SPILL

Summary:

Olive has another nightmare.
This place seems oddly chaotic yet peaceful.

Work Text:

Olive opens his eyes to a very colorful place.
It's.. so bright and colorful that it hurts his eyes a bit.
He sees an abundance of weird objects and buildings.
He is far away from the village.

He looks around and sees a few houses.
They're too small for him to enter, though.
He continues on.
There's no set path for him to follow, but he notices some pawprints and decides to track them.

It leads to a not-cat.
Minnie again.
Her fur a full void black, just like his old nightmare that took place in the village.

Seeing no other choice, he approaches her.
..And she speaks to him, sounding more disappointed than anything.

"..Lost in all this confusion lies the truth."
"A truth you've hidden away all this time."

She fades away, obviously relocating.

He looks around yet again.
There's not much here except for a bunch of buildings.
Couple of blankets and snacks.
Olive decides not to trust the snacks and just continues on, finding more tracks.
He can't properly follow them however, and end up finding a figure that looks like Nestor.

This one doesn't exactly shun him, but it won't open up and is just.. shaking.
They look wrong, too.
Olive feels uneasy.
He decides to try following the tracks again and sees Not-Minnie.

She takes a deep breath and then turns to look at him.
"You have to help them find the truth."
"For the both of us."

What does she mean by "them"?
Olive shakes his head.

Not-Minnie sighs and looks down.
"Follow me.."

Olive does so and Not-Minnie leads him around.
"Why won't you open up?"
"Speak to me."

Olive doesn't speak though.
Olive stays silent and just follows Not-Minnie.

"..Hm."
She seems annoyed.

"I can't help you, can I?"
"You may leave."

A door appears.
Instinctively, Olive opens it and tries to go through.
Not-Minnie stops him before he gets past the doorway.

"Help them find the truth."
"For the both of us."

She pushes him through and the door slams.
It's dark.
He doesn't like this.

...

..But instead of being grabbed and waking up, a spotlight appears, shining it's light on a small pond.
Olive goes over to it, seeing no other choice.
He looks down at the pond and sees a reflection of himself.
But this isn't his current appearance.
This is his past.
His body isn't scarred from battle.
Unlike Olive himself, his reflection smiles.

Not-Minnie appears behind him.
"You were happy."

She pushes him into the pond, and he closes his eyes.
He doesn't come back up, and instead ends up in a new area.
He opens his eyes to the Heart of the Woods.
It's awfully bright, and he can see himself running through with a cat that looks like him.
They both look.. happy.

Not-Minnie speaks to him again.
"You're carrying a terrible weight on your conscience."
"But you won't.. drop it."
"Just listen to my word, Olive."
"Drop your weight, for us."
"Help them find the truth."

They look at eachother.

"Close your eyes, Olive."
Olive shakes his head.

"Close your eyes."
"Trust me."

Olive thinks for a moment, and.. closes his eyes.

Not-Minnie counts down.
"5.. 4.. 3.. 2.."

"1."

Olive opens his eyes to see he's awake.
Down by his nap spot.
Olive takes some time to think about his dream, and gets up to go to his partners.
But he tries his best not to forget it.
