Summary:

"Welcome, Siamese twins!" Scotty greeted them with a broad smile and a bow.

"It's not funny, Scotty! Get us out of these, we've been stuck like this for hours," Leonard, with a painful wrist and in a foul mood, said. He felt uncomfortable and tired.

"You look like a well-matched pair," Scotty remarked.

"We look like a damn mismatch," Leonard grumbled. "I'm a doctor, not a matchmaker."

"Affirmative," Spock replied, raising an eyebrow.

Notes:

This fic has appeared among my saved stuff. And I said to myself... why don't I publish it? Said and done. I hope you like it!
A bit of mischief from Jim, a somewhat damaged doctor and Spock...being Spock. Of course, since it's one of my fetishes, the three of them end up in a bed together.

Work Text:

At last, after escaping the clutches of the cruel and highly evolved inhabitants of planet Robi V, they had managed to teleport aboard their ship. For hours, an unpredictable ion storm had severed transporter and communication links.

There was just one minor snag. Spock and McCoy were shackled together by an alien technology device. The right hand of each was bound to the other's right hand. The artifact was pearlescent and gleaming, intricately carved into hexagonal facets. Beautiful, yet dangerous.

Jim was nursing a severe headache. He had been forced to order his comrades to stop their bickering. Being in a cell, with a grouchy doctor and a tense Vulcan, both handcuffed by the wrists, was far from the best experience he had lately.

"Damn it, Spock, we need to synchronize our movements to walk!" Leonard grumbled.

"You are the one out of sync," Spock retorted. He yanked his wrist, nearly toppling the doctor.

Leonard fell to his knees, shooting an indignant and pained glance at the Vulcan.

"I apologize, Doctor, I did not intend for you to end up on the floor." Spock's face remained neutral as he extended a hand to help him up.

"I see how much you're enjoying this situation! You're stronger than me and can drag me wherever you want!"

"I am enjoying this uncomfortable situation as much as your numerous emotional outbursts," Spock stiffened. "You are more irate than usual."

Leonard snorted. Irate? He was controlling himself as best as he could. He was trying to respect the Vulcan's personal space to avoid annoyance. This didn't make him comfortable. He had always cherished freedom above all else. Now, he was deprived of his autonomy, tethered to a presumptuous green elf. He was also restraining himself from kicking Spock in the rear. None of this made walking together easy.

"Alright, gentlemen, you need to head to engineering and have those cuffs removed. There must be a way to free you from this torment," Jim said, trying not to smile but failing. They looked like a pair of kindergarten kids fighting over a toy.

"Let's start, Doctor. We move left foot first, then right. Until we are separated, we must coordinate our steps. On the count of three, we begin walking. One, two... three."

McCoy's glare could have incinerated the Vulcan.

Arriving at engineering, they encountered crew members who gazed at them in astonishment.

Entering the room, Scotty blinked. He had seen odd things on the ship since the mission began, but this was a novelty. Spock, tall and composed, maintained his poise. Leonard was biting his lip, his eyes blazing with fury.

"Welcome, Siamese twins!" Scotty greeted them with a broad smile and a bow.

"It's not funny, Scotty! Get us out of these, we've been stuck like this for hours!" Leonard, with a painful wrist and in a foul mood, said. He felt uncomfortable and tired.

"You look like a well-matched pair!" Scotty remarked.

"We look like a damn mismatch!" Leonard grumbled. "I'm a doctor, not a matchmaker!"

"Affirmative," Spock replied, raising an eyebrow.

Scotty began analyzing the device that bound them, using scanners, computers, and every available gadget. Meanwhile, Spock observed in silence, his brilliant mind pondering possible solutions.

"It's made of a completely unknown material. Unbreakable, harder than any known mineral. Additionally, the lock's programming is exceptionally complex. The source code is written in an unprecedented programming language. I need to decipher the algorithm and implement it in a compatible and correct language," Scott informed them.

"In other words, we're screwed!" Leonard rolled his eyes, agitating his wrist in frustration. "Damned sadistic aliens! They couldn't think of anything better than to chain us."

"There's always the option of cutting off our wrists to separate us," Spock suggested.

"I hope you're joking!" Leonard raised an eyebrow.

"A Vulcan does not joke," Spock thought inwardly, mocking McCoy. "At least, Doctor, we escaped alive. I'm not entirely sure what their intentions were, but they seemed to enjoy psychological games. In any case, Mr. Scott, we'll await your findings, and I offer all my assistance in resolving this matter."

