Split Monkey Family

Summary:

Wukong and Macaque had been mates for centuries before they found MK as a cub and adopted him. Years later, after fighting too much, Macaque leaves Wukong. After a few months, Macaque found out that Wukong and he were going to have another cub. Macaque keeps their daughter Yue Yan hidden from Wukong.

Notes:

This takes place at the start of the show. There are some differences. Instead of his staff, Wukong used a seal to trap DBK. Macaque didn't get killed by Wukong like the show hints/we all know. He did lose an eye by Wukong. I came up with this AU before season 4. I may not include that season in this fic. If you want to know what Yue Yan looks like, here you go. https://munofsilver.tumblr.com/post/717964214685368320/remember-my-story-peach-fight-of-course-you-do

Chapter 1: MK meet Yue Yan

Chapter Text

“It has been almost a year since I left, and Yue Yan was brought into this world. Maybe I should go back to Wukong. It was a fight about something I don’t even remember anymore. I’m sure MK misses me. I know the visits aren’t enough. I should bring Yue Yan with me next time. I think MK should meet his younger sister. I can trust him. As far as I can tell, he doesn’t tell Wukong about the visits.”

Macaque has been having these thoughts for the past week. He’s going to visit his son tomorrow. He looks over at his sleeping daughter. She’s hugging her tail, which will tickle her nose occasionally. This time, it made her let out a cute little sneeze. Making Macaque smile.

In the morning, Macaque feeds Yue Yan some mashed-up mangos. She is only eight months old and can only eat mashed-up food now. After eating and cleaning up, Macaque changes clothes while Yue Yan tries to stay in one spot. Ever since she learned to crawl, the little cub has been exploring every chance she gets.

Right now, the door is open. Yue Yan notices and rolls over onto her stomach. Lifting herself onto her hands and knees. She makes it halfway to the door when her father picks her up with his tail.

“I don’t think so, Yue Yan. We are leaving soon,” he says, putting on his boots.

“We go?” Yue Yan can speak a little, not always saying the words correctly.

“Yes, my lovely cub. We are going to meet your big brother today. I think it’s about time you two meet.”

“MK?”

“Yes, MK.”

Macaque does talk about MK a lot with Yue Yan and very little about her other father, Wukong.

The truth is Yue Yan doesn’t know Wukong is her father. She thinks she only has one parent, and that’s Macaque. MK is old enough to live independently, so he doesn’t live with them.

Fully dressed, Macaque holds his cub in his arms. Like all monkey cubs, she grabs onto him, something she’s been doing since birth. MK was the same way at her age. Father and daughter head out.

MK is nervously waiting outside Pigsy’s Noodles Shop. He doesn’t mind the meeting place for his father, Macaque, to be where he works. Every time, he wonders what if his other father, Sun Wukong, comes by when Macaque does. So far, they have been lucky.

While waiting, he gets a text. After reading, the monkey, hiding in his human form, gets in his vehicle and drives off.

In a small park in the shadows wait a black-furred monkey with a smaller dark orange-furred monkey in his arms. MK enters the park before he can call out to his father; Macaque makes a shadow portal appear beneath MK’s feet, teleporting to the area where Macaque is hiding.

“Dad, why did you want to meet here?” MK seems unfazed by the random teleport.

He was dusting himself off and dropped his human disguise.

“I’m not complaining. Far from it. Usually yo……..Dad?”

MK sees the cub in Macaque’s arms. He’s pointing at her with his mouth ajar. Macaque lets out a nervous chuckle.

“Son, I want you to meet your sister. Yue Yan, this is your brother MK.”

“Big brader, MK,” Yue Yan coos.

Making them both have an aww moment.

“I’m sure you have questions,” Macaque looks around.

Then, he uses his shadow portal to teleport everyone somewhere more private.

At his dojo and his home, Macaque sets Yue Yan down in her little play area. The one area she can’t crawl out of because of the safety seals Macaque placed around the area. She stares at her father and brother while they sit on the nearby couch.

Once they sat on the couch, Macaque was going to offer to make some tea when MK spoke first.

“Why didn’t you tell me I had a sister?”

Macaque sighed; he was about to answer when MK asked more questions.

“Does father know? When will you introduce her to father? How old is she? Is her father Wukong? Why didn’t you tell me I had a sister?”

“You already asked that question. So I’ll answer that one first. I wanted to wait until Yue Yan was older before I told you. Yue Yan is eight months old. Wukong doesn’t know and don’t tell him. I don’t know when or if I will introduce them. Yes, Wukong is her father.”

Macaque looks at Yue Yan. Right now, she’s on her back, trying to put her foot in her mouth.

