bakugo’s face grinds into the sharp rocks of the floor, his face gets stabbed and he inhales sharply. He let out an agonizing scream.

“Nakahara? Nakahara! What’s going on down there?!?” Due to the rushing adrenaline, Chuuya fails to hear Iida’s voice.

”Bakugo?! Are you okay?!” Jirou’s shouting could be heard through Bakugo’s earpiece.

“You fucking hypocrite! Lecturing me about underhanded tactics and look at you!” Clutching onto his arm, he breathes heavily. “I’m going to kill you,” he mutters with a small grin. Increasing the gravity on Bakugo, he sinks into the ground, more and more. As he gets crushed, he voices out his pain. The broken pieces of concrete pierced through his skin and it started cracking his rib cage.

Suddenly, Chuuya gets yanked back. “Nakahara Chuuya!!! Stop this instant!” All Might shout. As Chuuya realizes what he is doing, he immediately deactivates his ability. Not feeling quite sorry, he glares at the ground. “Why didn’t you listen when I told you to stop?!”

“Wh- That fucker burned me!!” Chuuya protests.

All Might sighs. “Someone get Recovery Girl!” He turns on his microphone. “Iida, Jirou. This test ends early. Come meet everyone in the monitoring room.”

-

As Chuuya’s adrenaline rush slowed down, the burns started to hurt a lot more. The stings pinching at his body is more miserable now that he’s lying down. Bakugo got treated first, seeing how he was more injured. Chuuya could confidently say that he didn’t have a drop of regret. He overhears Aizawa and Recovery Girl talking.

“I knew it was a bad idea for All Might to become a teacher. What was he thinking? Battles on the second day?”

“To be fair, Eraserhead, you were planning on expelling them on the first day.”

“That was to sort the ones with potential and the ones without. This is just reckless. But it’s expected, knowing that these two are the most violent out of the whole class.”

“Mhm. Can you call in Nakahara now?”

Chuuya doesn’t wait to be called in. He walks in with a sour look on his face.

“You problem children got it out of your system yet?” Aizawa questions, raising an eyebrow. Chuuya stays silent, eyebrows furrowed. As Recovery Girl kisses Chuuya, he can feel his swollen skin heal up. The burn marks glow in green as they fade away, slowly feeling better. The teacher sighs. “Bakugo has 3 fractured ribs, a dislocated shoulder, a fracture in his femur, and lots of stab wounds. If you used your quirk any longer, his ribs would’ve punctured his lungs.” Chuuya wished he kept going.

Aizawa lets out another sigh. “What? That fucker deserves it.” Chuuya sassed.

“You’re training to become Pro Heroes, not Pro Villains.” Aizawa reminds. Feeling drowsy from Recovery Girls' quirk, Chuuya can’t find it in him to protest. Aizawa sighs again. “Just go to sleep. Recovery Girls' quirk will take up a lot of your energy. We’ll speak of your punishment later.” As Chuuya’s eyelids start to feel heavy, sleep starts to sound really good.

“Even though the match ended early, and there is no clear winner, does anyone know who was the MVP?”

“Was it Nakahara? The way he withstood Bakugo’s attack was pretty manly!” Kirishima calls out.

“It was indeed Young Nakahara, but that wasn’t the only thing that made him the MVP! He constructed a plan and took Young Bakugo’s temper into account. He also reassured Iida about his role so that he would perform better!“ If Chuuya was there he would argue with that. Chuuya did not care about Iida’s well-being nor cared if Iida disagreed with his plan. He only said those things so that he could ditch Iida and so that Iida would stop nagging him. To be completely honest, Chuuya only wanted to put Bakugo in his place so he made a random plan from the top of his head to please Iida’s high expectations. Indeed annoying. “While fighting Bakugo, Nakahara showed an impressive display of martial arts, he also showed a bit of spatial awareness! Using the corridors to his advantage, Nakahara knocked Bakugo back, which caused more damage. Even though I’m not encouraging this violent act, it was indeed remarkable.” Everyone stayed quiet to think about it.

All Might speaks up again. “If Young Nakahara and Young Bakugo weren’t so injured, who do you think would’ve won?” As a hero in training, of course, you would want to say that the heroes won… but being realistic, everyone knew the answer. Multiple kids raise their hands. “Young Ashido!” All Might calls.

“Nakahara and Iida, right? They had a plan.”

“Correct! I also believe that Young Nakahara and Young Iida would’ve won! Not only did they have a plan, but they also had better teamwork! Bakugo had run off, letting his feelings get to him.”

-

After slowly awakening, Chuuya stares at the ceiling blankly. Shifting his head to the side, he sees Bakugo sleeping on the bed a few feet away. ‘They must have a lot of faith that we won’t kill each other the second we wake up. I’d prefer if they put him in another room.’ Turning his head in the other direction, he spots Aizawa in his bright yellow body bag. Out of all the people Chuuya met, Aizawa was probably the most relatable. Chuuya enjoys watching him scare the class. Sliding off the bed, Chuuya quietly exits the room for two reasons. One, he doesn’t want to converse with Aizawa about his punishment. Two, Aizawa probably needs the sleep anyway. He flips out his phone to check the time. ‘4:53’ he read. It was almost time for school to end. Chuuya was somewhat thankful he slept the whole day. He didn’t feel like doing algebra. Dragging his feet on the ground, he sluggishly opened the door that said “Class 1-A”.

As eyes laid on him along with some mutters he entered the room. Chuuya walked to his seat. Noticing a paper on his desk, he sits to read it. It was feedback on his 2-on-2 battle. It said that he unnecessarily agitated Bakugo with comments. Other than that, he did a great job.

-

Feeling a heavy weight on his body while he went to his apartment, Chuuya noticed a few students staring at him. He thinks that the story spread out about how he almost killed someone but Chuuya couldn’t care less. Half asleep, he let his legs carry him around wherever.

After being half unconscious for half an hour, Chuuya realizes that it only takes him 10 minutes to walk home. So now, he’s been wandering around for 20 minutes. Unaware of his surroundings, he glances around, looking for something familiar. The only thing he felt was deja vu from the dark alleyways in Yokohama. And just like in Yokohama alleyways, there was screaming.

A dark-haired boy came dashing out, shouting for help. A blonde girl with two messy buns followed and sliced his neck open. His corpse dropped down and blood splattered 4 feet away from Chuuya. ‘Ugh..’ The girl looks at Chuuya up and down, making some sort of evaluation of him. “Ooh~! You’re really pretty! I wonder what your blood tastes like!! ” The girl giggles.

Chuuya sighs at the thought of meeting another mentally unstable person.

“Do you know where I am?” he said, uninterested. His shoulders slouched and he yawned, tiringly.

The girl cocked her head to the side. “You don’t care that I just killed someone? Aren’t you in UA High? That’s their uniform.” Chuuya looks around to see if anyone’s watching.

Looking back at the girl, he answers, “I’m going against my own will.” ‘And it would be hypocritical if I did care,’ he leaves out. “If you like blood so much, isn’t your technique inconvenient?”

The girl giggles with her sleeve covering her mouth. “Wow! You’re really interesting! I like you!”

“Uh-huh. How do I get back to UA? I’m kind of lost.”

“Hmm. You keep walking in that direction!” She points outwards.

“Thanks.” Chuuya turns to walk back.

“I’m Toga Himiko! Don’t forget me!” she shouts, waving.

“Nakahara Chuuya.” he waved back as he walked away. He let out a sharp exhale. ‘That was anticlimactic. I’m glad though. I don’t feel like fighting right now. Now that I think about it, what if she just pointed me in some random direction and I’m just getting more lost? Oh well. I’ll just sleep on the streets.’

After a while, Chuuya did manage to get home (eventually). Too tired to change clothes, he collapses on the couch and sleeps, hoping that this mission is just a long nightmare that’ll be over soon. Meeting all these questionable people was too much.

Chapter Text

Chuuya blinks his eyes open. Sluggishly, he turns on his phone to check his email. The bright screen blinds him as he reads Aizawa’s message.

To, Nakahara Chuuya,

For health and well-being purposes, school has been canceled for one day. A portion of the students had been sent to Recovery Girl the previous day. Having this in mind, so that everyone is healthy, there is no school today. Make sure you get some rest.

Regards, Aizawa Shota

Squinting at his phone, he flipped it close. Chuuya tossed his blanket over him and went back to sleep.

-

He woke up a few hours later with messages from the class group chat.

Midoriya added Iida to the group chat

Iida: What’s this for?

Midoriya: This is a class gc

Iida: I see.

Iida: You guys shouldn’t be using your phones. Everyone should be getting proper rest so that we can perform better at school. We all have things to work on, so being prepared makes it easier.

Chuuya turns off his phone. ‘Oh my fucking god. Why the hell would you invite him? I’m not going to talk there just to avoid him.’ Chuuya checked the time. 10:24 AM. He shifted out of the couch lazily and changed out of his uniform. Feeling icky, he decided to wash his hair. The sweat and toxins that came from his fight yesterday were not the best feeling. Ashes sat on his skin, making him feel dusty. After washing his hair and body, he changed into a white shirt and black shorts and kept his gloves, choker, and hat on. Dropping onto his bed he checked his phone again.

Uraraka: He’s in the group chat

Uraraka: I think he’s offline

Uraraka: R u there, Nakahara?

Kaminari: whs anomymius

Kaminari: abd u csn mute ppl here???

Sero: ig?

‘Wow. That was crazy. I wonder who muted Iida’ Chuuya thought, knowing full well who it was (It was him).

Anyway, Chuuya decided to research more on the hero's morals and whatever new technology appears here. He found that there is a large population of heroes and being a hero is basically the dream job. Quirks are basically what gives someone worth. On multiple occasions, Chuuya had seen powerless kids being a victim of discrimination and assault. At least in the Port Mafia, abilityless people could still be valued. Gin, Tachihara, Higuchi, and many others stood somewhat high in the hierarchy. High compared to the people in Musutafu.

On his observation stroll, he noticed a familiar bunch of green hair in the alleyway. It wasn’t the alleyways that Chuuya knew. There was lighting and it was pretty clean. Next to Midoriya, stood a bony man with baggy clothes. He had golden blonde hair that was generally all over the place. Finding this suspicious, Chuuya decided not to interfere and stood back to eavesdrop.

“…ⁿᵉᵛᵉʳ ˢᵉᵉⁿ ʰⁱᵐ ˡᵒᵒᵏ ˢᵒ ᵈᵉᶠᵉᵃᵗᵉᵈ ᵒʳ ⁱⁿʲᵘʳᵉᵈ!” The voice was muffled and hard to hear, so Chuuya inched closer. “-it was really scary, seeing both of them rage like that. Even though- … I-” Midoriya stumbled through his words. “I don’t know what to think. I feel bad but-“ Midoriya sighed.

The blonde man replied “…I should have jumped in as soon as Bakugo set off his gauntlet. As a teacher, my number one priority should have been the safety of my students.” Midoriya stared at him, teary-eyed. “Had I stopped the fight, no one would have been so severely injured. Not to mention, this had only deteriorated their relationship. As peers, they’ll need to cooperate in the future, and I’m afraid that I’ve ruined their willingness to do so.”

Chuuya raised his eyebrow upon the conversation. ‘Are they talking about the fighting lesson yesterday? Who’s this? He said he was the teacher. Is that… All Might?! Why is he so bony??’ Questions flooded his mind. Subconsciously, Chuuya walks away. ‘Looks like the number one hero isn’t as strong as appeared.’ Remembering the video he watched in class (All Might vs All For One), he noticed a really bad injury. He was willing to bet that this frail form of All Might was from that injury. ‘Why would All Might be showing Midoriya this weaker version of him? In what scenarios would All Might show Midoriya this?’ Chuuya hummed softly. ‘Tch. Dazai would’ve been useful here.’

-

2:41 AM

Despite being on a mission, Chuuya was still given paperwork to do, which Chuuya thought was bullshit. Since Chuuya was sent to Musutafu, Mori thought it would be better for Chuuya to sort out whatever was going on in the hero society. Apparently, some heroes are being a little nosy about Yokohama. But honestly, who wouldn’t be a little curious? Said city is rumored to have a large “villain” organization with a lot of power called the “Port Mafia''. While most people believe that Yokohama is home to quirkless people, there is confidential information that is only accessible to powerful government officials or trusted heroes-that there is a rare type of power: abilities. Abilities were stronger and less limited than quirks. As previously stated, light bursts with kanji written over them, and abilities are less common than quirks. This unknown concept would only bring fear to the public, so it is only available to trustworthy people who know how to keep a secret. That was until a few years ago when information got leaked. Everyone had been on edge for a while and some people still are. Ability users are all around the world, but most of the population of them is in Yokohama. It is said that ability users flock towards Yokohama, for quirked individuals aren’t allowed to enter. Being discriminated against was not the best thing so moving was naturally the better option. Of course, quirkless people are also a victim of discrimination, so there is a chance that they also might migrate to Yokohama.

In Chuuya’s paperwork, it is said that Pro Heroes Herbal Affect, Ignorant Bunch, and many others had attempted to infiltrate Yokohama. All but one hero is now held captive. In other words, a hero is loose in Yokohama. Chuuya ground his teeth together. ‘What the fuck do they want me to do about it? I’m not in Yokohama anymore!’ He slammed his fists on the table. ‘This is not my problem anymore.’ Chuuya pushed the paper away from him and stood up to go to his room. Dropping to his bed, he took around an hour to fall asleep.

-

Resting his head on his desk with a ringing headache, Chuuya got a total of three hours of sleep. Being at school rivals against getting shot two times in the leg and being Even though his head was pounding with pain, Chuuya still paid attention to the lesson. Unfortunately, there is still a chance that he’ll get expelled for failing too many tests, so Chuuya has more work on his plate. Chuuya notices Bakugo glaring at him. He stared back at him, eyebrows furrowed. Bakugo looks away.

On the verge of dying, some commotion came from outside. Slowly rising up from being half-sprawled on the table, Chuuya glances out the window. Outside was a large crowd of reporters. There was a blank space where a gate used to be. “The fuck? Isn’t this place supposed to have top security? Maybe I could sue the school.’

“Everyone stay calm!” Iida shouted. “Having a clear mind in uncertain situations like this is what great heroes do! So let’s all stay calm!” Chuuya groans quietly. Hearing Iida’s voice makes him drop his head to the table. Aizawa was nowhere to be seen. Probably due to the chaos outside. ‘Did someone use their quirk to remove the gate? A transportation quirk? Or something destructive? It’s unlikely that one of the reporters had a quirk like that. The person who removed the gate did this just to bring chaos.’ Chuuya continued staring out the window, eyes half closed. ‘I might as well get some more sleep.’

-

“…ss representative. The decision is up to you guys. I don’t care, just pick quickly.” Instantly, chatter was heard. Aizawa dragged his sleeping bag outside and closed the door.

“Who do you think should get the role?” Ashido shouted. Multiple voices were heard at once. Of course, most people wanted the role for themselves. The classroom door opened and Aizawa stuck his head in.

“You can’t vote for yourself.” And then he closed the door.

“I think Iida should be it! It was manly how he made sure that we were calm during the ruckus earlier!” Kirishima said. Everyone silently agreed until they started voicing their agreement. Being a bit biased, Chuuya only half agreed. He also thought that the role suited him, but out of spite, he didn’t want Iida to get a class representative.

“Let’s put our votes in a box!” Hakagure suggested. Seeing as no one else had a different idea, they went along with Hagakure’s suggestion.

Remembering that Yaoyorozu created the class group chat, Chuuya voted for her. After everyone had dumped their votes in the box, Aizawa came back from his slumber and took the box. He dug his hands in the box and pulled out a piece of paper. “Iida.” he read. He picked up a piece of chalk and wrote Iida’s name with a tally mark. At the end of the election, Iida had a total of 11 votes, Yaoyorozu had 9, and Midoriya had 2. Therefore, Iida became class president and to make things fair to the 9 people who voted for Yaoyorozu, she became vice president.

“Thank you for voting for me! I will make sure to reach your expectations!” Iida shouted. Chuuya let out a quiet sigh. ‘I wanna go back to Yokohama.’

-

Brain feeling fuzzy, Chuuya can’t find it in him to focus on the words coming out of Aizawa’s mouth. “Tₒ bₑcₒₘₑ ₐ ₕₑᵣₒ, ₜₕₑᵣₑ ᵢₛ ₛₒₘₑ bₒᵤₙdₐᵣᵢₑₛ ₜₕₐₜ yₒᵤ cₐₙ’ₜ cᵣₒₛₛ. ᵥᵢₗₗₐᵢₙₛ ₐᵣₑ ᵥᵢₗₗₐᵢₙₛ, ₛₒ ₛₕₒw ₙₒ ₘₑᵣcy. ᵢf ₜₕₑy gᵢᵥₑ yₒᵤ ₐ ₛₒb ₛₜₒᵣy, fₑₑₗ bₐd ₐfₜₑᵣ ₜₕₑy ᵣₑcₑᵢᵥₑ ₜₕₑ ₖₐᵣₘₐ ₜₕₑy dₑₛₑᵣᵥₑ.” In one ear, out the other. “ₐₙₒₜₕₑᵣ bₒᵤₙdₐᵣy ᵢₛ Yokohama.” Out of all the things Chuuya’s teacher said, the only word he processed was Yokohama. Only then, did Chuuya start paying attention. Of course, he keeps his face neutral. If anyone found out he had any connection with Yokohama, it could jeopardize the mission. Knowing that this is an important mission assigned by Mori, it means Yokohama or even the country is at stake. Maybe the world.

