Empire City, Sovereign
05.54 AM
In the Empire City, everything was quiet in the area of Sovereign. People were going around neighbors, going to work and visiting their friends next door. In one house, a brown hedgehog was sleeping happily on his bed. He was awakened by his alarm clock, to which he pressed it before stretching his arms.
He yawned heavily and started looking for his glasses. He put it on and saw his view clearly.
“Sonic, get up! You don’t want to be late for your field trip!” Aunt Aleena calls him, reminding him today is his field trip. He gasped, realizing that he forgot about his trip.
“I’m coming!” He groaned as he looked for his shoes and gloves.
He started to dress himself, as he remembers what happened to him ten years ago.
Until he was five, his parents Jules and Bernadette, were both scientists developing a cure for deadly types of diseases. One day, when leaving him in the care of Aunt Aleena and Uncle Chuck, they were on a plane to continue their research in Washington DC. But in the middle of their flight, their plane crashes somewhere on route, killing everyone onboard, including his parents. But fortunately, the plane crashed in the ocean, so no country had suffered any damage.
Ever since he lived with Aunt Aleena and Uncle Chuck, he was interested in science from his parents. From day to night, he focused heavily on science, getting the best grades, even outpacing everyone during study time. At the same time, he was looking through the internet and articles, determined to find out what caused his parents’ plane to crash in the first place.
He gets out of his bedroom, wearing his clothing. He walked downstairs and saw Aunt Aleena cooking the kitchen, while Uncle Chuck was on the table, reading the newspaper. Aunt Aleena puts the toast on the table as Sonic sits on his chair.
“Morning, Uncle Chuck.”
He lowered his newspaper and turned to his nephew. “Morning, Sonic. Ready for your field trip?”
“I am Uncle Chuck.” Aunt Aleena puts toast on the table, near Sonic’s reach. “Thanks, Aunt Aleena.”
“No problem, Sonic.” She smiles as Sonic took a big bite from his toast, finishing it in an instant. “Hurry, your bus will be leaving soon. Oh, and don’t forget your camera.”
“I will.” He stands up from his chair and grabs his camera. He leaves his house and heads to his school, closing the door behind him.
Empire City, Midsquare High School
06.13 AM
Later at Midsquare High School, Sonic arrived at the school, just in a nick of time. He waits outside of the school bus, with several students.
“Hey, Sonic!” A voice called out.
He turned around and saw a female brown chipmunk with blond hair and blue eyes. She wears a black shirt with green vest, white gloves, and purple pants with purple boots.
“Sal!” They hugged each other in greeting, happy to see each other. “Looking forward to the field trip?”
“Honestly, I couldn't be more excited! This was my dream on visiting Empire Mobius University.”
“Same.” Sally Acorn, a childhood friend of Sonic and her dad, Nigel Acorn, is the captain of the Empire City Police Department. They met each other in 3rd grade, and got along pretty well with their fascination with science.
“I see both of you had a meetup pretty early.” They turned to the voice and saw another friend of theirs. A pink hedgehog with pink quills wearing a red dress, red boots, and white gloves with golden bracelets.
“AJ!” Amy-Jane, or AJ her friends like to call her, is a friend of Sonic and Sally from their class. Sonic and AJ met in their early days of high school, during a group assignment. At first, they were seeing each other as relatives of their own mom and aunt, but over time, they started to get along like friends. Sonic introduces Sally to AJ, to which both of them got along for their first meeting.
“How’s your music career?” She smiles at Sonic’s question.
“Oh, it’s going to be great. Everyone liked my singing and many recordings were selling skyrocketed. I also got a hang of Tarot Cards during my break time.”
“Sounds like you’re having a good time. Proud of you.” Sally said, to which AJ appreciated. As they continue talking, other students take notice of AJ’s presence and they move away from her.
“Look, it's the pink rose!” “We should move away from her!” “Yeah, I don’t want to be near a girl hedgehog who could punch like a crowbar.”
They notice everyone was wary of her and they sweatdrop on that. “They’re still remembering that Dodge Incident, huh?”
“Honestly, I couldn't blame them. My bully was considered to be one of everyone’s worst bullies they could encounter. Seeing AJ beat him up during a dodgeball match was something everyone appreciated.” Sonic said.
