Chapter Text
"Attention students," a voice over the intercom, a voice the students of Auradon Prep knew to be Fairy Godmother, interrupted shrilly, "As you all know, our soon-to-be King Ben has made his first true royal decree. He states that four children from the Isle of the Lost will be staying here in Auradon. I know this may come as a shock to many of you, but not to worry. These children will not be arriving for another few weeks. Now, you may all return to your studies."
Eliana just shrugged and didn't think much of the announcement, but as she looked around, many of her classmates were looking more concerned by the second. She could practically feel the tension rising before suddenly, there was an explosion of noise. Students screaming, crying, and even some swearing, which was rather uncommon to hear at Auradon Prep. People were going crazy; leaving the poor instructor to attempt to quiet down the class. If she was being completely honest, she was glad she wasn't in chemistry with Mr. Maurice. THAT would have been dangerous.
There was a crash, and suddenly everyone got quiet. "Listen up! I should not have to throw something to get you all to listen, we're not villains here. Now, those children from the isle may be coming, but I'm certain our soon-to-be king is sensible. None of these children will be those of any major villains. We need to show them how to behave, and they will fall in line. Behavior like this is only going to encourage them."
"Attention students," Fairy Godmother's voice filled the room from the speakers again, " The students attending have been confirmed as the children of-" a surprised cough erupted from the woman, as she seemed to reading this for the first time, "Cruella DeVil, Jafar, The Evil Queen, and, oh dear God- Maleficent.." There was a pause, and then, "Please remember that our soon-to-be king is fair, and please don't attack him in the hallways." She was at first concerned, then pleading, but her requests fell on deaf ears as shouts rang up again. This time the teacher didn't even bother to stop it. Rather, he appeared resigned and was sitting in silent acceptance, knowing he would never be able to regain control.
After a few minutes, the bell rang, interrupting the chaos and stopping it momentarily. This peace, however, was short-lived, as the students all piled out into the hallway. Ellie was squished against a doorframe, trying to escape while frantically searching around for anyone she knew, or a way out. She eventually shoved her way through, but as she reached the end, she nearly knocked out her boyfriend, James. He raised his fist, as if he was ready to punch the girl. She instinctively flinched, preparing for the hit, but James stopped himself before any damage could be done.
"Jamie?" Ellie asked after a few seconds of silence. "What's going on? Why is everyone so upset about this?"
"Ells, they're letting the children of VILLAINS into Auradon. Why aren't you upset about it?" James responded, irritation evident in his voice.
"I dunno, just because their parents are bad, doesn't mean they're bad too.." She tried to explain, pulling at the edges of her sweater absent-mindedly, "Maybe they're good."
"Ells, they're villains. They CAN'T be good. That's just how it works."
"Yeah, I guess that's a good point..."
