Chapter Text

Charles Leclerc was thinking about Max Verstappen again, Max with handsome eyes and pretty eyelashes. Charles walked over to the window and reflected on his peaceful surroundings. He had always loved quiet Monaco with its squealing, sad streets. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel regret.

Then he saw something in the distance or rather someone. It was a figure.

Charles gulped. He glanced at the figure. It was a destructive, controlling, Red Bull drinker with the leanest waist and pretty eyelashes. It was his Max, the Max he had lost two months ago. He didn't know why he did what he did, all he knew was that Max probably hated him, and he had no one to blame but himself.

As Charles stepped outside, and Max came closer, he could see the sturdy glint in his eye, a look of determination. Max glared with all the wrath of 6795 possessive, cuddly cats. He said, in hushed tones, "I hate you, and I want closure."

Charles looked back, even more hopeful. "Max, I still love you," he replied.

Charles studied Max's face, and Max's eyes were filled with a mixture of hurt and frustration. Eventually, Charles took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry," his tone laced with an apology, "but I don't feel the same way, and I never will. I just don't hate you, Max."

Max clenched his jaw, struggling to contain his emotions. "You know, Charles, it's not just about whether you hate me or not. It's about the fact that you left me feeling used and discarded, and you can't just apologize your way out of that."

Charles looked at Max, his eyes filled with a mix of hesitation and remorse. He took a deep breath and said, "You're right, Max. I owe you an apology for how I handled everything. I should have been more considerate of your feelings, and I'm truly sorry for making you feel that way."

Max's anger began to wane, replaced by a glimmer of curiosity. "Apologies are a start, Charles, but they don't change what's already happened."

Charles hesitated for a moment, then finally spoke, his voice filled with sincerity, "Max, I know I hurt you, and I can't change the past. But I want you to know that  I've come to realize that I still have feelings for you. I want to try again, to make things right this time."

Max's eyes widened in surprise, his guard slowly lowering. "You... you want to try again? Charles, do you mean it?"

Charles nodded his heart on his sleeve. "Yes, Max. I mean it. I know it won't be easy, and I have a lot to make up for, but I want to try. I want to see if we can make it work."

Max's emotions were a whirlwind, torn between the pain of the past and the possibility of a better future. After a moment, he said, "I need time to think about this, Charles. I can't just forget what happened, but I appreciate your honesty."

Charles understood and nodded, "Take all the time you need, Max. I'll be here whenever you're ready to talk, and I'll respect whatever decision you make."

Max's eyes met Charles's, and at that moment, they both knew they had taken the first step toward mending what had been broken. Charles leaned in, and their lips met in a soft, tender kiss, full of the unspoken promise of a better future.

As they pulled away, Max looked into Charles's eyes, a mix of confusion and happiness in his gaze. "I don't know how this will turn out, but I'm willing to give it a chance," Max whispered.

Charles smiled and gently brushed a strand of hair away from Max's face. "That's all I could ever hope for, Max. I'll be here, ready to show you that I've changed."

Their moment of connection hung in the air, a glimmer of hope in the night. Max hesitated, then turned to leave, fading into the darkness once more, still carrying his past hurt but now with a newfound sense of possibility and happiness in his heart.
