Space Pirates

Summary:

In some alternate universe where some random crossover happens cause I found it funny, Uraraka D. Ochako starts her journey as a pirate in the South Blue. Watch as an innocent dream of finding her adoptive sister and father snowball into an absolute clusterfuck down the line.

Notes:

Yeah, I'll update it as I read One Piece. Side by Side type of thing. Maybe every 70 chapters or so.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Prologue: A brief look at kid Ochako and her sister Bonney

Chapter Text

Prologue

“Kuma…” The dying man muttered to a rather large man cradling his daughter. The last of his race. A buccaneer. The dying man’s wife was already dead. To die like this was not how he expected to go, but at the very least his daughter will be safe with his friend, the king of the Sorbet Kingdom. “Take care of her, okay? Her name. It’s… It’s Ochako. Uraraka D. Ochako.”

The man died with a smile as Kuma closed his eyes to grieve for his friend. The big man then looked at the baby he was cradling. Only a year old. She was sleeping soundly in his arms, not even aware of what happened to her parents. “Uraraka D. Ochako. Yes, sounds about right.”

5 years later…

“MORE FOOD!” Bonney yelled at her father’s two friends. They were already bringing her tables worth, but she was eating faster than the chefs can cook.

“MORE MOCHI!” Ochako yelled alongside her sister. She doesn’t have the same level of appetite as Bonney, but her love for mochi was something to behold.

“BRAT! YOU TRYING TO OUTEAT ME?!” Bonney glared at Ochako, who glared back. The kid learned to have an attitude no thanks to her teenage older sister. Their dad had not come back from work, chasing down some pirate crew sighted near the shores. It was only a few years back when he became a warlord.

“STOP TAKING MY MOCHI!” Ochako said while shoving as many as she could into her mouth. The two were having another eating competition. Bonney always came out on top, but it didn’t stop her little sister from trying again. She didn’t want to admit that she enjoys doing this with her adopted sister.

“HA! Try and stop me!” Bonney gently pushed Ochako aside as she shoved even more mochi into her mouth alongside her pizza. “I’m still hungry!”

“Well… well…” Ochako pouted as she looked around for something more to eat. She was about to take a bite of a pizza when her dad finally came home.

“Daddy!”

“Papa!”

The two girls stopped eating as they ran to hug their father, who himself was carrying some sort of chest.

“Is that pirate treasure, papa!”

“I suspect it is.” The man smiled in response while patting Ochako’s head. “I hoped the two of you didn’t give my chef too much trouble.”

“It’s not even a worry, boss! A much needed challenge even.” The chef yelled from the kitchen. “Still, I think we might need to get to shore quickly ourselves! We’ve nearly out of food!”

“That won’t be a problem. Bonney, go and play with your sister outside. Be careful not to fall overboard, you can no longer swim after you accidentally ate that fruit after all.” Kuma reminded his older daughter, much to her embarrassment. The two went outside to feel the sea air. While Bonney was just sitting around, Ochako had her eyes closed, meditating.

“You have to be the most focused 6 year old I know.” Bonney said to her little sister while munching on an apple.

“I’m just remembering what Uncle Iva told me about.” She explained. Bonney huffed and threw the half eaten apple at her. To her shock, Ochako dodged it.

“Whoa. Is that what you remember?”

“You’re strong, big sis.” Ochako said.

“How long have you been training for that?” Bonney asked her little sister.

“When I was four, I think?”

“Sheesh. You got guts, sis.” Bonney picked up her thrown apple and was ready to eat it again.

BOOM

A cannonball just missed her and Ochako by an inch as it destroyed the mast behind them. The damage was enough to tip the mast over and start falling on them. “OCHAKO!”

Bonney quickly grabbed her little sister and moved away from the falling mast. Kuma and the rest of the crew were already outside the moment they heard the explosion. “Bonney, get Ochako inside now!”

“Be careful, daddy!” Bonney said as she ran past him. They were already below deck as the fighting began. Another day, another pirate battle. Some newbie pirates probably went ahead to challenge their father to a fight.

“Will everything be alright, sis?” Ochako asked Bonney while hugging her tightly. She was scared. Very, very scared.

“Daddy is strong. We’ve been through this before, but I guess this is scary.” Bonney didn’t lie to her. “Still, we’ll be fine. We’re daughters of a Warlord.”

Bonney sat her sister down on top of the chest their dad brought with him. It was already unlocked, but she didn’t bother opening it to see what’s inside. The two sisters could still hear the fighting above deck. They would have been relieved if they hadn't heard laughter nearby.

