Work Text:
(A/N: The Felix is PV/OG Felix Agreste (Anime Felix))
You were the tale I would never forget...
He hated her at first.
They had to work together since his manager was sick.
She was a replacement of her.
His manager had promised him she was highly capable and was excellent at English.
He was at France, specifically in Paris to do work and get inspiration for his upcoming book.
When his manager unfortunately fell sick a few days before the trip, so, she searched for her replacement.
She then gave him Marinette, who is his new and replacement manager.
He disliked her at a glance, she wasn't as professional as his bed-ridden manager was.
Her outfit was strewn across, she had this talkative and cheerful person. Overall, he felt uncomfortable with her.
It was foreign to him.
And he dislike it...
Well, soon enough, he would regret what he thought of her.
Well, they used to bicker...
Yet, he admits, she does her work well.
What he didn't know was, she was Ladybug, her pen name for the books she had wrote.
Also his bias.
He really loves Ladybug. He is an avid fan of hers, which he wouldn't admit out loud. Ladybug, a well known author, who has a mysterious identity. Her fantasy with romance books are famous around the world.
Well, he also has his alter ego, Chat Noir, equally as famous as his civilian self. Who is also a huge fan of Ladybug, which everyone knew about.
He is well known as writing good romance and flirty books, especially in boys' points of view. Which made it quite popular with the girls and also the boys.
He is charming and flirty, even in words on ink in his books.
His civillian self writes historic or mysteries and a bit of romance.
He is the polar opposite of his alter-ego.
Chat Noir is this flirty, romantic charismatic and suave person.
While his civillian self is cold and stoic, quiet. Introverted. He is quite well known as a stoic and mysterious.
Marinette on the other hand...
Doesn't have much luck as Felix...
She was also a writer as her job, well as a side job, she isn't exactly that popular.
That's why she had taken the job to manage another writer's work, Felix's work. She thought it was a good opportunity to learn and get some good money.
His manager found her by chance. She was in this writing/literacy event and his manager had read and loved her work.
So when the manager needed replacement, his manager somehow recommended her immediately to him-
She was also baffled at the situation but accepted because it was a good offer for her.
Ladybug was her alter ego. She made it by accident and somehow it turned to be popular.
She wrote fantasy romance in an app. It turns out to be a hit. So it was made into print and her identity remained undisclosed because she thought it was better off that way.
She was also polar opposite of her civillian self. She lacks the confidence of her alter ego. She is nice yet gets nervous easily. She's shy but friendly to people.
Quite the sunshine type.
Her civillian self doesn't share the same luck as her alter ego. As her civillian books (works) mostly failed compared to her alter ego's work, which is a major hit.
Her works were slice of life and modern romance (high school). Yet they aren't as successful as Ladybug's.
She had wondered why it failed since they both had similar style.
Just different genres.
She knew her alter ego was amazingly disguised. And somehow very loved by people.
Somehow popular enough to sell world wide, her success writing career as a mysterious figure.
Alongside Chat Noir, she suppose.
She knew Chat Noir loved her work since he had been very vocal. He went as far as wrote a few books dedicated to her! Even about her!
She was embarrassed but was flattered and touched about it.
He came second to her in terms of popularity.
She admits that he's kind of charming yet she doesn't held much feelings merely friendship.
Well, back to Felix....
She was a huge fan of him! She really loved his books.
Even before she met him. His works where really charming. Alongside Chat Noir's.
She loved his work and was excited when she got to work with him. That made her very chatty and excited when being with him.
To be honest, she was merely inspired by him until...she fell for him when on the fateful day.
They had discussed regarding matters for a long time and when they finished it was already afternoon, almost evening.
And it was raining....
As she stepped out of the door and under the cafe's canopy. Watching water droplets fall to the ground.
Regretting not bringing her umbrella that day because she forgot.
Knowing that she have a pile of work waiting for her to do.
She was inwardly regretting her past choices when a shadow blocked her sight.
She looked upwards to be met with blue grey-ish eyes staring at her back at her as their eyes met.
Her eyes widened, her visible shock was noticeable.
Felix was handing out His umbrella to her.
She looked at him in surprise and confusement at his actions.
As he shrugged nonchalantly.
"Take it" He offered and moved the unbrella closer to Marinette as she took a step back.
Marinette shook her head, "No, I can't! You need it and it's yours"
He stared at her with deadpan eyes, "Look who is speaking when said person needs umbrella to walk back home"
"W-what...?" Her eyes widened at what he uttered. Before she could continue..
"I am getting picked up by a driver anyways. I don't need it and it is my umbrella, I can do anything with it."
"I can also give it to you" As he put the umbrella nearer to her.
Marinette was baffled at her current predicament.
She wanted to deny the offer he was making but she somehow knew that he wouldn't take a no from her.
Their eyes met and they had an intense gaze.
Marinette stared at him mezmerized at his beauty. She wouldn't dare to say it out loud but...
Felix is very handsome.
His soft golden blonde hair and his icy blue eyes. They compliment each other beautifully.
With his sharp features and mysterious aura that accompanies him.
It's a match made in heaven.
As he cleared his throat after a few minutes of them staring at each other's eyes.
Felix finally handed the umbrella to Marinette's hands. She took it graciously and held it in her hands.
Marinette flushed after their gaze and thankfulness of him giving his umbrella when he didn't need to.
"Uhh, Thank you very much for the umbrella. It was considerate of you. You didn't have to." She thanked him, slightly bowing to avoid his gaze and to show her gratefullness.
"Ahem, it was no problem and I can't have my manager get a cold huh?" He mused while she flushed in embarrassment.
How unprofesional she was. She thought.
