Work Text:
It had been five years since the chain had parted ways. One year since Ganondorf had been defeated. Wild had missed his brothers dearly he would jump at the chance to see them again even just once...just one more time he would think. Hyrule was being rebuilt and Zelda has been busy leaving Wild to being lonely sometimes. Wild got up from his seat thanked the owner of the inn and grabbed his stuff and walked out the door. He walked down the new busy town that he was in until he got to the mini stable there Wild asked the front desk for his horse then a few minutes later Epona was led out by a stable worker.
"Hey there girl...How about I take you out for a walk?" Wild said while petting Epona on the neck. He hopped on Epona they started walking a path back to Hatano village where Wild said that he would meet up with Zelda. Wild hummed a tune Epona song. The horse perked up as if she already had heard his song before. Epona along with Wild on her back walked along the morning fog. It was always foggy in the mornings, so nothing was out of the normal. But Wild couldn't help but notice that the fog was thicker. It didn't have any odd color to it or anything it was just thick...
"What's up with this fog?" Wild questioned. Suddenly Epona startled and bucked Wild off running of into the fog. Wild grunted as he hit the ground hard. "Ow..fuck. Epona!? great..." Wild sighed as he got up from the ground. "Where did she go now?" Wild whistled for Epona hoping that she would come but she didn't. The fog began to get thicker. Wild couldn't see or hear Epona. He tried calling out to her but got nothing. "The fog is getting thicker... I need to find my way out." Wild walked for what seemed forever then wild came to a stop at a cave. “Weird…this wasn’t ever here before? Well, no time like right now!”
Wild entered the cave hoping to come out at the other side of the cave and finding Epona on the other side safe and okay. The cave was like any normal cave Wild had seen Lizards, Rocks, Moss, Brightbloom seeds, etc. A horde of keese came flying towards Wild. Wild ducked down as the keese passed him he wondered why there would be this many keese this deep into the cave maybe he was close to the way out? Who knows. When the keese finally cleared Wild stood up again and saw the exit he walked out of the cave only to be met with fog again. "Just my luck, eh?" Wild sighed but he thought he saw something or someone? Who would be out here at this time? Wild though as he jogged over to the person who of which was fake. Wild groaned.
"I swear I'm going insane I've got to be." Wild said. Then he see nine gravestones that looked like they were in a chain? He knelt down to get a closer look it was faded but he could read it.
~ HERE LAYS THE HEROES OF HYRULE. ~
LINK.
Wild chocked on his own breath. "No... these can't be-" Wild checked all the gravestones trying to read the faded text but he could make out his brother's names and hero tildes. These were he brothers were buried lay to rest- but how? How were their gravestones here? Wild sat down Infront of all of the stones nervous and sad. "Hi- I uh don't know how I found you all haha- but I'm glad that i did. I went on another adventure! Yeah, Ganondorf was not easy, but Hes gone now Floras been busy rebuilding the kingdom." Wild sighs as he brought up his knees to his chest. "I miss you all I'll just say it I miss talking with you all laughing, fighting, eating. I feel lonely without flora around and the other sages being busy. I miss Time's leadership Warrior's cockiness Legends snarky and rude demeaner Winds story's Fours calm but childlike personality Skys hugs Hyrule's knack for getting lost and Twilights motherly worry for all of us out of everything." Wild sits there for a while talking to the graves of the chain Wilds heart warmed when he saw that Time and Malon were buried together he wondered what their kids were like Wild imagined that they would have red hair like Malons and blue eyes like Times hopefully one of them wasn't cured with Times big ass nose when the chain first heard the old man sneeze it caused Smithy to jump off his chair that fell to the floor with him still in it and Warriors to trip on his scarf and somehow woke the sleeping Sky all in one.
Wild chuckled at the memory then he pulled out the Purah pad out came Nine flowers A Sundelion for sky. A blue Nightshade for Twilight. A Silent princess for Wind. A mighty thistle for Warriors and Legend. Wild pulled out four different colored flowers Green, Blue, Red, and Violet. He put them under Fours gravestone. For Time and Malon, a swift violet. Last but not least A muddle bud for Hyrule. Wild stood up and bowed to his fallen comrades. "Someday I know that we'll meet again just wait a little longer I'll meet you all in the afterlife." Wild said his final goodbyes to the chain as he walked away eight spirts float and watch Wild leave. "We'll meet again dear brother." Later that night Wild put in his will to be buried next to the other heroes of Hyrule.