“But when some boys are flirting with her, she doesn’t take it kindly.” Sonic nods, agreeing with Sally.
“Why did you guys suddenly think of me as a gangster?” AJ was depressed by the amount of names flying around her and they couldn’t help, but find it funny in this.
“Alright, class!” All students turned to their Echidna teacher, Professor Daymond Zackary, who was standing by the bus.
“Now, I want all of you to be on your best behavior during this field trip.” He told them. “That means; no mischief, no trouble, no pranks, and no breaking things!” He stated the rules of the field trip to everyone. “Now, everyone, pile on the bus!”
Everyone piled on the bus, then Sonic climbed on before driving away. They sat in their seats, where AJ and Sally were sitting near each other, while Sonic was behind them. He was staring at AJ, who was talking with Sally.
He snapped himself out of it, not wanting his stare taken notice. ‘Calm down, Sonic. AJ might be related to a friend of your aunt, but that doesn’t mean you should stare at her creepily.’ He thought to himself as the bus was heading to its destination.
Empire City, Empire Mobius University
03.34 PM
Once the bus reached Empire Mobius University, the students all piled out of the bus and gathered at the entrance.
“Right now, is everybody here?” Prof. Zackary asked.
“Yes, Dr. Zackary.” Everyone responded at the same time.
“Right. Now, if you all go inside, as our tour guide is waiting for us.” Prof. Warrens explained. They all walked into the ESU building, and saw a woman in her 20s with blond hair, wearing a lab coat waiting for them.
“Welcome, everyone.” The girl said. “My name’s Maria Robotnik, and I will be your tour guide for today.” She introduced herself.
While some people yawned, others listened carefully like Sonic, Sally, and AJ. “Now, if you all follow me, I would like to begin the tour.” Dr. Kintobor explained.
The tour took them around campus, looking through all science labs and equipment that were near them. Sonic asked if they’re allowed to take photos, which she allows except if there’s a sign labeled ‘No Photo’ in place. And Sonic took a photo of their tour, making sure the spot didn’t have any signs before the photo.
Empire City, Empire Mobius University
03.53 PM
The last place they were given a tour was full of experimented animals, which include a cage that was divided in 15, each with a spider web in it.
The girls were freaked out by the spiders, but Sally and AJ weren't as they leaned closer. “These spiders look fascinating.”
“If you mean pretty, I agree. Their bodies seem very different from one another.”
“That’s true.” Sonic said as he snapped a photo of the spiders in their cages.
“Now these spiders are an experimental case.” Dr. Robotnik explained, getting everyone’s attention, except for Sally who was looking at the spiders. “We genetically experiment with these spiders to make a cure for the people’s illness. I recall the amount of spiders that were experimented were 15 if I’m correct.”
Sally took a closer look and noticed one of the cages was empty, “There’s only 14. One’s missing from the cage.”
Dr. Kintobor looked at the cages and saw one of them was missing, “Hm, I assume one of them was in experimentation.”
But she was wrong, as a blue spider was hanging on the ceiling with a big spider web.
Everyone was staring at spiders, except for Sonic, who was still staring at AJ. “Hey, still staring at her?” He jumped by the voice and saw Sally was there.
“Jeez, could you have given me a tap first?” Sally chuckled from his reaction.
“(Are you going to make the first move?)” She whispers to him.
“(Are you kidding? AJ isn’t like a normal girl you find on a street. I’m worried that I will be dragging her down due to everyone pointing me out as a nerd.)” Sonic whispers back as he isn't himself worthy of himself with her.
“Sonic, I’ve known you for years. Besides, I’m sure Aunt Aleena and Mrs. Rose would be supportive of your love towards AJ. You just need to take a step on how you move your relationship.”
AJ turned around and saw Sally and Sonic were talking with each other. “Were you guys talking about something?” She got their attention, which Sonic was embarrassed about.
“O-Oh, we were just talking about taking a picture together! But I felt only the two of us could be in the photo since there isn’t anyone to help.” Sally snarky smiles at Sonic, but she plays along with him.
“That’s right~. Want to take a photo with us?”
“Sure, we could take turns between photos.” AJ suggested.
