Danny hadn’t planned on attending the school’s Halloween dance, but since none of the juniors had been interested in planning it, the faculty had drawn names. His was one of the five drawn for the planning committee.
It had been awful. None of them had wanted to do it, but even so, Danny thought, looking around, it had turned out pretty good.
Now he just had to stick around for the full four hours and then clean up. At least he was on friendly terms with most of the ghosts so tonight shouldn’t be interrupted.
Someone tapped his shoulder. He turned and found Sam dressed as a vampire.
“I didn’t think you were coming.” Danny said smiling.
“Tucker and I decided you shouldn’t be made to suffer alone. He’s over by the snack table.”
Danny turned and found Tucker. He was probably supposed to be a mummy but it just looked like he’d wrapped himself in toilet paper.
Danny himself was wearing a cheap knock off version of his Phantom costume. He had seen it at the costume store and immediately had to buy it. The overpriced costume was totally worth it, when Danny walked in and Wes immediately glared at him. Danny glanced over, and yup, Wes was still glaring at him.
“So, Danny, want to dance?” Sam asked.
Danny was surprised, but smiled, “Sure.” he said blushing.
Sam bit her lip as she stepped forward.
Sam was the only one who knew how to dance thanks to all the lessons her parents made her take, and Danny kept stepping on her toes.
Eventually they just settled on swaying to the music.
“You know…” Sam started, “I’ve always wanted to dance with death.”
Danny laughed and Sam smiled.
Between Wes’s frustration and this, the party hadn’t turned out bad at all.