“Yesterday, six heroes infiltrated the city, even though they’ve been warned of consequences. We have been informed that five have been reported missing.” ‘Huh, I think I remember reading about that.’ “The rest is confidential, but I’m sure that this information is enough to tell you to not make dumb decisions. The point is, if you don’t bother Yokohama, I’m sure they won’t bother you.” Chuuya smiled internally. ‘I knew I liked him. At least one hero has a sense of safety.’

Being informed of five Pro Hero’s disappearances, it was expected for everyone to freak out. “Sir! Five heroes went missing! We should be disciplining Yokohama for their actions! Isn’t that what heroes do? Bring justice?” Iida protested, much to Chuuya’s dislike. Most of the class agreed. It is taking all of Chuuya’s sense of morality (which isn’t much) to start beating the shit out of Iida.

“I agree! Yokohama is only a quirkless city! We have The Symbol of Peace! Why are we hiding?”

Aizawa sighs at the expected responses. “I’m sure you know of Abilities.” The class shuts up at that. “Abilities are stronger than quirks. And Yokohama is known as ‘Home to ability users’. Yokohama does not permit heroes or quirked people to enter. Technically, the six heroes who infiltrated the city were illegally doing so. Since that is the case, there is nothing the HPSC can do.” A few students mutter at that. One kid raises his hand up. ”Yes, Midoriya?”

“If heroes aren’t allowed in, how would we help them?” ‘Pshh! As if we need help!’

“Yokohama is basically independent from Japan at this point. Whatever happens, there is their problem. However, I believe they are more than capable enough to handle it.”

“Aizawa-sensei, doesn’t an organization called the ‘Port Mafia’ rule a large part of Yokohama? Kero.”

A few hours ago…

“Aizawa.” Turning around, Aizawa sees…

“What do you want, All Might?”

“You’re teaching 1-A about Hero Precautions, right?”

“What about it?” Aizawa notices All Might’s fist clench a bit.

All Might uneasily says “Be mindful of what information you give and take their reactions into account.” Upon hearing this, Aizawa knows what All Might’s talking about.

“I know. If that’s all, I’m going.”

Present time…

“...That’s not confirmed. It is merely a rumor.” Aizawa is 85% sure that the Port Mafia exists. To make sure the class doesn’t freak out more than they already are, he doesn’t say anything. Chuuya finds it hard not to react to the hesitation in Aizawa’s voice, but he manages. Chuuya knows that Aizawa is aware of the Port Mafia’s existence. His eyes stay closed, and minimal facial movement occurs. “Just listen. Staying away from Yokohama benefits everyone.” ‘and no one unnecessarily dies.’ is left unsaid. “Next hero precaution, be aware of your surroundings. You may fight villains to help others, but you can’t let others get caught in the crossover. Your property will always be the citizens.”

-

Ring!

“You’re all dismissed.” ‘Finally.’

Chuuya sat himself down at a table. He picked at his food with a fork, taking a few bites at a time. He formed his hands into a fist, rested his cheek against it, and stared down at his food. “Hey, Nakahara!” a voice came from behind. Chuuya turned around. It was Uraraka. Chuuya noticed that Uraraka, Midoriya, and Iida always sat together. Seems like there was a change in events. Did something happen?

“Hello.” He shifted to the left to make room for her.

“The lesson was pretty nerve-racking, huh? It’s kind of scary, knowing that Yokohama has the power to take out five heroes. Pro Heroes. The ones that went were quite strong too.”

‘What would a normal person say?’ “...Yeah. I wonder how they managed to defeat them.” Awkward silence began and Chuuya continued stabbing his fork in the food to distract him from it.

“...This may sound cowardly for a hero in training, but I don’t think I ever want to go to Yokohama.” Chuuya looked at Uraraka- who was still staring at the table. “ I’m sure that everyone else would rush straight in if it meant saving someone. To be completely honest, I’m terrified.” Uraraka’s breath was a little shaky and she gave a strained smile. Realizing what she was saying, her eyes widened. “Oh! …Sorry for dumping my feelings on you…”

Chuuya always thought that expressing your feelings meant showing the most vulnerable part of you. Showing raw emotion makes you weak and easy to manipulate. Talking about your feelings lets people know what you're weak to. Chuuya had already used emotions to his advantage in the UA. He angered Bakugo purposely to get him to make more mistakes. Of course, Chuuya learned all this from Dazai. Telling the Demon Prodigy about sentiments would just end with him picking you apart, using the information you gave. Chuuya is in a constant battle with himself, deciding if it would be better or worse if Dazai was here. If Dazai was here, he’d have Uraraka dropped off at the center of Yokohama, just for fun. Questioning why Uraraka trusts him enough to tell him this, he stays quiet for a while. “...Uhm.. It’s fine. I don’t really mind.”

“Do you think heroes ever felt this way? Can I still save people with this mindset? I feel bad that real heroes risk their lives daily, while I’m just worried over something small like this.” ‘I wouldn’t exactly call Yokohama a small problem.’

“I’m sure everyone’s worried about the situation with Yokohama.” ‘Not me though.’ “And it’s okay to be afraid of things that you have no knowledge about. When you become a hero, it’s not a requirement to want to go to Yokohama. Aizawa-sensei himself said that it would be better if we didn’t go. So it’s best if you didn’t go anyway.”

Uraraka smiled. “Thank you. I needed to hear that. Y’know, I came here instead of my usual spot because I think Iida would’ve started lecturing me about how it’s not ideal for a hero to be afraid.”

“I don’t really like Iida.”

Uraraka giggled at that comment. “The whole class knows that.”

“Yeah, well I’m not exactly hiding it.” Chuuya said, grinning. “I’m sure lots of heroes have their fears. If I become a hero, my fear would be working with him.” They both snickered quietly.

“Agh, I feel bad for laughing at that! Alright, no more trash-talking!”

“Okay, ‘mom’.” Chuuya took a few seconds to process his words. ‘Wait. Aren’t I like… three years older?’

“Aren’t you older than me? You’re born in April.”

“Uh… yeah, but you’re scolding me like a mom.”

Ring!

“Ew. We have class again.” Chuuya sighed. “I might drop out,” he says, jokingly.

“Don’t you dare! School is not that bad! C’mon, let’s go.”

-

All Might stood in front of the class, hands on his hips. “Welcome back to Combat training! You’ll be doing 3-on-3 today! Now, if you look around, you’ll notice that the area we are in is more natural! There are cliffs and a large amount of trees. Of course, the environment can be an obstacle to some, but you should always try to use it to your advantage! To avoid major injuries, your teammates will be chosen by us, instead of it being random. Now, please wait while we hand out your teams..”

  1. Uraraka, Asui, Aoyama
  2. Midoriya, Nakahara, Bakugo
  3. Kaminari, Jirou, Yaoyorozu
  4. Kirishima, Shoji, Koda
  5. Todoroki, Iida, Mineta
  6. Tokoyami, Hagakure, Mina
  7. Sero, Sato, Ojiro.

Chuuya crushed the papers in his hands, digging holes into it with his fingers. “All Might, what the fuck is this bullshit?” Chuuya glares at him. ”Katsuki fucking Bakugo?!? Are you ignoring the obvious hatred we all have for each other? I mean, I don’t have anything against Midoriya, but Bakugo clearly does! This is generally the worst possible team.” Bakugo shows his clear dissatisfaction while Midoriya starts fidgeting with his fingers anxiously. Too much of a fanboy, Midoriya doesn’t have the heart to suggest a different team. Clearly, no one in this group is enjoying this.

“Yeah! I have to be with not only Deku but fucking Shrimpy!”

“Shut the fuck up!!”

All Might clears his throat. “Calm down!” He says, attempting to break up the argument. “When you become heroes, you’ll have to work with people you may dislike! To protect everyone, you’ll have to put your past arguments aside, and work together!” Midoriya gives a defeated sigh while smoke is practically coming out of Bakugo’s ears. “Alright, now let’s begin!”

-

“So it’s basically the same thing as two days ago but more in the open?”

“You slow, or something?” Bakugo snarled.

“Does that mouth ever close?”

“Why don’t you find out?”

“Uhh, guys..? We need to work as a team…” Midoriya stutters.

“No one asked, Shitty Deku!”

“Kill yourself. (Wait, no... Wait, yes.) Kill yourself.” ‘Damn. Whenever I say that I have to take it back because of Dazai. Practically a habit now.’ “Let’s just start,” Chuuya says, waving Bakugo away. “Who are we against? Kaminari, Jirou, and  Yaoyorozu?”

Midoriya nervously tapped his foot. “Y-yeah.”

“Okay, so since we’re in an open space, Jirou’s quirk won’t be as useful as in a closed area, but they can still locate where we are. When we do encounter them, we’ll just fight, I guess.”

Midoriya had his hands in a fist, slightly covering his mouth. He seemed to be in deep thought. “I think since Nakahara’s quirk can’t affect Kaminari’s or Jirou’s, he should go against Yaoyorozu. I could fight Jirou while Kacchan fights Kaminari, or vice versa.”

“Hah?! Why should I-”

“Yeah, Kacchan~” Chuuya said, dragging out the ‘a’. “If you have a better plan, please tell us!”

“Tch! Don’t call me that!”

Through his microphones, All Might yells, “Start!” After hearing that, team “no one likes each other” stands around.

“Are we waiting for them to find us? Or…” Chuuya says.

“No. Let’s get to a place where trees won’t block our line of vision,” Midoriya says, taking off in a random direction. Watching him run off, Chuuya and Bakugo stayed in place. Chuuya places his hand on his hips.

“We’re gonna fail this class if you continue to sulk. C’mon, you can talk shit after this.”

Chuuya dashes after Midoriya. Bakugo pouts, but still follows. After they catch up to Midoriya, they notice that they are next to a mountain, with fewer trees. Gazing at the height of the mountain, Chuuya questions what Midoriya is planning. With inhumane hearing abilities, Chuuya notices three footsteps approaching.

“Oi. They’re coming,” Chuuya notified his teammates.

“How do you know?” Bakugo sasses, arms crossed.

“Because I can fucking hear them. Now shut up.”

Then, ribbons of tape came streaming towards them. Skillfully, Chuuya dodges them all. He dashes towards the trees and climbs them for a height advantage. On the branches, he scouts for the opponent's locations. As he spots them, he turns to Midoriya and Bakugo.

“They’re on your left!” he says, dropping down from the tree. Yaoyorozu dashed towards Midoriya and Bakugo and tossed a stretchy version of capture tape onto them. Bakugo dodges but Midoriya gets his leg caught. He yanks his leg back, pulling Yaoyorozu forward. She lets go, but Chuuya comes from behind and sweeps her legs so that she trips. She yelps as she hits the ground. Jirou plugs her headphones into the speakers on her legs and creates large sound waves, aiming for Midoriya. Yaoyorozu flips back onto her feet and races towards the trees.

“Kaminari, Now!” she shouts. Upon hearing this, Chuuya glances towards his group. Midoriya took a guess at what the cue was for and dashed up a tree, copying what Yaoyorozu said did. Chuuya noticed an electrical surge that emerged from Kaminari’s hands. ‘Oh.’ At the realization, he flashed his eyes towards Bakugo who was obliviously focused on trying to explode Kaminari. ‘Shit! Bakugo’s weak ass won’t stay conscious from the electric shock!’

Chuuya sprinted towards him. “Bakugo! Are you fucking slow?!” Chuuya slides across the floor and places his foot at an angle where Bakugo’s trajectory path would land him on a tree. As the branch slams Bakugo in the stomach he coughs.

“What the-" he starts.

“Now I can be strong!” Kaminari yells.

Zap!

As the electricity burns his skin and some nerves, Chuuya’s eyes roll back. His mouth opened and let out a shaky breath of smoke. Steam particles rose from his body and sparks lingered around his limbs. Tingling pain and numbness overwhelmed his body and he dropped to his knees with a thud. Quickly trying to recover, he forced himself to stagger to his feet. Blinking his eyes back into place, he covered his mouth with his hand and coughed. “…Fuck.” he groaned.

“Strong, my ass!” Jirou screams to no one in particular. “He’s still conscious! And now we have a brain-dead teammate!”

Having a limp and a stinging feeling all over, he dashed to Yaoyorozu and tackled her with capture tape. “Stop slacking!” he shouted to his group. Bakugo jumped down and sent a small explosion to Jirou. The smoke resulted in Jirou getting blinded and Bakugo quickly wrapped her in capture tape. Chuuya sighed and quickly slapped some tape onto the brain-dead electrician.

“Victory to Team Two!” All might hollered through his microphone. “Come back to the maintenance room!”

Bakugo turned to Chuuya. “Why the fuck did you do that? I could’ve handled it.”

Chuuya let out a soft chuckle. “If it weren’t for me, your sorry ass would’ve been unconscious!”

“No I wouldn’t,” he denied.

“Pshh! Whatever helps you sleep at night,” Chuuya waved him off, grabbing Kaminari with one hand and flinging him over his shoulder. They all trudged back to the class.

The two groups reunited with 1-A. Chuuya notices that this time, Aizawa was also watching.”Great job!” All Might said with a booming voice. “Do any of you need to visit Recovery Girl?”

“You all should check up with her,” Aizawa says. “Just in case.” He drops a clipboard onto a table. “You all follow me.” He says, pointing at the group. “All Might, don’t do anything stupid.”

-

“Nakahara-kun. Give me Kaminari-kun. I’ll hold him.” Chuuya slides Kaminari off his shoulder and hands him to Aizawa. Aizawa grabs him by the back of his shirt, like how a cat would hold her baby.

As they walk, Jirou says, “Should you be holding him like that?”

“I’m sure it’s fine. Alright, we’re here.”

Recovery Girl spins her chair around to see the guests. “I see a familiar trio of self-harmers.” she groans.

“Nakahara-kun, you go first.” Aizawa says. Chuuya groaned and plopped down on the seat next to Recovery Girl.

“This was technically all Bakugo’s fault. If he wasn’t filled with so much anger, I’m sure that he could’ve avoided Kaminari’s attack himself, instead of me having to take care of his ass.” Chuuya claimed.

“Hah?! Then maybe you should’ve let me get shocked!”

“Stop,” Aizawa interrupted. “Instead of trying to get injured, you should just try to avoid the attacks as much as possible. Bakugo-kun, we have to work on your anger issues. Nakahara-kun, stop fueling the flame. End of discussion.”

“Tch.”

Chapter Text

I am Aizawa Shota. My quirk is Erasure and my hero name is Eraserhead. I’ve been a hero since I graduated from UA and I was forced to be a teacher around 8 years ago. While my students are always problematic, this year’s batch of students are quite interesting.

Midoriya Izuku, the kid I was planning on dropping out, is more observant than he looks. His analysis skills can definitely help him through battle and assist others when it comes to observing new villains. Though he can’t handle his power, I’ve decided to let him stay. If he shows no improvement, I’ll have to expel him. I’ve also noticed that he is quite… self-destructive. Even though his quirk is the one doing it, he’s quite careless.

Bakugo Katsuki and Midoriya are both from the same junior high school. Aldera. They are both the first students to attend UA from Aldera and they most certainly do not have a great relationship. With Bakugo’s violent attitude and Midoriya’s pushover trait, I believe that Bakugo had bullied Midoriya. I’ll have to work on fixing that problem. Bakugo’s anger issues give him a lack of surroundings and have him focused on only a specific thing. Of course, that has its pros and cons. Oblivious to surroundings and having such a destructive quirk, it’s bound to cause a large amount of property damage. This is a trait similar to Endeavor’s. If I’m being honest, Endeavor is a bad hero. In fact, there are lots of horrible heroes. Seeing him fight, I think it’s reasonable to think that he caused more destruction than the villains.

Though some of them are thankfully normal, some of them are quite the individuals.

Oh.

And then there’s Nakahara Chuuya. To put it short, he’s abnormally skilled. I wasn’t there at the first combat training, so based on today and the results of the first one, he is quite resilient. Two days ago, he came into Recovery Girl with third-degree burns all over his body. I’ve encountered someone with a fire-related quirk and I did not enjoy the experience. However, Nakahara seemed to just clench his jaw, and act unbothered. I hope that it isn't the case that he’s been through this situation before. For today, he got electrocuted at a high voltage. I know some- a lot of heroes that would've passed out after such an incident. It’s insanely confusing. I’d say it’s reckless, yet he seems to know what he’s doing. Honestly, that doesn’t make it better. If he knows that he can handle such pain, it spirals me into an endless amount of questions.

Chuuya yawned, slouching on the chair, waiting for everyone else to get healed. Yaoyorozu, Jirou, and Midoriya weren’t hurt that badly so they went back to class. Bakugo has a minor injury that didn’t need Recovery Girl’s quirk, but still needed to be treated. Kaminari was incapable of thinking, so it was decided that he’d just stay in Recovery Girl’s room until he regained his senses. “Nakahara. You can go back to class.” Chuuya got up from his chair and stretched. Covering his mouth to yawn again, he headed out the door.

“Thank you, Recovery Girl.” Chuuya said, opening the door.

“You’re welcome.” she said as the door closed with a click.