“You didn’t need to ask that question. You can tell Wukong is her father. She has the same fur color as him.”

MK looks at his little sister. She has orange fur like Wukong but darker—six ears like Macaque. The tip of her tail and a bit of the fur at the bottoms of her hands and feet are black like Macaque.

“I’m not sure why I asked that one.”

MK laughs nervously while rubbing the back of his head. He looks back at his father.

“Does this mean that all our visits will be here from now on?” MK asks with hope.

MK would rather visit Macaque at his place than at Pigsy’s Noodles.

The black-furred monkey thinks for a moment. Crossing his arms as he does. Glancing at his daughter before closing his eyes.

“Yes, our visits will take place here from now on. You can see where I live when you leave here.”

MK jumps up, cheering, “YES!”

His cheer makes Yue Yan stop trying to eat her foot and sit up.

Macaque laughs at his son’s reaction.

“I’ll go make us some tea. Please watch your sister while I do,” Macaque stands up and heads to the kitchen area to make some tea.

The siblings stare at each other for a while until Yue Yan lays on her back when she tries to put her foot in her mouth again.

“Your foot’s not food, Yue Yan.”

MK takes the cub’s foot away from her mouth. That didn’t seem to bother her as she put her tail in her mouth.

“Your tail, not food either. Are you hungry?”

MK wonders if maybe that’s the reason his sister is trying to eat herself. Sadly, he doesn’t know what to feed her.

“What does dad feed you?” MK asks like she’s going to answer.

“She’s not hungry. Yue Yan’s fangs are coming in, and she likes chewing on everything. Even herself and me.” Macaque answers for his daughter.

He comes in carrying a tray of two cups and a teapot. Back on the couch, he pours some tea for his son. Handing MK a cup.

“How was Yue Yan born?” MK asked while taking the tea that was offered to him.

Macaque sits down next to his son with his own cup. Taking a sip, he glances at his son.

“Do you really want me to answer that?”

MK thinks for a moment.

“Well, you and father are both males, and she looks just…….I don’t want to know,” MK looks away, taking a sip of tea himself.

A little sneeze made the two look over at Yue Yan. Chewing on her fluffy tail tickled her nose, yet she kept chewing.

“Why wouldn’t you want Father to know about Yue Yan?”

MK is still looking at his sister while he asks Macaque the question.

Macaque is also looking at the little cub.

“Remember why I left?”

“I remember you and Father fighting a lot, and you left. No one told me why.”

“Until I know he’s forgiven me, I don’t want him to know about Yue Yan,” Macaque sounds regretful.

“He does want you back,” MK assures his father.

Macaque looks sadly at MK. He knows Wukong wants him back. That’s not what the issue is.

“I know.” Macaque pauses,” Does he forgive me?”

MK tilts his head. He doesn’t understand what Macaque is talking about.

“For leaving?” MK asked.

Macaque sighs as he leans back, “For one, yes.”

Macaque looks at his children, “Maybe I should ask him myself.”

MK eyes light up with joy as his tail wags. Macaque noticed he spoke out loud when he saw MK’s face.

“It’s only a thought,” Macaque coughs into his hand.

The black-furred monkey does want to see his mate again, but he’s unsure. Macaque may not be ready. Wukong may not be ready, but he thinks he is.

The room goes silent while Macaque thinks. MK stares at his father briefly before focusing on his sister.

“Wait a minute. When you were visiting me, who was looking after Yue Yan?”

The brown-furred monkey looks at Macaque with narrow eyes.

“A shadow clone, of course. I see what the clone sees. Nothing gets past my hearing even if I’m not around.”

Macaque’s ears twitch. He has two of them out and only brings all six when he needs to pinpoint or find something. Like a little cub playing hide and seek when Macaque doesn’t want to play.

Soon, MK’s phone alarm goes off, telling them that the visiting time is over and someone has to return to work.

“Until next time,” MK sighs, putting his phone away.

“Now that you know of Yue Yan, how about our visits every week instead of every other?”

Once again, MK’s eyes light up as his tail wags fast with joy. Macaque laughs loudly.

“I take that as a yes. Remember to come here.”

MK nods and rushes out the door. Macaque picks up the tray and puts the dirty cups and teapot away to be cleaned later. He came out at the same time MK came back in.

“You teleported me here.”

“Did you get the address here?”

MK nods, and then the ground underneath him opens up as Macaque’s shadow portal returns MK to the park they met before.

Macaque picks up Yue Yan, giving her a toy that is safe for her to chew on so she can stop chewing on her tail and won’t try to chew on Macaque’s anything. She was eyeing his ear.

“Now that MK knows, I wonder how long until he tells someone. My guess will be it was by accident.”
