I was a bit confused. The commoner had just given me an amulet for good luck in love, and said that she hoped things went well with me and Thane. And yet, if she was in love with me, wasn’t this against her interests?
“You’ve said you love me, yes? Then why would you support my love for someone else?”
“But you’re not interested in me, right? There’s nothing I can do about that. Of course I’d be delighted if you returned my feelings, but since that’s off the table, all I can do is wish you the best.”
That did kind of make sense, when she put it like that.
“Why are you so taken with me?” I asked curiously.
“Because you saved me.”
What the hell? “I don’t understand.”
“You can save me now if you’d like,” she added. “Specifically with a hug or a kiss.”
Yeah, that still didn’t make any sense. But whatever, why not, I guess.
“Oh, alright,” I said. And then I gave her a hug.