Trudging back to the maintenance room, Chuuya arrived when the last group’s fight began. It was Kirishima, Shoji, Koda, and Sero, Sato, and Ojiro. At random, Kirishima, Shoji, and Koda were chosen to go a second time. “Nakahara! You’re back!” Uraraka said gleefully.

“Mhm,” he confirmed. “Did your team win?”

“Yup! It was a close battle, though. Everyone is so strong! I hope I’m capable of keeping up with everyone else!”

Chuuya hummed. “I’m sure you got this.”

Chuuya turned his attention to the monitors. Tape stuck to every tree branch and indents in the floor were present. Many animals were gathered at the scene. Most likely due to Koda’s quirk. Sato charged at Kirishima with a fist. He reeled his arm back and shot his fists at Kirishima. Kirishima raised his arms to block the attack. He uses his quirk to harden his skin, making it harder for Sato to get through. Birds flew across the place, carrying the capture tape in their beaks, attempting to catch someone. Sero and Shoji had already been captured. Koda is nowhere near the group conflict, yet he uses the animals around to help. In Chuuya’s opinion, Koda’s quirk is useless in an area with no animals. Maybe he’d be a hero as a side gig. Kirishima finally managed to land a hit on Sato, knocking him back a bit. Unfortunately, Sato’s quirk has its drawbacks, and he starts to lack intelligence. Using this to his advantage, Kirishima finally wrapped capture tape around Sato. It was now a 2 vs 1. With animals constantly swiping at him and Kirishima actively attacking him, Ojiro would certainly not last.

“That’s unfortunate.” Chuuya sighed. He sank down to the floor and crossed his legs together. Ojiro eventually caved in and was spiraled with capture tape.

“Victory to Team Four!” All Might yelled. “Meet back at the maintenance room!”

-

“Rescue training?!” The class gasped.

“Yes.” Aizawa confirmed. “It’s optional if you want to wear your hero costume. The training will take place off-campus, so we’re taking a bus. That’s all. Start getting ready.”

Chuuya dragged himself out of the chair and followed the rest of the class.

-

“Eh? You’re both wearing your PE clothes? Where’s your costume?” Uraraka asks Chuuya and Midoriya.

“O-Oh! Mine got a bit damaged…” Midoriya says, fidgeting his fingers.

“Mine was burnt by someone .” Chuuya glares at Bakugo.

“Class 1-A, gather round! Form two lines by your student numbers in order to make boarding the bus go smoothly!” Iida commands. When they entered the bus, the seats were facing each other, so there was no point in lining up.

“I say what comes to mind.” Asui informed. She turns to Midoriya. “Midoriya.”

“Uh, yes, Asui?”

“Call me ‘Tsu’. Your quirk is similar to All Might’s.”

“Huh?!” Midoriya jumps and starts sweating profusely. “Y-Y-You think so?” he stutters. “But I’m… uh…” ‘Well isn’t that suspicious?’ Chuuya narrows his eyes.

“Wait a sec, Tsu, All Might doesn’t get hurt when he uses his quirk,” Kirishima said. ‘Yeah, but he’s got a bony version of himself.’ “They just kind of look the same.” Midoriya let out a sigh of relief. “But it’s nice to have a simple augmenting-type quirk. You can do lots of flashy stuff!” And then they started rambling about quirks, so Chuuya tuned them out.

“We’re here. Stop messing around.” Aizawa says. Chuuya stares out the window. A large structure in the shape of a dome was outside.

-

“Everyone, I have been waiting for you.” said a hero who is introduced as the Space Hero, Thirteen. Uraraka's eyes sparkled with joy. “This is a special kind of training ground. There are multiple areas to practice different kinds of scenarios. Shipwrecks, landslides, windstorms, fires, etcetera. It is a training ground that I created to replicate different kinds of accidents and disasters.” Thirteen tosses his arms up. It’s called the ‘Unforeseen Simulation Joint!’ Or ‘USJ’ for short.”

“Thirteen, where is All Might? He was supposed to meet us here.” Aizawa asks.

“About that..” Thirteen and Aizawa start whispering, so Chuuya isn’t able to hear. Chuuya notices that Thirteen holds up three fingers. ‘Is that a code?’

Aizawa coughs into his fists. “Shall we begin?”

“Uhm… I have to tell you one thing. Or two. Maybe three.. five..six...seven. I’m sure you all know my quirk, Black Hole. I can suck up anything and turn it to dust.” ‘Huh. Dazai told me I could do that during Corruption.’

Chuuya wasn't paying that much attention to whatever speech Thirteen had, but he got the gist of it: the powers they had were dangerous. It doesn't matter if they had good intentions, if they hurt someone, they will be blamed. Of course, these kids would hate if they harmed those they were meant to protect, but Chuuya doesn't get many jobs where has to keep someone safe. Mori puts him in charge of parts of the black market, mainly because he knows Chuuya won't just run away with the money, and also because Mori knows Chuuya can problem-solve whatever happens. When there's a complication, Chuuya deals with it, not caring much about the surroundings. He'll literally tear up the floor to have something to throw at the enemy. If people happened to be in his way, he wouldn't use them as meat shields or something, but they aren't high enough on his priority list to try to protect.

Suddenly, all the lights started flickering off, one by one. A black portal with purple around the edges, formed in the center of the USJ. A hand emerged from the portal, and slowly, more and more people entered. Chuuya sees a strange man covered with hands grabbing his limbs. But the hands were cut off at the wrists. There was even a hand covering his face. Chuuya knows he’s someone important. He was in the mission details. Shigaraki Tomura. Otherwise known as Shimura Tenko. It is said that he is the leader of the “League of Villains’. Chuuya finds the name atrocious and basic. League of Villains? Where’s the originality?

“Thirteen, protect the kids.” Class 1-A mutters in confusion.

“Is the training beginning?” someone questioned. Midoriya steps towards the commotion.

“Don’t move,” Aizawa said, shifting his goggles to his eyes. Chuuya assumes that it helps his quirk and that he’s going to fight them. “Those are villains .” Everyone inhales sharply.

‘Ah. They must be the ones who destroyed the gate a few days ago.’

“The sensors aren’t working,” Todoroki says.

“Thirteen. Start the evacuation process. Try to contact the school. If they can shut off the sensors, they’ll probably try to cut off all communication.” Aizawa jumps to the crowd of villains.

“Who’s this guy? I thought only Thirteen and All Might would be here?” Aizawa proceeded to use his capture scarf to restrict the villain’s movement. He controlled the scarf so that it would make them crash into each other. As multiple individuals tried to land a hit, he deflected them all and made a counterattack. ‘Not bad. He’s like a more physically active Dazai. Minus the abnormal intelligence.’

“I bet you can’t erase the quirks of mutants!” A large purple man with two extra arms yelled.

“No, I can’t.” Aizawa responded, dodging the punches. He smashes his fists into the villain’s face, knocking him back a distance in the air. He uses his capture scarf and grabs his legs and yanks him back. He uses the villain’s body to crash into the other thugs.

‘Since he’s hiding his eyes with his goggles, the villains can’t know whose quirk he's erasing. It’s good to make teamwork harder.’ A girl with floating hair notices her quirk had stopped working. Getting distracted, Aizawa had an opportunity to take her down.

“Aizawa’s so strong…” Midoriya mutters.

“Now's not the time to analyze! Hurry up and take shelter!” Iida shouts.

Arriving at the exit, the purple-black portal opened in front of them. “I won’t let you,” it says. “Nice to meet you. We are the League of Villains. In order to have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, take his last breath, we had to resort to infiltrating.” ‘It’s sentient? Tough luck. All Might’s not here.’ “I believe All Might should’ve been here. Has there been some kind of change?” Bakugo and Kirishima dashed out to attack him. With the explosion’s smoke covering everyone’s line of vision, it is unclear if the portal man is still standing. The smoke cleared up and this time, the portal had metal, covering a body part. Presumably the neck.

“No! Move away, you two!” Thirteen shouts.

“My job is to scatter you all and torture you to death!” The man said, the fog expanding, creating a dome that covered everyone. Then suddenly, Chuuya fell from the sky, onto a building. Luckily, the distance from falling down wasn’t much, so Chuuya didn’t break any bones.

“What the fuck is going on?!” someone snarled. Chuuya looked around. Oh. It’s Bakugo. Kirishima was also there with them.

“They’re here!” some thugs shouted. Chuuya, Bakugo, and Kirishima quickly jumped to their feet to defend themselves.

Chuuya was so tempted to toss them off the building, but “that wouldn’t be heroic”, so he resisted the urge. Bakugo blasted his explosive punches into their faces and repeated the process. “Tch! So many fucking extras!” Bakugo scowled, bursting more explosions in the underling’s face. Kirishima hardened his forearms to use as a shield and hardened his fists to make his punches deal more damage. Being punched by him would probably feel like constantly getting rocks thrown at you. Chuuya… Well, every time he touches someone, he just instantly sends them to the ground. After all the pests were down, they gazed down the building.

“This is the Collapse Zone, right? So this building is fragile and taking the stairs isn’t the best solution. How do we get down?” Kirishima asked.

“Reinforcements are probably coming, so we better decide quickly,” Chuuya said.

“Can’t we just jump down?”

“Aren’t you just the smartest, Bakugo?” Chuuya said sarcastically, folding his arms. “Didn’t take you for suicidal.”

“I can just use explosions to shoot me up when I’m near the ground.”

“Okay? Then what about me and Kirishima? I doubt his hardening will do much and I can only make my fall worse. Y’know, for a hero, you’re not that good at rescuing.”

“Fuck off-”

“Get ‘em!” the reinforcements shouted.

“Actually I have an idea,” Chuuya said. “But the survival rate isn’t 100 percent…” ‘For them. I’ll definitely survive.’

“Don’t do it if it’s not-“ And then Chuuya activated his ability. ‘I’m sure it’s fine if I went a little over my limit.’ Then, the whole building came crashing down. With everyone inside it.

Aizawa was not particularly struggling. These delinquents were no big fish, but it was tiring. Fighting against an endless mob of people constantly coming at you was no easy feat. If he got a break-even for a second- he’d spend every millisecond checking on the students. His heart raced, knowing that they weren’t able to exit the facility and were stuck to fend for themselves. Aizawa felt a little relief seeing Todoroki being able to stop them with ease. His quirk was really powerful. Kaminari’s group seems to be fine. Kaminari is… not active in terms of intelligence. Continuing to obliterate the enemy, a large blast of destruction, bursted through everyone’s eardrums. “What the-!”

Aizawa turns around to see the commotion. The entire building had collapsed. A fist came charging towards him. Aizawa couldn’t be distracted right now.

Chuuya kicked a crumbling rock off of him. The debris particles created toxic fumes that were constantly being coughed out by Chuuya. Hoisting himself out of the crater he created, he started walking towards Aizawa and the villains.  From Chuuya’s previous research, Aizawa isn’t good with long-term battles. “Fucking extra, why the hell did you do that?!” Bakugo yelled.

“Who cares? We got down. Hurry up. Aizawa probably needs help.” Chuuya shuffled out of the crumbling structure. He broke a minimum of 3 bones.

Aizawa was already fighting Shigaraki. From the small amount of time that Aizawa blinked, Shigaraki had used his quirk to decay Aizawa’s elbow. His skin started crumbling off and his muscles were exposed. The arm that was affected went limp and Aizawa was still trying to defend himself. “Let’s just end this. Nomu! Get him.” Shigaraki calls. The large figure with its brain exposed started moving. Instantly, Aizawa was taken down, being crushed by the weight of the nomu. Blood gushed out of his head and pooled on the ground. Nomu gripped his arms and crushed his bones.

Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta watched in horror, as Aizawa’s head was brutally smashed. Shigaraki noticed them and started walking towards the trio. Petrified, they didn’t move an inch. Midoriya’s eyes slowly followed Shigaraki’s hand movement as he got closer and closer. Shigaraki placed his hand on Asui’s face to disintegrate her but nothing happened. Aizawa glared at Shigaraki, blood dripping down his head. Nomu bashed his head into the ground, knocking him out.

“Oi! Fuck off, Brainhead!” Chuuya slammed his foot into Nomu’s head, knocking it back. Using his ability he grinded it into the ground, not allowing it to get up. It tried to push itself off the ground, but Chuuya increased its gravity again, smashing it back into the terrain. The large body being crushed against the field left a large indentation in the ground. It opened its mouth and let out an inhumane scream. Its sharp teeth and long tongue flashed.

“That strength…” Shigaraki murmured. “Is he All Might’s successor?” Then suddenly, the entrance door burst open.

“I am here!” All Might shout out. Then, in a second, All Might raced around USJ, stopped the remaining mobsters, and yanked all of the students and Aizawa out of Shigaraki’s reach, while punching him. “Everyone, go to the entrance. I’m leaving Aizawa to you. He’s unconscious. Hurry!”

“Y-Yes sir!” Mineta stutters.

“All Might! You can’t!”

“Young Midoriya! It’s fine!” All Might gave his usual smile and held up a peace sign.

Chuuya tossed Aizawa over his shoulder and carried him like how a fireman would. Warm blood leaked onto Chuuya’s shirt and Chuuya started trudging to the exit.

“Do you need help, Nakahara?” Asui asked.

“It’s fine, Asui.”

“Call me ‘Tsu’.”

Looking back at All Might’s fight, it was clear that All Might was struggling. His punches had no effect on Nomu’s body and Chuuya was starting to wonder if he should’ve held back more. All Might performed a suplex on Nomu, but then Nomu started digging its fingers into All Might’s stomach. Midoriya had some hesitation in his step and watched in fear. Suddenly, Midoriya started bolting towards All Might.

“Midoriya!” Chuuya calls out. “Tsu, carry Aizawa! Don’t touch his arms.” After Chuuya handed Aizawa to Tsu, he started chasing after Midoriya.

“All Might!” Midoriya calls out.

“Kurogiri.” Shigaraki orders.

“How foolish.” The portal spawns from the ground.

Bakugo smashes his hands into the portal’s neck. “Move! You’re in my way, Deku!” He grabs the shield covering the being’s neck and bashes it into the ground. “Take that!”

Todoroki’s ice starts spreading across the floor, latching onto Nomu’s leg, and infecting other body parts. Its grip on All Might loosened, and All Might flipped out of its reach.

“The Symbol of Peace can not be killed by the likes of you.

“You careless bastard!” Bakugo tells the purple fog. “You’re just what I thought you’d be. Only certain parts of your body can be transformed into a teleportation gate. The fog covers your actual body, right?” Kurogiri grunts. “Don’t move! If I feel any suspicious movement, I’ll blow you up!”

‘How hero-like.’ Chuuya watched from afar. It would be better if he didn’t do anything since he was too impressive to be considered a hero-in-training.

Shigaraki muttered to himself. “Nomu,” he calls out. Nomu started to move, breaking the ice that was attached to his limbs. Fortunately, his limbs broke off with the ice. Unfortunately, he continued to move. Out of nowhere, his muscles started growing back and his skin grew to reattach.

“What the- Was it’s quirk, not shock absorption?!” All Might gasped.

Shigaraki giggled to himself. “I didn’t say that was all it had,” he said, smugly. “This is its super-regeneration. Nomu has been modified to take you at 100 percent.” All Might’s hand twitched. “First, we need to get our exit back. Go, Nomu.” Nomu ran forward at a high speed, aiming to hit Bakugo off of Kurogiri.

“K-Kacchan!” Midoriya exclaimed. “Eh? You dodged? That’s amazing!”

“No, shut up, scum.” Everyone turned to see what happened. All Might coughed arms in a defensive position.

“Do you not hold back?” He questioned bitterly.

“Oh, but it was to save my companion,” Shigaraki replied. “The plain one over there tried to punch me with all his might!” he said, referring to Midoriya. “And the short one had really hurt Nomu,” he said, referring to-

“Who are you calling-” Chuuya growled.

“Why is it…” Shigaraki continues. “-that whenever heroes harm to protect, they get rewarded. But it isn’t that way for villains? You know what, All Might? I’m angry. I’m angry at this world that categorizes the same violent acts as heroic and villainous.” ‘Good thing that’s not a problem Yokohama has. Damn, I wanna go back.’

“It’s three against five!”

“No. You guys, go back.” All Might orders. “It’s not safe.”

“You would’ve been in big trouble if it weren’t for us,” Todoroki replies.

“That was a different story, Young Todoroki. Thanks. But it’s fine!” All Might’s hands form into a fist. “Just watch as a Pro Hero gives it everything he’s got.”

“All Might… You’re bleeding.” Midoriya lifts up his hand, trying to convince him not to go. “Besides, times-” Midoriya covers his mouth. All Might flick up his thumb.

‘Oh! There’s probably a time limit to his heroic form, due to his injury. It seems Midoriya is one of the few people that knows this. Did he find out by accident? If not, then why would All Might tell him?’

“Nomu, Kurogiri. Get him. I’ll deal with the children.”

All Might clenched his fists and dashed towards Nomu, reeling his arm back. As both of their fists collide, a gust of wind blows everyone back. Chuuya, however, used his ability to stay rooted to the ground. Chuuya slides around the field, touching his classmates, and then uses his ability to keep their footing stable. The constant punching continued.