Leonard's mood remained somber. They had wandered the ship, enduring smirks and nudges from the crew. They spent a long time in sickbay, but to no avail. Nothing seemed capable of unlocking the alien shackles' secrets.

Spock and Leonard had gathered some Vulcan tools from the First Officer's quarters. He tried to manipulate the lock. The device responded by emitting a strong electric shock.

"For heaven's sake, Spock! Don't touch anything!" the doctor winced in pain. "My brain's fried. You're not a locksmith!"

"Fascinating," the Vulcan said. "The shackles have a self-protection system against tampering."

"I'd appreciate it if you didn't zap us with your experimentation," Leonard replied, massaging his wrist.

"There is no logical reason to engage in self-pity," Spock stated.

"I'm not!" Leonard countered, feeling humiliated.

"In any case, we must persevere," Spock said, his tone firm.

Leonard gave him a hard look. The doctor seemed to be pondering something.

"I'm more worried about what Jim will say when he sees us like this. It's already bad enough, and now..., At the moment, we have not found the solution to this." Leonard paused, looking at Spock. "I can't even imagine his reaction!"

"I suggest we refrain from speculation until the situation presents itself," Spock replied. "Indeed. The captain is an optimistic man by nature and does not believe in invincible scenarios. I am sure he will be confident that this incident will be resolved favorably. Therefore, I suggest that you do not worry about his emotional well-being. That is the logical course of action."

Christine Chapel's gaze fell upon Leonard's wrist, a fleeting recognition igniting in her eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but the stern look from McCoy sealed her words within. "I'm preparing a cocktail of medications," he declared with quiet authority. "I'll inject it at the precise moment needed." Christine's eyes flashed with annoyance at Leonard, who met her gaze unwaveringly. In those few, tense moments, a heavy silence enveloped them.

Meanwhile, Jim Kirk had been in contact with Scotty and, understanding the gravity of the situation, summoned his two closest friends to his quarters immediately. The urgency in his voice left no room for delay.

Upon reaching Jim's quarters, a comic mishap ensued as Leonard and Spock, entwined in their unfortunate predicament, attempted to enter through the doorway simultaneously, only to find themselves stuck. It was Spock who let out a rare groan of frustration, nudging Leonard slightly to make way.

Inside, Jim awaited them with a mixture of concern and barely-concealed amusement. "Patience, my dear friends. Scotty and his team are doing their best. But for now, you're both off duty for obvious reasons. You're in no condition to work," he said, his voice a blend of sternness and care.

Seated on Jim's sofa, Leonard allowed himself a moment of relaxation, while Spock, ever the Vulcan, tapped his fingers impatiently. "Gentlemen, we face a logistical challenge," Spock began, his voice betraying a hint of irritation. "Given our current... attachment, we must consider our sleeping arrangements for the night."

Leonard turned towards Spock, a weary sigh escaping his lips. "I just hope you don't snore, Spock."

"That is a distinctly human problem," Spock replied coolly.

Jim interjected with a mischievous glint in his eye. "You'll need a big bed. Mine's the largest and most comfortable in the entire ship."

Leonard was quick to protest. "Jim, we can sleep on the floor. We can't impose on you like this!"

Jim, however, was adamant. "Don't be foolish! You'll both be sore in the morning. Besides, you were the ones who allowed the aliens to shackle you together to protect me. It's my turn to look after you!"

The conversation continued with a blend of humor and genuine concern. Jim, playing the role of a benevolent but mischievous host, was determined to have his friends share his bed. Leonard and Spock, each for their own reasons, reluctantly agreed.

The challenge of disrobing while still bound together presented a comical yet intimate dilemma. Jim pulled a scissors out of a drawer.  There seemed to be no better way for both men to get rid of the top of their clothes.

James Kirk, ever the captain, took charge with scissors in hand, carefully cutting through Spock's shirt. He couldn't help but notice the smoothness of Spock's skin, the firmness of his muscles – an unexpectedly sensual experience.

Next was Leonard's turn. Spock, ever the gentleman, apologized in advance for any discomfort he might cause. The atmosphere was charged with a mix of awkwardness and deep-rooted camaraderie as they navigated this uniquely intimate hurdle.

He generally avoided touch, being a tactile telepath, and in his culture, physical contact was taboo. Leonard shuddered. Spock's fingers were warm and he felt a pleasant, suggestive thrill. His long, elegant fingers worked carefully. The scissors slid over Leonard's body. McCoy felt the delicate touches of the Vulcan's fingers. A shiver ran down his spine. This was the most intimate contact, aside from the Vulcan's stays on Sickbay when he was injured or during the physical examinations he had had with Spock since they had met.

