Chapter Text
It was a normal day in Ninjago City. Tweek, Jimmy, Clyde, and Tolkien were hanging out at Craig's house, talking about the serpentine that was released by someone.
"Yeah, when I was at the Mega Monster Amusement Park, I saw some of the serpentine! But, then the ninja came, and then there was Samurai X! But, we had to leave because of, well, the serpentine." Tolkien had recapped on what they witnessed at the Amusement Park.
"I still w-want to kn-know on who rel-released the ser-ser-serpentine." Jimmy states, which causes everyone to pause for a second.
"Why would they release the serpentine?!? Th-They're dangerous! The serpentine war, what if it happens again?!?" Tweek freaked out even at the thought of another serpentine war happening. Craig walked up to Tweek, and held his hand.
"Calm down, Tweek, we're sure that the serpentine war won't start again."
"How do we know it WON'T start again, Craig?!?" Tweek freaked out even more. Craig grabs Tweek's hand, and pulled him into a hug, which helped calm him down a bit.
"We have the ninja and Samurai X, they will be able to stop the serpentine."
Tolkien got off Craig's bed to look out the window. "There's no serpentine in sight, maybe we could attend the 'Take Back Ninjago' rally."
"The 'Take Back Ninjago' rally? " Clyde questioned. "What's that? "
Tolkien answered. "It's to raise awareness about the serpentine. It's happening shortly."
"All of our families would be there, along with the citizens." Craig commented. The latter got up and looked out the window, and saw all of the citizens gathered at a stage. The others peeked out the window, and saw the citizens too.
"The rally's s-starting!" Jimmy shouted, realizing it has begun. They knew they had to hurry up. The kids rushed all over the place, getting their belongings on, worrying that they wouldn't be late. Just then, Clyde peeks out the window and sees a frightening sight, that nobody would want to see.
The Great Devourer.
Clyde stumbled backwards out of pure shock. "G-Guys..?"
"Not now, Clyde! Our parents are waiting for us-"
"What is that..?" That question alone caught the attention of Tolkien, who walked up to the window.
"Oh my FSM!" Tolkien was shocked at what they discovered. Soon Jimmy, Tweek, and Craig walked over, and witnessed The Great Devourer.
"W-WHAT IS T-THAT?!?!" Tweek shouted, horrified at what he discovered.
"It's some kind of big snake.." Craig commented, looking slightly worried, but he still maintained his monotone voice.
"The ninja can't stop that! We need to do something!" Tolkien said, still shocked about what was going on.
"HOW DO WE STOP THAT.. THAT.. THING, TOLKIEN?!? IT WOULD BE TOO MUCH PRESSURE!!" Tweek was obviously the most terrified out of the five. Craig had attempted to calm Tweek down a bit, but ended up unsuccessful.
"O-Our parent a-are there, t-t-too!" Jimmy remembered, which made things worse.
"We need to do something fast!" Clyde shouted. Everyone's minds were cluttered on what do do, and then Jimmy came up with something.
"We can b-become su-sup-su-superheroes! We may n-not have time to get into co-co-costume, but we can s-still help the c-citizens of Ni-Nin-Ni-Ninjago!" Jimmy suddenly rushed out the door, followed by the other four.
Jimmy was the first one to rush close to the event, being the elemental master of Speed, but stopped. He saw the ninja. Following behind him was Clyde, who was flying. Tweek, Tolkien, and Craig followed behind.
"T-There's the n-ninja!" Jimmy said.
"And Garmadon!" Clyde said, "But he's.. helping the ninja?" the latter was confused. The kids see the Ultra Dragon, and rush over to aid the ninja.
"Fire!" The red ninja shouted, as one of the four heads used it's fire breath on it.
"I wish I had a dragon with four heads. I would be soo happy." Craig said, in a monotone voice.
"We should try and help." Tolkien remarked.
"IT'S EVEN BIGGER IN PERSON!" Tweek freaked out.
"It's okay, honey, we'll be aided by the ninja." Craig said, to help calm Tweek down a bit. Tolkien was about to use their poison on the Great Devourer, before they was stopped by the fire ninja.
"What are you doing, kids? It's not safe here!" The red ninja said, concerned.
"We're here to help defeat this evil giant snake!" Clyde said, flying near the big snake.
"Kid, get down! It's too dangerous!" The black ninja was also concerned.
"Wait a minute, we're not the ONLY elemental masters?" The blue ninja shouted in confusion, noticing that the young boy was flying, rather than standing on the ground.
"Perhaps they could try and help us." The white ninja said.
"Yes! It's running away!" The red ninja shouted, before the Great Devourer struck the Ultra Dragon with its tail, nearly hitting Clyde.
"No!" The kids and ninja shouted, as the Ultra Dragon Hit the ground. "What Now?" A girl with short, straight, black hair asked. A kid, who looked the same age as the kids turned around and saw Garmadon.
