"Isn't this a bit cliche?" David asked.
Pascal just smiled at him, "yes, that's why it's fun!"
David sighed but settled back in the passenger seat.
For their anniversary this year, Pascal had gotten to pick what they would go out and do; he hadn't told David a single thing about it until they got in the car to drive out there.
So he was taking his boyfriend to the local pumpkin patch to walk through the jack-o'-lanterns.
They chatted the whole drive and Pascal took his hand the moment they were out of the car, swinging them a little as they walked around, looking at all the different cravings, a gigantic pumpkin that had won a prize, and a trail that was bathed in the orange light of the jack-o'-lanterns in the twilight.
David suggested they get something to eat as they finished the first area and so they went to get pumpkin pastries and mulled cider.
"They have pumpkin sausage." David pointed out as they sat to enjoy their meal.
Pascal laughed, "do you want some? I'll buy them."
David shook his head fast with a laugh, "no, I'm good. We'll get some other trinket to celebrate today."
After their meal they toured the rest of the farm, buying a couple pre-carved pumpkins as well as one for them to attempt to carve themselves before they left to start their drive to their dinner reservations.
"Still too cliche?" Pascal asked
David turned to him and smiled, "it was perfect, love."
Pascal smiled and took his hand again as he drove, suggesting all the different patterns they could carve into their pumpkin.