“Great, how about ladies first? I think I can take a good shot from here.” They nod on that plan and went to the spot. Amy and AJ begin preparing themselves for the photo as the spider begins crawling down from its web. He aimed his camera at the two girls, getting a clear view of them. What he doesn’t know is that the blue spider from the ceiling was on his shoulder.
He presses the button, as the spider bites into him.
He flinches his shoulder to his back, as he loses focus on the shot. AJ and Sally took notice of it.
“Sonic, are you alright?” AJ asked with worry.
“I’m fine, nothing too serious.” He went onto his own shoulder, giving it a little message. The spider drops down and crawls away. They get back to the tour, as Sonic feels a sting on his shoulder.
His vision started to feel blurry and his mind became woozy. He shook his head and continued following them from behind.
Empire City, Sovereign
07.12 PM
After reaching his school, Sonic walks to his house on foot. The dizziness got even worse as he nearly bumped into a streetlight. But he continues to move forward, holding against the symptoms.
Once he reaches the house, he opens the door and finds his aunt and uncle on the table. “Ah, there’s our little brown hedgehog! How's the field trip today?” Uncle Chuck asked.
“I-It was good, but… -Urp!” He was about to throw up but he managed to close his mouth from letting it out.
“Sonic, are you okay?” Aunt Aleena asked, worried for him.
“I don’t think I’m good. I'm just going to crash on my bed.” Sonic said as he walked upstairs.
“You’re not joining us for dinner with us?”
“I don’t think I can eat dinner without risking throwing up. So, maybe next time.” Sonic groaned as he walked upstairs, careful not to fall down.
Aunt Aleena and Uncle Chuck watch Sonic walking upstairs while he’s holding a pain in his head. “Do you think he will be alright?” Aunt Aleena asked.
“Sometimes I wonder about that myself.” He said with a shrug, “We should let the school know he’s resting at his house for the time being.”
“Right, I’ll go call a doctor.” He nods and goes to call the school, while Aunt Aleena calls the doctor from her phone.
Empire City, Sovereign
05.54 AM
The next morning, Sonic’s alarm clock started beeping and he turned it off by pressing the button. But strangely, he managed to break the alarm clock with his hand. He woke up from the shattering glass and saw his alarm clock break. “Great, looks like I better buy a new alarm clock.”
He grabs his glasses from the table and puts them on. Once he puts it on, his vision is still blurry. “This is odd.” He lowered his glasses and his vision was clear. He was surprised and double checked it. He lowered his glasses, realizing his vision is clear without his glasses.
But that wasn’t the only thing he was surprised about.
His brown fur was now blue, surprising him even more.
“W-What’s going on?! First, I could see clearly. And now my fur is blue, what in the Mobius is going on?”
He heard a knock on his door, alarming him. He went to use his blanket to cover his fur and slowly opened the door a little. He saw Aunt Aleena was there, with a worried look.
“Sonic, is everything alright?” She asked.
“I-I’m fine, Aunt Aleena. There’s nothing wrong with me.” He lies to her, trying to hide his changing fur.
“Well, I have to make sure. I just called a doctor here to check up on you, he should be arriving soon. Oh, and you don’t need to go to school. Uncle Chuck just called the principal, telling him that you’re not feeling well today.”
“R-Right, I got it.” Aunt Aleena was happy with the answer before closing the door. Once she leaves, Sonic drops his blanket and drops to the ground. “That was close, I thought I would be caught soon.” He looks at his fur, seeing it’s now blue rather than brown.
“I hope Aunt Aleena and Uncle Chuck won't freak out about this.” He noticed his glasses were on the ground, near him. “I should put it back.” He grabs his glasses and puts them on the table. As he let go, he saw his glasses were sticking to his hand.
“Are you kidding me?” He tried dropping it by shaking his hand, but it was still sticking to him. He tries removing it from his hand, but only manages to stick it onto his other hand. He shakes it on the table, trying to get the glasses off his hand.
‘Stop sticking, stop sticking.’
Suddenly, his glasses stop sticking and drops on the table. He sighs in relief that his glasses were sticking to him. He puts on the gloves, thinking that it won’t be stuck onto his hand again. Then a knock came from his door.