"It's.. It's GARMADON!" Clyde said, quite shakily. The 5 kids hid behind the boy with a bowl cut.
"You came back!" The bowl cut boy said, surprised.
"How are you taking this so calmly? It's GARMADON!" Tolkien questioned.
"He's my dad." The boy answered, which left the kids cowering behind him surprised.
"He's y-your dad?" Jimmy had said. Nobody in the group could believe it. The boy looked so.. different from his father. How could this be?
"Give me the weapons. I am the only one who can handle the power of all four weapons at once. It's the only thing that'll defeat the Devourer." The five kids looked at each other confused, and then they looked back at Garmadon. What weapons was he talking about?
"I've ran every other scenario through my servers. It appears to be the only way." The white ninja claimed. Hold on, servers?
"Give me the weapons." Garmadon had said again. There was too much to unpack for Craig's gang. They watched as the ninja gave Garmadon the Golden Weapons. Garmadon chuckled. "I'll do my part. You just make sure he stays in one spot." He laughed, and then ran away. Could the kids really listen to Garmadon?
"Stay in one spot? How are we supposed to do that?" The blue ninja asked.
"We're ninja, remember. Kids, you're going to follow one of us.. wait a minute, how many are in your group?" The fire ninja counted the members in Craig's gang.
There were five members.
"There are five of you.. Two of you will have to follow one of us ninja. Come on, you overgrown worm! Take the bait. Come and get me. Whoa!" The giant serpent chased The red ninja and Clyde throughout the city.
"Are you sure this is a good idea??" Clyde panicked about the fact a giant who-knows-how-long serpent was chasing them.
"We just have to stay in one spot." The red ninja assured Clyde.
"But HOW?" The boy asked, still panicked.
"Just follow my lead, kid." The red ninja said. They kept running until they reached Tolkien and the black ninja.
"Nice run. Now we'll take it from here. Woo-hoo!" The black ninja leaped over buildings into a Construction site, followed by Tolkien, who kept up at the same pace.
"Whoa, kid, you guys have really prepared for this. You guys are almost like us ninja, only except you're younger." The black ninja commented, surprised that a fourth grader was able to keep up the same pace as a ninja.
"Oh yeah, we've done superhero-like things before." Tolkien had said, which left the black ninja with a surprised face.
"I didn't know that you guys did this too?!" The black ninja was surprised at what he heard.
"Well, we didn't fight off a giant, nasty serpent. We more of fought bad guys. I'll tell you more later!" Tolkien reassured. Eventually, they both had reached the blue ninja, and Tweek.
"Looking for me?" The serpent lunges at the blue ninja and the boy, to which they jump down onto an elevator shaft.
"OH MY FSM! WE COULD DIE!! THAT THING IS DANGEROUS!! " Tweek was absolutely terrified. There was a giant serpent after them, who wouldn't be terrified?
"It's okay, we'll keep you guys safe." The blue ninja picks Tweek up as he uses his True Potential to fly up to the top floor with the beast following him.
"What took you so long?" The white ninja asked the two.
"Save the humor, Zane. Now's not the time." The boys had learned a ninja's name. Zane, the white ninja.
"I have a few jokes that you could learn-" Jimmy was interrupted by Craig, who stated "Now's not the time for jokes, Jimmy."
"Instead of a fire escape, how about an ice escape!" Zane had created an ice slide, and the boys jump across it, with Jimmy being the fastest out of all of them.
"Woo-hoo!" Jimmy exclaimed.
"Haha, nice one, Zane!" The blue ninja and Tweek follow behind, but they fly off the end as the Devourer opens wide.
"No, NOO!"
"NOW!"
The Ultra Dragon caught the three boys and two ninja just in time. A shaky sigh of relief escaped from Craig's mouth, while Tweek and Jimmy were completely frozen in shock, looking as white as a sheet of paper.
"You think it's working?" The blue ninja asked.
"We're about to find out." The fire ninja answered. They had managed to make the Devourer bite it's own tail. They cheer. "We did it! Now where's Garmadon? He's not gonna hold for much longer."
"Look!" The bowl cut boy looks up, as well as the other kids. The sky becomes engulfed in dark clouds, where Garmadon is on the roof of a skyscraper.
"You are the reason evil runs through my blood. You bit me once. Now feel what it's like to be bitten back!" He jumps, unleashing a purple energy.
"Go get him, Dad." The boy says.
"Vengeance will be mine!" Garmadon destroys the devourer, and it's venom spreads everywhere throughout the city. Everyone cheers.
"He did it." The blue ninja had said.
"No, we did it, with the help of those kids." The black ninja had said. He was talking about Craig, Tweek, Jimmy, Tolkien, and Clyde. With their additional help, they defeated the Great Devourer. Then, the ninja and the children walk up to a man with gray hair, and a woman with brown hair. They both did not look young, and appeared to be around their 50s, at most.