“Its quirk is shock absorption, not shock nullification! Which means there’s a limit!” All Might’s fists started increasing in speed and trees flew back at the pressure. The beating continues until All Might smashes him into the ground from the air. “Hey, villain. Have you ever heard these words? Go beyond! Plus… Ultra!!!” All Might strikes Nomu in the face, bursting it out of USJ.

All Might gave a strained smile and a weak laugh. He mutters to himself, “I’ve really gotten weaker. In my prime, it would’ve taken 5 hits. But that took over 300!”

Shigaraki stares in disbelief. “I… can’t believe he did that to my Nomu! Did he use a cheat?! Kurogiri!” Kurogiri quickly attempts to teleport All Might, but Midoriya flashes towards him, aiming to punch Kurogiri’s weak spot. A portal opened and Shigaraki’s hand greeted Midoriya. Shigaraki’s manic laughter stopped as a bullet pierced through his hand.

“Are they here?!” All might exclaimed.

“Sorry, everyone! Sorry, we’re late!” Nezu shouts. “I gathered all that was immediately available.”

“Iida!” Uraraka squeals.

“I, Iida Tenya, class 1-A’s representative, have now returned!”

The thugs immediately responded with attacks. Present Mic inhaled and let out an ear-destroying “Yeah”.

“Holy shit!” Chuuya shrieked, covering his ears. “What the fuck?!”

“Aw, man. They’re here. It’s game over.” Shigaraki sighed, stepping towards Kurogiri. “Shall we head home and try again later, Kurogi-” A Pro Hero started firing bullets towards them, landing on all four of Shigaraki’s limbs. Kurogiri instantly blocked any more bullets from hitting Shigaraki, but then he began being sucked up.

“You- Thirteen!” he bellowed. Thirteen activated his quirk and began to absorb Kurogiri.

Shigaraki stared at All Might. “I might’ve failed this time, but I will kill you, Symbol of Peace, All Might!”

And then they vanished through the misty portal.

Chapter 8: UA Sports Festival

Notes:

OK so 2 years ago i was in a class with this girl (let's call her marcy) and i honestly never noticed her until she was in my class again last year. i only noticed her because there was almost no one else that was in my previous class. anyways, the only thing i remember from 2 years ago was that she hung out with another girl (we're gonna name her sam). marcy and sam sat together often and it seemed normal so i never noticed.

so last year, i hung out with marcy more, only after she started talking to me during lunch. she was kinda annoying but i felt that way with lots of people so i didnt mind. i dont remember when but another person started hanging out with me and marcy (name: amy) and basically, we hung out for a long period of time (almost the whole school year) and sometimes some other friends joined us for lunch. then at the last few weeks of school, marcy was called out for lying (said that her mom died but she actually was in a coma) and a big commotion happened between her and another friend (hannah). basically, the whole group broke up after that. then school ended.

this year, i didnt continue eating lunch with the group bc im bad at keeping friends. as im eating by myself, the friend group walks by me and i here "literally everyone knows you're a liar, marcy" from hannah. while i walk back to class i asked amy "wtf happened" and she said "marcy reported hannah for giving her 'weird looks'." so ive never been more grateful to be a loner. i hear more drama later that marcy had been spam reporting everyone, almost ruining their chances for getting into a good school.

me and sam were doing some project together and marcy somehow came up in the conversation. apparently marcy was controlling and rude so sam had requested to not be in the same class. so suddenly i dont feel bad for all the times i roughly played with her (i punched her daily last year).

so yeah

Chapter Text

Thud!

Kurogiri had teleported Shigaraki to a bar.“Sensei!” Shigaraki yelped, weakly. “You lied! The Symbol of Peace was healthy!”

“No, I didn’t.” A static voice spoke. “We just weren’t prepared enough. Yes, we underestimated them.” The TV spoke. “Sound only” showed on the screen in purple text. “By the way, what about Master and my joint creation, Nomu? It was not retrieved?”

“It was blown away,” Kurogiri answered.

“What?!”

“More precisely, without coordinates to its exact location. I could not find him. Not even with my warp. I didn’t have enough time to search.”

“After all we did to make him as powerful as All Might!” He takes a deep breath. “Well, I suppose it cannot be helped. That’s unfortunate.

“Power…” Shigaraki says. “That’s right. There were two children who stood out.”

“Oh?”

“A short one was able to blow Nomu back. Even with the shock absorption, he still made it knock back. And if the plain one didn’t get in the way…” Shigaraki gripped the floor, fingernails scratching the wood. “We might’ve been able to kill All Might. That brat… that brat! ” Shigaraki began to scream.

“Of course you have regrets. But this was not a futile exercise. Gather the elite. Take all the time you need.”

“This is all your fault, bastard!”

“Oh, fuck off! I got us down from the building and that’s all that matters!”

Completely destroying a building definitely caused multiple fractures, so Chuuya, Bakugo, and Kirishima were sent to the hospital. They weren’t allowed to go to the Recovery Girl’s office, which Chuuya believed was because All Might was there. Having nothing to do while sitting in a hospital bed, Chuuya put two and two together and realized that All Might is Midoriya’s mentor. Why is he his mentor? Chuuya hasn't figured that out yet.

“Be quiet.” A nurse scolded. “You’re here to recover, not to bicker. There’s a reason why we put you multiple rooms away from other patients.”

“Yes ma’am!” Kirishima said.

-

Back to the normal school schedule, everyone was talking about the USJ incident.

“Stop talking and sit in your seats!” Iida yelled.

“We’re already in our seats.” Sero pointed out.

“You’re the only one who’s not!” Chuuya piped up.

“Shoot!” He muttered.

Ashido leaned back on her chair. “Tsu! Who’s gonna teach homeroom today?”

“Well, Aizawa-sensei is supposed to be in the hospital recovering from his injuries.” Then the door slid open.

“Morning.” Aizawa muttered, face covered in bandages. Both of his arms were in casts and I doubt that it’s possible that he could see. ‘Now, he looks like Dazai!’

“Aizawa-sensei, you’re back too soon!” the class shouted.

“Sensei! Are you alright now?” Iida asked as Aizawa limped toward the front of the class.

“Can you really call that ‘alright’?” Uraraka murmured.

“My well-being does not matter right now. More importantly, the UA sports festival is drawing near.”

‘Oh. I’ve heard of that before. I watched one round out of curiosity. It was too boring to continue.’ Chuuya thought.

“Is it okay to have a sports festival so soon after the villains snuck in?” Jirou asked.

“What if they sneak in again?”

“Apparently,” Aizawa responded. “They think of it as showing that UA is still going strong, even if we were recently attacked.”

‘That is literal bullshit.’

“Besides, this is important for your career. Many agencies will be interning students. If you get invited, it’ll be good for you. Don’t slack on your preparations.”

“Iida.” Chuuya approaches Midoriya and Iida. “I’m gonna kick your ass! You too, Bakugo!”

“Hah!?”

Midoriya jumps. “So competitive!” He shrieks.

“Deku, Iida, Chuuya.” Uraraka says. “Let’s do our best at the sports festival.” She gave a dark aura that everyone in the class noticed. She slammed her foot down and pumped her fist up. “Everyone, I’m gonna do my best!” she growled.

“Yeah!” some people cheered.

-

“Eh?! You want to be a hero for money?!”

“Well… in short, basically, yeah!” she awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. “I’m sorry! You three have such admirable motivations and I’m just here for money!” ‘Port Mafia pays well.’ Chuuya thought.

“Well!” Iida coughs. “It’s perfectly normal to have a goal to provide for your life!”

“Ah, well my family owns a construction business… but we aren’t doing too well, so we’re just broke…” she clenched onto her skirt. “I’ll definitely become a hero and make money and let my parents live easier!”

“Well if you want to put it in a nicer way,” Chuuya suggested. “You can just say you’re doing it to help your family.”

“Hm, why did you want to be a hero, Chuuya?” Uraraka asked.

Chuuya’s shoulders shot up in shock. “Eh?! Uh- I want to be a hero because…” he trailed off. ‘Hold on. I planned this earlier. My backstory was…’ “I… remember seeing some corrupted heroes back in France. And so I wanted to become a hero to prevent not only villains but heroes who are irresponsible.” he lied through his teeth. “Dammit! How does Dazai make lying look so easy?!’

“Damn!” Uraraka curses. “I was kind of hoping that you also had some uninspiring motive so that I wouldn’t be alone.” She throws her head back and covers her face. Chuuya awkwardly pats her back.

‘Imagine if she knew the real reason.’

“Young Midoriya!” All Might appears from around the corner.

“All Might?! What are you doing here?!”

“Lunch!” he responded. “Wanna eat with me?”

“That’s adorable!” Uraraka squealed.

-

“The fuck?” Chuuya questioned. A large crowd of people gathered around Class 1-A’s room. “Oi, can you move? You’re in the way.”

“You’re too overconfident! You think you’re all that because you’re in Class 1-A?!” a random kid shouted.

“No, I mean I can’t exit because of you.” Chuuya sassed. “You’re blocking my path.”

A boy pushed towards the doorway of the class. “Y’know. Some kids didn’t make it to the hero course.” He had dark eyebags with wild purple hair. ‘This guy looks like a purple Aizawa! These people really need some sleep.’ “I’ve been told that depending on the results of the festival, the staff might consider a transfer to the hero course. And they might also transfer out.” He eyes the rest of the class. “If you’re too careless, I’ll sweep your feet out from under you. I came with a declaration of war.”

‘This guy’s confident. I wonder what he’ll do.’ Chuuya narrowed his eyes and grinned.

-

While everyone was training, Chuuya was stuck doing nothing. His usual form of training was doing missions. Other than that, Chuuya spars with Dazai (Dazai uses a gun) and Dazai occasionally wins. Tired of not being able to use his ability to its full extent, Chuuya started going mad. When he got to his apartment, he covered all his windows, triple-locked his door, and used his ability freely. Too bad he couldn’t fight with it. It was heard that there was a villain who went by “Hero Killer”. Chuuya didn’t think much of it though. Whatever happened wouldn’t become his problem.

-

The day of the UA sports festival finally came. Chuuya had no intention of winning first place, for that would cause too much attention. The fact that Dazai isn’t supposed to know of this mission itched the back of his mind constantly. Like an annoying ringing in his ear. A constant reminder. ‘Dazai can’t know. Mori said so. Dazai can’t know, Dazai can’t know, Dazai can’t know.’ Everyone changed into their PE uniform because their hero costumes might have some unfair advantages to them.

-

“It’s time for the first stage to begin!” Present Mic screamed to the audience. As all the students stepped out onto the field, the audience screamed in excitement.

“Time for the player pledge!” A dark-haired woman announced.

“It’s Midnight!” Midoriya gasped, sparkly-eyed.

“Representing the students is Bakugo Katsuki from Class 1-A!”

“Shit. He’s representing us?” Chuuya questioned. “We’re doomed. I bet he’ll say something like ‘I’m better than all of you’.” ‘He was probably chosen because he got first place in the entrance exam.

“I pledge… that I’ll be number one.”

“I FUCKING KNEW IT!” Chuuya shouted. “Uraraka! I literally just said that he’ll say something like that. Holy shit, he’s so predictable!”

All of the students started booing him and protesting against his claim.

“What are you doing, saying something so disrespectful?!” Iida scolded.

“Now!” Midnight yells. “We’ll start with a…” a wheel spun and landed on… “an Obstacle Race! All 11 classes will participate in this race! The course will be in the outer circumference of the stadium-about four kilometers! Now, let’s begin!”

-

Chuuya waited at the start line. He was in the middle of the crowd, but he’ll eventually get in the front.

“Start!” Everyone immediately started running.

“Okay, here’s the play-by-play! Are you ready to do the commentary, Mummy Man?” Present Mic said.

Aizawa turned to him. “You’re the one who forced me to come.”

“Let’s get started right away, Mummy Man!”

Everyone was crowded and kept bumping into each other. Constant shouting and arguments were heard. Todoroki instantly froze everyone’s feet and the ground. He began getting a head start and slid away.

“Tch!” Chuuya smirked. He used his ability to burst out of the ice. Wherever he stepped, he made an imprint on the ice so that he wouldn’t slip. Many others found their way out of the ice and started catching up. Mineta used his balls to jump past the ice.

“I got you now! Now, my special attack! Gra-“ Then, a robot that was from the entrance exam punched Mineta, sending him far off.

“Now, the obstacles have shown up!” Present Mic said.

Todoroki swept his hands from the ground, up into the air, creating a motion that brought a mountain of ice to the zero-point villain. After the faux villain was stuck in place, he dashed ahead.

“Todoroki from Class 1-A has elegantly taken down a zero-point villain in one shot!”

Chuuya didn’t feel bothered enough to display his ability or martial prowess. The League of Villains were probably watching this and he didn’t need any of them on his ass. Instead of fighting them, he decided to just dodge and run past. One of them attempted to crush him, but he dashed forward, trying to catch up to Todoroki. Bakugo blasted forward after both of them after exploding one completely.

“The first barrier was easy, huh? Then what about the second? ‘The Fall’! If you fall, you’re out! If you want to get past, you’ll have to crawl!” Present Mic cackled.

“You sound like a villain.” Aizawa notified.

‘Hah. This is child’s play.’ Chuuya smugly grinned. Chuuya’s ability requires lots of balance, so he practiced relentlessly. Gliding through the air needed more balance than you’d think. Chuuya trained for years to perfect his control over gravity. He needed the perfect amount of balance for how much gravity or how little is needed to defeat his opponents. He gracefully ran across the ropes, not bothered by the distance of the ground below.

“Woah! Nakahara from Class 1-A is skillfully running across! Does he not fear the fall?!”

‘I’m aiming for… 5th place.’ Chuuya tells himself. He starts slowing down his pace, subtly letting others catch up.

“It seems that Todoroki has reached the final barrier! What is it? It’s a… minefield!”

‘The fuck? Are they trying to kill these kids?’ Chuuya keeps track of who’s in front of him. He is currently in 6th place. He is also fine with that score, but that could always change.

“By the way, these land mines are for games, so they’re not that powerful. But they’re loud and flashing enough to make you wet your pants!”

Bakugo is spamming his explosions, keeping him above the mines. “This doesn’t affect me!” He glides above and across the minefield. When he reaches Todoroki, he also attempts to explode him. Bakugo and Todoroki attack each other as they try to pass the other. As Chuuya is currently 4th place, a large explosion, bigger than the others detonates in the back. A figure shoots out of the smoke, heading right to the finish line.

“It’s Midoriya Izuku!” Present Mic shouts, shocked. “And he takes the lead!”

As Midoriya loses speed, Todoroki and Bakugo catch up. Midoriya placed his feet onto Bakugo and Todoroki’s back and slammed his metal shield onto the minefield, propelling him forward again. He starts dashing forward again.

“You’re students are crazy, Eraserhead! What are you teaching them?!”

“I didn’t do anything. They got each other fired up on their own.”

“The winner of the first round is… Midoriya Izuku!” The crowd started cheering wildly.

“Here are the scores!”

  1. Class 1-A: Midoriya Izuku
  2. Class 1-A: Todoroki Shoto
  3. Class 1-A: Bakugo Katsuki
  4. Class 1-B: Shiozaki Ibara
  5. Class 1-A: Nakahara Chuuya
  6. Class 1-B: Honenuki Juzo
  7. Class 1-A: Iida Tenya
  8. Class 1-A: Tokoyami Fumikage
  9. Class 1-A: Sero Hanta
  10. Class 1-A: Kirishima Eijiro

And list went on.

“The top 42 made it through to the next round! The next game will be… a Cavalry Battle! Depending on your rank you have a certain amount of points. 1st place has… 10 million points!” Everyone stared at Midoriya. Rank 2 had 205 points. The jump from 205 to 10,000,000 was incredibly overwhelming. “Your team will have one person wearing a headband with a number of points. You can steal other players' headbands but it’ll be harder to manage. If the person holding the headband falls, your team is out! You have ten minutes to make your teams!”

Chuuya had 190 points. Everyone avoided Midoriya since he’d be targeted for having 10,000,000 points. Chuuya plopped onto the dirt. ‘Should I give up here? No one from Yokohama would notice if I stopped here.’ Footsteps scuffed through the dirt.

“Join my team.” It was the purple-haired guy from the general studies. Being a Port Mafia executive, information could be easily obtained by using his authority. Chuuya could basically know everyone’s quirk if he asked. Many people don’t know, but Port Mafia subordinates roamed around Musutafu gathering information. Yokohama was more out in the world than people thought. The guy in front of Chuuya could brainwash people and it was voice-activated. Chuuya narrowed his eyes, not saying anything. Being under control is not the best thing to do. If Shinsou Hitoshi told Chuuya to use his quirk, it wouldn’t work because he had an ability. However, if he said something like “defeat this guy”, Chuuya would be forced to use his ability and since Shinsou wasn’t specific about how to do it, there’s a chance that Chuuya would use gravity not according to his limitations.

Chuuya furrowed his eyebrows and stared at Shinsou. Shinsou eventually gave up and returned to his mind-controlled group.

“Two more minutes remaining!” Chuuya was still teamless. Most people already had their groups and Chuuya did not want to work with a bunch of strangers. With one option left, Chuuya dragged his feet.

“Oi!” Chuuya calls. “I’ll join your group, but I’m not having any of that brainwashing shit!”

Shinsou’s eyes widened, then narrowed. “So you knew about my quirk.”

