“He’s such an idiot,” George mutters out fondly with a scoff.
“Hmm?” A confused, only half paying attention, Dream replies from where he’s sitting next to George on the couch. Both are minding their own business, scrolling through their own phones, just enjoying each other's presence.
George doesn’t reply, not really paying any mind to the fact that Dream mumbled out a response in the first place. Instead he just watches the clip that elicited his own response again… and again.
It’s a clip he came across on twitter, a clip of Sapnap more specifically. George figures it must have been from his later stream last night, the background not being lit up by the natural light from the sun that normally makes his room look so lively.
“We are dating, me and George, it’s official,” rings through George’s ears through his headphones for, who knows which time this is? Sixth? Ninth? Thirteenth? It doesn’t really matter. But for some reason he finds the words, the whole clip to make him feel… He doesn’t exactly know. He likes it though, thinks it’s funny.
Getting up, Dream shoots him a questioning look. Once again George doesn’t give an answer, having other things on his mind. Dream still doesn’t bug him for a response, seemingly content with sending his attention back to his cellphone.
Walking away, George makes his way to Sapnap’s room, knowing full well that he’s still sleeping right now. He has an idea in mind though and knows exactly how he wants to start it.
Opening the door quietly, George makes his way inside; stopping for a moment to smile at the sleeping figure sprawled across the bed. If George thinks he looks cute while he's sleeping, that’s a thought for only himself.
As he walks up to the bed he carefully, as to not disturb the sleeping man, lifts the covers and climbs onto the bed to snuggle up next to him. It’s not like it’s the first time they’ve ever cuddled while sleeping. George does suppose that usually followed them spending time together the night before with one of them too sleepy to leave to go to their own room.
This would be a first; the first time one of them joined the other without reasoning. George does have a reason though. He simply wants to do things that he thinks they’d do if they were actually officially dating, as Sapnap had said, wanting to play into his joke.
Cuddling while they sleep is the first step. He'll come up with more when the time comes. For now he rests his eyes, tucked in next to his friend. Or "boyfriend" he should say.
He thinks this will be funny.

When he wakes up again a couple hours later he momentarily forgot all about his plan, why he was in Sapnap’s bed when his eyes fluttered open. Even if he couldn’t remember, the way Sapnap’s hand running through his hair felt would be reason enough to be there. It did stop abruptly when Sapnap realised he was awake though.
“Good morning, Sappy,” he mumbles sleepily, nuzzling closer to Sapnap, hoping the feeling of fingers carding through his hair returns.
“Morning, Georgie?” It comes out sounding like a question, like he’s confused why he’s there. Like he's been wondering why for a while. George wonders how long he's been awake for.
He has to stop himself from giggling at Sapnap's wonder though. His plan is working.
Then a bright idea pops into George’s mind. He’s already cuddled up against Sapnap, lips just inches away from Sapnap’s neck. So with a tilt of his head, he kisses the confused man’s neck softly, making his confusion grow tenfold.
“George?”
“Hmm?” Another kiss, Sapnap’s breath hitches slightly and George feels satisfied by the response, causing him to smile against his neck.
Clearing his throat as he seemingly tries to clear his head, Sapnap looks down into George’s eyes. George looks back with fake innocent wonder. “What- What are you doing?”
Instead of answering, George replies, “Do you want a smoothie, baby? I can go make us some, bring it back here, then we can watch something on your new TV for a bit before you ditch me to stream?”
As soon as the pet name slips through George's lips, Sapnap's face becomes engulfed in blush.
“Uh… Yeah, that- That sounds good.” There’s a strong sense of hesitance in his words, almost as if thinking George is pulling some sort of prank on him.
And to George that’s exactly what he thinks he’s doing to Sapnap.
Getting up, George leaves to go make the promised smoothies, leaving a very confused, but content Sapnap in his bed.
After gathering all the ingredients and blending them together, placing the dishes into the sink with the hopes Dream deals with it, he brings two glasses back towards Sapnap’s room. He enters, seeing Sapnap smile at him as he shows off the drinks, reaching out to be passed one of the glasses. George gives it over willingly.
George agreed to let Sapnap put on Hunter x Hunter and the two of them laid in his bed, watching it for a short while. It doesn’t take long before George finds himself cuddled up to Sapnap again. He doesn’t even remember doing it, but it goes perfectly with his plan, so he doesn’t question it.
“George? Is it my birthday or something? Why are you being so nice to me today?” Sapnap questions after the second episode they were watching had ended.
“What? Does there have to be a reason for me to be nice to my kitten?” George says teasingly.
“First things first, you’re my kitten,” Sapnap corrects. “Secondly, no… But it just seems so out of the blue.”
“You’re wrong, and no I’m always this nice to you.” George giggles after his response and Sapnap just rolls his eyes and drops it, telling George that as much as he’s really enjoying this, he needs to stream. George feels reluctant in letting him, but he knows he has to.
“Can I just lay here and watch you?” George wonders.
Shaking his head, Sapnap answers, “No, my TV reflects my bed. Sorry.” And George can’t help but smile when he sees that Sapnap seems genuinely sorry, as if he wishes George actually could.

It’s been three weeks, three weeks of George acting like they were a couple or… something. Sapnap hasn’t grown any less confused, but he’s choosing to just embrace it. It’s more enjoyable that way, he finds.