“Sonic, you there? The doctor had just arrived.” His ears perked up and taking a deep breath. He covers himself in a blanket before opening the door.
“Coming.”
They walked downstairs as the duck doctor was there, sitting by Aunt Aleena. Uncle Chuck helps Sonic come down, and sit him across the doctor.
“Good morning, Mr. Hedgehog. I was told that you were not feeling well yesterday?”
“Yeah, I wasn’t feeling well after the field trip. But the next morning, I started to get a little better.” The doctor thought of his symptoms.
“I see, may I check your fur? I need to see the effect of it.” He asked politely.
“Yeah, I think you might.” Sonic pulls his blanket down, revealing his blue fur. Aunt Aleena and Uncle Chuck were surprised by his fur color, which was noticed by the doctor.
“I assumed his fur wasn't blue?”
“No, he was brown yesterday. I didn’t know when his fur turned blue.” The doctor offers his hand and Sonic accepts it. He looked at his fur, not noticing any difference to a normal fur.
“Are there any other effects you felt this morning?”
“Yes. For some reason, I don’t need my glasses to see anymore. I can see the world clearly now.” Sonic explained his affect to the doctor in detail.
“Hm, this is an odd one. Your heartbeat is normal, you don’t need your glasses, and your fur is turning blue.” The doctor thought back to his finding and came up with an answer.
“Well, you seem to be healthy for now. But just to be sure, you will be eating healthy food for a week and exercise in your daily routine.” He wrote down a list on his paper and gave it to Uncle Chuck. “But for now, keep resting until tomorrow.”
“Yes, thank you, doctor.” He nods and packs his stuff back into his bag. He nods to Aunt Aleena and Uncle Chuck, and leaves the house. They look at the list and Uncle Chuck picks it up.
“I’ll be putting this on the fridge’s door. Aleena, prepare Sonic the soup.”
“Yes, dear.” They went to the kitchen, leaving Sonic in the living room. He sighs in relief, happy to see they still think of him as their nephew.

06.12 AM
After the doctor’s visit, things were progressing slowly with Sonic’s condition. His health started to get better and he exercised with Uncle Chuck. Sonic tries to keep with him, but starts to run out of breath.
Aunt Aleena watches them from the window, feeling happy that Sonic is getting better. She notices a picture of Sonic’s parents, Jules and Bernadette Hedgehog, on the kitchen shelf. She took the photo and wiped the frame with a wet cloth. The photo was clear, revealing both parents and Sonic (when he was a kid) smiling together.
“Don’t worry, he’s in the bright future you two. But don’t worry, you can watch over him anytime you want.” She said, imagining talking to Sonic’s parents.

03.32 PM
The next day, Sonic and Uncle Chuck went to a nearby local store to buy a new alarm clock. They bought it and started leaving the shop. As they head back home, they notice homeless people on the street.
“Aren’t you running a shelter institute?” Sonic asked his uncle.
“Oh, I am. But we’re not having enough staff yet, so we’re still underhand with getting more help.” He answers truthfully.
He looked back and wondered to himself, “Uncle Chuck… Do you think I can help people? After all, I’m only a regular hedgehog living in Sovereign.” Sonic asked, which Uncle Chuck answered truthfully.
“You can help people, Sonic. You just need the push to help those in need. Your father and mother were working hard on helping the people with their illness before they were…” Uncle Chuck had second thoughts of finishing the sentence, but Sonic grabs his hand.
He turned and saw Sonic smiling. “Don’t worry, Uncle Chuck. I’m still myself, so don't worry about me.”
He smiles, happy to hear Sonic’s optimism. “All right, if you say so.” Sonic was happy with the response and they went back to their home.
Empire City, Sovereign
07.13 AM
It was Sunday and everyone in the city was having free time for their work. Sonic was helping with Aunt Aleena cleaning up the house. Since Uncle Chuck was busy helping their neighbors with their lawnmower.
Sonic went to the trash can in the front and threw it inside.
“I see you have gotten better.” He turns around and sees AJ is there, as she’s right next to his house.
“AJ, aren’t you busy this week?” She shook her head.
“I’m on a break since the music got a smash hit in the record sales.” Sonic nod, understanding it. She noticed Sonic’s fur wasn’t brown anymore, but it was now blue. “Did something happen to your fur?”
