Work Text:
Candles
Jaehyuk came home after a long day at work. You couldn’t even call it a day really, because it had spilled well into the night. Being the ceo could be a real pain in the ass. He had never really minded before, but he was living with his boyfriend now. Making him impatient to go home as soon as he stepped into his office.
To make matters worse, it was raining cats and dogs that evening. Making the road slippery and congesting the traffic. He had been stuck in the same street for five minutes, cursing out the weather when an old man tried to cross the street. He didn’t see what had happened exactly, but five seconds later, the man was on the ground. So without thinking, he jumped out of his car, and ran to the man. He wasn’t hurt, just a little shaken. So he helped him cross the road and went back to his car, soaking wet.
The only thing that made him hold on was knowing Yeonho was waiting for him at home.
“I’m gonna go straight to bed when I’m home and cuddle with him, that’ll make me feel better.” He sighed to himself.
But when he stepped into their place that night, he was met with an unfamiliar scene. There was an incredible amount of lit candles everywhere in the house. He didn’t think he had ever seen so many, it must have taken Yeonoh hours to do. “That’s definitely a fire hazard. ”
“Yeonoh?” He called. But his boyfriend didn’t answer.
He couldn't, for the life of him, guess what his lover was trying to do. From his perspective it looked like he was trying to conduct some sort of ritual. It was the season of the witch after all, and Yeonoh was especially fond of it. No one could have such ethereal beauty without having a few skeletons in their closet.
He checked the apartment, there wasn’t a room that had been spared. But as he approached the bathroom, he heard some shuffling inside.
“Oh shit!” He heard his boyfriend curse, making him smile.
He could hear the water running, explaining why Yeonoh hadn’t heard him come home.
“Are you in there?” He asked as he opened the door.
He stood still at the door frame. Taking in the sight. The room was strewn with candles, multicoloured leaves of red, orange and yellow shades, as well as pine cones, and squashes. But the best sight was his boyfriend in a cream coloured silk robe that slipped off of his shoulder. He had stopped in his movement when the door opened, leaving his thigh totally exposed. Jaehuk swallowed at the sight, all the worries of his day, instantly disappearing.
“You’re home!” Yeonoh sprang out of his stupor.
He walked up to him and kissed him, his rosy cheeks getting rounder as he beamed at him.
“What are you doing?” He asked, wrapping his arms around him. “I thought I walked into a satanic ritual for a second.”
“Oh yeah, sorry about that.” He laughed sheepishly. “I wanted to order 20 candles, but it turns out I did something wrong, because I received 200. “
He motioned towards the bathroom. “I was only supposed to decorate here, but then I had more than enough to fill the whole place.”
“It looks great, it really does.” He said. “ But what about fire safety?”
“I made sure it was far away from any inflammable objects, your place is so empty it wasn’t hard.” He clicked his tongue.
Jaehyuk laughed at the comment, Yeonoh had a deep hatred for the minimalist style of the place.
“You have to admit that something a bit more cosy like this is better, right?” Yeonoh batted his eyelashes at him, clinging to his neck.
“Any place with you in it, is cosy.” He grinned. Knowing it would make his boyfriend blush.
Sure enough, Yeonoh’s rosy cheeks turned a deeper shade of red.
“Let's get in the bath before it gets cold.” He cleared his throat. “Why are you so wet anyway, didn’t you drive home?”
“I helped someone cross the street, that’s all.”
“Then hurry and get in the bath, before you get sick.”
He took off his clothes, his eyes never leaving Yeonoh’s figure as he slowly slid his silk robe down his back and onto the ground, then stepped into the bath. It was crazy how effortlessly sexy he was.
Jaehyuk joined him in , settling between Yeonoh’s soft back and the hard tub. He pulled his boyfriend into his arms, so they were comfortably installed and could relax.
“So, do you like it?” Yeonoh asked after a while, shuffling to the side so his cheek rested against his chest, looking up at him. The warm colours in the room made his hazel eyes look like golden jewels. “ Yes, warm colours it is .” Jaehyuk thought.
“It’s nice having some colourful decorations around, it feels cosy.” He smiled, kissing Yeonoh’s forehead. “It suits you more than the current grey.”
“Does that mean we’re redecorating, then?” He beamed.
“Yes, I give you my full trust.” He brushed a strand of hair out of his eyes. “Except for the candles.”
“Yeah I think I need to be stopped. I’m pretty sure it was halfway intentional.” He giggled.
Jaehyuk basked in the tenderness of the moment. Meeting Yeonoh had been the best thing that could ever happen to him. Coming home from a long rainy day to be greeted by the warm embrace of the one he loved, was priceless.
“I think I’m starting to like this season too.” He told the man in his arms, smiling down at him.