Plus, it's not like that isn't exactly what he wants anyways.
Since that morning when he woke up surprised to see his best friend lying next to him in bed, the two of them have woken up next to each other each day. Something that Sapnap has zero complaints about.
It isn’t just that though. George likes kissing him… a lot. Never on the lips, but he often peppers Sapnap’s face with soft kisses. On his nose, his cheeks, along his jawline, and what Sapnap has realised is George’s favourite, along his neck. He thinks George secretly just wants to leave a mark. He'd let him.
It took Sapnap about a week to feel confident enough to leave a kiss on George himself. Still though, even now a couple weeks later, he’s far more hesitant about it than George is. Even though he found out he absolutely loves the feeling of George’s skin against his lips. Maybe that’s what is causing his hesitance, he wonders.
But ignoring things like that, there’s still more . George has been taking him out on ‘dates’. Even offering to pay sometimes. Sapnap can’t say he minds that either.
Or how George scratches against his scalp gently as he plays with his hair as they’re cuddled up watching a movie, a show, scrolling through tiktok, anything. Or how George has become incredibly clingy, always finding a reason to be touching him, more so than what used to be normal for them. How he started keeping some of his belongings in Sapnap’s room.
Just everything new that has appeared out of the fucking blue to Sapnap, is- It’s perfect, Sapnap realises. Possibly everything he’s been wanting from George without even fully realising it.
He knew he liked George as something more than a friend, but getting to experience all of this really just amplifies how strongly he feels for him.
That leads to a problem itself, because now he’s become very aware of just how much he wants to actually be dating George. Before he thought he'd be fine staying friends forever, but now he's thinking about things differently. He feels like George is teasing him by giving him a taste of what it would be like without actually being together.
Sapnap wonders if he can just… sort of blur the lines a little further, see just how far George is willing to take whatever this is between them.
There’s no harm in trying, he figures. If George isn’t okay with it, he knows he’d tell him in a heartbeat.
So with a newfound courage, that Sapnap is sure will disappear if he doesn’t do this right now, he barges into George’s room. Only to see he’s not in there, so he goes to the second place Sapnap thinks he’ll find him. In his own room.
And that’s where he is, sitting under the covers on Sapnap’s bed, scrolling through what Sapnap thinks is TikTok based off of the sounds coming from his phone.
George looks up at him, smiling softly before patting the space on the bed next to him, an invitation. Sapnap takes it, climbing into bed with a racing heart. Heart racing because of what he’s about to do.
“You good?” George asks curiously, sensing Sapnap’s nervousness.
Not thinking of a response, not wanting to give himself time to back out, Sapnap leans in, hovering about an inch away from George’s lips with his own. He wants to give George time to stop him if he wants, if he doesn't want this.
And when he doesn’t Sapnap closes the gap, pressing his far dryer than ideal lips against George’s smooth ones. Despite that, George doesn’t seem to mind. He tangles his hand in Sapnap’s hair, pulling him impossibly closer as he uses Sapnap’s dry lips as an excuse to drag his tongue along them.
Sapnap feels like he’s in heaven, like he just died and is living a reality too good to be true. Which he thinks might actually happen if he doesn’t pull away to catch his breath. He thinks he might be okay with that though, dying to George’s lips.
And if that didn’t mean he’d never get to feel it again, he’d let it happen. Instead he pulls away from George, both panting as they catch their breaths.
“Holy fuck, George, I love you,” Sapnap confesses before his brain is filled with oxygen again and is able to stop him from blurting the words out with a lightheaded chuckle.
George leans in, giving him another kiss. However, this one is brief and sweet, and when he pulls away he whispers, “I love you too.”
Sapnap wasn’t expecting to hear that from him, knowing how hard it can be for George to say that at times. It makes him feel incredibly overwhelmed in the best possible way.
“I feel kind of like an idiot right now,” George admits with a chuckle.
Sapnap shoots him a questioning glance, head tilted like a confused puppy. “Why?”
“I thought this was a joke.”
“What? Me liking you?”
“No. Me liking you .” Sapnap isn’t any less confused. George picks up on it so he explains, “I saw a clip of you, like, saying that we were dating, as a joke… And so, I decided to play into the joke, act like we were actually dating. You know, for the shits and giggles.” Blush is increasingly darkening on George’s face as he talks, feeling ridiculous thinking back on it.
“But now you realise that it wasn’t a joke?”
George nods. Sapnap smiles so wide that his cheeks start hurting.
“I was wondering why you started acting like that.” He chuckles.
“You never asked,” George points out.
“No, I did, that first day I asked why you were being so nice, you deflected the question. I just started going along with it.” He shrugs. “It’s not like I minded it.”
George chuckles. “Yeah, I can see that.”
“Now can we just spend the rest of the day doing nothing but kissing?” Sapnap wonders with eager excitement.
George nods and pulls him in again, letting their lips, their tongues, have the rest of their conversation for them; no words necessary anymore. They can both tell what each other wants.
If Sapnap knew that he could manifest a relationship from George by jokingly saying they were dating on stream, he would have done it forever ago. And if during his next stream he “jokingly” says he’s going to marry George one day to manifest that too, it’s no one’s business but George’s and his own.
