Work Text:
The door slowly creaked open allowing light from the hallways to flood a bit of the darkened room.
Craig peeked in, eyes shifting nervously back and forth for any sign of danger or shadowy monsters before landing on the slumbering figure in the bed. With relief in his eyes, Craig slipped in, quietly closing the door behind him.
Tiptoeing in, he approached the slumbering figure. Craig smiled softly as he looked down at the softly snoring figure. Though he had a heavy blanket pulled over his face, his blond hair was sticking out, like a cactus. It made the jet giggle. His usually combed down hair was sticking up everywhere, much like Craig's own. He really loved his bed-hair.
Then Craig remembered why he was here.
Craig tried to hold it in. He really did. He was okay. He was okay! He had just been sleeping, that's why he hadn't been answering his text- But wait- Was he breathing? He didn't look like he was breathing! Oh god, was he dead?! Was that why he hadn't been answering his texts?! Because he was dead?!
In his distress, the jet let out a loud enough shriek to shake the whole house.
“WAAAAH!”
There was barely a movement coming from the pile of blankets. Eventually, the comforter was pulled off to reveal Tweek’s drowsy face. His blue-eyes half-lidded and he had a bit of dry drool down his chin. Smacking his dry lips, he wiped the drool away and looked up at Craig with fondness. “Hi Craig.”
Craig nearly sobbed. “H-Honey! Why haven’t you been answering my text?!”
“Because it’s…” Tweek squinted at his alarm clock. “9 o’clock. And a Saturday. It’s illegal to be awake before 12 on a weekend, you know.”
“I-It is?! But I’m always awake before 12! Am I going to jail?! I can’t go to jail! I don’t want to drop the soap or something! I'm going to die in jail”
“Dude.” Tweek huffed affectionately, before raising the blanket and patting a spot right next to him. “Come on, did you even get any sleep last night? You look like you haven’t slept at all.”
“I slept! …For like an hour…” Craig muttered the last part but climbed up next to Tweek and immediately made himself comfortable. "It's not my fault that coffee tastes so good..."
"We really need to wean you off the stuff. It's not good for you... But as long as it's not my parent's crappy coffee..."
"Mm... I know, I know. No coffee from your parent's place, only pastries."
Despite being a few inches taller than Tweek, Craig tucked his legs and arms close to fit in Tweek’s embrace, sighing as he buried his face into Tweek’s pajama shirt. He smiled when he smelled the scent of coffee. Though it was faint, that familiar scent never failed to bring comfort to his fraying nerves. Even though Tweek hated working at his parent’s coffee shop, Craig loved it. And the free hot chocolate and cupcakes that came with it too.
Craig pressed closer.
“You know I’m not made of coffee, right?” Tweek huffed when he felt how wet his chest was. “Eww dude, you’re drooling on me.”
“Shuddup… You just smell so good.” Craig slurred, feeling his eyes growing heavier by the second.
It was only in his boyfriend’s arms that he was able to feel as if the world wasn’t going to end in any second. It never failed to amaze Craig. How could he have spent nearly 10 years of his anxiety-riddled life without this kind of reassurance? The last 3 years since they were forcefully pushed together felt like a dream, and he never wanted to wake up from this amazing dream. He never wanted to leave Tweek’s comforting arms.
His parents had and still tried to help him, investing in fidget toys and taking Craig to therapists and doctors to help lower his high anxiety. But no number of toys, therapy, and talking combined could ever amount to the comfort his coffee-smelling, ever-so-blunt, amazingly strong and reassuring Tweek.
His boyfriend.
That thought never failed to send warmth through his entire being and down to his soul.
The two laid together in Tweek’s bed, Tweek idly brushing his fingers through Craig’s messy hair and Craig listening to the steady heartbeat of Tweek’s heart. A lullaby soothing to his fraying nerves.
“I do have to get up later for work…” Tweek whispered after a moment. He pressed a kiss to the top of Craig’s head. “But I’ll shoot a text to them later that I’m busy cuddling my Craig.”
“Nngh… I don’t want you to get into trouble, babe.” Craig protested weakly.
Truthfully, Craig couldn’t care less if they never got out of this bed. He just wanted to stay in Tweek’s strong arms forever.
“Don’t worry, Craig. If they have a problem with it, I’ll just flip them off.”
Craig giggled.
Looking up at Tweek as he looked down at him, the two shared a bright smile. Burying themselves deeper into the warm bed, the two quickly fell asleep.