He realized it and tried to answer it. “Yeah, my fur was like this after the field trip. The doctor told me it wasn’t too severe, but I was recommended to do exercise on a daily basis and eat healthier food.”
“I see, I’m glad about it.” AJ said, happy to hear of Sonic’s condition.
“Amy!” They turn and see AJ’s mom is calling her by the front.
“I better go!” She winks at Sonic, causing him to blush. “Yes, mom?” She quickly went back into her house, as Sonic stared at her. He snapped out of it and headed back into his house.
As he entered his house, Uncle Chuck was by the door, smiling at Sonic. “How are things with you and AJ?” He blushed at the question.
“I-It’s nothing!” He dashed away, leaving Uncle Chuck sighed while shaking his head.
“Oh, young love.” He said to himself.

06.12 AM
“Shoot! I will be late!” Sonic said as he ran to his school. He forgot to set his alarm clock and had to be woken up by Uncle Chuck’s waking technique.
He grabs a snack before quickly rushing off to his school. He saw the subway was full with people and had no choice but to run the school. Sonic dashes pass everyone, trying to get to school before the bell rings. He ran at full sprint and actually managed to dodge people that were walking by. He continued speeding up, running even faster.
He ran so fast; people barely noticed a blue streak right by them. He notices on the crossroad, the lights turn red. The Car was about to move forward, and he reacted by jumping over it. He lands on his feet and continues running to his school.
Dogs notice Sonic running past them and they bark instinctively.
Empire City, Midsquare High School
06.21 AM
The bell rings and Sonic manages to reach his school in time. He started to slow down and quickly went to his classroom before class started.
He enters his classroom and sees that the teacher hasn’t arrived yet. “(Psst, Sonic!)” He turned to the voice and saw Sally calling him, telling him to sit beside him. He went to his seat, and took a breath of relief.
“You took your time to get here, and how did you get your fur blue?” Sally asked. Sonic was about to answer until Prof. Zackary entered their classroom.
He went to his desk and noticed Sonic was there. “AH, Mr. Hedgehog. It’s good to see your health has recovered.”
“Yes, it is.” He said to his teacher before his class began. “(I’ll tell you later.)” He whispers to Sally and she nods.
Empire City, Midsquare High School
11.23 AM
As lunchtime began, everyone went to the cafeteria to get their own lunch. Sonic sat across Sally, eating his lunch.
As he continued eating, Sally asked Sonic about his fur. “So, about your fur…” He gulps it down before answering Sally.
“You see, it just happened after the field trip. It’s nothing too serious, but the doctor told me to eat healthier food and exercise on a daily basis. And you also notice that I’m not wearing my glasses anymore, it’s also the effect.”
“I see.” They notice AJ walking with her lunch tray.
“AJ, over here!” They turned their backs and saw a girl calling her out. Sally noticed Sonic was sad that AJ wasn't sitting with him.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure both of you get the time you need.” Sally said, cheering Sonic up a bit.
“Thanks, but you don’t need to do that.” AJ walks past Sonic, heading to the girls’ spot. Sonic felt something behind him and turned around. AJ slips off an apple juice spill, slipping her over and losing the grip on her tray.
Sonic quickly reacts by grabbing her and grabs her tray. He notices the lunch coming down and quickly moves the tray to get the food onto the tray. AJ was impressed by his reflex, “Wow, that was amazing reflexes.”
“Thanks.” Sonic smiles as he hands her lunch tray back and she grabs it. She continues heading to the girls’ spot and Sonic sits back down. He looked at Sally with a shocking reaction.
“Um, Sal…?” Sally immediately snaps out of her thought by Sonic’s voice.
“S-Sorry, I wasn’t expecting you to do those kinds of moves.”
“Me neither.” Sonic answers and they go back to their lunch.
Empire City, Midsquare High School
03.31 PM
The school was over and everyone exited the school. Sonic, AJ, and Sally were walking together, exiting the school. “So, you got any plans, girls?”
“Not much, but I will be having lunch with my dad.” Sally answered.
“I guess I could go along. I don’t have any business right now.” AJ answered and pats Sonic’s shoulder. Sonic is embarrassed by the touch, while Sally gives her a thumbs up on the move.
