He's Big Where It Matters

Summary:

Peter is average height, thank you. Isaac is just tall.

Work Text:

Isaac rolled his eyes as the large alpha crowded his space again, attempting to hit on him. Peter was getting upset at the blatant cloud of pheromones around them both.

“Come on,” the alpha pressed closer to Isaac. “I could take care of you so well for your next heat.”

“Pass.”

“What does this little mini-alpha even do for you?”

“Hey!” Peter flashed his eyes, “back off.”

“I’m Ennis, in case you don’t know me.”

“I don’t. And I don’t want to,” Isaac huffed.

Ennis stood in their way and crossed his arms. “It’s proper for an omega to respond to an alpha.”

Isaac snorted and stepped around Ennis. Peter carefully followed, not making his defensive positioning too obvious. He didn’t need to kick off a fight over someone Isaac wasn’t even interested in, and even if he was, Peter wasn’t dating Isaac yet.

“Bet an omega like you needs a lot to get through a heat, and I bet this little alpha pup here doesn’t have the equipment needed.”

Isaac spun quickly, and Peter had to duck the flailing hand. “I am plenty happy with him, and he’s big where it matters! And most of all, he actually fucking respects me as a whole person, not just some moaning wet hole that he gets to shove his knot in to.”

Peter blinked a few times as Isaac spun back around and stormed off.

“Your omega is feisty,” Ennis commented.

“I know,” Peter didn’t correct Ennis on them being together. “He’s perfect.”

Ennis looked doubtful, “good luck with that one. He’s unruly, he’s going to get you in trouble.”

Peter sneered, “This isn’t the 1800s.”

Ennis lunged and Peter ducked. He walked away as the other alpha was righting himself. He didn’t bother looking back, just jogged a bit to catch up with Isaac. They just wanted to catch a quick movie the rest of the pack wasn’t interested in, and now the entire day was overshadowed. Peter could see why the assumption happened. They were in matching shirts and everything.

“Can you even believe that guy?” Isaac grumbled.

Peter nodded and crossed his arms. “No.”

“I’m sorry,” Isaac cringed. “I should have corrected him.”

“You did,” Peter shrugged.

“You’re still upset, though.”

Peter scoffed.

“I’m sorry, okay.” Isaac motioned towards Peter, “I won’t let anyone think we’re together ever again.”

“that is not the problem!”

Isaac paused. “then what?”

“You didn't have to agree that I am short. I’m perfectly normal, you’re just a weird tall giant.”

Isaac huffed a laugh.

“I’ve said it before to all the omegas in the pack, if anyone messes with you, feel free to use me as a shield.” Peter ignored the voice in him that said that Isaac could take far more liberties than anyone else.

Isaac came up from behind him and wrapped him in a hug, making their walk awkward as they made their way down the street. Peter had to forcibly shove down the part of him preening at the whispers of his clingy omega.

Stiles flopped on the couch next to Peter with a shit-eating grin. “Hey, short stuff.”

“We are the same height.”

Stiles shrugged.

“What do you want, Stiles?”

“Can’t a boy just sit?”

Peter arched an eyebrow. “Most boys, yes. But you don’t just sit. You cause trouble.”

“I’m hurt.” Stiles put a hand over his heart.

“Out with it already, Stiles. I don’t have time for this today.”

“Fine, suck all the fun out of my day.” Stiles rolled his eyes. “Isaac will never ask you out. So you need to do the asking.”

“I have no idea what you mean.”

“Sure you don’t.” Stiles rolled his eyes. “Just ask him out. On an actual date. Not just a weird not-date like you normally do.”

“I’ve never — ”

“Oh like anyone else was going to want to see that movie. No. We didn’t. And so you set it up so that it was just you two but in a way where Isaac was left unsure if you still wanted to go to it with just you two because he thinks his crush is too obvious.”

“But.”

“It is obvious. So. Ask him out already. Because your crush is obvious, too.”

Stiles didn’t bother waiting for a response before skipping off to bother Theo. Peter scowled because if anyone was obvious about their crush, it was those two.

Isaac slipped into the meeting a bit later, choosing to sit on the floor by Peter and leaning into Peter’s leg. By halfway through the meeting, Isaac was dozing while Peter gently scratched his scalp.

Peter ignored the looks from Derek and Stiles at the position. At the end of the night, the pack quietly shuffled out at the insistence of Stiles, and he was left alone with a sleeping Isaac. Once they were all gone, Peter gently reached down to wake up Isaac.

He gently fixed Isaac’s hair and smiled. “I was thinking that maybe we could go out for a movie again.”

“Oh?”

“Maybe as a date this time?”

Isaac smiled and quickly climbed into Peter’s lap and kissed him.

Peter pulled back with a smile. “I’ll take that as a yes?”

“Yeah,” Isaac looked between Peter’s eyes and lips, “definitely.”