“Bererererere… sneaking past that old man was definitely a good idea.” The two sisters heard the voice that was definitely not one of their dad’s crewmates. Acting quickly, Bonney grabbed Ochako and hid her in the chest. “Oh, what do we have here? His daughter. I wonder how much your father would pay for your ransom.”

“Don’t even think about getting close!” Bonney warned him as she grabbed a knife. She also transformed herself into an older version of herself, thanks to her devil fruit.

“Oh, a devil fruit user. How convenient!” The pirate threw a dagger at her leg, causing Bonney to yelp in pain. She felt herself weaken and go back to her true age. “Seastone dagger. Handy against your type. Your father could have dodged that, but you’re not him.”

“Get away.” Bonney could feel her strength leaving her body. She was slightly relieved that Ochako was safe inside the chest. “Daddy…”

“He’s too busy fighting up there. Berererere…”

Ochako was scared. She could hear what was happening outside the chest. Her older sister was in danger. She can’t do anything. Her dad was busy fighting upstairs. She wanted to cry, but that would give away her hiding spot. She felt something rather soft inside the chest beside her. She doesn’t know what it is, but it does smell sweet. Ochako remembered Bonney describing how the fruit smelled sweet to her. “Maybe…

Ochako grabbed the fruit and took a bite. It did not taste good. She ate it all regardless. The young girl stood up, no longer hiding inside the chest. “GET AWAY FROM HER.”

She held out her hand. Nothing happened. The pirate simply laughed. “Or what, kiddo?” He grabbed Ochako by the neck.

“Ochako!” Bonney weakly yelled. She can’t move. She couldn’t do anything as the pirate grabbed her little sister by the neck. Ochako grabbed the man’s wrist, trying to get it off her. She was just a kid, and couldn’t shake him off.

“Go ahead, little girl. Cry. I bet your dad will pay plenty for both of-” Something hit him. “What the-” The plank was stuck to his body part. Ochako was stuck to him. Suddenly, everything close to them was being attracted to him. From the chest, the floorboards, and even the knives. Definitely the knives. He was relentlessly stabbed by whatever force is making the objects fly to him.

“GO AWAY!” Ochako screamed as whatever she did to the pirate reversed itself and propelled everything, causing a hole in the lower deck. The implications of the action was not important compared to the fact that the ship, Kuma’s ship, IS SINKING NOW. Sea water filled the room. Bonney could not move. A little bit of it is already on Ochako. Enough to greatly weaken her. The pirate who had her by the neck was dead from the stab wounds he received.

“SIS!” Ochako ran to her big sister. “You have to get up.”

“There’s no time, Ochako. You need to run upstairs.” Bonney told her little sister. She was not about to let her die. “Forget about me.”

“NO!” Ochako hugged her sister tighter. Bonney immediately noticed that the sea water was being repelled by something. Then she remembered the same thing that happened when the pirate that almost killed her got stabbed by knives and then ripped apart.

“Ochako,” Bonney held her tightly. “In that chest, was it a devil fruit? No, that’s stupid. It is. You ate it, didn’t you?!”

“I… I had to do something. I don’t want you to die!”

“You… you brat!” Bonney hugged her tighter. “Just… I’m sorry for putting this on you, but right now, you’re the only one that can save us with whatever you’re doing. Keep that sea water away from us. You’re doing good, sis.”

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t worry. We’ll be okay. Daddy will get us, won’t he? Just trust him, he will.” The ship sank with them still inside. Luckily, Bonney noticed a hole left. Considering how dry she is right now thanks to whatever Ochako did, she’s lucky enough to move. She removed her hat and let it out of the repelling area. She watched it float all the way up to the surface.

Meanwhile…

“Has anyone found any signs of them?” Kuma asked his crew members. They were on shore right now. Ochako and Bonney were at the bottom of the sea. Under his watch. HIS watch. He had done his best to keep his composure, but everyone on the crew knew he was taking it the hardest.

“Boss! Look! Bonney’s hat!” Chef Lunch Rush exclaimed as he looked through the binoculars. Kuma also saw it and used his cybernetics to zoom in. He removed his gloves. “Wait. Boss, you also can’t swim!”

“No, I have to save them.” He used his devil fruit’s power to send himself to the bottom of the sea, where the hat floated from. To his shock, he saw Bonney and Ochako safe and sound, in what looked like an air pocket preventing the sea water from touching them.