“Want to eat some pizza? People always say NYC pizza is always the best.” Sonic suggested.
“Guess I could get some pizza.” She accepts, which Sonic was happy with the response. AJ and Sonic wave to Sally, as they split up and head to a nearby pizza joint.
Empire City
03.42 PM
They arrived at the pizza joint, where it was across from a comic shop called ‘Bumble Comics.’ They enter the pizza joint and sit across the table. The waiter arrives, taking their order.
“What can I get both of you for today?” The waiter asked.
“Can we get a cheese and pepperoni pizza?” Sonic asked. The waiter writes down the order in his notebook.
“Anything else?” Sonic shook his head in response. The waiter nods and heads to the kitchen. AJ looked at the restaurant and saw it was filled with Italian drawings, decors, and pictures on the wall.
“How did you find this place?” AJ asked.
“Oh, Uncle Chuck brought me to this place when I was 11 years old. He told me that you need to eat something else than my own Chili Dogs.”
“Really? Did you eat a lot of it?” Sonic looks away as he scratches his quills.
“Yeah, I really did. I nearly empty the whole Chili Dogs and I was punished by studying in my bedroom.” AJ chuckled on his story.
“Little Sonic causing some mayhem~?”
“Yeah, I did. But I started to focus on my studies as I was getting older. What about you?”
AJ twirls her fingers, remembering her childhood. “I think I remember that I used to be a tomboy when I was in middle school.” Sonic nods, listening into her story.
“I always got a good score on exercise and basketball. Boys insulting me for having weird hair, and I answered by pounding their heads.” Sonic widened by the story, reminding him one time where AJ was taking down the bully shooting dodgeballs into his junk. “Everyone was avoiding me, scared of my strength. But I got into learning to sing and the next thing was that I got a career in music.”
Sonic chuckled, “Time flies by so fast, huh?”
AJ smiles, agreeing with Sonic. “Yeah, it is.”
The waiter came back with a circle tray in his hand. “Your pizza is finished.” He put down the pizza and saw it was pepperoni and cheese, but the pepperonis were formed together into a heart. They turned to the waiter, who was smiling. “Enjoy the dish.”
He left, leaving Sonic and AJ on the table. They look at each other and smile, “Guess everyone thinks that we’re a match, huh?”
“Yeah.” Sonic looks down, blushing a little. “We should eat our pizza.”
“Yes!” They were getting their slices and eating the pizza together.
Empire City
04.12 PM
They walk out of the pizza joint, feeling stuffed on eating the pizza. “That was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted.” Sonic nods, agreeing with Amy.
“Should we head home together?” Sonic asked.
“Sure, let’s–“ Suddenly, AJ was interrupted by a phone call. She took it out from her phone and saw it was from her manager. “I had to take this.”
“Alright, take your time.” AJ nods and picks up the call.
“Hello.” As AJ was having a conversation with her manager, Sonic looked around him. He admired the sight, seeing that he no longer had his glasses anymore. He whistled, passing the time.
“Eh, I have to?” He managed to hear the conversation AJ’s having, and by the sound, she was surprised to hear it. “I got it, I’ll head there right away.” She hangs up the call as Sonic looks at her.
“Sorry, it looks like you’re on your own. I had a call from my manager that I need to be involved with another rehearsal.”
“What? Didn’t your manager have other singers?”
“He did, but the singer in charge has a sore throat. So I have to be involved with that.”
“I see, guess our hangout is over, huh?”
Suddenly, AJ grabs Sonic’s hand, which surprises him. “Don’t worry, I already had a fun time. There’s always a next time.” He smiles at her words.
“I guess that’s true.” She smiles before kissing his cheek, which caught him off-guard. She lets go of his hand and waves.
“See you, Sonic!” She quickly left, leaving Sonic in a shocking state. He touch his cheek, still feeling the kiss by AJ. He smiles happily before heading back home.
Empire City, Subway
05.53 PM
After nearly an hour, Sonic sits on a subway cart, waiting for the subway to reach Sovereign. There were also gang members with face paint, who were having a laugh by watching one video. However, one of them has half face paint, and didn’t laugh on the video.
