Dazai bent his knee and ducked his head down as his hands fiddled in his pockets. Chuuya looked at his face in confusion but didn’t say anything. As soon as Dazai found what he was looking for, he popped his head back up as he stood and smiled, his hand still in his pocket.
“Well, this already isn’t how I wanted it to go–but I guess there’s no going back now.” Dazai whispered but Chuuya only smiled at him, his own way of encouraging him to go on. “Um, ugh shit how do I say this?” Dazai bit his tongue.
Chuuya smiled, “I’ve never seen you so nervous mackerel, you know I don’t judge.”
Dazai chuckled and fiddled with the object, “Chuuya,” He looked at him in surprise when he used his name, “I–fuck, I don’t know how to say this so I’ll just spit it out. You mean so much to me, even if you are so fucking annoying sometimes, I don’t know how I would live without your constant griping. In this hell hole, you are the only thing I need.”
Chuuya clicked his teeth and shook his head. “Now I know that’s wrong, you can’t live without your whiskey and–”
Dazai cut him off with a deep laugh, it stuck deep in Chuuya’s heart. “Now Chuu, you know I mean with people.” Chuuya smiled at his comment.
“And I know we’re young, but to hell with it, you know?” Dazai stated and Chuuya nodded.
Dazai dipped down on one knee and brought out a dark red velvet box. He looked away from Chuuya’s face as he gasped lightly. “Chuuya Nakahara, will you marry me?”
Chuuya looked straight into Dazai’s eyes and he opened the box, the silver ring lined with small diamonds and one large light blue one right in the center. “Oh fuck you Dazai.” Chuuya chuckled and made Dazai stand up to look at him. He brought their foreheads together and smiled at Dazai’s expression. “You know I knew what you were up to right?”
Dazai nodded and brought their lips together. They were only eighteen. But this moment was perfect, everything was perfect, the ring, the–
He broke their lips apart and took the ring out from the box and ripped the glove off of Chuuya’s hand to place the ring where it belonged.
Dazai kissed the ring as he looked at Chuuya who smiled at him. “Chuu, now I have another question for you.”
Chuuya looked at Dazai in question but stayed quiet. “If I were to leave the Mafia, would you come with me?”
He didn’t respond but looked at the view from where they were. A secluded part of the beach, the sun set, the pier they were on creaked under their weight and Chuuya looked at the large building in the distance.
“I love you, so so much Dazai.” Chuuya stated and looked at the expression on his face, he already knew his answer. “I swear down that once you leave, we will still be married, but give me a bit more time to decide, please. If I leave now, I have to restart, I just can’t–you know I can’t.”
Dazai nodded and brushed the orange hair that blew in the breeze behind his ear. “I better see you soon.” Chuuya smiled and kissed Dazai’s palm.
“Of course, Osamu.” Dazai beamed and tackled Chuuya into another kiss, this one longer, but no heat behind it, only passion.

“Dazai.” Kunikida called from across the agency. He popped his head up from the desk and looked at him with a puzzled look on his face. “You have a meeting with the president.”
He hummed and stood up from his desk and walked to the president’s room. He sat down and looked at the president that took a sip of his tea.
“Dazai, we have a–situation to say the least.” He explained and sat his cup down on his large desk.
Dazai nodded, “What is it?”
He sighed, “Nakahara Chuuya.”
“Yeah?”
“He’s escaped the Mafia and is trying to join the ada. As a past member of the Mafia and his partner, what are you thinking?” He asked and Dazai sighed.
“President, I feel like you should know that me and Chuuya were very close.” He nodded, “While I was in the Mafia, me and Chuuya dated for around two years. Before I left, I proposed. I asked him to come with me but he said that he wanted to wait until he was ready.”
The president looked at Dazai and sighed, “And why didn’t you tell me this earlier?”
Dazai smiled, “I didn’t know what the consequences were when I joined and I didn’t want to risk losing all of this. Plus, relationships were never mentioned when I was at the Mafia, it was deemed a weakness.”
He smiled at him and slipped papers to Dazai, “Well, now that I know, I need you to sign these forms for marriage and I will get back to Chuuya about this job.”
Dazai grinned and took the paper from his desk. “I’ll get Chuuya to sign these as soon as I can, thank you.” Fukazawa smiled at Dazai as he exited his office.
He hummed as he walked back to his desk, the paper face down to hide it from Kunikida’s prying eyes. “What was it the president needed?” He asked as he tried to look at the paper.
“Oh nothing too interesting, just about a new employee.” Dazai brushed it off and waved to Kunikida as he exited the building.
“Dazai! You get back in here, hours are not over yet!”
“Boss said I could leave!”
~
Dazai waltzed over to a familiar penthouse and knocked on the door rapidly. “Chuu, open up.” He complained and the door cracked open.
“Dazai, why are you here?” He asked, his orange hair tossed up into a small bun on the top of his head.
“Well dearest, I have wonderful news and paperwork.” Chuuya sighed and opened the door so Dazai could walk in and sit on his wine red couch.