"Ooh, our little ninja," the woman said, before noticing the boys following behind. "I see you've brought kids with you, too." She says.
"Mom.." The blue ninjas face goes red from pure embarrassment.
"I can feel that.." Clyde sympathizes with the blue ninja, his face slightly frowns, remembering that his mother was deceased.
"Who are they?" The man asks.
Craig introduces himself and his friends to the old couple. "I am Craig, and these are: Jimmy, Tweek, Tolkien, and Clyde."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, boys, I am Jay's mother, and this is his father." Jay's mother introduced herself. Another ninjas name learned: Jay, the blue ninja.
The bowl cut boy looks around. "I don't see my dad." He says, upset that his father is not there.
"He should be around here somewhere." The red ninja reassured the blonde boy that his father would be here, but he wasn't.
"Your analysis is incorrect. He is not here." Zane corrects the red ninja.
"Then our Golden Weapons are gone, too. Well, isn't that convenient?" The black ninja had said.
"Golden Weapons..? Is that what Garmadon was talking about?" Tolkien had asked.
"It's.. quite a story." The red ninja had said. He then proceeded to introduce himself and the others. "By the way, I'm Kai, master of Fire. The black ninja is Cole, master of Earth, the white ninja is Zane, master of Ice, and the blue ninja is Jay, master of Lightning. That boy over there, is Lloyd, the green ninja. He's next to my sister, Nya."
"Look, his footprints!" Nya pointed out. The kids walked over to Nya and Lloyd.
"I have a feeling you'll see your father again." Kai told Lloyd.
"I know, but that's what I'm afraid of." Lloyd looked down, upset of what he would have to do.
"Why would you be afraid of seeing your dad again?" Clyde asked.
"That means I would have to defeat.. my dad.." Lloyd was even more upset at the thought of hurting his own father. Although corrupted by evil, Garmadon cared for Lloyd, and Lloyd cared for him.
Tolkien wraps their arm around Lloyd, and helped to comfort him. "Hopefully, that doesn't happen."
"Ah, Sensei Wu!" Cole had noticed Wu, and ran up to him. Nya gasped.
"Wow." She said.
"Who is that?" Craig had asked.
"Is he okay?" Tweek had also asked.
Craig's gang ran over to the old man on the ground, but he was completely fine.
"Ha! Would you look at that! He survived!" Jay exclaimed.
"Su-Survived the G-Great Dev-De-Devourer attack? I-I'm pretty sure w-we all su-survived that." Jimmy said, unaware of what actually happened during the beasts release.
Kai turned around to face Jimmy, and said "Well, he did survive, but he had been, devoured by the Great Devourer." Jimmy's face went from confusion to shock.
"How could someone have survived that?" Craig asked.
"We.. aren't sure." Kai answered his question.
"I can't tell you how glad I am to see you." Wu said, as he passed his pupils to pick up his teapot. "The devourer left a bad taste in my mouth." The old man then takes a few sips of his tea. "Ah. Much better. And still hot." Then, he notices the five kids looking at him. "And who are they?" He asks.
"Oh, hehe, they are just some kids that offered to help us defeat the Great Devourer." Jay scratched the back of his neck, giggling awkwardly.
Wu looked at each one of the kids, and then back at his pupils. He was thinking of something.
"What is it?" Clyde asked the old man. The man turned his head to the black ninja, asked him a question, and when he answered, he turned his head to Tolkien.
"My student, Cole, has told me that you five were 'superheroes'. Is that true?" Wu had asked Tolkien.
Tolkien broke out into a sweat. They used one hand to grasp the back of their neck, while the other stoked their coily hair. "Well, uh.. yes. That is true. We're not ninja, and we're not quite exactly superheroes, either. I mean, we did dress up as superheroes." Tolkien answered.
"Why would you ask that?" Tweek questioned.
"He told me that you guys were 'a lot like ninja'. Perhaps you could also be my new pupils, along with Lloyd."
Clyde's face lit up brighter than the sun. "Wait, are we going to be NINJAS?!" Clyde exclaimed. He was the happiest of the five, but the rest were a bit confused.
"But we don't know anything about ninjas." Craig had said.
"How are we going to be ninjas if we know nothing about them?" Tweek questioned.
"He's right. We only have experience being 'superheroes', not ninja." Tolkien added.
"Don't worry. We'll teach you everything we know." Kai assured them.
Jay turned his head over to Lloyd. "And we'll make sure that Lloyd is prepared for that fight."
"Because as we all know, good will always stand up to evil." Cole told the children.
"And ninja will always stand up for what is right." The Zane added to Cole's statement.
"Go Ninja, Go!" The ninja and kids yelled.