“Daddy!”

“Papa!”

They both yelled for him. Both were about to cry. He will not allow despair to win. He let himself sink to the bottom beside them.

“Bonney, Ochako, I’m glad you’re both safe.” He hugged them tightly. He noticed the air pocket moving as he moved Ochako. “Ochako, did you eat a devil fruit?”

“Y-Yes.”

“Whatever the case, hold on.” Kuma said as he once again used his devil fruit’s power to push them out of the water. The three of them landed safely on the shore as the crew rushed to them.

“BOSS!” The crew yelled in relief. Both Ochako and Bonney were shaking from the cold water. Kuma was slightly better, having only briefly been in the water.

“I’m sorry.” Ochako began to cry. “I’m sorry.”

Kuma knelt down to comfort his daughter. Bonney sat down. “It wasn’t your fault, sis. You saved me.”

“I… If I just knew what that devil fruit would do.” Ochako was still sobbing as Kuma held her gently in his arms. “Papa’s ship wouldn’t have sunk. I’m so sorry.”

“It’s okay, Ochako. What matters is that everyone is safe. That you and Bonney are safe.” Kuma reassured her. He smiled as he looked at the crew. “Besides, it’s about time we get ourselves a new ship. Something worthy of a warlord.”

4 years later…

“HEY! COME BACK HERE YOU TWO! YOU HAVEN’T PAID FOR THAT FOOD YET!” The restaurant owner shouted as the two sisters ran away from him. They ate all the food in his restaurant and refused to pay.

“Put it in our tabs!”

“Damn you!”

It had become problematic to the point where the two had minor bounties for it. Ochako for 150 berries and Bonney for 250 berries. Not a bad start. It wasn’t a big enough haul for anyone actually dangerous to go after them.

“Look boys, the Sisters of Gluttony!” Some guy said to his friends as the two encountered them in the alleyway. “Talk about some easy money! Heck, let’s even have fun wi-”

Before any of the gangsters tried anything, Bonney had already made her move. With a single touch, she had turned them all into powerless children.

“Gahahahahaha!” Bonney laughed at them.

“Pfft! Guhehehehehe!” Ochako laughed at how helpless they are. Bonney touched them again, and they’re now old men. Ochako touched one of them. “Gravity! Increase!”

The old man’s gravitational field increased, causing his gang members to fly towards him alongside other objects. Bonney laughed some more as they all turned back to normal.

“You’ll pay for this!”

“Aaaand! FLY HIGH! REVERSE!” Ochako reversed the man’s gravitational field, causing everything to fly away. Bonney and Ochako laughed once more before running away. They managed to reach the outskirts of the city. Everything hasn't been the same since their dad disappeared, but at least they had each other.

“That was fun,” Bonney said while lying on their bunk bed and eating pizza. Their house is rather small, but it’s the most they can get while pick-pocketing people.

“It is.” Ochako said while reading a book about stars. She picked up the hobby for a while. “Say, when are we gonna go and do actual pirating, sis?”

“When we get enough money. Besides, I’ll be doing the pirating.” Bonney said, much to Ochako’s annoyance. “No, I’m not about to take my sister on a dangerous voyage to the Grand Line just to find daddy!”

“Well… well…” Ochako tried to find a good reason, but couldn’t. She’s no slouch herself but Bonney always has been street smarter than her. She is a good navigator too. “WELL YOU CAN’T STOP ME! EVEN IF YOU LEAVE ME, I’LL FOLLOW YOU EVENTUALLY!”

“You…” Bonney gritted her teeth before punching the table. She knew Ochako was right. “Well, you’re not strong enough yet and you don’t even have a crew to speak of!”

“Just you wait! I’ll get a crew! And then… and then!” Ochako couldn’t stop sobbing. It’s just like their usual fights. She’s just stalling for time. Bonney leaves in a week. “I… I’LL MISS YOU!”

Ochako ran up to her sister to hug her. Bonney couldn’t hold it in as well. They were both crying. “Get strong and get a strong crew, Ochako! I’ll meet you in the Grand Line!”

5 years later…

“Guhehehehehe” Uraraka D. Ochako held her first map as she let her rowboat drift further and further from the shore.

“HEY! COME BACK HERE! THAT’S MY BOAT!” The man’s words fell on deaf ears. On her other hand, she held a newspaper. It had a story about some human spider hybrid living in a village on a nearby island.

“Now this one, I have to get in my crew.”
