Chapter Text
Tommy could hear his heart pounding in his ears. It felt so loud. To be fair it was the only thing he could hear anymore, though even that was growing dim.
And then it all stopped.

It felt like he was a floating nothingness, he knew there had to be something or else he wouldn’t be able to feel, or think for that matter. Not like it mattered anyway. He was just nothing after all.
And then he was something.

Opening his eyes was a time consuming process of being unable to sleep, but not wanting to wake up. Eventually his will cracked and he opened his eyes again despite being dead.
Everything looked pastel and soft, and there was someone, no, something it almost looked like a rabbit-cat-thing that was screeching, “Wake up! Wake up! Wak- oh good, you’re awake! I am Miso, your guide to your romantic life. Remember only people with a pink heart next to their names are romanceable, while people with stars, x’s, and any other colored heart are just friends. On that note, get ready for your first day of school, then meet me in the kitchen.” Miso disappeared in a flurry of glitter.
Tommy sat there for a minute before forcing himself to get up. He found himself subconsciously walking to the closet door. Which, upon opening, looked like a unicorn threw up in it with far too many colors, patterns, and especially glitter. He only saw that mess for a second before an arrow appeared before him, guiding to a section labeled “Uniform Variations”.
Tommy grabbed the red and maroon variation and quickly put it on. One glance in a mirror afterwards was enough to make him gag, his curly blonde hair fell perfectly to his shoulders, the man in the mirror looked like a perfect, rich version of how he used to look. If his heart could stop again it definitely would’ve by now.
He was broken from his thoughts when Miso’s voice echoed around his repeating, “Get ready for school, then meet me in the kitchen.” At the reminder Tommy moved to the door of the bedroom and took a deep breath before grabbing the handle and stepping out the door which simply led to a hallway with pictures that definitely had subjects, yet no matter how hard he focused, he couldn’t tell much about them, not even its colors.
Suddenly remembering again to find the kitchen, he headed down the hallway, and toward the smell of food. Upon finding the kitchen he saw Miso hovering over a plate of the most delicious and smelling food he’d seen in his life, which wasn’t difficult to beat truth be told.
Tommy’s attention was suddenly drawn back to Miso as they said, “Eat fast! We’re running late! Meet me by the door when you finish eating.” Then Miso yet again disappeared in a flurry of glitter though this time there were flowers in it too.
He took the seat in front of the plate of food, picked up and began eating. Tommy could’ve when he tasted the perfectly fluffy and light pancakes, the crisp juicy bacon, or the tender flavorful sausage. After finishing his breakfast, the plate disappeared into bubbles which caught him off guard, and if you heard a scream, then it must have been Miso because Tommy was a big man and big men didn’t scream at bubbles.
After having a mild moment of panic, he regained his composure, grabbed a backpack off the back of the chair, and headed to the front door where Miso was waiting for him. “Ready to go young loverboy?” Two options appeared in front of him: yes or no, which of course, he picked yes because he wanted to get this over with. “Good! Remember, only romanticize people with pink hearts! Goodbye now!”
Tommy felt his hand twitch causing him to glance at it and it was slowly disintegrating into glitter, and he felt a sudden feeling of terror when it started spreading.
And then, nothingness all over again.
