Work Text:
If someone were to have asked Phayu if he wanted to get married just a year prior, he would have very firmly stated no. He had his fair share of relationships, situationships, and one night stands. But none of them ever really clicked for him in the way he had hoped. Most of his past partners thought he was either too intense, too controlling, or wanted something casual. With how all-consuming Phayu's nature was, he thought he would never find someone that perfectly matched him and would want him despite his flaws and failings. It was often that his previous partners had perceived him as someone perfect that could do no wrong until he did wrong in their eyes and suddenly their illusion was broken and he was too much for them.
If someone were to ask Phayu now if he wanted to get married, he would tell you that he's been glancing through wedding ring options for the last couple of months in secret when his boyfriend was asleep. Phayu couldn't handle the joy and contentment that filled him when Rain curled up against his chest. It was a constant reminder that the love of his life, his other half, truly loved him and wanted to be with him.
Rain came into his life during a typhoon and washed over him like a rainy summer day. The warmth that filled him when they first met and Rain called him handsome had his heart fluttering in his chest despite his nonchalant external demeanor. As each interaction with his boyfriend became more frequent, he was relieved that Rain became so quickly disillusioned with this godly image of him that the seniors from their codeline had built. It allowed for Rain to see him for who he really was. A man who had to have control. A man with an intense need to tease the one he likes. A man who is incredibly protective and prideful. A man who is imperfect despite all the tales of his supposed perfection spung by those around him.
Phayu fell and he fell hard. Rain's presence increased in intensity with the challenge of making Phayu fall in love with him in 30 days. Though the challenge was unnecessary as Phayu had fallen already, seeing Rain's persistence in pursuing him made Phayu feel wanted in a way he hadn't felt before. But it was truly when Rain told that Phayu's teasing wouldn't push him away that Phayu began to realize just how much Rain was meant for him.
Even now as Phayu looked at his boyfriend's slumbering face, cheek squished against his chest, he felt a smile cross his features. "I love you so much, darling." He whispered into the quiet air of their bedroom. "One day... I'm going to make sure you have a ring on your hand and ask you to be mine for as long as we shall live." Phayu closes his eyes as he pulled the brunette closer, pressing a kiss on his forehead. Some day soon... I'll marry you.