“Well, my classmates aren’t lifeless.” Chuuya says, pointing his eyes at Aoyama and Ojiro. “You’re the rider, right? I’ll follow whatever plan you’re going with, but I’d like to be conscious of what I’m doing.”

“…Why would you still team up with me even though you knew about my quirk.” Shinsou asked. “Many people consider it villainous.”

Chuuya was somewhat surprised by this question. Chuuya let out an empty laugh. “The world’s really fucked up, huh? You’ve been discriminated against to the point where you expect it. Everyone is fucking crazy and they lack common sense.” Chuuya places his hands on his hips. “These heroes aren’t trying to find out why villains act the way they do. Someone in your position could easily give in and become a villain. Society itself creates what it fears.” ‘That’s why everyone in Yokohama hates the hero society.’

“You’re a lot different than what I originally thought you were.” Shinsou chuckled.

“Everyone will eventually say that about me.” Chuuya said, thinking about what would happen when the mission ended. ‘They won’t say it like that, though.’

“Time's up!” Midnight shouts.

Shinsou’s team had a total of 480 points. Chuuya was in the front, Ojiro was on the right, and Aoyama was on the left.

“Start!” Everyone started chasing Midoriya’s team. Someone from Class 1-B used their quirk to sink Midoriya’s team into the ground. Hatsume from the support class gave Midoriya a jetpack and the group ascended from the ground.

“Oi, Eyebags! What’s the plan?” Chuuya asks.

“What’s with the nickname?” Chuuya stays silent. “Calm down, I’m not using my quirk.”

“…I resisted the urge to call Aizawa-sensei that, so I’m calling you that.”

“…The plan is that we steal the headbands, then you use your quirk to knock them down.” Chuuya nods his head.

They snuck up on random groups from behind. Chuuya used his ability to send one of them down. The balance of holding the rider would be off, leading them to collapse. As they neared the flood, Shinsou quickly snatched the headband while they got disqualified. Then they repeated the process. And it seems like Monoma Neito from Class 1-B had stolen multiple headbands while everyone was focused on the ten million points.

Feeling desperate, everyone started running towards Midoriya’s team, who still had the ten million headband. Shinsou’s team tried to approach the ten million headband too, but only to take the other team’s headband while they were distracted.

Chuuya noticed a sheet forming out of Yaoyorozu. Chuuya immediately stopped moving. “Eyebags! Make your zombies step back!” Ojiro and Aoyama backed up. “Kaminari is going to electrocute everyone around him and I am not trying to get stuck in Todoroki’s ice.” As Chuuya said, Kaminari stunned everyone with a zap. “We probably have enough points to make it to the next round. Unless you want to risk it and get more.” Shinsou stopped to think.

Then a large commotion was heard. Iida had a burst of power and Todoroki’s team managed to steal the ten million headband! Bakugo and Monoma had quite the battle. After Monoma had stolen multiple headbands, Bakugo’s persistence fueled by rage resulted in him stealing all of Monoma’s headbands. Midoriya had pushed Todoroki in a corner and tried to punch his left side, which Todoroki noticeably disliked. Todoroki then used the fire on his left side to deflect Midoriya’s attack. Midoriya then snatched a headband from Todoroki! Unfortunately, it wasn’t the ten million one.

5…4…3…2…1!

“Time’s up!” Present Mic screamed in English. “Here are the results! 1st place: Todoroki’s team! 2nd: Bakugo’s team! 3rd: Tetsut- huh?! Shinsou’s team?!”

“Thanks for your involuntary help, Ojiro and Aoyama.” Shinsou walked off. Ojiro stood, confused.

“4th: Midoriya’s team!” Midoriya started bursting into a fountain of tears. “These four teams will advance to the final round!”

“Now we’ll take an intermission break!”

-

“The final round will be determined by a 1-on-1! We’ll draw lots to determine how the brackets will go. The 16 players can decide whether or whether they won’t participate!”

Ojiro raises his hands. “Um…! Excuse me. I’m withdrawing.” Everyone gasped.

“Ojiro, why?” Midoriya asked.

“This is a rare chance for the pros to see you!”

“…I barely remember anything from the cavalry battle until almost the end. I think it was that guy's quirk. I know that this is a great chance, but everyone here competed by giving their all! And I was under the influence of someone else, so I don’t feel that way.”

‘He should just accept the win. Who cares about fairness? Actually, forget that. These idiots do.’

Since Ojiro gave up, Tetsutetsu took his spot.

“Now, these are the brackets:”

Shinsou : Aoyama

Iida : Hatsume

Midoriya : Ashido

Sero : Todoroki

Tetsutetsu : Kirishima

Nakahara : Kaminari

Yaoyorozu : Tokoyami

Uraraka : Bakugo

-

Chuuya scrolled through his messages, sitting with his legs resting on the table. Mori had not sent him anything for a while. Did something happen? A subordinate of the Port Mafia had found Chuuya and Chuuya gave them his paperwork. He hadn’t heard back from Mori yet.

“Chuuya! You shouldn’t be on your phone! You’re next, y’know!” Uraraka calls.

“Okay- wait a minute.” Chuuya shifts his legs onto the floor. “When did you start calling me by my first name?”

“Huh. I don’t remember. Ah! I’m sorry! I should’ve asked! Sorry, sorry, sor-”

“It’s fine. It’s not that big of a deal.” ‘Everyone in Yokohama calls me by my first name so I never noticed. Even subordinates that I've never met.’ “Anyways, thanks for telling me.” Chuuya exited the room and started walking to the stadium.

“It is now… Nakahara Chuuya versus Kaminari Denki!”

-

“I can’t believe you beat me so easily!” Kaminari complained. “You’re really strong, even without your quirk.”

“Oh. Uhm… thanks.”

Chuuya sat at the class’ bleacher. Too bored, he stared blankly at the rest of the contestant’s fights. Midoriya won against Ashido, Tokoyami won against Yaoyorozu, Shinsou won against Aoyama, Iida won against Hatsume, Todoroki won against Sero, and Kirishima won against Tetsutetsu. Then came an interesting pair-up. Bakugo and Uraraka. While Bakugo constantly threw explosions at Uraraka, she didn’t give up and attempted to close the distance between them.

The audience protested. “Isn’t he going too far!” “Shouldn’t you stop them?” “Stop playing with her!” “This is so unfair!”

“There’s a booing from the crowd!” Present Mic narrates. “But honestly,” he whispers. “I also feel the sa-” Aizawa elbowed him in the face. “Ow! What’re ya doin’?!”

“If you’re saying that… there’s no point in you watching anymore, so go home! Bakugo is being careful because he acknowledges the strength of his opponent. He’s not letting his guard down.”

“Thank you, Bakugo,” Uraraka says. “For not letting your guard down!” Chuuya looks up. ‘Ah. So that’s what she was doing.’ “I’m gonna win!” she shouts, giving back the gravity of all the rocks she kept in the air. They all started showering down onto the stadium. Bakugo slowly raised his arms and a large explosion burst out of his hands, blowing the rocks away.

“Since you’re friends with Deku. I thought you’d be up to something…” Smoke sizzled out of his hands.

Uraraka dropped to the ground out of exhaustion. “M…y body won’t… do as I say…” Her arm moves a few centimeters. “No… I c…an still w..in…” she says, weakly. “F…ather…” Midnight approaches her.

“Uraraka is out of commission. Bakugo advances to the next round!”

Bakugo walks back to the bleachers.

“Hey, Bakugo! That was tough, huh? Playing the bad guy.”

“Shut up! Be quiet!”

“But man, I can’t believe you were able to aim such a blast at a frail girl. I couldn’t help but hold back.” Kaminari crosses his arms.

“Who the fuck are you calling frail?” Chuuya growls from behind.

“Huh?”

“Ya blind or something? Did you not see the rock shower? What part of that is ‘frail’?” Chuuya kicks his foot up onto Kaminari’s shoulder. “I know damn well you wouldn’t win against that. You probably couldn’t beat her even if you didn’t hold back.” Chuuya laughed.

“Shorty’s right.” Bakugo agrees.

“Hey-”

-

Chuuya wandered around the stadium building. ‘I need to know more about All for One and there is clearly a reason why I was sent to UA instead of a villain organization. Someone probably has information here. Tch. If Dazai was here, it would make things a lot easier.’ Chuuya turns around a corner and almost burns into a man with fire radiating off of him. “My bad.” he mutters, walking around him. ’That’s the No. 2 hero. He’s the only one who is actively trying to be better than All Might.’

“What are you doing here?” he asks. Chuuya turns around.

“…Walking?”

“You don’t seem injured and you’re not heading towards the direction of the stadium. Why are you here?”

“I’m going to the bathroom.” Chuuya says passive-aggressively, giving an annoyed smile. “Goodbye.” ‘Tch. Fucking asshole. This is why you are below All Might.’ Chuuya walked away with haste and Endeavor eyes him suspiciously.

Chuuya came across a door with a window. He peeked inside and saw All Might and other spectators. All Might definitely had more knowledge of All for One than the Port Mafia. ‘It would be straight-up stupid if I just asked. He’d probably start questioning me. Or would he?’ Chuuya shuffled his hands through his pocket. He pulled out a crumpled scrap of paper and started scribbling a message on it. His eyes darted around the hallways, looking for any accidental witnesses or cameras. He cracked open the door quietly and used his ability to fling the paper at All Might. The paper grazed his cheek and landed on his lap. Opening the ball of paper, he read the note. He looked down in shock and slowly shifted out of his seat.

What did the note say?

𝒜𝓁𝓁 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝒪𝓃𝑒

(𝒞𝑜𝓂𝑒 𝑜𝓊𝓉𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒)

All Might transformed into his buff version and exited the room. When All Might shut the door behind him, he saw Chuuya, who was hiding behind the door. “Y-Young Nakahara! What are you doing here?!” He says, awkwardly laughing.

“I’ll get straight to it, who’s All for One?” Chuuya asks.  All Might’s shoulders tense up and his muscles tighten.

All Might began analyzing Chuuya, trying to find out if he was a threat. “Who… told you about this?”

“You’re answering me.”

“All for One is…” But then he hesitates.

“What? You haven’t told Midoriya yet, so it feels wrong to tell me?” All Might freezes up and his jaw drops a little. ‘I sent a report of everyone’s relationship status and Mori said that they had a mentor-student relationship. I still don’t know why he’s giving Midoriya special treatment. There’s no way it’s only because they have similar quirks.’ “I'll eventually find out about him. If you don’t tell me, you’ll only make it harder for me.”

“Why? Why do you need to know? …All for One is a supervillain.? He’s been a problem for multiple generations. He can steal quirks with no retaliation and one of those quirks allowed him to live for such a long time. I killed him four years ago.” Chuuya’s eyes widened. “Why are you asking about this?”

‘If he’s dead, why am I here?! Mori wouldn’t make a mistake like that. He probably survived. Somehow.’ Chuuya sucked his teeth. ‘How annoying.’

A large explosion shook the stadium, making Chuuya stumble. “The fuck?” All Might flung the door open and entered back into the room. ‘It was Todoroki and Midoriya’s turn, right? Their battle is definitely going to cause property damage.’

Chuuya walked with haste, going back to Class 1-A’s section. By the time he came back, Midoriya had five fingers broken, and his index finger was a little more purple than the others. Chuuya sat next to Uraraka and Iida. “Chuuya, where did you go?” Uraraka asked.

“...Exploring.” he responded. He looks at the battle. “I think Midoriya’s hurting himself more than Todoroki.”

“I’m not sure if it’s luck, but his plans always end up giving him good results, even if it didn’t go as he wanted.” Iida commented, remembering about the cavalry battle.

“I doubt it’ll apply here. Todoroki overpowers Midoriya in many aspects. Luck can’t help him here.” Chuuya says.

Whatever was happening during the fight was confusing to Chuuya. Midoriya was taunting Todoroki for some reason, which wasn’t like him. But then Todoroki started using fire and then everything clicked. ‘Oh shit. Wait. So the asshole I met in the hallway was Todoroki’s father. A pretentious Toddoroki probably doesn’t use fire in his attacks because of him and Midoriya probably said some motivating shit. You’re wrong, Dazai. I’m not stupid.’

The fight was interrupted by Cementoss, but in the end, Midoriya was blown back, out of the arena, indicating that Todoroki was the winner.

“After Iida and Kirishima, you’re going next, right?” Uraraka asked Chuuya. Chuuya looked at the screen that showed the brackets.

“Yeah. Tch. And against Bakugo.” he growled. ‘I should drop out here. Any higher would be too risky. Yokohama doesn’t pay attention to the UA Sports Festival, but it doesn’t hurt to stop now.’ “Thanks, I’ll head to the waiting room.”

-

“The next battle is… Bakugo Katsuki from Class 1-A versus… Nakahara Chuuya, also from Class 1-A!” Present Mic shouts.

Bakugo grinned, condescendingly. “Finally. I had a bone to pick with you!” He punched his fist into his hand, an explosion crackling out.

“I could say the same to you.” ‘Dammit. I don’t want to lose to him out of all people. I’ll just beat his ass, then forfeit.’

Chuuya repositioned his feet to give himself a stable grounding. Form is extremely important when it comes to fighting. If the core of your body is not centered, your imbalance can easily become the enemy’s advantage. If the lower half of your body is not secure, you can easily be swept out of position. One smack to the legs, and you could tumble to the ground.

“Start!”

Bakugo approached first by accelerating with his explosions. If Chuuya wanted to win, he could just use his ability to crush Bakugo and not let him get up. But, he didn’t want to win. So he wouldn’t do that. Instead, he dodges Bakugo’s attacks and waits to counter. Chuuya shows more hesitation to his movement than usual, waiting for Bakugo to get some hits on him. Chuuya grabs a handful of Bakugo’s hair, shifts his weight on his left leg, and slams his knee into Bakugo’s stomach. Bakugo gets blown back by the impact.

“A direct hit!” Present Mic narrates.

“Tch! Bastard!”

While Chuuya waits for Bakugo to make a move that is “lose worthy”, he starts to insult Bakugo.

The insults finally work when Bakugo pulls out an explosion as large as the arena itself.

‘I guess it’s time to give up.’ Chuuya dropped down out of bounds and earned a few first-degree burns.

“Nakahara is out of bounds! Bakugo wins!” Midnight shouts.

-

Chuuya felt a yank on his shoulder. “Nakahara! You looking down on me?!” Bakugo snarled.

‘Fuck.’ Chuuya took a deep breath, preparing to use his acting skills. “What are you talking about?”

Bakugo grasped onto Chuuya’s shirt. “I’m not stupid!” Bakugo growled. “You didn’t give it your all! I’ve seen you try harder!”

“You’re wrong, I did try my hardest. You just got lucky.” Chuuya flicked Bakugo’s hands off of him. “Don’t get cocky, now. I’ll beat your ass next time.” Bakugo clenched his fists and grinded his teeth together.

“Why the fuck did you do that.”

‘Tch. So persistent. Just take the win.’ “The villains from USJ are probably watching. An organized group like that is probably stirring up another plan. You can try your hardest to win, but just know, they’ll use that to their advantage.” What Chuuya said was the truth. Just not all of it.

“We’re gonna have a rematch and you’re going to put in 100 percent effort! I’ll kill you if you don’t!” Bakugo said, voice low.

“Tch! Yeah, yeah.”

-

“Hi, Chuuya!” Uraraka calls out. “You did so well!”

“Thanks.” Chuuya noticed an empty seat. “Where’s Iida?”

Uraraka and Midoriya looked at each other, then back at Chuuya. “He… had a family issue that he needed to attend to.” Midoriya said, not making eye contact with Chuuya.

“Ah. So it’s Bakugo versus Tokoyami now, right?”

“Yeah,” Midoriya responded. “I don’t think Tokoyami will win, though.”

“Really? How are you so sure?”

“Tokoyami’s weakness is light. Since the explosion contains fire, the light will repel Dark Shadow.”

Chuuya hummed. “That’s unfortunate.”

-

“Next is… Bakugo versus Todoroki! Start!”

Todoroki immediately shoots a mountain of ice at Bakugo. Bakugo escapes by creating a tunnel with his explosions. He dashes to Todoroki using explosions to accelerate. When he’s within range, he suddenly makes an explosion to the left, propelling him out of Todoroki’s right side. Whilst in the air, he grabs onto Todoroki’s hair and attempts to fling him out of the arena. Todoroki creates a wall of ice, preventing him from going out of bounds.

“Why are you holding back? Use your fire! If you have no intention of winning, then get out of my way!” Bakugo shouted. The stadium goes silent as Bakugo and Todoroki both don’t move. Midoriya stands up.

“Todoroki! Don’t lose! Do your best!!”

The ice that stuck to Todoroki’s skin started to melt off, emitting steam. Todoroki raises his left arm and fire blazed off of it. Bakugo grinned, insanely. Then, he blasted himself up and down, repeatedly. The constant explosions being cast resulted in Bakugo being swirled around an amount of smoke.

“What the fuck is that.” Chuuya stares at the smoke blankly.

Everyone prepared for the collision of both attacks but their expectations were not met. Before Bakugo landed his questionably crazy attack, Chuuya noticed that the fire on Todoroki’s arm died down. ‘Well, trauma doesn’t just vanish. Whatever Midoriya said must’ve made him realize something, but realization doesn’t mean healing.’

