"My name is Anne."

Summary:

"Whu- Anne, what do you mean?"

"I SAID DON'T CALL ME THAT! THAT ISN'T MY NAME!" Anne screamed, whipping around to face Marcy.

Notes:

I'm still not in the place to write my multi-chaps (sorry), but you all can have this angst filled one shot!

Work Text:

Marcy jumped out of her seat as she heard the door slam shut and Anne walk in.

"Anne? What's wrong?" Marcy lightly touched Anne’s shoulder, pulling away when her girlfriend flinched.

"Don't call me that." Anne’s voice was strained, like she was about to cry.

"Whu- Anne, what do you mean?"

"I SAID DON'T CALL ME THAT! THAT ISN'T MY NAME!" Anne screamed, whipping around to face Marcy.

Now that Marcy could get a good look, Anne was a mess. She was covered in bruises and had a nasty cut on the side of her head.

"A-Anne, you're hurt." Marcy moved to touch Anne again, but changed her mind after seeing the brunette's expression.

"That isn’t my name! Stop it Marcy!" Anne pulled at her hair, trying to push past the Asian girl and run off to who knows where.

Marcy was doing her best to stop Anne from running, but the Thai girl was always the stronger one between the two of them.

"Then what is your name?" Marcy tried to stay calm, but seeing Anne in such distress was hurting her.

Anne turned her head, facing the ground. "My name is Andrew."

That sentence sent a dagger straight into Marcy's heart. Her limbs went weak and Anne shoved past Marcy to run for the bathroom.

Marcy slapped herself, "Get a grip, Marcy! Anne needs help!" Turning on her heel, Marcy chased after Anne, shoving her foot between the bathroom door and the frame before Anne could lock her out.

Anne didn't even seem to notice, too caught up in her own panic to notice. Marcy could hear Anne's muttering, and it made her want to cry.

"-was never a girl. Stupid, stupid, stupid! I-I was always a boy, pretending I could ever be more was s-stupid…"

Marcy opened the door and watched as Anne took all of her estrogen and chucked it into the trash with a shriek.

"STUPID! SO STUPID!"

Anne grabbed a pair of scissors from the cabinet and held them to her puffy hair. "B-boys don't have long hair, they have it s-short…"

Before she could make the first snip, Marcy snapped out of her shock and moved forward. With the skills she picked up in Amphibia, Marcy grabbed Anne’s hand and spun it around before grabbing the scissors. Marcy set them on the countertop, watching Anne carefully.

"Anne…"

"Andrew." Anne's voice was squeaky and miserable. Frog, she looked so small like this. "My name was supposed to be Andrew. I-I was just pretending to be a girl. Like an-"

"If you say idiot, or stupid, or anything else like that, I swear I will call every single one of our friends and they will come here right now and bury you in hugs. Anne, look at me." Marcy's voice was so commanding and intense that Anne was forced to react. "You are a girl. Just because you have the… other genitals… doesn't make you a boy. You were never a boy. What made you think you were Andrew?"

Anne hiccupped, tears soaking her cheeks. "Th-there was a tour at the museum, some big guys from out of state. Everything seemed to be going so well, and then one of them asked me to show them where the-the restroom was… I led them to the men's room and they… they dragged me inside."

Anne rubbed her hand along the cut on her head. "They reminded me that I've just been pretending this whole time. That I was just a disgusting slu-"

Marcy clapped her hand over Anne's mouth, cutting off that last word. "What were their names?" The words were spoken as a question, but Anne could tell it was more of an order.

"I-I-I dunno!" Anne stammered, wringing their hands.

"Yes you do. Those bastards attacked you, I'm not letting that slide. Neither will Sasha."

Anne let out a soft gasp. "Please, Marce. Don't get Sasha involved."

"Too late," Said a voice from behind them both. "I already heard."

Sasha stood behind them, bags of groceries in her hands. "Anne, what were their names? I'm ready to kill a bastard."

Anne shuddered. "Please stop. My name is An-Andrew."

Marcy and Sasha made eye contact, nodding as they mutually understood what to do. They'd beat the shit out of those wastes of space later, for now, they had to help Anne.

Marcy cleaned Anne's cut and wrapped it with bandages, before she led Anne out of the room and to their shared bed, while Sasha took Anne’s meds out of the trash and carefully cleaned them off.

When Sasha came into the room, Marcy and Anne were cuddling with each other, Marcy whispering reassurances into Anne's ears, squeezing her tightly as Anne’s body wracked with sobs.

Sasha climbed into bed, sandwiching Anne between her two girlfriends. "Anne, you are a girl, not half-a-girl, not a fake girl, especially not a boy. You are a girl, and you are our girl."

"Stop lying to me…" Anne moaned, voice muffled by her pillow.

Marcy made miniature shushing sounds, "We aren't lying, and we will keep telling you that all night long if we have to."

So they did. Until well in the morning and all three of them had fallen asleep from exhaustion, Sasha and Marcy cared for their beloved girlfriend, promising protection and forcing Anne to understand the truth.

---

When Marcy woke up, it was to the sound of a sizzling frying pan on the stove top.

Turning to check, Marcy saw that Sasha was still in bed, but Anne wasn't.

"Hey, Sash, Anne’s cooking breakfast, wake up."

Sasha got up with a grumble, muttering how "Only you two could get me to wake up this early without a fist to the face…"

Stepping into the kitchen, Marcy saw Anne frying eggs on the stove, a tired smile on her face. There were still tear stains from last night, but Anne looked like she was doing a lot better.

"Hey, love? How are you?" Sasha said. The unspoken, 'What should we call you?' hung in the air, not lost on anyone.

Anne turned to face them, and the words she said made Sasha and Marcy's hearts swell.

"My name is Anne."

Notes:

Sorry that I haven't been posting recently, I haven't been in the mental state for writing the stuff I normally put on here. I was able to do this oneshot, but if I tried to write something with multiple chapters, it wouldn't go well. Hope you all are still doing well.
