    Summary

    Julian and Nadia track Asra down, and all shields are dropped and hearts laid bare in the confrontation that follows.

    Because the Julian/Asra situationship never really was resolved in canon. So here, before they can move forward and help Altheia, Julian faces his fears, Asra works out his abandonment issues, and they both try to fully put the past behind them for good.

    “You left me,” he continued quietly, “but that was okay, because I had her!  I had Altheia back, Lucio was dead and the plague would be gone, and everything would go back to how it was.”
    “But it didn’t,” Julian said into the silence.  He bent slightly, bringing his head closer to Asra’s eye level.  “Did it?”
    Asra shook his head.  “No.  Lucio was dead, the plague was gone, you were gone, and Altheia…”  He choked back a sob.  “She was gone, too.  In all the ways that mattered.  But at least she needed me.  Like you needed me.”