Jim stood up and helped him remove his pants. He noticed how Bones's crotch had bulged. The two friends looked at each other for a moment, and the doctor's cheeks turned crimson. "Don't you dare say a word, Jim!" Leonard thought. "Not in jest, or in seriousness, or I'll strangle you!"

Finally prepared for bed, the three friends faced the night ahead with a mix of resignation and unspoken thoughts. It was a night that promised little sleep, filled with the complexities of friendship, duty, and the unspoken bonds that held them together.

Spock moved his wrist, and Leonard groaned. He felt unpleasant pricks that reached his brain. "I'm sorry, doctor, I didn't mean to hurt you," the Vulcan said.

McCoy decided to confess what was wrong. "I think I have a sprain or a fracture in my wrist. But with these damn shackles, I couldn't check. None of the medical scanners can penetrate it," Leonard said. "I think I struggled too hard when those bastards put them on us."

"Why didn't you say anything, Bones?" Jim's voice sounded angry. He crossed his arms and stared intently at his friend. "You're always putting others' well-being before your own."

"As I said, nothing could be done. I just medicated myself!" Leonard looked down.

"Is that why you've been so irritable, doctor?" Spock asked.

"Let's just say that's my normal state, but yes, the pain has made it worse," Leonard was used to taking care of others without complaining.

"I've already injected myself with painkillers and anti-inflammatories in the Sickbay. I have another dose ready for later," he stammered, trying to keep his composure.

Jim watched his two companions. Something had changed. The enforced physical closeness had calmed Bones, and Spock seemed unusually affectionate. A pang of jealousy began to creep into his mind. Leonard had been his best friend for years, and Spock had become someone close and utterly essential in his life. As they chatted, Jim noticed the semi-naked bodies of his friends.

He had seen Bones naked many times. But his duties as captain always kept his desire separate from their friendship. For once, he allowed himself to look without embarrassment.

He decided to strip down to his underwear. He fantasized that Spock and Bones were tied up in his room and couldn't move. He began to feel aroused. "Damn, they'll notice," he thought. Spock glanced at Jim, seeing the bulge in his underwear. Jim crossed his legs, trying to hide it. The conversation continued, a mix of technical topics and jokes, which, as always, Spock didn't get.

They used the replicator for dinner. As a good host and friend, Jim made sure his companions were comfortable and could eat. A couple of glasses of special occasion Bourbon lightened the mood, especially for Leonard. At last, he smiled openly.

Spock was being very careful, trying not to hurt the doctor's injured wrist. Leonard was very grateful for his consideration.

"You can be kind, Spock! I think you have a heart after all," he said in a friendly tone.

"I admit it's unusual to be this close, looking into your eyes when neither of us is discussing," the Vulcan replied.

Jim got up and placed his hand on McCoy's shoulder, giving him a gentle caress. "Would you like some dessert, Bones?" His eyes were bright and sleepy.

Leonard gave him a sweet smile. "How about chocolate cake?" The doctor had always loved Jim Kirk but never thought anything would come of it. Their friendship was paramount. He was his captain. For some months now, the feelings had been deepening and becoming harder to hide. Thankfully, the table hid the arousal he was feeling. He mentally urged it to calm down.

McCoy shook his head slightly and closed his eyes. Jim served him a slice of chocolate cake. But not before casually touching his bare shoulder again. He looked at Leonard intensely.

Spock was analyzing the situation. It was clear that the attraction and subtle seduction attempts were coming from all three directions. Human sexuality was very easy to read.

The Vulcan had managed to master his own excitement, like a conductor orchestrating a symphony of contained emotions. A verbal exchange of intentions seemed the logical path toward a satisfying union between them. Each word, a delicate move in a dance of possibilities, where a misstep could unleash chaos.

“Jim Kirk, you're an enigma wrapped in a mystery!” Leonard thought, watching the captain who maintained an apparent calm, hiding a sea of emotions behind a playful and slightly intrigued gaze.

Jim, for his part, struggled to maintain a professional demeanor, while inside he burned with the intensity of a volcano on the brink of eruption.

“Doctor, I believe you are experiencing an increase in body temperature,” Spock said with his usual impassive expression.

“What do you mean, Spock?” Leonard stammered, blushing, overwhelmed by the possibility that his agitation was so evident.

