Chapter Text
Context:
There’s a lot of changes in terms of the characters that may not be obvious at first glance or observation, mainly because I’m planning a major complete rewrite manual-thing to this series to make it better (which will eventually be uploaded). I mainly did this for fun (so please don’t turn this into a fan war in the comments), but let’s get some of the important stuff out of the way so no one’s confused.
One, Marinette no longer has a creepy obsession with Adrien. This version of Marinette is more confident and thus doesn’t feel like she needs a guy to make her happy. While she does think Adrien is cute, she treats her attraction to him as more of a casual celebrity crush because she recognizes that Adrien is his own person. She will like him eventually, but she doesn’t immediately fall in love with the guy.
I wanted their dynamic to be set up this way so that way Marinette isn’t objectifying him and it leaves room for their relationship to actually grow. This means she’s able to converse with him without having a seizure (gasp). If anything, she’s slightly more attracted to Cat Noir because she’s a little closer to him than she is Adrien considering they work together everyday. Keyword on slightly, though.
Two, Ladybug’s new hero outfit allows her to fly. Because she’s a ladybug and they fly. So please tell me why the [BLEEP] does she have a yo-yo and swings around like Spiderman? I know that Spiderman is lit, but be more original, dang it. I would not be surprised if Ladybug was just some Spiderman OC made by the creator of the show. Obviously, I will keep the yo-yo in her arsenal since it’s also her akuma catcher, but I just find it stupid that she…as a ladybug…doesn’t have wings. Neither does Tikki which is weird. So yeah, she and Tikki have wings now.
Three, I believe that Nathaniel was severely underused. It feels like they just needed another reason for a villain to come along for a filler episode, so they had just him crush on Marinette for no reason. In my opinion, he should’ve taken the place of Luka as a love interest fighting against Adrien for Marinette’s attention (if the love triangle HAS to be in it, even though I personally think it’s unnecessary).
To me, Nathaniel had a lot of potential to be more than what he was used for but was just cast off to the side. Because in the episode of Evillustrator, his crush on Marinette feels a little unnatural in terms of how they are together. Marinette hardly talks to the guy. Now, I’m not saying that it’s not possible for a guy to be really shy about talking to a girl he thinks is cute. All I’m saying is that if he is gonna have a crush on her, let there be a slightly better reason other than, “Oh, she’s the protagonist and is really cute, ur-dur.” This is why in this rewrite of the episode, I not only created a reason, but also made sure there was actual history behind their interactions, too. So that way he’s not just a blank orange slate.
A lot of the stuff for this episode rewrite will be similar, but there will be some changes that I think will have made this episode more effective in terms of character interactions. Feel free to give me your thoughts - even if you disagree. I'd like to see everyone's viewpoints (preferably in a respectful manner, this is literally just a show).
Thank you and have fun (hopefully) :)
