Work Text:

The Commander felt a sense of contentment as he gazed at his organized office. Everything was in its proper place, just the way he liked it. The meticulously arranged files and neatly set out items for the next day gave him a sense of control and efficiency, ensuring that he could work seamlessly.

As he prepared for the evening, he couldn't help but smile at the thought of the invitation he'd received. The Sakura Shrine event, featuring Yamashiro and Fusou's Kaguya dance, was a significant occasion. He understood the importance of this day, not just as a performance but as Yamashiro's birthday celebration. Fusou had thoughtfully conveyed all the relevant details to him, emphasizing the significance of the event for her younger sister.

The Commander's smile reflected his appreciation for the effort and thoughtfulness of the shipgirls under his command. He was not only a leader but also someone who was trusted and cared for by his fleet. With everything in order in his office, he was ready for the busy night ahead, eagerly looking forward to the performance and celebrating Yamashiro's special day.

The Commander's journey to the shrine was filled with anticipation. The steps leading to the beautiful traditional shrine were meticulously maintained, a testament to the care and devotion of the people who visited. As the Commander ascended the stone stairs, he encountered several other ships, including Megumi and Shigure. They were likely on their way to the shrine to witness Yamashiro's special performance that night.

The Commander couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and warmth in his heart as he thought about Yamashiro. Her sweet and caring nature had endeared her to him, and her upcoming performance was something he was genuinely looking forward to. She held a special place in his heart, and he was eager to support her and share in the moment of her dance at the shrine.

As he got to the top of the stairs he smiled as he looked at Fusou, “Hello Fusou, it is good to see you today, I am really looking forward to seeing your sister’s performance. I hope you are doing well.”

Fusou returned the smile and replied, "Hello, Commander. I'm doing well, thank you for asking. I'm glad you're looking forward to Yamashiro's performance. She's been working so hard to prepare for this, and I know she'll do her best to make it special."

Fusou's words were filled with pride and affection for her sister. She appreciated the Commander's support and the special bond he shared with Yamashiro. The three of them were about to have a memorable evening at the shrine, celebrating Yamashiro's dance and enjoying each other's company.

Following Fusou, the Commander found his way to the spot where he would watch Yamashiro's performance. He knew that this was a significant moment for her and was looking forward to the dance. As he sat down, he kept the special gift he had prepared for Yamashiro, ready to present it once her performance was over. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation, and he couldn't wait to see what Yamashiro had in store for this special evening.

As the performance began, the Commander sat down in his comfortable seat, watching with anticipation. When Yamashiro made her entrance and their eyes met, he couldn't help but smile at her, offering her encouragement and support. He understood that she might be nervous, dancing in front of him, and he wanted to let her know that he was there to appreciate her efforts and talent. Yamashiro's performance was a special moment, and he was eager to see her dance.

Yamashiro's performance continued with grace and elegance. She moved with a combination of fluidity and precision, her traditional shrine maiden attire enhancing the beauty of her dance. The atmosphere around the shrine became tranquil as she swayed to the rhythm of the music, telling a story through her movements. Her dedication and hard work were evident in every step she took.

As she gracefully twirled and gestured, the bells on her attire jingled softly, adding to the enchanting ambiance. The Commander watched in awe, appreciating the effort and care she had put into her dance. It was a mesmerizing display of culture and tradition, and he was proud of Yamashiro for sharing this special moment with him and the others in attendance.

The dance reached its climax with a series of intricate steps, and then, with a final, elegant pose, Yamashiro completed her performance. The shrine was filled with applause and admiration for her talent and dedication. Yamashiro, slightly out of breath but with a radiant smile, looked toward the Commander. It was evident that she was grateful for his presence and support during her performance.

The commander stood smiling and clapping as he looked at Yamashiro who was beside herself with happiness, she stepped forward, when her natural clumsiness would as she fell forward. One might see this as bad luck as she had tripped up, but one might see this as good luck in a way too. For as she fell, her beloved commander caught her in his arms, holding her in a protective embrace.

“I gotcha,” The commander said softly, “You did good, really good Yamashiro,” he said softly to her as he continued to hold her, before he held her back to her feet.

Yamashiro blushed, her cheeks turning a shade of pink as she looked up at the Commander, her heart pounding in her chest. She felt a mixture of embarrassment for her clumsiness and gratitude for his quick reflexes and support. Her eyes met his, and she smiled shyly, her voice soft.

"Thank you, Milord," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I'm glad you were here to catch me. Your presence gave me the strength to perform my best."

She straightened her shrine maiden attire, still feeling a bit flustered but also happy. The other shipgirls around them teased her playfully, causing her cheeks to turn an even deeper shade of pink. Despite the stumble, the Commander's reassuring words and his gentle hold made her feel cherished and valued.

"Um, Milord, there's something I wanted to give you," she said, reaching into the folds of her attire. She pulled out a small, intricately decorated charm. "It's for good luck. I made it myself, hoping it would bring you fortune and happiness."

She handed him the charm with a shy smile, her eyes reflecting her sincerity. The Commander accepted it, touched by her gesture. He knew that this moment, with Yamashiro in his arms, was something he would cherish. Her clumsiness had led to a heartwarming connection, and he felt a deep affection for the sweet and genuine young woman in front of him.

“Now, you're not the only one who has a gift, after all it is your birthday, Yamashiro, dear,” The commander said as he took the charm and put it on. His hand then slipped into his pocket, he held up a beautiful necklace that he had in the box, and removed before slipping it around her neck, “For luck right,” he said as he leaned in and kissed Yamashiro a moment later, his lips gentle against hers. The kiss was soft and tender, filled with the warmth of affection and admiration. Yamashiro's eyes widened in surprise at first, then softened as she closed them, savoring the moment. Her heart fluttered, and she wrapped her arms around the Commander, returning the kiss with equal tenderness.

When they finally broke the kiss, she looked up at him, her eyes shining with happiness and gratitude. "Thank you, Milord," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "This is the best birthday gift I could have ever asked for."

The shipgirls around them cheered and clapped, teasing the couple playfully. Yamashiro blushed deeply, feeling a mix of embarrassment and joy. Despite the teasing, she felt an overwhelming sense of contentment being in the Commander's arms, her heart brimming with affection for him.

As they stood there, hand in hand, surrounded by the beauty of the shrine and the support of their friends, Yamashiro knew that this moment would be etched in her memory forever. She felt truly blessed to have someone as caring and loving as the Commander by her side. And in that moment, she knew that their bond was something special, something worth treasuring always.
