Chapter Text
Mika isn't necessarily into poetry. Has never done it or barely reads any. Sometimes, he catches himself in the middle of a prosaic thought, but he never writes it down. Why would he? It's not like he has time for it either.
He's a busy guy. His work is cut out at the Guild, and with Varka, he is constantly on the move to new locations and places to discover, places to map. Then when he gets vacation, he mostly sleeps, or updates his old maps, because he likes to walk. That's what relaxing is, for him.
But lately, he has been a lot busier than previously. And it's all because of The Captain of none other than The Fatui Harbingers; Il Capitano.
It's weird to say, or think about. So he doesn't, he let's the moment take him instead.
It happened a few months back, a cold day in August on the roads of Dragonspine, was when they first laid eyes on eachother. Mika at the time was scared to be standing in the middle of what seemed to be war. Until Varka stepped forward and greeted the man the most ordinary way.
Capitano and his fatui soldiers stood down, and so did Varka and the knights who were around. Mika trembled with fear, Capitano's eyes were untrackable, unless he turned his head, yet Mika could feel those blue eyes, staring directly into his.
He didn't think he'd ever see the man again. It took a solid week to gather the courage to go out alone again, something he enjoyed doing quite often. Finally when he was tasked to reconnaissance a nearby cave, he saw him again.
His feet shook, he remembers clearly, his forehead was covered in sweat in less than a minute, even with the below zero temperatures.
But what he found odd was that Capitano, was also alone.
"I've been waiting to see you." Capitano's voice rumbled through the cave.
"Me?" Mika choked out. "Wh- why me?- What?" he was shaking.
"Of course you." Capitano said, like it was completely obvious.
"I think about you," he took a step towards Mika, his boot clicking against the ice on the path of the cave. "I haven't got your name yet, my soldiers are quite useless," he chuckled "but you stood out so well among the burly knights of Mondstadt, when my eyes caught yours, I could not stop myself from finding you."
Mika was frozen, he had not a clue what to say.
"Why?" was all he could ask.
"Why?" Capitano asked back. "Why not?" a smile was obvious from his voice. He was playing with Mika, and there was probably nothing Mika could do, he wasn't at all strong enough to even try to fight this man, he wasn't even strong enough to move right now. Running would be useless. Capitano would catch up to him in no time, beside, its not like he wants to stop this casual conversation.
"I-" Mika wanted to say something back, but his voice was caught in his throat. Capitano waited, then when Mika couldn't get one word out, he continued.
"Cat got your tongue? No need to be so stiff, I am not your enemy right now," he was getting uncomfortably close to Mika, he was standing only a few steps away from him. "I am a simple man, if I see something I really want, I must try to achieve it."
Mika gulped, "Want?"
"He speaks, how wonderful." a chuckle left him, non-threatening, weirdly enough.
"Yes, want." his voice turned completely serious.
"Your name is all I want for now, then you may leave, if you want. Though I would prefer you stay." he sounded playful.
Was he really seducing Mika? Surely this was really just a way to embarrase or distract him. A powerful man like Capitano would never be even slightly interested in a low-life introvert like Mika.
"My n-name..." Mika thought for a second, would it be safe to tell him? Giving out only his first name was probably alright, Capitano already knew him by looks, and he could track him down just by that, so why did he want his name? Was he actually just interested?
Capitano is a handsome man. Mika cannot lie about that. Doesn't matter what you are into, Capitano just looked good. Tall, broad shoulders, a deep voice, and giant hands, he could probably lift Mika up by his neck, and Mika would probably not complain too much about that, he'd probably like it to happe-
He cut that thought off.
"Mika," he blurted it out "my n-name is Mika." he took a step back, Capitano was getting too close.
"Mika..." Capitano thought, "What a beautiful name, fits you well." he said.
"But, as I said, that is all I require for now, you may leave, if you want."
Mika couldn't move. He turned around, but he couldn't decide if he really wanted to leave.
"But," he turned to face Capitano again. "why?"
Capitano laughed, and lifted his hand to the pitch darkness in his mask.
"I've already told you, Junebug." he rested his hands on top of eachother. "I want to get to know you, Mika."
Mika could feel his breath quicken.
"Get to know how?" he was speaking out of place, he should shut up, he should turn around, and go back to camp. But he won't, not yet.
