Ness was your average diner worker. Except for the fact that he worked at a giant pizzeria mall thing. He sighs, the traffic had slowed down as the pizzeria gets closer to closing. He finished up cleaning the tables and closed the roll up door at the front of the restaurant and made his way down the maze of back rooms.
That’s when he bumped into one of the security guards, Mike he remembered.
“Hello Mike!” Ness said “How has your shift been going?”
“Hey Ness, it's been going well.” He responded “We have a meeting right now, so I’ll get going. See you around!”
Ness waved goodbye and continued on his way. Now which way was the exit again… He ended up taking a wrong turn and ended up in roxy raceway. Somehow. He sighed, i guess he now needs to walk back. As he was passing the bottom of the atrium staircase when he heard someone sprinting. That person grabbed his hand and pulled him into a storage closet and locked the door.
“WHAT IS-” That person put a hand over his mouth. Then he heard footsteps and the scrape of a knife past the locked door.
He felt chills run down his spine, wh- what was happening. First he took a good look at the person, it was mike. He was terrified. He gently put a hand over his, silently promising to stay quiet. He pointed at the door. Mike made a gesture over his throat.
Shit.
He tried to spot anything that could help, then he saw the vent. It was opened due to maintenance being done in the air conditioning. He pointed at it, then the two tried to squeeze in. they managed, barely, so they followed it to where it lead them closest to the exit. It dropped them off near the daycare. They entered the bathrooms and after checking the cameras in mike’s security ipad, they started talking.
“Who was that! What is going on mike.”
“That was a rabbit thing that killed half our staff. They called us all up there to kill us.” Mike winced.
It was then he noticed the gash in his arm. Ness ripped a piece of his apron and tied it as a bandage.
“Thank you…”
“Cmon, I know that the exit is near”
They were almost to the main entrance when the rabbit thing approached them again. Mike told ness to run, and pulled out his taser only to be shocked that it didn't work on the rabbit. They swiped the knife at him, but he dodged it. Ness was too shocked to react when suddenly Monty grabbed him from behind and held him up in the air.
Mike turned around and a knife dug into his side. He collapsed, helpless to do anything. He then thought of his sister Abby, Fuck his aunt might gain custody of her, if not then she would go to the foster system. Fuck he really was a disappointment.
“Are you having fun yet?” Said the white rabbit.
Suddenly what looked to be a kid shot Monty with a fazer blaster. Ness than picked a line divider pole and knocked the rabbit over the head with it. The kid, accompanied by freddy of all people motioned them to the exit. Mike tried to stand up but he doubled over on his knees. It was then that Ness picked him up and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
They were sprinting towards the exit, where they found police and ambulances arriving for them. Confused mike looked up at Ness. Ness explained to him that he had messaged his police chief friend vanessa and she got the police here for them. Ness took him to the ambulances where the medical staff helped lessen the bleeding in mike’s stab wound. They took them to the hospital where they were questioned by police, but they refused to be apart from each other.
Later that evening Ness was lying in a hospital bed next to mike’s. He was scrolling tik tak, and mike was playing soubway riders, mike spoke up.
“Y’know, if it wasn't for that stupid meeting, i would have asked you out to dinner.” He laughed. “I guess I should have skipped the meeting and gone through with it.”
“I would have said yes.” Ness said without looking up.
“Well. After i am released from the hospital the offer’s open.” Mike put down his phone and settled in the sheets.
Ness chuckled.
Maybe today wasn’t that bad after all.