He grabbed onto his tan side bag, placed it on the coffee table and looked through the folders he had stacked in the small bag. “Ah, it’s this one.” Dazai smiled and pulled out the marriage paperwork.
Chuuya looked at the paper and sighed, “Did the president figure it out?”
Dazai grinned, “No, I told him. He asked about letting you in and I told him about us.”
Chuuya nodded and reached for the pen on the coffee table to fill out the paperwork. Dazai leaned back on the couch and looked at the view over the city. “I missed you, you know.” He explained and closed his eyes.
Chuuya smiled and looked at Dazai. “Yeah, me too, that’s why I came back to you.”
~
“Wake up Dazai.” Chuuya nudged him with a smile. “I need your signature.” Dazai yawned and stretched his hands over his head.
“How long have I been out?” He asked as he took the pen from Chuuya.
“Around an hour, I finished a while ago, figured I’d let you sleep, but it’s around time for dinner so I figured I’d ask you what you want.” Chuuya smiled and pushed Dazai’s bangs back.
He smiled and wrote his signature down on the blank. He hummed and looked at Chuuya. “Crab?”
Chuuya sighed and smiled, “Sure.”
~
Dazai lay on Chuuya’s bed and waited for him to be finished in the shower. He hummed and rolled his socked feet inward and out, in and out, in and out, and–
Chuuya chuckled at Dazai and he smiled. “Say Chuu, do the Mafia not know about this penthouse?”
“No, this was my safe house for bad days, I ended up using this more than the others, so when I left, I didn’t want to leave it.” Dazai nodded and looked at the ceiling.
“Are you going to move into the Agency dorms or stay here?”
Chuuya hummed as he sat down on the bed next to Dazai. “Well, wherever you are, I want to be there too.” Dazai smiled.
“Well, I want to be wherever you are too, the whole factor is money. I think the best thing to do is find another small apartment where it is a bit cheaper but a little closer to the Agency. And we should see if they allow pets.”
Chuuya smiled at the idea, “A puppy?”
Dazai grinned, “Sure, if you want one.”
Chuuya laid in the bed next to Dazai and he wrapped his hands around his middle. He hummed and placed his hands on top of his hands.
Dazai messed with the ring and Chuuya smiled, “Do you think we should tell the agency members that we’re married?”
He rolled his eyes and ran his thumb over the gem, “I think if we don’t tell them, at least one will figure it out soon enough, but I think it would be a fun game between us.” Chuuya nodded in agreement and closed his eyes.
~
The president stood in the front of the meeting room and waited for all of the members to sit down.
Once all of the members sat at their chairs he cleared his throat to get their attention. “Now I have some news. I know that we have not talked about a new spot since Dazai arrived, but something has come up, and I simply cannot decline.”
Ranpo chuckled but continued to stay focused at the front of the room. The president continued but this time looked at the door. “Now most of you might know him, so please give him your warm welcomes.”
On que, the door opened and two feet shuffled in, and all the heads turned in their direction. Dazai walked in first and led in Chuuya who kept his head down.
They stood at the front of the room and Dazai smiled, “Hey guys, this is Chuuya, I’m sure all of you know him–”
“How in the world do you know him?” A voice, Kunikida yelled from the long table.
“Well there’s this amazing story, and I would love to tell you all but only when you say hi to dear old Chuuya here?” Dazai grinned and stepped to the side to show Chuuya who grinned sheepishly and waved.
“Uh, hi, how are you guys?” He asked and Dazai clapped lightly.
Kenji smiled, “Hello, I’m really good, how about you?”
Chuuya smiled, “I’m good too, um.”
“Kenji, It’s nice to meet you.”
~
Chuuya smiled as he got situated at his new desk, his pens arranged neatly and looked at Dazai who grinned at him. “You like it?” He asked as he approached him.
Chuuya nodded and ran his fingers over the oak. “It’s not like the Mafia, but you’ve always been right, this is the right side.”
Dazai nodded and ignored the gaze of the eyes of his coworkers on his back. “Well it looks like I have to answer some questions, do you want to be there too?”
Chuuya sighed and nodded, “Sure, I feel like I’m a better explainer than you anyway.”
Dazai rolled his eyes and slapped his shoulder lightly. “Then come on, slow slug.”
He sat up from his desk and followed Dazai to where everyone else stood, waiting for him. Dazai smiled and clapped his hands together. “Oh my! Look at this crowd, Slug!”
Chuuya frowned and crossed his arms over his chest with a sigh. Kunikida clicked his tongue, “Dazai, at least be somewhat kind to him, you’ve only met him today.”
Dazai chuckled and leaned backward, “Should we tell him?” Dazai asked Chuuya who chuckled into his palm.
“Go for it mackerel, it’s not my decision.” Dazai rolled his eyes but smiled and faced the rest of the Agency who now looked really confused.
“Well when I was fourteen…”
“We met at fifteen Dazai.” Chuuya pointed out and Dazai shook his head.
“I’m starting from the very beginning, Slug, give me a few minutes, you don’t even know this.” Chuuya rolled his eyes and laughed.
