Work Text:
Cellbit honestly wasn't having a great time, but then again no one was having a great time, and no one was going to. With maybe the exception of the first day everyone had been here and had mercilessly slaughtered most of his team, including him. They hadn't had a good day, but everyone else seemed to.
He was having an even worse time now, after managing to die to several mobs today, and finally getting to Badboyhalo who he had a mission to kill today. He would get revenge on the man who had killed so many of his teammates. He'd even get the blood that he craved so much. He'd finally gotten to Bad and this motherfucker managed to disappear right under his nose.
This would've been his first kill alone, his first chance to not fucking starve to death and just fucking drink the blood from his body. Even if demon blood tasted different than others, he could've had it. He was so fucking close. He could taste it in the air practically.
"God dammit." He groaned, letting himself fall to the ground. His one fucking shot. Yeah, sure, he could just ask his teammates if he could drink some of their blood, and they'd probably let him, but Cellbit was starved at this point. The meat from the pigs didn't have enough blood in it to satisfy the need for blood in his stomach.
Feeling starved as a vampire such as himself meant the moment he tasted the blood from someone, he was pretty sure he wouldn't stop drinking until they were dead. It wouldn't end well for his teammates. It didn't help that when he got starved, he tended to get cannibalistic as well, and that left scars he didn't wish on his teammates or anyone really. He hadn't resorted to that in a long time though, but if he didn't get anything remotely human soon, he was gonna fucking lose it, and might just relapse.
"What happened?" Phil asked over the earbuds they all had in their ears to hear teammates. He sounded concerned, while Cellbit was seething about Bad.
"This motherfucker," He hissed, "disappeared in broad daylight."
That was at least one of the misconceptions of vampires, they didn't die in daylight, it just tended to give them worse sunburns, but he didn't really care. He was just gonna start losing it more if he didn't get any human blood soon. Even if it was technically a demons'. That was the one bad part about death, and being a vampire. Unlike every other human on the island, his hunger didn't reset when he died, or at least he was pretty sure that's how it worked for them. If he died hungry, he woke up hungry, and fuck if Cellbit was not fucking starving right now. It had been over three fucking days and he was going to crack eventually.
"So, come back, regroup. You can get him later." Phil said, over his comms. He sounded calm, trying to keep Cellbit safe and in a half-decent mood.
Cellbit was fed up with this shit though. He was hungry, and Bad had taught him in the last war to go after your prey and get it when you're hungry. The same lessons Bad taught him would be his downfall. He was going to find that man and kill him if it was the last thing he ever did.
"Cellbit?" Baghera asked softly. He knew that she would want him to come back to the base.
"I could just go after him as well, he's probably at his base. I could just find him." He muttered. He was hungry, and he knew if he tried to explain it to Phil and Baghera, they wouldn't understand.
"It's not worth it, Cellbit and you know that." Phil said. It was only the three of them on comms right now. The other four were either elsewhere or just not on comms. He didn't have that many people telling him to come back.
"Phil, I don't think you understand." He said, starting to laugh a little in his breakdown. "I'm so hungry. I just- I need something, and animals are not fixing this issue. I need actual blood, alright?"
Normally he'd have Roier. Lovely Roier who'd let him drink a little at the end of the day so that he wouldn't have to worry about finding a substitute for blood. He didn't have the option of Roier anymore and if he tried to drink from one of his teammates, he was just going to kill them at this point. Which was something he didn't want.
"What? Cellbit, you should've said something. We can help." Phil scolded him slightly. He knew that they all needed to work together to get through this, but this wasn't something they could help with. Not right now at least.
"Yeah, let us help with that." Baghera agreed. They didn't know what they wanted to help with. Not truly.
"No, you don't- you don't get it. I'll kill one of you if I drink from you right now." He whispered.
"That's okay. It's not worth going after Bad right now. Just come back to the base and we can get you fixed up. Bad will probably kill you if you go after him right now." Phil said.
Cellbit looked at the map of the server and stared. The blue base was closer, and he could feed much quicker if he just went there instead of back to the base. Phil and Baghera just didn't understand how all consuming this hunger was. They didn't get how much it tapped into his energy and how he wasn't even sure if he could get back to the base without properly losing it. They couldn't understand the urge to feed on blood, and never would. He would have to ignore them.
