Too Sweet

Work Text:

Kakashi wasn’t fond of sweets.

It wasn’t a well known fact, so when he received gifts during his hospital stays it often ended up with a pile of chocolates that he’d never eat. Somehow people had decided that sweets were a better get well gift for him in place of flowers.

After the run-in with the Akatsuki in Suna, this hospital visit was no different, well other than the fact that he now had someone at home who might be interested in the treats in his stead.

“I’m home,” Kakashi called out to the quiet apartment.

Iruka had visited him in the hospital once or twice, but they had been keeping their relationship on the quiet side, so by the time Kakashi knew he’d be released he hadn’t gotten a chance to tell Iruka. So it seemed Iruka was probably sitting on a mission desk shift while Kakashi was here in Iruka’s apartment alone.

He piled the chocolates up on the table and laid down on Iruka’s couch to rest. Kakashi pulled out Icha Icha Tactics to read it again. It had been his main company in the hospital, but even still he’d read it again until Iruka made it home.

Kakashi hadn’t even realized he’d fallen asleep until he heard the door creak open.

He looked over to see Iruka flush faced at the doorway just staring at him.

“Welcome home,” Kakashi said, still half asleep.

“Isn’t that what I’m supposed to say?” Iruka questioned as he closed the door behind him.

Iruka slid off his shoes and rushed over to the couch. He straddled Kakashi’s waist and started kissing him.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?” Iruka questioned between kisses, “I would have been home sooner or made you something for dinner.”

“I wanted to, but you haven't been back for a few days. And you can’t cook, what do you mean make me dinner?”

“Sure, sure I still could have gotten something for you… did you eat at all?”

Kakashi shrugged. The hospital food wasn’t great, but it had been enough.

“I brought you some gifts,” Kakashi gestured towards the table.

Iruka looked up at the pile of sweets, “Ohh really? For me?”

“Well, I think you’ll enjoy them more than me.”

Iruka laughed, “Really, and what if I, maybe fed you one?”

“Hmmm, maybe it wouldn’t be too bad.”

Iruka raised his eyebrows and got up like it was a challenge. He sorted through the chocolates on the table and came back with a few in hand.

Kakashi watched as Iruka slowly unwrapped a small round chocolate and placed it to Kakashi’s lips. Opening his mouth, Kakashi took in the chocolate making sure to lick Iruka’s finger as he helped it inside.

It was still rather sweet and not to Kakashi’s taste, but being fed by Iruka was worth it.

“How was that?” Iruka asked, eyes expectant like he genuinely hoped Kakashi liked the chocolate.

“Hmmm, still not sure. Maybe we should share the next piece,” Kakashi offered.

Iruka looked at him a little puzzled, then like a snap he seemed to get Kakashi’s meaning. Grabbing one of the other pieces of chocolate he unwrapped it and put half of the piece in his teeth, and leaned over to Kakashi who took half the piece in his own teeth. He gave a bit of a kiss to Iruka before biting down and eating his half of the chocolate and Iruka ate his.

After finishing his piece Iruka leaned in and kissed Kakashi. Both their mouths tasted like the sweet chocolate that they’d eaten.

“Better?” Iruka asked when he pulled away.

Kakashi brushed away a crumb from Iruka’s lips with his thumb and chuckled lightly, “Don’t think I’ll be wanting any more, but it’s the best chocolate I’ve ever had.”

“I have one more idea…”

“Ohh?” Kakashi wondered.

Iruka leaned over to whisper in his ear, “I could melt down some of this chocolate and you can lick it off me…everywhere…”

Kakashi swallowed hard. His brain stopped working and he didn’t know what to say.

“But that should probably wait until you’re healed up,” Iruka said as he walked away.

“I’m healed up!” Kakashi said, chasing after Iruka.