“I know everything about you.”
“It may surprise you how much you don’t.” Dazai smiled and winked at him. “As I was saying, when I was fourteen, I met Mori. I walked into Bosses office and saw him standing over his bed, since the old boss was sick and old. As I was about to ask him a question, he slid his scalpel over the old man's neck.
“I stood there as he turned around, “Not a word of this.” He said to me and I nodded. I’ve seen worse, so I continued on with life. He became the next boss and I never spoke a word about it until now.” Dazai sighed dreamily and held his cheek.
“Now this really didn’t matter to the story but this got me to where I met Chuuya. I was put on a mission about an organization called the sheep, that’s where Chuuya was, he needed help to find information about a god, arahabaki, the god of destruction.
“Now this surprised me, but I agreed to help because this may be a good piece of information for the Mafia.”
Kunikida stopped him and shook his head, “Wait wait wait, the Mafia? You came from the Mafia?” He asked and Dazai looked at him dumbfounded.
“Duh, normal bosses from jobs don’t kill other bosses.” Dazai rolled his eyes but continued, “Well as I was saying, a lot of things happened blah blah blah, then Chuuya joined the Mafia after the sheep betrayed him.”
Chuuya sucked in a breath and Dazai gave him a smile, “Then we became partners and I left the Mafia at nineteen to come here. The end.”
“What the fuck.” Kunikida whispered and Dazai smiled.
“Kunikida cussed, oh my god! Chuu did you hear that!” He faced Chuuya who laughed and nodded, “Yes, I did, ‘Samu.”
Dazai giggled into his hand, “Oh my today is such an amazing day!”
~
They made it back home to Chuuya’s penthouse and Dazai tackled him as soon as he closed the door, “Dazai! What the hell!” He exclaimed and Dazai stuck his nose into his orange hair.
“I love you so much, I’m so glad you came back.” Dazai smiled and kissed his head. Chuuya held Dazai’s hand that snaked around his waist.
“Yeah yeah me too, what brought this up?” He asked and Dazai tackled him to the large couch.
“I just missed you so so much. You are definitely the right one.” Dazai laid on top of him and ran his fingers through his hair.
“I better fuckin be, we’ve been married for too long.” Chuuya pinched Dazai’s cheek. Dazai hummed in agreement and stuck his nose under his neck. “You’re a big baby, you know that?”
Dazai smiled and nodded, “If you told me that when I was fifteen, you would’ve been on the ground dead already.”
Chuuya shook his head, “You loved me too much then too, Osamu.”
Dazai licked his neck and Chuuya grabbed his hair. “I did.” He kissed his neck and Chuuya let a small moan come from his lips.
“Why didn’t you tell them I’m arahabaki?” Chuuya asked, his hands tugged on his hair harder.
Dazai licked over the hickey on his neck and hummed, “They’ll figure it out sooner or later, plus you didn’t want them to know, I could tell.”
Chuuya nodded as Dazai kept on working on his neck. “Don’t get them over my neckline, I don’t want my colleagues on my first day of work to think I’m a whore.”
Dazai chuckled as he brought his tongue over another purple bruise, this one a little higher. Chuuya didn’t protest as Dazai flicked up his choker and went to work there. “Are you not even going to kiss me right?” Chuuya asked and made eye contact with Chuuya who grinned at Dazai.
“Is that a proposal?” He asked and looked at the sparkle in Chuuya’s eyes. He nodded.
“It is.” Dazai pulled him close and interlocked their lips. Dazai pushed them together and Chuuya pushed back. Dazai tilted his head and Chuuya moaned into his mouth. “Such a tease.” Chuuya pulled back and licked his lips.
Dazai grinned and cradled his face, “I think we should start looking at apartments, that is if you’re up to it.”
Chuuya nodded and sat up with Dazai still on his lap. Dazai chuckled and rested his head on his chest as Chuuya picked up his phone next to him.
~
“Dazai, come on we’re going to be late.” Chuuya groaned as Dazai held onto his waist tightly.
“I’m always late anyways.” Dazai groaned and tucked his face into Chuuya’s hip where his own shirt lay on Chuuya’s body.
“Well now that I’m here, you’re not going to be.” Dazai groaned and shook his head. “Yes you are, come on, asshole!” Chuuya slapped his head and he sat up.
“Take a shower with me.”
Chuuya clicked his tongue, “Absolutely not! Then we will be late!”
Dazai groaned but stood up and drug his feet behind him, “Fine then Chibi, I see how it is, you don’t like me anymore.”
Chuuya rolled his eyes and walked after Dazai, “Wait for me then.” He rolled his eyes and Dazai grinned.
“Oh yay!” He exclaimed and waltzed into the bathroom with a pep in his step and a large smile on his face.
“Chuuya-san! You’re finally here! And Dazai-san!” Kenji smiled and ran up to them. “What took you so long?” He asked and looked at the coffee in Chuuya’s hand. “Oh you were getting coffee together.”
Chuuya nodded and took a sip, “Something like that.”
