Day 30: Patient 0

Summary:

Lando didn't realize that he was sick before a night with his boyfriends, now all three were sick.

Work Text:

Lando was the one to blame, the reason the three felt like death and the reason why their teammates looked like they wanted to kill them. To be fair Lando didn’t realize he was sick until it was too late. Trying to untangle both Max and Carlos’ arms from around him in the morning after a night together before he vomited on them was harder than he wanted to admit and he didn’t make it to the the toilet, having to grab the trash can in the bathroom before he vomited all over the floor. The noise woke both Max and Carlos who ran to the aid of their boyfriend. Now all three were sick and miserable and their teams were not happy with them.

“Carlos you’re an idiot I’ll have you know.” Charles' voice was judgmental through the phone which Carlos didn’t need right. Having to call the team and tell them that he wasn’t able to travel, he could barely leave the bathroom was not what Carlos wanted, what none of them wanted.

“You don’t have to be mean to me right now. I’m sick.” Carlos leaned his head against the bathroom counter where he was sitting on the floor. Max was sleeping on the bathroom floor, lying down after his last round of vomiting. Lando was asleep in their bed, the only one even starting to feel better.

“But I do. I’m never letting you forget this, letting none of you forget this.” Charles was laughing at Carlos now, loud laughter echoing in the bathroom from the speaker of his phone. Carlos has his phone on speaker, his phone sitting on the floor by his leg.

“Tell him to shut up.” Max grumbled, head not lifting from the floor.

“Sorry, Max but you are all still idiots. I guess I will let you go. Tell Lando he is also an idiot for me.” Charles hung up but Carlos made no move to grab his phone.

“How are you feeling?” Carlos asked Max who was still curled up by the toilet on the floor and looked like he had no plans to move unless needed.

“Like shit.” Max grumbled, barely lifting his head to look at Carlos. Carlos knew that the two of them sitting/lying on the bathroom floor wasn’t very hygienic but couldn’t care less about that fact right now. For the first time in two days, he felt like he wasn’t about to vomit with a single movement so he wasn’t going to risk it.

The two sat in silence, scared to move when they heard commotion from the bedroom, Max was barely able to scotch over before Lando rushed in, dropping to his knees to vomit into the toilet. Carlos had to concentrate so he wasn’t sick as well but Max wasn’t so lucky, having to grab the garbage can to vomit into. Carlos had to get up and leave before he was vomiting as well; he felt bad leaving the other two in the bathroom but he couldn’t be in there. He was able to stumble into the living room, far enough way he wasn’t able to hear the other two. He flopped onto the couch, falling asleep very soon after.

Lando rocked back onto his heels when he was done, feeling absolutely awful. He looked over his shoulder to see Max sitting with the garbage can between his legs, leaning against the bathtub. He thought Carlos was also in the bathroom but he wasn’t now and he didn’t have the brainpower to think too much about it right now. Max lifted his head to look at Lando, face pale and sweating. Lando knew he didn’t look too much better.

“Charles called you an idiot.” Max said, eyes barely able to focus on Lando.

“Why? When?”

“Carlos was talking to him before you barged in here. Said we were all idiots.”

“You think if I knew I was sick I would have been making out with both of you a few nights ago.” Lando already felt bad enough about getting the other two sick he didn’t need other people making him feel worse.

“I’m going to bed. I can’t sleep on the floor again.” Max pushed himself off the floor, leaving the garbage can of vomit behind. He rinsed his mouth out with some water on his way out, banging off the doorframe on his way into the bedroom. Lando waited a few moments before pushing himself up, flushing the toilet as he did. He grabbed the garbage can, emptying it into the toilet, flushing again before rinsing it out and putting it back. Lando decided to find Carlos, stumbling out of the bathroom and bedroom toward the living room where he was hoping Carlos would be. He found Carlos asleep on the couch and decided to leave him there, letting him get the rest he needed. Lando was walking back to the bedroom when there was a knock on the door, Lando was confused. Who would be knocking on their door at this time of day when they were all sick? Lando opened the door and was surprised to see Oscar on the other side wearing a mask.

“Why are you here?” Lando asked, leaning heavily against the doorframe looking at his teammate.

“Making sure none of you were dead and to bring you some things.” Oscar pointed toward where there was a bag sitting by the door.

“Thanks.” Lando couldn’t be bothered right now to try and grab the bag, looking at his teammate with tired eyes.

“You look like shit man.”

“Wow, thanks. I’d thought I’d look fabulous after vomiting for two days.”

“Well just try and get better quick will you.”

“You think I wanted to be sick.”

“I know but Red Bull and Ferrari are being annoying that you got their drivers sick, that you did it on purpose, blah blah blah.”

“Sorry about that.” Lando did feel bad about getting both Max and Carlos sick he didn’t need their teams blaming him as well.

“Just get better and maybe next time you feel a bit off don’t have sex with your boyfriends.” Oscar said before walking away. Lando waited until he was gone before grabbing the bag, kicking it inside when he didn’t have the energy to pick it up. Putting the popsicles, Gatorade and ginger ale away, leaving the rest on the floor before going back toward the bedroom. Max was no longer in bed and Lando heard the toilet flush. Lando flopped onto the bed, waiting for Max to join him again. He was tired, his tummy hurt and wanted cuddles. Max came out not long after, looking paler than he had all week.

“Sorry, what were you saying?” Max said, flopping onto the bed with Lando. Lando was half asleep but was confused by what Max was saying, he wasn’t talking to the older man. Lando watched as Max grabbed his phone from the bedside table, setting it on the pillow between his and Lando’s head.

“Was just asking if you were feeling any better but considering you stopped conversation to vomit I say no.” Checo’s voice rang through the room from Max’s speaker.

“Not better, not worse.”

“Well try and feel better please.” The bedroom door opened, Carlos on the other side. He didn’t seem to realize someone was on the phone as he moved toward the bed, lying behind Lando.

“I will try. We will all try.” Max looked at his boyfriends, both looked close to falling asleep. Max didn’t let Checo say anything else, just hung up the phone. He tossed the device onto the bedside table before rolling toward his boyfriends.

“So our teammates all think we’re idiots.” Lando said.

“When did Oscar call?” Max said, head barely lifting from where it was resting on Lando’s shoulder.

“No, he showed up. Brought some stuff to help us feel better. It’s in the kitchen; we can worry about it later. I don’t know about you guys but I’m ready to sleep.”

“I am more than ready. I think I’m starting to feel better and just want to sleep until I can move without wanting to vomit.” Carlos said into Lando’s hair. His arm was thrown over Lando’s waist, holding onto Max’s hand that was resting on the bed between the Brit and Dutchman.

“Same.” Max said.

“I’m sorry for getting you both sick. I thought I was just so excited to have a couple uninterrupted days with you both and that was the feeling in my stomach. If I knew that I was sick I never would have come.” Lando’s guilt was coming out. Hearing that their teammates and team blamed him was really making him feel guiltier than he already was.

“Not your fault. You did not know. Teams are stupid. Love you guys.” Max mumbled as he fell asleep, eyes falling closed as he spoke.

“Max is right. Not your fault. Would still have wanted you here even if we knew.” Carlos pressed a kiss to the back of Lando’s neck. Lando smiled a little, glad his boyfriends weren’t mad at him and that was all he needed. Lando cuddled back into Carlos and before long all three were asleep, hoping to wake up feeling better than ever.