Todoroki was blasted back and went out of bounds. “Woah!” Present Mic exclaimed. “He added momentum and rotation to the huge blast he showed in his battle with Uraraka and Nakahara! But the winner is…” Present Mic waits for the smoke to clear up in order to declare who the victor is.

Bakugo was sprawled on the ground and stared in shock. “Huh?” Shock quickly turned to anger, though. “You put out your flames!” Bakugo growled. He slowly stood up and limped towards Todoroki. “Didn’t I tell you that there was no point?!” He grabbed the shirt of Todoroki’s unconscious body. “To get first place like this? Like this?!” he screamed. A pink fume emerged and Bakugo collapsed onto the ground to have a nice nap.

“The winners Bakugo Katsuki from Class 1-A” The audience cheered loudly.

-

“And now we’ll begin our award ceremony!!” Midnight shouts. From the ground, a rock emerged with the winners. 1st place was Bakugo who was strapped to the stage and was thrashing around like a wild animal. His arms were chained together and a muzzle covered his mouth.

“I’ve heard that he’s been like that since he woke up.” someone said. Todoroki was 2nd place and Tokoyami was 3rd. All Might arrived at the scene to congratulate the winners.

“In addition to Tokoyami, there is Iida who is also in 3rd place. But he left early for family reasons. The presentations of the” medals will, of course, be by this man-”

Laughing came from the sky. “It’s All Might!” the audience exclaimed.

“I have the metals!” All Might shouted. “Young Tokoyami, congratulations.” All Might put the medal through Tokoyami’s head, let it dangle on his neck, and gave him a hug. He did the same for Todoroki and had a quick conversation. “Now, Young Bakugo- This is too much.” He took off the muzzle and Bakugo immediately started yelling.

“First place like this isn’t worth anything! Even if the world recognizes it, if I don’t recognize it myself, then it’s trash! Everyone I fought with gave up but Uraraka! Nakahara dropped out on purpose, Tokoyami forfeited, and Todoroki didn’t use fire!” he snarled.

All Might smiled awkwardly. “Well, why don’t you take this med-”

“No! I don’t want it!” He thrashed his head around to avoid taking it, but All Might managed to force it into his mouth.

-

“Good work.” Aizawa told the class. “There will be no school tomorrow or the day after. I’m sure the pro heroes who watched the sports festival will want to recruit you. Rest well.”

Chuuya stretched and cracked his knuckles. ‘I’m glad that’s finally over.’ He stared at Bakugo who was still holding the fabric of the medal clenched in his mouth. ‘Hopefully, he won’t think about my reasoning too much. What a pain in the ass.’

Chapter Text

The crickets chirped constantly, leaving an empty, ominous feeling. Dazai’s shoes clicked on the concrete of the dark alleyway. Lights flickered uncontrollably and trash spilled out of the cans.  He cocked his gun ad pressed it to a subordinate's forehead. “ Maybe you won’t be such a failure in your next life. ” And he fired. As the subordinate's body dropped to the ground, blood pooled out of his head, creating a puddle. “What a pain. The Port Mafia is lacking useful lackeys.” Dazai stepped over the corpse and continued on.

-

The doors creaked open obnoxiously loud and closed with a slam.

“Do you need something?” Mori placed down his pen and intertwined his fingers.

Dazai gave Mori an empty stare, then a smile. “Why are you assuming I need something?”

“Hmm. Well then, why are you here?” Dazai stuffed his hands into his pocket.

“I don’t know what you're talking about.”

Mori sighed.

Dazai pulled Mori’s office door open, then turned around. “Where’s that painless death you promised me five years ago?”

“It’s in the process of being presented to you.” An obvious lie. “Dazai-kun, you’re not as good at hiding your intentions as you used to. Some isolation will do you some good.”

The sun started to rise and gleamed through Mori’s large glass windows.

Dazai stared at Mori. Red hues from the sun reflected in Dazai’s brown eyes. “Sleep with all of your eyes open,” he said, grinning.

“These papers are the agencies that are willing to intern you. Who you’ll be going with is your decision.”

“Hey, Mina! You were pretty close. You didn’t get any invites?”

“I know! It’s so unfair!”

“Oh wait. Before you pick,” Aizawa starts. “You need hero names. Make sure it has some sort of meaning to you. Or don’t.”

‘Hero names? Uhhh…’  Chuuya looked at the rest of the class. They were scribbling their ideas onto a sheet of paper. Chuuya stared blankly at his paper. ‘Damn it. Whenever I think of names, I can only think about titles from Port Mafia.’ Chuuya glared intensely at the paper. ‘G…ravity Guy? Fuck no. Uh. Shit. Sh…Sheep King. I hate this.’ Chuuya scribbled off all of his previous ideas.

After ten minutes, Chuuya was still nameless. Everyone had already begun identifying themselves one by one.

“My name will be Uravity! It’s Uraraka and Gravity combined!”

“Shoto.”

“Tenya.”

“Deku.” A few people gasp at that. “This name used to be an insult, but my friends gave it a new meaning,” he said with a cheerful smile.

‘That’s… somewhat concerni-‘

“You’re next, Nakahara!” Midnight called out. Chuuya grumbled as he trudged to the front of the classroom.

“I’ll be…” Chuuya stared at his blank sheet. He stood in silence for a minute. “Uhhh… Ssss… Slug?” ‘Okay, why the fuck did I say that?’

“Slug?” Midnight repeated. “Are you sure?”

‘I’m not staying as a hero anyway, so it doesn’t matter. I just want to get this over with.’ “I guess?”

“O…kay.” she said. “You- You wanna tell us the name's origin?” Midnight says, trying not to laugh.

“Uhh. It’s also an insult.”

“Great! Now you all have hero names!”

When Chuuya sat down, Uraraka snickered.

“What kind of name is that?” she whispered while giggling.

“Shut it!”

-

“Who are you picking, Chuuya?”

Chuuya scanned the page with the list of agencies. ‘I don’t really need help with improving my skills.’ “What happens to the kids who didn’t get an internship?”

Uraraka hums. “I guess… they’ll just practice by themselves?”

‘That sounds better than being bound to some strangers. But then again, if I get invitations but I don’t accept any, that would be suspicious.’ “I don’t really know some of these heroes, just pick someone for me.” Chuuya hands his sheet to Uraraka. As Uraraka skimmed through all the names, Midoriya looked over Uraraka’s shoulder to read the paper.

“Wow, Uraraka! That’s a lot of requests!”

“Eh? No, this is Chuuya’s paper. I think it’s because he put up a good fight with Bakugo!”

Midoriya put his hand on his chin and started muttering a rant. He stared intensely at the paper and many people in the class watched nervously.

“It’s a talent at this point,” Uraraka whispered to Chuuya.

Chuuya hummed in agreement. “Which agency did you pick?”

“Gunhead’s!”

“Really? Gunhead is a battle type, though! I thought you were trying to be a hero like Thirteen.” Midoriya said, broken out of his inner monologue.

“Yeah, but fighting Bakugo at the sports festival made me want to get stronger!”

‘Is it possible that I could go back to Yokohama?’

“Fuck, yeah!” Chuuya pumped his fists in the air.

-

“And there’s also this fucking bitch, who’s all about the rules! Ane-san, I fucking hate this mission!” Chuuya banged his head onto the table. He hugged a bottle of red wine like a teddy bear. His face flushed red from the alcohol. “Once this is over, I’ll crush Explosion Boy and that fucking dickhead!

“The time for that is far away, boy. Make sure you aren’t making any attempts during the period of the mission.” Kouyou said, blowing at her tea.

“This is all Dazai’s fault!” Chuuya growled.

“How so?”

“Because it is! He-” Chuuya took a large gulp of wine. “He’s annoying, so it’s his fault!”

Kouyou reached over to retrieve the wine that was in the grasp of Chuuya’s arms. “That’s enough for you.”

“Ane-saaannnn! Can I-” Chuuya stops to hiccup. “Can I take some back to Musutafu? I’ll die or I’ll end up killing someone if I don’t have any~”

“Do as you wish. Drink responsibly. We don’t want this mission crumbling down because you got drunk.”

“Mhmm!”

-

Every time Chuuya saw Dazai, he’d instantly run in the other direction. But of course, since it was Dazai, it was inevitable that they would encounter each other.

“Chuuuyaaa~ A good dog wouldn’t disappear on its owner~! I need to train you better!”

“Shut up! Stop calling me that! I’m surprised you haven’t killed yourself while I was gone.”

“It is quite a shame… Hey, the arcade opened a new game a few days ago, let’s go! I haven’t played it yet, but I bet I’ll still beat you!”

-

Dazai ruffles Chuuya’s hair while patting his head. “Such a shame, you lost another bet! If you ever quit the Port Mafia, you should not become a gamer.

“What the hell?!” Chuuya backed up. “Fuck off already!”

“Hey, Chibiko, you seem a little more on edge than usual. Is someone bothering you~?”

“Yeah, there’s this dick-sucking, glasses-wearing bitch-ass at-“ Chuuya stops, realizing what he was about to reveal.

Dazai rested his arm on an arcade machine and rested his cheek against his hand. He gave an encouraging smile. “Go on~”

Talking about Iida would definitely somehow give Dazai some clue of where he was and where he would be. A mention of someone who strictly follows the rules shows that Chuuya is somewhere that isn’t a part of the illegal part of society. “…at this… new bar I go to.” Chuuya lies.

“Really? And where’s this new bar?”

“It- Why does it matter?! You go to Lupin Bar anyways!” Chuuya kicks Dazai in the stomach lightly. “Fuck off!” Chuuya dashed out of the arcade. ‘Dammit! Why won’t he just give up?!’

“Hah… I was hoping he wouldn’t catch onto that.” Dazai sighed. “The only new information I have now is that there’s some guy with glasses that’s with Chuuya.” Dazai taps his fingers on the arcade machine. “Chuuya’s so bad at lying. There’s no way I’d actually believe that he’s going to a bar. So, I practically gained nothing from this.”

Ring!

Chuuya flipped his phone open. ‘Mori? Ugh, what does he want?’ “Yes, Boss?”

“Hello, Chuuya-kun. I request that you return to Musutafu by tomorrow.”

“What?! Why?! The internships end in 5 days!”

“I’ve been notified of a specific villain on the loose. This is an event that you are not allowed to miss. It is a catalyst for the villain society. Now, prepare for your departure.”

Chuuya kicked a hole in a nearby wall.

-

For the rest of his time in Yokohama, Chuuya had spent his time using his ability to its full extent. Unnecessarily, he used his ability to jump across buildings and crushed indents onto the floor as he walked. “Annoying Boss! As if one week wasn’t short enough! Two days? Fucking bullshit! Whatever is happening at Musutafu better be important!

-

When Chuuya left the train, entering back into Musutafu, it was the afternoon. Dragging luggage of personal items that he brought from Yokohama, he grinded his teeth in anger. The sky grew darker with each passing minute and soon, nighttime rose.

An explosion rang through Chuuya’s ear and he turned around to see a gust of smoke rising in the air. ‘So that’s the catalyst.’ Chuuya immediately started running towards the direction of the destruction. While on his way to the smell of burning flesh, a building beside him shook violently.

‘The fuck?’ Letting curiosity get to him, Chuuya went to investigate. He turned the corner of the alleyway, and a knife flung at him, centimeters away from grazing his skin, and pierced into the wall next to him. Instinctively, he yanked the knife out of the wall and turned around to see the commotion.

“Nakahara!” Midoriya shouts, surprised.

“What the fuck are you guys doing?” Chuuya shouts. From above, a man with bandages around his arms and a ragged cloth whipping through the air dropped down with a sword in his hands. He jabbed down, aiming for Chuuya’s head. Chuuya used his obtained knife to block it, redirecting the sword to his right. ‘So this is the ‘villain in the loose’ that Mori spoke of? He’s Stain, right?’

“Nakahara, what are you doing here?” Midoriya asks while Todoroki blasts ice at Stain.

“Why don’t you focus on trying to stay alive!” Chuuya swipes at the villain with the knife and gets a clean cut across his arm. Chuuya jumps out of Stain’s range and stands next to Iida. “Oi! What are you laying around for?!” he shouts.

“His quirk allows him to paralyze someone after ingesting their blood! Depending on their blood type how long the duration is. Type B is least resistant to his quirk.” Midoriya informed.

‘Fuuuuuuuck. What the fuck is this shit. Why am I so unlucky?!’ Chuuya must’ve had some kind of look on his face because Iida looked shocked.

“You’re Type B?!” he whisper-shouted.

“Shut up!”

Midoriya and Todoroki were constantly throwing attacks at Stain. Chuuya glanced at another person beside Iida. He was conscious yet sat, leaning on the building. Chuuya assumes that he was under the influence of Stain's quirk. Stain had then decided that attacking the people who weren’t able to defend themselves was the better decision. Chuuya quickly used the knife to deflect his attack. When the blades collided, Chuuya used his ability to increase the gravity of Stain’s sword. The sword crashed into the ground, denting the concrete. Chuuya immediately kicked Stain in the stomach, thrusting him in the direction of Midoriya, who then punched him in the face.

“…Sorry,” Iida whispered, on the verge of tears. “This was my problem and now you guys are in it.”

Stain licked his dagger and Midoriya stopped moving.

“I will kill all fake heroes!!” Stain announced, slicing apart Todoroki’s ice. Todoroki stayed at a distance, for it was too risky to be in the range of Stain’s blades. Chuuya fought with the knife that was conveniently given to him. He made sure to not be so much as grazed by the daggers in Stain’s hands.

Chuuya spoke in a low voice that no one but Stain heard.

“I’m worse than a fake hero.”

Stain’s eyes widened upon hearing that. Noticing that he lowered his guard, Chuuya swung his knife at Stain’s throat, but Stain recovered from the shock and blocked. Another surge of ice emerged from the ground and Stain shattered it with his left arm, still trying to deflect Chuuya’s knife. When he finally succeeded, Chuuya jumped back toward Midoriya and Iida.

“Ew, I sound like Dazai.” Chuuya cringed. “That creepy bastard…” Chuuya’s eyebrows furrowed, thinking about Dazai.

Stain started dashing towards Todoroki and his tons of ice was ineffective to keep him at a distance. Stain swung his sword, aiming to cut Todoroki’s arm off.

Stain’s quirk had then worn off on Iida. He pushed himself off the floor and immediately ran and kicked away the sword, keeping Todoroki’s arm attached.

‘Crazy timing. As soon as someone’s life is in danger, he magically gains control of his body. Why can’t I be lucky like that?’

“You will never be anything but a fake who prioritizes his own selfish desires. You give a bad name to heroes.”

‘The fuck? I’m missing some information here.’

“Todoroki! Can you freeze my legs without blocking the exhausts?”

Stain threw a knife at Todoroki but Iida raised his arm to block, the force pushing him to the ground.

While Todoroki froze Iida’s engines, Chuuya prevented Stain from interfering or harming the people who were still under his quirk. “What are you doing? Why are you pretending to be a hero?!” Stain whipped his sword around and made a large slash across Chuuya’s torso. Chuuya jumped back and clutched at his stomach, soaking up his blood with his shirt. Stain brought his bloodied sword to his mouth and-

“Good luck with that!” Chuuya activated his ability and Stain crashed into the ground with a red glow surrounding his body. The sword flew out of his hand and Chuuya grabbed it and immediately started wiping his blood off of it. ‘Such an annoying quirk. I do not feel like sitting around doing nothing.’ He then shattered the blade into shards, making it unusable.

Iida bit the knife piercing his arm and yanked it out. Blood trickled from the wound. Iida had then kicked Stain in the ribs. Stain’s eyes rolled back and stopped resisting. Chuuya then stopped using his ability. He leaned over Stain’s unconscious body, trying to see if he died. He nudges Stain’s arm with his foot.

“Is he awake?” Midoriya asks, limping.

“I don’t think so. Let’s find something to tie him up with.”

-

They removed all of the weapons that Stain held and laid it out on the floor. Chuuya twirled a knife with his finger. As they exited the alleyway, an elderly man rushed towards them and kicked Midoriya in the face.

“I thought I told you to stay on the bullet train!” The man shouts.

Iida looks at Midoriya, confused. “Who’s this?”

“Ah, this is Gran Torino! The man I’m interning with!”

More heroes started rushing towards them. “Endeavor instructed us to come here. Huh? Children? Those are some serious injuries. Call an ambulance!” Their eyes began to trail to the ground. “Wait, is that the Hero Killer? Call the police too!”

-

“Midoriya, Todoroki, Nakahara.” Iida bowed into 90°. “I apologize! If I wasn’t blinded by anger, you three wouldn’t have been injured.” Tears streamed down his face and dripped off his chin.

“No, I’m sorry. I failed to notice that you were bothered by this ordeal.”

Iida wiped his tears with his shoulder, still bowing. In the background, Endeavor was checking up with the heroes that came.

“By the way, Nakahara, how did you find us?”

“Oh. I just heard something and decided to investigate.”

“That’s-” A nomu with wings had then swiped Midoriya, grabbing him by the waist. The nomu had then started flying away, taking away Midoriya.

‘What the fuck.’   Then, Stain, who had awakened, started running, arms still tied to his back. The ropes stretched and ripped apart, freeing his arms. He jumped up, yanked Midoriya out of the nomu’s clutches, then smashed its brains into the concrete. ‘Damn.’ Endeavor stepped forward, preparing to fight.

