Yet each time Senku grabbed him by the wrist because Chrome wasn’t in the observatory that night, or stayed up to tell him all about the stars (as if he hadn’t told him so many times before), or sat down to invent something insanely modern just to prove it could be done, it felt to Gen like he was truly, completely present. Gen felt completely drunk on the momentum of these instants of sheer presence. They were thrumming like the chords of a shamisen, separate yet one, creating something beautiful and more. It always faded, but it left him wishing he could create more.