Sonic hears the bell and prepares to get off. The gang noticed Sonic was getting off, making him their target. One member pats the half-paint member, getting his attention.
“You see that blue hedgehog over there?” He points to Sonic, which the member nods in response. “That’s your first target. You know what to do, and don’t refuse the task.” At first, he wants to refuse it, but he accepts it in fright.
Empire City, Sovereign
06.01 PM
After getting off the subway, Sonic was walking down the path to his home. He noticed it was starting nighttime, “Great, it will be dark by the time I reach home.”
He notices an alley, which is a shortcut to his house. “Guess a little shortcut wouldn’t hurt.” He walks into the alleyway, not noticing he was being followed by the paint face gang. As he’s walking into the alley, the air has a smelly feeling.
There was trash laying around and rats crawling. He continues walking until he hears footsteps behind him. As he was about to turn around, his head started to vibrate again. From his perspective, he could see the wide area that was out of his view. He quickly reacts by sidestepping to his right, dodging an incoming punch from the half-paint member.
He looked back and saw the gang in front of him. They were talking to themselves, surprised to see Sonic dodging the attack without turning around. They’re also not happy that the rookie wasn’t able to land a punch.
“Um, are you guys having a party?” Sonic’s question manages to get a member a little bit mad.
“So you’re a funny guy, huh?” He pulls back the rookie as he walks towards Sonic, “Let me show you how you could throw a punch, kid!” He calls out the rookie, scaring him.
“Look, I don’t know what your deal is, but I don’t want to fight you.”
“Well, I wouldn’t wanna fight me either!” He raises his fist, preparing to throw punches at Sonic. He shot out a first punch, which Sonic’s head started to vibrate again. He noticed the punch was moving slowly, which gave enough time to dodge it.
The gang member followed it up by throwing faster punches, but Sonic was fast enough to dodge all of the punches. Another gang member sneaks up behind Sonic and charges towards him. Sonic felt the danger coming and jumped high in the air, dodging the charged attack. The member bumps into him as Sonic lands on his feet. The face paint member turned to his face, disappointed.
“Sorry.”
He pushes him back, losing his patience on Sonic. He tried attacking him again, but Sonic was able to block the punches with his reflexes. Another punch was coming, but Sonic grabs it with his hand. He twisted the hand to his back, hurting the muscle a little bit.
He gives him a devastating blow with his free hand, shooting him to the rest of the gang. His body crashes to everyone, except for half-paint members. Sonic turns to him, and sees he is scared. “You’re alright?”
He quickly nods, answering Sonic’s question. “Well, you should go back home. Your parents would be worried for your safety.” He nods again before running away. As Sonic watches him leaving, he looks at the gang lying on the ground. He sighed, not knowing what’s going on. “Why has my life become more complicated?”
He pulls out his phone and calls the police.
Empire City, Sovereign
06.13 PM
After calling the police and explaining to them the occurrence, Sonic manages to reach his home in time. He opens the door and finds Uncle Chuck was waiting by the door. Sonic sighed, knowing this would happen.
“Where have you been?” Uncle Chuck asked.
“I was hanging out with AJ at a local pizza joint, sorry if I didn’t message about it.”
“I see, but what’s delaying you? And I’m serious, Sonic. You’re my nephew and I’m not letting you be in the dark for long.”
Sonic hesitates to answer, but he answers it truthfully. “There were these gang members with face paint. They were following behind my back and I protected myself against them. I did call the police though, so you don’t need to be worried.”
He sighed on Sonic’s story. “You need to be careful, Sonic. The world is mysterious, and filled with many dangers.”
“I know, Uncle Chuck.”
“Are you?” Sonic gripped his hand, not liking Uncle Chuck kept questioning him.
“Now, calm down you two.” They turned to Aunt Aleena, who was putting the dinner on the table. “There’s no need to be tense in this house. For now, let's just enjoy a warm dinner tonight.” They smile at that idea.
“Yeah, I guess I could use some.”
“Me too.” Aunt Aleena smiles, happy to hear Uncle Chuck and Sonic put away their conflicts with each other. They sit by the table, having dinner together.
The atmosphere was comfortable and hopeful as the three of them were having dinner. But good things always come to an end as tragedy will fall upon them.