“Endeavor… You fake!” Bloodlust bursted through his words. “I must make things right… Someone must be dyed in blood.” His intent to kill radiated across the street. He slowly stepped closer to the group. Everyone stared, petrified. Chuuya stared, amused. He resisted the urge to sneer. “I must take back what it means to be a hero!” He pointed at Chuuya. “You! I will-” Then, Stain collapsed.

-

The wound across Chuuya’s chest was deeper than he originally thought, earning him a spot in the hospital, in the same room as Todoroki, Midoriya, and Iida. Under the white shirt that the hospital gave, bandages covered his torso. Chuuya dangled from the side of his bed, waiting for someone to let him leave.

“Uh… Nakahara? Are you sure you should be lying down like that? What if your wound reopens?” Midoriya asked. Chuuya huffed and muttered some incoherent words. “And you’re still wearing your hat?”

The door flung open and a few footsteps clattered the room. Chuuya sat up to see who came and saw…

A human-sized dog dressed formally, entered the room. Chuuya was not exactly paying attention, but he said something about what they did was illegal and some other shit. Unfortunately, Endeavor took the credit for Stain’s defeat.

-

Chuuya left the hospital first, seeing as he was least injured.

Ring!

Chuuya jammed his hand in his pocket, looking for his phone. “Hi, Boss.”

“Hello, Chuuya-kun. I appreciate your willingness to supervise this event.” Chuuya stayed silent. “As a reward, I’ll allow you to come back to Yokohama.”

“Thank you, Boss.”

Chuuya sighed, shutting off his phone. “Traveling back and forth is tiring. Back to Yokohama, I go…”

-

In short, for the rest of Chuuya’s “internship”, Chuuya just did his usual work. He was instructed to keep track of the Port Mafia’s gems and jewelry, something he did during his first year with the Port Mafia. (He still never got over the fact that his previous job was Dazai’s leftovers.)

-

Two years ago, a Port Mafia member with a loose tongue spilled information on Port Mafia’s treasures and operations. Of course, they were dealt with the traditional death: a broken jaw and a bullet to 3 vital organs. Unfortunately, this has set the Port Mafia back for quite some time. It has been known that an auction held a dangerous poison that the Port Mafia had lost.

Three days ago, the Port Mafia executives and boss held a meeting regarding who would be tasked with taking back the poison.

“This shouldn’t be a difficult mission. In fact, this is a rather good opportunity to test a subordinate’s skills. Any suggestions?” Mori asked.

“The Akutagawas show potential. However, they could use practice.” Dazai spoke up. He sat on his chair with his legs crossed and his coat draped over the armrest.

“Gin-chan could use a little more work on her knife skills. How’s the other Akutagawa?” Verlaine asked, smiling with a hint of bitterness in his voice. He held a grudge against Dazai for deceiving him two years ago along with their other disagreements.

“He needs to improve on making his ability stronger,” Dazai responded.

Mori hummed. “We’ll send Ryuunosuke-kun.”

“Hold on.” Ace interrupts. “Why do we have to send subordinates? If he messes up, we’ll lose the poison! Why should we risk that?”

“It’s great experience. Y’know, you shouldn’t always think about money.” Dazai rested his cheek on his arm.

“It is important that the end result must be that we obtain the poison. Letting anyone else have it is dangerous.” Mori says. “Let’s send Chuuya-kun to supervise. Akutagawa-kun will be the one doing the job, but Chuuya-kun will be there for backup. If Akutagawa-kun messes up, Chuuya-kun will ensure that we will still have the poison.”

-

The participants for the auction whispered among themselves. “What’s your limit?”, “What are you looking for?”, “I’ll bet 100,000 yen minimum for that item.”

Chuuya and Akutagawa sat at the table closest to the exit. Akutagawa sat, legs together and hands in his lap. He stared at the floor. Chuuya sat, legs crossed and he rested his head on his hand. In his other hand, he swirled a glass of red wine. It was subtle, but Chuuya noticed a slight movement in Akutagawa’s foot. It tapped on the floor, quietly.

“Oi, Akutagawa. Calm down. Getting nervous will impact your performance.”

“But Dazai-san-”

“Aghhh! Who cares what that dickhead thinks? Listen, Dazai is just an asshole for no reason. Don’t stress about him.”

“…”

As time passes, the seats fill up and the auction house becomes crowded. With this many people in the area, no one would notice a few people disappearing.

“Hey, Akutagawa. Now’s a good time.”

“Yes, Chuuya-san,” Akutagawa said, standing up. He then started making his way to the backstage. Chuuya took one last sip of wine, slipped the glass onto the table, and then followed Akutagawa.

Backstage, there stood multiple people, monitoring the items. The poison was in a glass vile. The liquid is said to be thick, with a dark red tint. Consuming one drop is fatal, not to mention the agonizing pain you feel after consumption. As liquid trickles down your throat, you’ll start to feel a clog in your throat. The reaction to the poison is to prevent it from entering your stomach by all means necessary. Your body will move inhumanly. Your throat will start to close in on itself in an attempt to stop the poison’s movement. If the poison itself doesn’t kill you, the lack of air will. Mixing the poison in food is even more dangerous, for it becomes more spread out and easier to enter your digestive system.

“Chuuya-san, it’s not in this room.” Akutagawa notified.

“It’s probably somewhere else.”

Akutagawa entered the room where the guards stood.

“Who are-”

Akutagawa activated Rashomon and instantly pierced through the stomachs of all the people. Retracting Rashomon back, they all dropped to the floor. Blood pooled out of their bodies. Akutagawa then started scanning the room more thoroughly. Chuuya leaned on the wall. Chuuya was technically not allowed to help Akutagawa unless totally necessary.

Akutagawa rummaged and rearranged the surrounding furniture. Walking around, Akutagawa’s footsteps made a clunk. Underneath the floorboards was metal. Akutagawa used Rashomon to rip it apart. He lifted up the trapdoor and revealed a long set of stairs. Chuuya gazed down, hands in his pocket.

They walked down the stairs in awkward silence. The only noise that was heard was the clicking of their shoes.

“How’s your sister?”

“She’s doing fine.”

‘How awkward.’

“Dazai-san said that you’ve disappeared for a while. Where were you?”

“…You don’t need to worry about it.” Chuuya ruffles the top of Akutagawa’s head.

They finally reached the bottom of the stairwell. The room was smaller compared to the previous one. In the corner of the room, there was the vile. Akutagawa picked it up with care and examined it to see if it was the real one. After confirming, Chuuya held the glass for a second before returning it to Akutagawa, who wrapped it in Rashomon.

Suddenly, a gunshot rang. Bursting through Akutagawa’s right shoulder was a bullet. From the sudden pain, he lost his grip on the poison. Chuuya activated his ability, preventing it from crashing into the ground. Akutagawa clutched his shoulder, attempting to stop the bleeding. Blood dripped down his hand. The attacker still had his gun raised.

“G-Give that back!” he stuttered, arms shaking. “Or I’ll- I’ll shoot!”

Akutagawa shot Rashomon into the ground and it came back up, piercing through the guard. More footsteps were heard, clattering down the stairs. Reinforcements were coming.

“You got this? Or do you need my help?”

“I’m fine,” Akutagawa responded.

As the approaching guests arrived at the scene of the robbery, Chuuya stood back, allowing Akutagawa to do his work.

As Dazai said at the meeting, Akutagawa needs to work on his ability. Akutagawa’s initial plan was to use Rashomon to consume space-the skill he was forced to practice with Dazai-to block the bullets. Akutagawa wasn’t used to being simultaneously shot at, resulting in letting a few bullets slip by Rashomon. After all, that skill was still a work in progress.

“If it’s not effective don’t use it.” Chuuya sat on the ceiling, with gravitational force surrounding him. Any bullet that would come near, would instantly get shot down. “This mission isn’t for practice. You can practice your shield shit later.”

Akutagawa nodded in acknowledgment of Chuuya’s advice and switched tactics.

After the foes had been defeated, Chuuya returned to the ground. Akutagawa panted and wheezed in between coughs. He wiped the blood that dripped from his lips and stumbled, using the wall for support. One of the bullets that had slipped past Rashomon had landed on Akutagawa’s left leg, five inches below his knee.

Chuuya grabbed the collar of Akutagawa’s coat and tossed him over his shoulder and used his other hand to secure his legs.

“C-Chuuya-san?! Put me down! I can still walk!” Akutagawa protested, trying to push himself off.

‘Concerningly light… Does he eat enough?’ Chuuya thought. “Oh yeah? By the time you’re done limping up the stairs, maybe the police will arrive. Stop resisting.”

“...”

-

Akutagawa was sent to the infirmary to get the bullets removed and his injuries checked up on. Chuuya went to Mori’s office to deliver the poison.

“So how was Akutagawa?” Mori asked.

“He didn’t need much instructions and he acted quickly. I think the mistakes he made here would not happen again.” Chuuya reported.

Dazai stood near the window, gazing down at the bottom of the building, as if he was plotting something. “Hmm. I feel quite upset that you’d badmouth me to my subordinate.” Dazai approached Chuuya and patted him on the shoulder. “But I guess I’ll forgive you!”

“Hah?! I don’t care if you forgive me or not!” Chuuya spat, swiping Dazai’s hand away “How did you even know anyways?”

Dazai pouted. “Chuuya’s so mean,” he muttered, arms crossed. “It’s a secret,” he answered, grinning.

The two bickered until they reached the elevator. Now, instead of verbally abusing each other, they started physically abusing each other.

“You keep saying that you want to die, but it never happens!”

“Well, you keep saying you’ll grow, but I don’t see any progress on that!”

Chuuya punched Dazai in the stomach and he doubled over as a result. Dazai grabbed a patch of Chuuya’s hair and yanked it.

“Ow, you fucker!” Chuuya thrusted his knee into Dazai’s stomach.

“Stop hitting me in the same spot!”

“Why would I do that in your favor?!”

Ding!

The elevator had reached ground level and slowly opened to reveal…

…an unsurprised Kouyou. Both of her hands kept her vibrant pink umbrella stable, but one was left to pinch her nose bridge. “Can’t you two fight elsewhere? Do you need a recap of what happened the last time you fought here?” Chuuya and Dazai (who was still holding onto Chuuya's hair) replied with a grumbling “No”.

“I’m having a talk with Mori. Continue this somewhere else.” Chuuya slapped Dazai’s hands off his hair. He grabbed Dazai by his collar and dragged him out of the elevator. As Chuuya and Dazai exited the elevator, Kouyou entered.

“Asshole, that was all your fault!” Chuuya spat, tossing Dazai to the ground.

“Are you sure that you’re not lying to yourself?”

“Tch.” Chuuya stormed away. It was about the time when he needed to go back to Musutafu anyway.

Summary:

exams go kaboom

Notes:

srry for taking so long
☆⌒(> ▽ <)

ngl i have no excuse

anyways my literacy teacher was being a little bitch and told my parents that i was missing some work so now my parents think i have adhd. and even worse this teacher doesn't even show up 2/5 of the time so she shouldn't be saying shit.

also marcy from the notes in chp8 was a complete loner and my friend who was a grade below didnt know abt the drama so she hung out with marcy and i was forced to go with them. anyways i told my friend about the crazy shit and then she stopped talking to marcy. also marcy is so desperate for friends, the one time i was forced to hangout with her she thought we were friends again.

if you didnt know last year i punched marcy a lot as a joke so if i wanted her to stop hanging out with me, i couldn't just slap her to make her leave because she'll think that its normal. basically i ignored her for a week and then she eventually left me alone. also from the 30 minutes i was with marcy, some of my friends saw and they told me that they were going to ghost me bc i was with her 💀💀💀. i was kinda offended that they'd drop me so easily but ngl i wouldnt really care bc we werent that close

and marcy transferred schools a few weeks ago (yahoo) ✌️

Chapter Text

“So, it’s almost time for summer vacation.” Aizawa starts. “But it wouldn’t make sense for you to rest for a whole two months.” So, during summer vacation, we’ll have a training camp in the woods.”

The class immediately bursts into excitement. Chatter erupts through the room. Everyone begins imagining what it’ll be like. That is until Aizawa cuts their celebration short.

“Those who do not pass the final exam before that… will be in summer school.”

-

“Yeah, and then he was just being a bitch. So then-”

“You insulted him back?” Uraraka said, trying to complete Chuuya’s sentence.

“No? I started beating the shit out of him.”

“Ah. Very heroic.”

“Shut up. He deserved it.”

“Who even is this?”

“Some shitty dead-eyed Mackerel.”

“You’re beating up a fish? I expected better from you,” she says, sarcastically.

“Anyways, so then my sister scolded u-”

“You have a sister?!”

“Yeah- Well, no. I just call her that.”

“Oh, okay. So, how do you think you’ll do on the final exam?”

“Eh. I’ll manage.”

“Man, I wish I had your confidence.” Uraraka sighs.

“But you’re doing well academically.”

“It’s actually concerning how bad you’re doing.”

“Kill yourself.”

“You’re like… a calmer version of Bakugo.”

“I’m taking that as an insult. What the fuck.”

At the corner of Chuuya’s eye, he notices Aizawa’s sleeping bag zip open. He internally groans, knowing that class is about to start.

-A few weeks later-

“Chuuya? You’re going on the train as well? I thought you lived near school.”

Chuuya turns around to the familiar voice. It was Midoriya.

“I’m visiting a friend.”

“What are they like?”

“Annoying.”

“Ah…”

Midoriya didn’t continue the conversation, which he somewhat regretted, because the silence was awkward for him. After a few stops, Midoriya exits the train and starts heading home. Chuuya leaves at the next stop and boards another train.

“Next stop is Yokohama.”

-

Dazai isn’t the only one who’s skilled at breaking into apartments silently. That’s right. When Chuuya is supposed to be studying, he is instead breaking into Dazai’s home. Why? Because it’s time for Dazai’s annual gift-giving. In other words, it’s his birthday.

When Chuuya and Dazai give birthday gifts, it’s either something that implies inside jokes or the most disturbing thing you’ll ever see. There is no in-between. When Chuuya turned sixteen, Dazai bought him a collar and ranted for an hour about how it was because Chuuya was a dog.

Chuuya didn’t care that what he was doing might risk the success rate of the mission. This gift must be delivered.

Dazai is not often home. He doesn’t often sleep and when he does, he says “It’s too much work to walk back home”. He only goes home whenever he doesn’t have work. He sits on the floor and stares at the wall, drowning himself in his thoughts until Mori assigns him some work.

Chuuya attempts to unlock the door, but stumbles inside anyway, before trying. ‘The fuck? Does he not lock his door?’ Chuuya arrives at Dazai’s table and takes the gift and places it on the table. Yes, the gift is a dog plush. If you squeeze its paw, it barks, and if you tap its nose, the tail wags. Chuuya would’ve kept it for himself, but knowing that it would irritate Dazai, he would be okay with it being tossed in the trash instead. He scribbled a note saying “Happy Birthday 凸(¬‿¬)”

Chuuya was surprised that Dazai had lived so long. He didn’t often think about it, but when he did, he’d never thought Dazai would become an adult before killing himself. He’s somewhat proud that he’s lived this long. Hearing footsteps from afar, Chuuya dashed for the window. He swung his leg over the window sill, watching the door, praying that it wouldn’t open. With haste, Chuuya shut the window close as quietly as possible and dropped down from the apartment complex. Before his feet could slam against the hard concrete floor, he used his ability to stick to the wall. Knowing that Dazai would be irritated wasn’t enough. Chuuya needed to see it.

Dazai stared at the floor blankly as he trudged to his apartment. Death hates Dazai. The painless death that was promised by Mori would never come. Every attempt was interrupted or forcibly stopped. Dazai mainly blames Mori. Every time he was caught trying to end his life, he’d be brought to Mori and nursed back to health. It was insanely inconvenient.

Dazai pushed his door open sluggishly. Laid out in front of him was a horrendous sight on his table. A dog plush. Dazai’s face scrunched up, seeing the disgusting creature. A note sat beside the dog.

Dazai stared at the sheet as his mind overflowed with thoughts. ‘What a gross birthday present.’ Dazai instantly threw the plush into the wall and it bounced onto his frameless mattress. ‘Can’t believe Chuuya would be so inconsiderate of my feelings, giving me such a horrible gift.”

'I'm considering this as a successful birthday gift because he didn't throw it out the window or in the trash.'

-

“Chuuya… Can I ask you a question?”

Chuuya looks up from his paper to see Midoriya, standing in front of his desk. “I guess?” he responds.

“Are you holding back?”

Chuuya’s eyes widened. “…What?”

“Ah! Sorry! I just- Uhm… I didn’t mean it that way! I just think that… the way you work is inefficient and you’re aware of it.”

Chuuya internally grinned. ‘This kid’s more observant than I thought!’ “What makes you think that?” he said, face neutral.

“Ah…” Midoriya began to fidget with his hands. “During the second day, I saw you immobilize Kacchan instantly. You never did that again, though.”

‘How do I cover that up? Eh. Let’s blame it on anger issues.’ “I was… feeling a lot of emotion at that time. I was kinda pissed off and I didnt know that I was capable of that. I’m not sure if I can do it again.” ‘As if. That was some easy shit.’

“I see,” Midoriya said, hand to his chin. “Sorry for making assumptions!”

“It’s fine,” Chuuya says, waving him off. ‘I should watch myself. Midoriya probably believes me but he’ll still be slightly suspicious. What a nuisance.’

