I Wish I Had Never Met You!

Summary:

Day seventeen of my Angstober! The Prompt: I wish I had never met you

Sebek & Silver, Silver & Lilia, Sebek & Malleus, broken friendship, cruel words, Sebek putting his foot in his mouth

Work Text:

“I wish I had never met you!” Sebek snapped, his teeth bared.

Silver froze, eyes wide with hurt and shock. His mouth dropped open before it snapped shut. Silver swallowed as he took a step back.

“That makes two of us.” Silver replied coldly before he turned and walked off.

Sebek watched him go, breathing hard before his own words punctured his cloud of rage and his heart dropped. Lilia had always told him that one day, his anger would get the better of him. Silver had disappeared into the dorm and now Sebek was stuck trying to figure out if he should go and apologize or let Silver have some space.

“It’s not my fault.” Sebek muttered.

Going back to his training, he tried to focus, but all he kept seeing was Silver’s heartbroken look.

“Ugh!” Sebek almost threw his sword, but remembered his manners and held on tight.

“Fine!” Sebek turned and stomped his way back into the dorm.

He searched for Silver, but no one had seen him. Eventually he headed for Silver’s room. As he got closer, he heard sobbing and his heart dropped. Lilia’s door was cracked open, the sobbing was coming from inside, and Sebek knew he was fucked. Steeling his nerves, he walked over and slowly peeked inside. The sight was awful. Silver was kneeling on the floor, his face buried in Lilia’s lap as he sobbed. Lilia was gently petting his hair and back, whispering soft words to his distressed son.

“I-I just don’t understand, Father! W-Why does he hate me so much!” Silver sobbed hysterically and Lilia sighed.

“Silver, Sebek does not hate you. I am sure he did not mean his words. You know he says things without thinking.” Lilia said gently.

Sebek winced. That was true, he often said things without thinking, no matter how many times Lilia warned him.

“I-It just feels like I can’t do anything right! He always treats me like garbage! I can’t take it anymore!” Silver cried.

Lilia sighed, but didn’t seem to know what to say. It was clear he was deeply hurt by his son’s tears. Sebek bit his lip and pulled back, hating that Silver’s cries actually felt like a physical dagger to the heart before he peeked back through the crack.

Only to meet Lilia’s burning angry eyes. Lilia’s eyes were narrowed in rage and Sebek felt his mouth go dry at the sight. He knew that Lilia’s anger was justified, but he also knew if he wanted to keep his position at Malleus’ side, he would need to apologize.

“I believe Sebek is feeling just awful about what he said. Isn’t that right, Sebek?” Lilia demanded.

With a twitch of his finger, the door jerked open, revealing Sebek to a now startled Silver. Silver stared at him in horror before he quickly reached up and tried to wipe his tears away.

“Sebek, do you have something to say to Silver?” Lilia asked, dangerously.

Sebek’s mind went blank. He had no idea what to say, his throat felt tight. He felt like he had been put on the spot. Silver was looking at him with such hopeful eyes and Sebek wanted to apologize. Wanted to make it right. His mouth on the other hand.

“I did nothing wrong! Silver was the one who was bothering me while I was training! I have nothing to apologize for!” Sebek stated.

Absolutely the wrong thing to say. Silver turned away and tears started again. Lilia grit his teeth and with another twitch of his finger, the door slammed shut in his face. Sebek winced as the sound echoed down the hallway. He swallowed hard, realizing he had just placed himself in an even deeper hole when a hand landed on his shoulder.

“Is that truly how you feel, Sebek?” Sebek’s head snapped around and his heart dropped.

“W-Waka-sama.” Sebek whispered, staring at Malleus' angry eyes.

“I believe you and I need to have a talk.”
