Chapter Text
Caoilfionn was an independent witch. She tended to keep to herself and rarely interacted with other people unless necessary. Although she was kind hearted, she was introverted and shy. Not only that, Caoilfionn never bothered to become close with anyone who didn’t know the secret of magic. ‘You have to be born a witch,’ or ‘You can’t just learn magic,’ were the things that were said to cover up what the case truly was.
Caoilfionn was an independent witch. She never even talked to other witches that often, only when it was necessary. Non-magic users were the ones she never interacted with, no matter what.
Because of her lack of social experience, she was never used to talking to people.
One day, she was enjoying a quiet week. She wasn’t busy. She had just finished a job fixing a barrier on the path towards Cape Romonon, so her schedule was clear for a while.
As she was taking her time relaxing, she heard a knock on her door. She grumbled as she got up, stumbling on her own feet. She looked like a mess, as she was up late drinking the night before. Her normally tight curls were messy and undone, and she wasn’t in her typical witch uniform; she was still wearing the clothes she wore drinking instead.
She answered the door and said in a sharp tone, “What do you want..?”
Caoilfhionn looked up to see a beautiful young girl, no older than 19, standing at the door. She had long, raven black hair tied in a loose braid that fell softly over one shoulder. Her eyes were a dark gray, but they were kind eyes. She was just a bit shorter than Caoilfhionn.
“Uh-um! I’m sorry for disturbing you… I’m your neighbor, I live directly next door. I heard from my apartment that you got home pretty late, and I was concerned, so I decided I’d come the next morning to check on you… Oh! And I also made some pastries. They’re all random, since I wasn’t sure which one you’d prefer…” The girl at the door explained.
Caoilfionn leaned against her doorway. “Why exactly would you go out of your way to do this? I don’t even know your name.”
“I thought it would just be nice to do something to make someone’s day, it’s kind of a thing I do. ‘One good deed a day,’ I say to myself. Also, I noticed you’re rarely home. I was pretty surprised when I heard a thump next door. ‘That adorable pink witch must be home!’ I thought.”
“Uhh… I see…” Caoilfionn said awkwardly, scratching the back of her neck. A light pink blush appeared on her ears. “Well, anyways, thanks for the pastries. I was pretty hungry…”
The mystery girl giggled. “No problem! I hope you enjoy them!” The girl handed her the tin of pastries. She then politely bowed before she started her way down Caoilfhionn’s front steps.
“Ah, wait!” Caoilfhionn said, grabbing the girl’s hand. “Could you… tell me your name?”
“Oh, yes! My name is Aliniya. It’s nice to meet you, Miss Caoilfhionn,” She gave a small wave and ran off.
Caoilfhionn could only stand on her porch, watching Aliniya disappear into her own home.