-

“For various reasons, the exam will be different this time!” Nezu says, popping out of Aizawa’s scarf. “From now on, we want to focus on person-to-person combat, hero work, and stress teaching that is closer to actual fighting. So-” An evil look forms on Nezu’s face. “-we’ll have you form teams of two to fight against one teacher! One group will have a team of three, though!”

The students mutter amongst themselves.

“The first team is Todoroki and Yaoyorozu,” Aizawa announces. “They’ll be fighting me. For the next group, I better not hear any complaining. Nakahara, Bakugo, Midoriy-”

“WHAT?!” Chuuya and Bakugo both shouted simultaneously.

“I’ve been working with him for too long!” Chuuya complained. Chuuya is too prideful to get on his knees and beg for something, but right now, the thought of doing so flashed momentarily in his mind.

“This is the second time I have to be with these two! Why do you insist I work with the two people I hate most in this class?!”

“I’ll have you know, I saved your ass last time we were paired up together!”

“Well, maybe I didn’t-”

“You three will be fighting against-”

“I AM HERE!” All Might shouted, jumping down to the ground.

“-All might,” Aizawa finishes. “To make this a fair match, the teachers will wear ultra-compressed weights to make our movement more difficult to perform along with consuming more stamina.”

‘Isn’t that a bit of an overkill? Isn’t he already struggling to fight? Isn’t he fighting three kids, all with destructive powers? And he’s still giving us a handicap?’

Chuuya looked at his teammates, eyebrows furrowed.

Bakugo glared at Midoriya, who was staring at the ground, fidgeting with his hands.

“Why does he hate Midoriya so much?’ Chuuya wondered. ‘There’s no way he only hates him because of his constant muttering. Actually, it’s not that far of a stretch.’

Chuuya walked towards the maintenance room. There wasn’t much to do while waiting for his turn and he might as well get a good look at 1A’s skills. Midoriya and Uraraka must’ve had a similar idea because they were also there.

As he opened the door, their heads turned towards him.

“Hi, Chuuya!” Uraraka says, waving her hand.

“Hi. Who’s match is this?”

“It’s Kirishima and Sato’s,” Midoriya answers, eyes glued to the screen.

Chuuya sat on the floor as he watched the battle.

-

“Midoriya, why does Bakugo’s temper get worse whenever he’s with you?” Chuuya asks.

Midoriya avoids eye contact, feeling reluctant to answer. Eventually, he caves in and says, “We used to be childhood friends… and when he got a quirk, he… changed.”

Uraraka looked concerned but decided that it would be best if she stayed silent.

“He became more…” Midoriya stops, thinking of the right word to say. “...selfish,” he finally says. “I only recently got a quir- er… Well, I think it only developed when I started conditioning my body for it. I think my body was too weak to use it, therefore I was technically quirkless until recently.” He rubbed the back of his neck while giving a strained smile. “Anyways, he’s probably upset that I didn’t tell him,” he said, moving the conversation away from the origin of his quirk.

‘Nice diversion. You suck at lying.’

Chuuya put on a pitiful expression. ‘That sucks for you,’ is what he wanted to say. He instead settled for “He’s an asshole.” It’s something he would say while also not being too harsh. “I hope you fix whatever problem you both have.”

—------------

‘We’re fighting against All Might now. I feel a bit nervous. Kacchan’s mad at me and Chuuya and Kacchan argue easily. Teamwork is essential in order to pass this test yet the best relationship there is here is Chuuya and mine–which is neutral. This team only worked last time because it was a quick round and we were against our classmates. Now we’re against All Might!

I don’t think I can make this work- no! I can do this! Maybe I can convince them to work just for a few minutes.’ Midoriya looks at Chuuya, who was stretching. ‘Is it possible to pass without having teamwork? Maybe just Chuuya and I can work together. From what he had told me, that time when his quirk was really strong was when he was mad. What a powerful quirk. If he gets better control… could that mean he could immobilize villains just by touching them?! That could help a lot in battle! He can-

Okay, I can think about this later! Right now, I need to focus on this exam. Maybe I can get Kacchan to aggravate Chuuya. That way, he can weigh All Might down, making it harder for him to move. Then I (and maybe Kacchan) can then handcuff All Might.’

—-------------

Chuuya rolled his shoulders as he waited for someone to make the first move. Bakugo was still glaring at Midoriya. Normally Chuuya wouldn’t wait for the opponent to get closer, for that could give them an advantage of a sneak attack. Seeing as how he has to collaborate with his teammates, he waits and stands around. Chuuya glanced at Midoriya, who was looking at him already.

‘He must be in deep thought if he hadn’t noticed that I’m looking back at him.’ Chuuya’s eyelids lowered in annoyance. He knew the look on Midoriya’s face too well. The expression of someone who’s making calculations. The way Midoriya looks at Chuuya–as if he’s thinking of how to make Chuuya fight the way he wants. Chuuya’s seen it too often. Mori, Dazai, N. How they manipulate him to do as they wish. Making him a part of their plan. ‘This fucker isn’t even hiding it. He’s probably planning for me to bring more weight to All Might. Since I told him my ‘quirk’ might be stronger according to my anger issues, he’ll probably try to piss me off or something. Fine. I’ll play your game, Midoriya.’

“Start!”

‘Oh. Is that why no one was moving?’

Immediately, Midoriya takes off running towards the gaps in between the buildings. “Come here! I’ve got a plan!”

“Couldn’t you say that before this started?!” Chuuya complained.

Bakugo dashed forwards, in search of All Might. “Screw off, nerd!” he shouts.

“Oi!” Chuuya yells, going after him. “You sure are full of yourself if you think you can beat him by yourself!”

Sparks formed into Bakugo’s hands as soon as he had sight of All Might.

“Kacchan!” Midoriya calls. “Don’t rush towards All Might! I have a plan!” he shouts as he grabs Bakugo by the wrist, attempting to stop his movements.

“Let go of me!” he snarls. “Do you want to fight?! I know you’ve got a bone to pick with me! Now that you have a quirk I bet you would love to make me pay! So come on! Let’s fight!”

Bakugo begins to blast explosions at Midoriya while he tries to dodge.

All Might stares in shock before he remembers the role he has to play: a villain. He dashes up to the trio with inhumane speed. As he throws a punch towards the group. Chuuya blocks the attack and the second All Might’s fist grazes Chuuya’s skin, Chuuya immediately activates his ability, crashing All Might's arm to the ground.

“Oi! Can’t ya do this later?!” Chuuya yells to Bakugo and Midoriya. Chuuya lifts his leg up and drops it on All Might’s arm, forcing it further into the ground.

All Might stares in shock before he remembers the role he has to play: a villain. He dashes up to the trio with inhumane speed. As he throws a punch towards the group. Chuuya blocks the attack and the second All Might's fist grazes Chuuya's skin, Chuuya immediately activates his ability, crashing All Might's arm to the ground. "Oil Can't ya do this later?!" Chuuya yells to Bakugo and Midoriya. Chuuya lifts his leg up and drops it on All Might's arm, forcing it further into the ground. Midoriya then pushed Bakugo, bumping him into Chuuya. "What the hell?!" Bakugo yelled.

'Was that his attempt to anger me? Should I attack All Might now?'

"Get out of my way, Spiky!“ Chuuya said, shoving him off. As All Might came up from behind, Chuuya slammed his foot behind him, into All Might's knee. All Might's right leg shifted back, making him lose balance. Chuuya activated his ability, this time affecting All Might's entire body. Face in the dirt, All Might struggled to push himself off the ground. The ultra-compressed weights were already making it hard for All Might, but Chuuya's increased gravity grounded him. Chuuya swiftly slapped handcuffs on to All Might's left wrist. "There were nine other matches before us that average out to twenty minutes per match. You had three hours to sort your shit out! And you decided to wait until now to do it?! What the fuck?!” ‘Man, acting angry is so easy. It’s just making your feelings ten times more dramatic.’

Midoriya takes a slight step back at the outburst. Regaining composure, he bows down. “Sorry, Chuuya. I’ll try to confront people better and not avoid problems!”

Bakugo turns his head to the side, jaw clenched. “Tch!”

Chuuya glares at Bakugo. “I’m sick of carrying your ass, you condescending dickhe-!”

“Ahem!” All Might clears his throat, interrupting the argument. “Congratulations on passing your entrance exam! My assessment of your performance will be on your desk tomorrow! See you at training camp!”

-

Chuuya walked back to the classroom, hands in his pocket, but was then stopped. Before him stood Todoroki Shoto. ‘Ugh, what does this kid want?’

“Ya need something?” Chuuya asks in an aggressive tone.

“…You took down All Might.”

‘Huh? Oh, yeah. I took down the number one hero. He’s probably a fanboy and upset about it or something.’

“Sorry, I don’t know what came over me. I think Bakugo’s irritating actions pissed me off.”

“That wasn’t my point.”

“Oh. Then what was your point?” Chuuya asks.

“You took down All Might. The number one hero.”

Chuuya tilted his head to the side, confused. Then, the realization came crashing down on him. ‘Oh shit. I fucked up. He’s the number one hero. And it would be suspicious if some kid managed to stop his movements. Ahh, excuses, excuses... I really fucking need an excuse.’ Before Chuuya could think of something to cover up his mistakes, Todoroki starts an interrogation.

“Who trains you?”

‘I learn from experiences on the missions that Boss assigns me…’

“A… family friend of mine is really skilled in martial arts. He often teaches me.”

“I meant your quirk,” Todoroki clarified, face stern.

“I just… use it a lot. It isn’t always that powerful. I was surprised myself,” Chuuya lies.

Todoroki stares at Chuuya, not yet convinced. ”I’ve been trained since a young age, yet I think I’m far from reaching All Might’s level.”

“...”

“My father trains me,” Todoroki says, folding his arms.

‘What the fuck am I supposed to say to that?’

“Good for you?”

Todoroki’s eyebrows became more furrowed and his lips turned into a slight frown.

‘Shit. I guess that was the wrong thing to say. Is his father training him a bad thing? Wait, I remember. His father’s that bitch from the Sports Festival. Yeah, I’d get upset too if I had to receive training from him.’

“Sorry.”

“Why are you apologizing?” Todoroki asks.

Chuuya rocked back and forth on his heels. “Your face made it sound like it was a bad thing. And I’ve met your father. He’s a dickhead and fucking nosy.”

Todoroki bit the inside of his cheek, trying to refrain from smiling. “...I got to go,” he said, avoiding eye contact and turning his head away. He cupped his mouth, not letting anyone see the small grin that was forming on his face. But Chuuya saw it. And he felt proud of his insults towards Endeavor.

-

When Chuuya arrived at his table, he found a sheet of paper; his grade probably. In his mind, all he could think about was All Might’s ego dropping to rock bottom. The Symbol of Peace, defeated by some eighteen-year-old. Of course, it’s much worse in All Might’s mind, since he thinks Chuuya’s fifteen. Chuuya flipped the page to read his score.

89/100

‘Only 89?! I fucking took down the number one hero!’

Your quirk and fighting skills are incredible, but your actions are affected easily by your emotions. Keeping your cool can help a lot in battle.

‘What the fuck?! I did that on purpose! Fuck you!’

Grinding his teeth together, he crumpled the paper and tossed it into the trash.

“Got a bad grade?” a voice from behind him said.

Chuuya turned around. “Hey, Uraraka. I passed but I think I should’ve gotten more credit.

“What’s your score?”

“89,” Chuuya grumbled.

“Huh?! But weren’t you the one that handcuffed All Might?”

“That’s what I’m saying! They said that I was being emotional and that I shouldn’t get aggravated so easily.”

“Well…”

Chuuya rolled his eyes. “You suck.” Uraraka grins at his comment.

“If it’s that bad, then why don’t you tell me your score?”

“Okay!” she said confidently. She hands her paper to Chuuya.

92/100

Great job! Try not to take too many risks, though.

“You scored higher than me?!” Chuuya exclaimed in disbelief. “Tch. All Might’s just mad that I beat him and that’s why I got such a low grade.”

“Ehh… I wouldn’t call 89 a low grade.”

“Low compared to what I deserve!” he argued.

“At least you’re passing! I think some people failed.”

“Sucks for them.”

“I love your concern for our classmates,” Uraraka says sarcastically whilst grinning.

“I wished Bakugo and I weren’t in the same team. That way, there’s at least a higher chance of him falling.”

“Well, he’d probably pass anyway. At least we’ll all be at the training camp together!”

‘Right. That thing. Ugh.’

Chapter Text

Chuuya covered his Port Mafia paperwork with the worksheets he was supposed to do for class. Everytime Aizawa turned his back on the class to write something on the board, Chuuya would flip the page and continue working on the report he had to give Mori. The mission would completely fail if someone saw what was on the sheet, but the deadline was today, so Chuuya had no other choice but to work during school. Besides, Mori can’t scold him if he isn’t told of it.

Out of the corner of Chuuya’s eye, he sees Aizawa turning around. In response, he quickly stuffs the paperwork in his bag. He then stares intensely at his class work and scribbles and erases to pretend that he’s working. Aizawa walks around the room, looking at the progress of the students. Chuuya’s empty page isn’t a good look, though. At least he wrote his name and the date.

Aizawa stops at Chuuya’s desk. He eyes Chuuya’s blank paper but doesn’t say anything. Then, Aizawa hands a small sheet to Chuuya. There are only two words written on it: “Homework Pass”

“The fuck is this?” Chuuya asks with a raised

eyebrow.

“Birthday gift.”

Chuuya only looks more confused. “What birthday?”

“It’s April 29th, right?”

“April 29–“ Ohhhhh.”

Suddenly, Uraraka’s head shoots towards Chuuya. “What!?! It’s your birthday?!” she screams, now standing up.

1A increasingly gets louder and louder and instead of dealing with it, Aizawa slides back into his sleeping bag.

Some people began to swarm Chuuyas desk. “Bro, why didn’t you tell us?” Kaminari complains.

“Yeah,” Ashido agrees. “How am I gonna get you a present in time!?”

Chuuya rolls his eyes. “You’re making such a big deal out of this. It’s just the day I was born,” he says, reading the details of the homework pass. An imaginary light bulb appears at the top of Kaminari’s head.

“Okay, how about I do your homework?! Great gift, yeah?”

“I got a homework pass. Also you would only bring my grade down.” Kaminari walks back to his desk in defeat with his head hanging low.

“Can you like… give a list of things you like?” Uraraka asks.

Chuuya begins answering  the first question. The parabola is concave-down. “I don’t need presents. And go back to your seats, you’re suffocating me.” After hearing that, everyone immediately shot back to their desks. As the attention on him began to subside, he brought out his report.

Chuuya left UA a little quicker than normal. The report was basically done, but it’s nice to finish early. Getting it done last minute would only cause stress. Two thirds of the way back to his house, he realizes there’s a lack of weight in his back pocket. ‘Fuck. I left my phone in the classroom.’ He made a 180° turn and walked back to school.

Most of the lights were turned off since the students had left, but luckily, 1A’s door was unlocked. Chuuya took one step in the room and—”

POP!

—confetti exploded in his face. Chuuya stared in shock as bits of colorful paper fell to the floor.

“Happy birthday!!!”

Chuuya blinked a few times. “What the fuck.”

Ashido walked up to Chuuya nervously with a face of guiltiness. “Haha… Happy birthday…” she says, handing him his supposed abandoned phone. There’s a ribbon wrapped around it to imitate as a gift.

“Did you take my phone so that I had to come back to get it?”

“…Yesn’t?” she replies.

Chuuya sighs as he rips the ribbon off and tosses it on the floor. “If I find out that you were looking through my phone, I’ll kill you.” It wasn’t really a joke. If anyone found out that he was apart of the Port Mafia, he’d have to kill them. Of course, they don’t know that. So Ashido thought of it as a joke.

”Yes sir!” she says, grinning.

Chuuya never made a list of things he liked so the gifts he received consisted of money and cards. The money was completely useless since he was already rich but he thanked everyone anyway.

The party was overall extremely uncoordinated and there was no plan other than: 1. Bring Chuuya 2. Give gifts. However Kirishima brought Monopoly!

Bakugo exploded the board after he had to pay a fine that put him in debt. Kirishima had decided that he’ll never bring board games to anywhere ever again.

-

The clock hit 5:00 and lots of kids left due to a curfew they had and not to mention the custodians that came to clean. So, they all ended up leaving.

Just before Uraraka went to her train station, she screamed, “Your next birthday party will be ten times better!”

Chuuya wasn’t sure if he’ll still be here next year and he’ll never admit it but he’s looking forward to it.

In the end, he submitted an incomplete report.

Birthday Art‼️ ⬇️

Chapter 12: discontinued 💔💔

Summary:

hi…

Chapter Text

hey guys… i’m lowkey not writing this anymore. whenever i try to work on the next chapter, i add a few sentences then i sidetrack to do something else. to be honest i was never that interested in mha in the first place but the concept of a crossover between mha and bsd was really appealing to me at the time and recently i’ve been losing interest in bsd </3. i think im just getting annoyed with how often characters die and get revived and it just makes death less impactful each time it happens.

in addition my writing is ass and every time i look back on the chapters i feel like exploding. there’s also a shit ton of plot holes bc i decided to write without a clear structure and order of events. it was kinda like making things up as i go.

anyways sorry about this and i love all ur comments ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
