The sight made her throat tighten unexpectedly, and she had to swallow before she could speak.

    “You’re really bad at this,” she teasingly murmured, her voice hoarse and barely above a whisper.

    His lips quirked faintly, the smallest hint of a smile tugging at the corners.

    “But I’m good at loving you,” he replied, the words so simple and certain that they left her momentarily speechless.