"Mika," Capitano started, his voice low, "You are the most beautiful creature I have ever witnessed, that is why. Do not be afraid my darling, I have been aching to watch you," he walked towards Mika, then stopped when he was just a few steps before him. "And now I will finally get to."
He leaned into Mika's face, the boy leaned back.
"I have no ulterior motives I promise, just allow me," he placed his hand on his chest "to feel you."
Mika gasped, started taking steps backwards at the dirty sentence, when he slipped on the ice beneath him.
Capitano moved closer, got on his knees and then climbed towards Mika.
"I won't do anything you don't like, a promise I'll never break, just please" he was begging, archons "your face, your hair, your body! Anything will do!"
Mika was gasping, archons what this really happening?
He couldn't help but, spread his legs.
"Yes.." Capitano hissed.
Mika wanted to throw himself back, he wanted to feel this man, and let the man feel him. It was a sinful, filthy thought, and yet he couldn't help himself.
Capitano was reaching for him, he was spreading Mika's legs with is own, his hands were flying right over Mika's chest, he was about tear off the shirt the boy was wearing, when-
The thumping of feet could be heard from the nearby entrance of the icy cave.
"Mika!" a male voice shouted out.
"You idiot don't shout!"
Capitano looked into the direction of the voices, then immediately moved away from the boy and without a trace, he disappeared.
"Its a cave you moron, if you speak too loud it might fall upon all of us!"
The two knights were finally standing in Mika's sight. They were walking towards him, then stopped to see the boy laying on the ground of the cave.
"Mika!" the soldiers ran towards him in a hurry "What happened? You weren't attacked were you?"
"No no no I am, fine, just-" he thought of an excuse.
"Be careful, the road is icy, I fell." he lied.
"Oh alright then."
"Why are you here?"
"Varka sent us." one of the knights beamed.
"He realized it wasn't the safest to send you off alone, with what happened just a week back."
said the knight.
"Ah, well I am quite fine thank you, but the worry is appreciated." he chuckled, as he stood up. "You may go, I can take care of myself really, and this is boring work anyway it wouldn't ineterest you, you'd be bored." He tried to slip away with that, but one of the knights grabbed him.
"Sorry Mika but no. Varka instructed us to stay with you incase anything happens, its true we don't find your work too interesting, but safety comes first."
Mika cringed a little, he wanted the be with Capitano, as absolutely bonkers that sounded right now.
"Fine, of course, let's go." Mika said, annoyed, then turned around and left to discover the cave.
Capitano stood in the shadows, frustrated but very turned on. He couldn't get the image of the boy underneath him out of his head. Mika spread his legs for him, how lovely.
Ever since all of this, Mika and Capitano were inseparable.
A few days after it happened, Mika went back to the same cave, and practically ran into the man's arm when he appeared out of nowhere.
That was their first night together. Mika left a few weeks later to give the report to the Knights of Favonious about the meet between the fatui and the knights, it was akward and he also didn't want to do it.
He thought he'd only be away for a few days before he could get back to Dragonspine and see Capitano again. But multiple things kept him there, he could only get back 3 times to his forbidden lover, before Noelle came to him one day.
She asked him to be so kind and come with her to some sort of poetry gala. And sadly Mika couldn't say no, he's never been good at that.
He didn't get to see Capitano before heading off for an entire week, and Capitano got frustrated.
He sent off a few soldiers to see what had happened to his beloved. From two of his spies staying in Mondstadt he got word back that Mika and 'a girl from the Knights' were headed to Liyue. Then, from soldiers stationed in Liyue, he found that they were seen near Wangshu Inn.
Archons, Capitano cursed at himself. He had to head to Natlan in a few days, he was already putting it off with all kinds of excuses, just so every few days he could see Mika, and now the boy was running off to Liyue for who knows what!?
Capitano was yearning for him, he couldn't help it but put together a small group, and head to Liyue.
The rest of the soldiers were sent off to Natlan, with the instructions to arrive at the already discussed location of their stay, and then wait for further instructions.
Bitterly, he headed to Liyue, to try and find his 'junebug', fuck him into the ground, and then leave.
To archons he was going to kill that boy for all his shenanigans.
If not marry him first.