Spock paused briefly, subtly enjoying McCoy's discomfiture. “I mean that you might be developing a fever. Our physical proximity allows me to sense certain emotions and physiological reactions. It would be prudent for you to administer an antipyretic. I suggest we prepare to rest.”

“Of course, Doctor Spock!” Leonard replied with poorly disguised irony, wondering what emotions the Vulcan was sensing and preferring not to delve further into the matter.

Jim, biting his lip, observed the scene. Bones seemed so distracted that he was unaware of his own state, a mix of bewilderment and desire, like a teenager on his first date.

Carefully, Spock and Leonard settled into Jim's wide bed. A soft moan escaped from Leonard's lips.

“May I administer the medication, Leonard?” Spock asked, surprising McCoy with the use of his first name. Since when did Spock assume the role of caregiver?

Between Jim and Spock, they assisted Leonard in receiving the hypospray. A sigh of relief escaped the doctor's lips as he felt the contact of his bare skin against Spock's, a strange and inexplicably exciting sensation. The Vulcan's skin emitted a musky scent, alluring and exotic.

“Jim, I believe there's enough room in this bed for the three of us, don't you think?” Spock suggested with a look charged with unusual playfulness. He gestured with his hand, inviting Kirk to leave his sofa and join them in bed.

Jim rose with feline languor and slid next to Spock. The need to be there, in that bed, was overwhelming. He let his jealousy softly fade into the night.

He turned, resting his head on Spock's chest, and whispered, “Does this bother you, Spock?”

“Not at all, Jim,” Spock replied, wrapping his arm around Kirk's shoulders.

After a moment of shared silence, Spock's hand discreetly explored Jim's groin, finding warmth and firmness. Jim trembled under Spock's slow and thoughtful caress, a moan of desire escaping his lips.

Spock, gently, caressed Jim, whose breathing became increasingly irregular. The desire grew between them, a promise of what was to come.

After an exchange of caresses and kisses, they fell into a deep sleep, intertwined in an intimate and comforting embrace.

Hours later, Spock woke Jim. Leonard was restless, the fever had returned. “He needs medication,” Spock murmured in Jim's ear. “I regret not being able to help more in this state.”

Leonard, caught in a nightmare, struggled with visions of blood and terror. Jim and Spock injured, himself unable to help, their screams echoing in his mind. Finally, he woke up gasping, finding comfort in the presence of his friends.

The CMO was rudely awakened. “Damn alien artifact!” Leonard murmured, frustrated by his own immobility. Carefully, Jim injected the hypospray into Bones' neck, who lay sweating profusely.

“Take it easy, Bones!” Jim said, as he refreshed his friend's body with damp towels. The act of caring for Leonard was both sweet and deeply moving.

Jim sighed, “Bones, if you don't improve, we'll take you to the Sickbay. No arguments!”

Spock lifted an eyebrow, exchanging a look with Jim.

Bones rolled his eyes. “Fine!” he said reluctantly.

He looked at his friend with a mix of tenderness and desire. "Bones, I will always take care of you."

“And I suggest an in-depth dialogue as soon as possible,” Spock interjected, with his customary calm. He brought two fingers to Leonard's lips, in a tender gesture laden with meaning, which Leonard returned with a soft kiss.

Jim looked at Spock, nodding gravely. “I agree."

Spock continued talking: "There's a conversation pending between us. It would be illogical to limit our association to two, when there's a third who shares our mutual interest.”

James Kirk leaned towards Leonard, his index finger tracing a burning path across his chest. His hand descended slowly, with reverent delicacy, toward Leonard's groin, cradling it as if it were his most treasured possession.

“Oh, Jim, do you want to raise my fever even more? You’re going to kill me!” Leonard whispered, half in jest, half in earnest. His voice was a tremulous whisper. “Take me to the Sickbay!” he exclaimed, between anxiety and excitement.

“It’s alright, we'll wait!” Jim conceded, depositing a fleeting kiss on McCoy's ear.

Leonard looked at him, letting out a short, incredulous laugh, a spark of disbelief and humor dancing in his eyes. The nightmare had dissolved, but the warmth of an unexpected and deeply human reality now enveloped him.

A beep  from the communicator sounded, and an incoming call from Scotty confirmed that he knew how to open the alien device that was keeping them chained.

Everyone was relieved and hopeful about the good news. That night, their commitment to each other, their union in a loving relationship, beyond the stars and the friendship they once had, had begun to take shape. It would be forever.
