Kaminari’s work life was hectic. He knew that Jirou’s was too. They seemingly always had opposing shifts, causing them to hardly see each other anymore.
They were high school sweethearts. He loved her more than anything. She was the love of his life, he knew that, without a doubt.
This shift ran oddly long and Kaminari didn’t get home until the middle of the night. He fumbled with his keys, managing to unlock the door after a moment. He slowly opened the door, trying not to make too much noise, figuring his girlfriend was asleep. That effort was defeated by the loud squeak of the door. He closed it behind him, slipping his shoes off by the door.
Kaminari slightly dragged his feet as he walked through the hallway, turning to go into the bedroom. That was where he saw Jirou, sleeping soundly on the bed.
She stirred awake after he walked in. “Denki?”
He sat down next to her on the bed, with a sigh. “You okay?” She prompted him with another question.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Just a long day.” He laid back, working his way underneath the covers. She rolled over, her head rested on his chest. “You want to talk about it?” He responded with the shake of his head.
His arms wrapped around her, just enjoying their moment. He watched as she began to drift off to sleep again.
“I love you.” Her response was just a groggy hum. A smile pulled at the corners of his lips before resting his head back on the pillow.
A moment like this was one he strived for. He missed her more than he realized. He knew, in this moment, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Before he knew it, he was drifting off to sleep, with the most beautiful girl in his arms.