"Uhuh, yes, my bad..." She tucks a strand back behind her ear.
After she uttered that, the umbrella that was in her hand closed onto her.
"Eek!" She squealed in surprise as the umbrella covered her vision.
She could hear laughter from in front of her.
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha-" A deep chuckling voice was heard. Felix's laugh...
As she reopened the umbrella back. She stared at the laughing Felix's face.
He looked...adorable...
Charming and blindingly bright as his laughter was contagious.
She laughed alongside him.
"Ha ha, that was hilarious" He still had a slight chuckle in his tone, he was slightly smiling. He was definitely amused at her clumsiness.
"Ha, yes, I am quite clumsy" She lightly blushed in embarrassment.
There was a slight honk, as Felix's head turned to the source of sound and went back to her.
"I need to go, but it was an amusing event, Ms Marinette. I will see you soon" His lips were tilted slightly upwards, definitely humoured as he turned and walked away. Rushing through the rain.
As she stared at him, snapped out of her reverie, as she shouted to his farewell, "You too! Good bye, see you tomorrow. Take care!"
She hoped he heard as she watched his car rushed away from her sight.
She could never forgot the golden memory of that day.
Since then she had a slight crush at him.
Correction,
Major crush on him.
That's why she acts very shy and isn't talking much to him.
Because she is very scared of embarrassing herself.
Its hard to act rational in front of him.
Funnily enough, Felix realized the small changes of Marinette.
She used to be chatty and everything but now she doesn't talk as much as she used to.
She now normally focused on her work and there's barely any interaction between them.
He admits, in the past, when she talked excessively was quite annoying...
But he grew used to it and somehow grew to enjoy it.
Even if he wouldn't admit it out loud to her..
He hated her new change.
And he wanted to find out the root cause of it.
As days passed, the new her remained the same...
He had asked her multiple of times, yet she stuttered and didn't answer him.
Up until he almost left to go back to London...
A tragedy stroke...
She got into an accident.
She was badly injured and was hospitalized.
He stayed for her and delayed his trip back to London. Even went as far as delayed his work for her.
When she finally woke up...she was...sickly...very weak...
Her illness was quite bad and it rendered her to be weak and in a lot of pain.
Despite that, whenever he came, she was always smiling and trying her best to stay energetic and 'fine'.
He accompanied her and they often talked. She told him of her good memories and tales she knew of.
It was enjoyable for him and she loved to hear her voice and tales.
He grew to enjoy every moment with her.
When he thought things were going to be better.
Tragedy strike.
She died.
When he came to the hospital bringing a bouquet of flowers.
He was hit with the terrible news...
She had died.
His world stopped when the nurse informed of the three dreadful words.
He rushed towards her room and was met with her motionless body laid on the hospital bed.
Her eyes were closed and had this small smile on.
Her parents were crying beside her.
His world had shattered and dropped the bouquet for her.
He approached slowly.
He held her hand and it was cold. Unconsciously, tears dropped from his eyes onto her.
His heart was wretching and his throat felt stuck.
His heart....it hurts...so...so...much..
As he looked at her motionless body...
Days went by...
And her funeral came...
He watched as her coffin was being burried.
He was wearing black tuxedo and looking at her for the last time.
Under his black umbrella. It seems the weather was matching his feelings.
It was raining.
Just like that fateful day...
When he gave her his umbrella. It was quite a memory.
He gave a bitter laugh.
She never returned that umbrella back to him.
And it made his heart ached...a lot...
As he gave a bitter smile at the bittersweet memory of her.
So this is what losing a loved ones felt like..he mused...
It hurts...A...Lot...
Like part of his heart had been ripped out of his heart..
And made his heart felt hollow and empty...
When it ended, her parents offered him to look through her belongings and that he could keep some.
He didn't want to at first but her parents insisted..so he reluctantly agreed.
When he came, he finally got a chance to see her room. The room that she really loved. It was very...pink...he gave a bitter laugh.
As he looked around..
It was just like what she had told him. The tales of her's that she had told him rang in his hears. Her soft melodious voice whispered against his ear.
It felt as if she was beside him, re-telling him her tales.
It was full of her whisps.
But when he looked around the room, there was no her. She was gone.
As he went through her things while being haunted by the ghost of her.
He could imagine her doing a lot of things there, as she had told him in the hospital...
He accidentally found her diary...
She was hesitant to read it...
But eventually did.
It was quite bittersweet at the beginning, he could finally read her thoughts and understand her better. Her tales and truly her thoughts in detail.
As he finally reached to the end of the diary...He found a note tucked in between the pages.
It was addressed to him.
He opened and was crying as he read the letter.
It was beautifully made and very much bittersweet.
It was lovely and it pained him at the same time.
And up until almost the end...
He dropped her letter to the ground from shock..
'I am Ladybug'
He couldn't believe the three words etched onto the paper.
'I also loved you, you were my crush. I was utterly in love with you.'
He lost her. He lost both of his loved one at this tragic incident.
He couldn't save her and his partner. His idol and the person he loved the most.
It made his heart ached and wretch. It truly pained him as he cried his heart out as he read his signature.
She was truly gone.
That he couldn't see her forever...
Why did she die?!
She was getting better!
He was regretting everything. He was in denial and remorse. He truly missed her and it pained him. Now looking at her ghost, full of her traces left behind in her room.
Though she was nowhere to be found.
She was truly gone....forever...
And he missed her dearly..
Years passed...
He still missed her...
As he continued his life emotionlessly.
A gaping hole in his heart she took with her when she died.
He wrote a book about her..
And it was a hit.
The tale of her and him..
That was never told until now...
