Chapter Text
The last thing regulus remembered before his death were the hands of the inferi dragging him under the water, deeper, and deeper,
His vision going darker, only thinking of one thing.
The last thought he had was begging his brother to save him, knowing that even if sirius was present, he wouldn't reach out for the death eater brother he left behind for a reason.
He often wondered why sirius left him withought putting up a fight for him or dragging regulus along. He knew that he would never forgive his brother for leaving him behind in that hell house that almost ended him. However, he knew deep down, that even if sirius tried bringing him along, regulus would've been too scared.
Regulus would've been too scared to leave his parents, being the last heir and knowing he couldn't be let go like sirius was. But maybe, in some other time, he would've been brave enough to leave.
But he was a slytherin for a reason.
But maybe there was a lie and he had one more thought, because there was also another person he thought of beside sirius while being dragged down to his demise.
James.
His Jamie, who he betrayed by taking the dark mark.the boy who was his everything before. What would he think of him now? Pathetically dying trying to help their side. Trying to help them.
The two people he loved the most, never knowing what he did to get to them, and failing.
It didn't matter now, he knew when he found out about the horcrux he would die.
But he hoped, hoped that maybe he could try hard enough and survive.
He didn't.
What Regulus never knew, was that after his passing there was a star grieving in the hands of the sun.
And that night the sun also weeped.
___________
The first thing Regulus remembered after his death was being in a dark hallway, somewhere in the hidden parts of hogwarts.
He went around looking for people, confused about what was going on and why he was there , but at that time his memory was foggy so he couldn't quite remember.
He turned the first corner to see a common hallway that usually had many students. Where is everyone?
He continued down the hallway until he saw the headmaster passing by.
He dashed to the other end , calling after dumbledore.
"Dumbledore." The headmaster turned around, startled to be hearing a voice he hadn't heard in quite some time.
In front of him stood a man proclaimed dead 3 years back.
There stood Regulus Black, although different from his 17 year old self, he still held the same Black features his whole family wore. He was bearing a standard cloak over black formal attire that looked like a weird mix of muggle and wizard. Over it, he had a green pendant with a star.
"Regulus." He said, curiously. It was obvious that Regulus was a ghost now, but it seemed as if Regulus himself hadn't noticed yet.
Dumbledore stood there eyeing him peculiarly. He noticed the boy (?) Anxiously fidgeting with his rings, and was ready to ask him the question anyone would be asking.
"What happened to you Regulus? "
Only then it clicked, and Regulus' memory became clear.
He was dead and a ghost now at Hogwarts.
