The sound of walking and hushed talking rung in the back of my head within my sleep deprived state. Although I felt tired and limp all the time, I found it a struggle to finally lose that consciousness I so rightfully deserved. My chapped pale lips smacked together, I noticed how dehydrated I felt. I slowly turn my head to my bedside table and try to reach for the styrofoam cup of water. Due to my delirious mind, I end up knocking down the cup without realizing. I blink not knowing what happened and as I prepare myself to hear it fall to the ground, it doesn't.
"Hey, whoa you're awake," I dont rememberhow long i was awake for... "Try to be a bit more careful next time, my love." I wish I could've tried harder. I attempt to mutter out words but only a staggered breath leaves my lips. "Don't push yourself to speak, I know it must be hard." God I loved him. Though he's a dork most of the time, Joseph really did care. I feel a calloused hand gently rub my cheek as another grabs my hand. "You're not in pain are you? Don't worry I'll be here, my love." He looked at me with those striking eyes of his. My, how I love those eyes. He slowly leaned in and gave me the most gentle peck on my cracked lips. I wish I could've put effort to kiss back, but it was already a struggle to keep my eyes open.
I hear the sound of the door open and footsteps approaching, "..." Huh? I'm too tired to listen. My eyes close. "..!" I can't tell who's talking but by the loudness I could safely assume it's Joseph. "...." I wish I knew what was going on, but I'm tired. I start to drift off into an uncomfortable slumber.
...
...
I can't tell what's going on around me, I feel cold except for my hand. It's warm, like a loving embrace. I feel a gentle squeeze on my hand. It felt nice. I wish I could see him. It shouldn't end like this. Could I even get to tell him I love him? I'd trade anything to see him one last time. It's unfair.
I let the warmth from my hand take over my body as I let a tear slide down my pale, yellowish face. "..." He says something but it falls upon deaf ears. I just want to hear his beautiful voice. His british accent makes me feel so happy. No matter how hard I try, I can't open my tried eyes. It hurts me to know I'll leave this world without seeing my love again. The agony is unbelievable.
I feel a breath on my ear. "I love you.. just know you'll always be in my heart.." I finally heard his voice.. it was faint but I can finally hear him. I feel better.
"I..." I breathe out. I want him to hear.
"I..." Please, he's all I have.
"Love.. you..." I muttered out my words before feeling as if my body were as light as a feather. I felt nausea hit me like a bus as I saw every moment of my life that I could remember pop back into my brain. It felt like a movie condensed within seconds.
For a moment I felt a sense a freedom before I fell into nothingness. A void of space and time. It felt nice. I didn't feel stuck, it was like a warmth of a mother's embrace. It's over. Although I'm gone, I feel as though I can be free from the shackles of the illness that kept me chained to that bed. I hope he knows how much I love him.