"Yeah, I'm gonna take that risk. Sorry, Phil." He said, standing up and clicking himself out of comms so that he wouldn't have to hear them all trying to get him to not go attack Bad and drink his blood.
He knew he was going against the dynamic they'd set that first day where they'd all felt as if they were going to hell, and they'd never get out, but he was hungry. His team needed him to not die, but at the moment, blood was pushing to the forefront of his mind. They wouldn't understand.
Cellbit stalked off towards where he knew the blue base was, and felt the air get colder as he made his way in the right direction. It wasn't fair that blue got this nice cold island, and the other team got a normal feeling, plentiful jungle island, while they were stuck with a dry hot island that threatened to burn with ease. It wasn't fair that Bad got to just disappear while he was trying to complete his mission, and also trying to not fucking starve. None of this fucking place was fair.
He found his way to the island and began his lengthy search for Bad. He was not going to leave this island without finding him. At this point, he didn't even care if he ran into one of Bads teammates at this point, he just needed to get rid of him. This was his one goal for the day.
It didn't help that his boots crunched in the snow, but so did everyone else's and Cellbit was able to find Bad with relative ease once he followed the right tracks. He was crafting something, and no one else seemed to be in sight right now. The demon's borderline paws made it easy to find him.
He went forward and did his best to knock Bad out, by swinging the flat of his sword to the side of his head. It only made the demon crumple to the ground, groaning in pain, clearly not passed out yet. That wouldn't do. He put a foot on Bads chest and tried to knock him out again by hitting him with the pommel of his blade. Bad simply blinked up at him, and moved his head, before knocking him off of his feet and off of him with his arm. Cellbit hissed, his ears flattening against his head and his tail lashing out behind him. This bitch would not escape again. He latched onto Bads' arm before he could stand up fully, dragging him into the snow on the ground.
"Oh fudge. Cellbits here." He didn't really care that Bad was alerting his teammates that he was here. It was a late alert. He would've thought Bad would say something sooner.
If Cellbit was anymore human, he was pretty sure that he'd feel the burn of the snow against his skin. Hot blooded skin like Bads, burned against it, which was why he wore long sleeves. Maybe that's why this fight was easier than it should've been considering he was wearing no armor, and had just a sword.
"Cellbit, what do you want-" Bad growled, nearly throwing him off again.
He didn't dignify that with a response, he was too far into his own mind. Focused on the fact that his target was right here, his other hand clutched around a rock. Then, he brought it slamming into Bad's head as he tried to escape Cellbit once more. That was the hit that finally made Bad fall unconscious. He stood up for a second before falling down on his knees again, tearing off the gas mask that he had on. He didn't feel any shame in dragging up Bads long sleeves, and plunging his fangs into his wrists and forearms.
Ravenous hunger was finally satiated as he drank. It wasn't like Bad would be able to stop him now, and this would kill Bad. It would complete two missions in one, kill Bad, and fix his hunger. The blood of demons tasted different than Human blood, he'd nearly forgotten that. It had been years since he was able to taste demon blood after all. It tasted different, and Cellbit had to stop himself from biting off any flesh in his hunger. At least any more than the tiny parts he'd accidentally bitten off when first plunging his teeth in. Eating flesh was an addiction he didn't need to start again.
Cellbit didn't really stop feeling hungry, but it was much more manageable by the time Bads body went limp with him having drank so much blood that the man died. Eventually, when there was no more blood from the feel of it, he let go. It was much better to manage and he could still taste the sickly sweet taste of demon blood in his mouth. Even if it tasted different, demons still bled red, and it showed on the snow with the red a sharp contrast to the whites and greens of the island. His tongue ran over his teeth, tasting the remnants of the blood, and he used his hand to wipe away the rest of the blood covering his face. He felt much better than before.
He held a mix of feelings for what he'd just done. On one hand he just fucking murdered someone who he'd once been friends with, and even saw as a mentor with them having gone through one of the worst events of his life together. On the other hand, Bad had ruthlessly killed his team and he held no remorse for what he'd done. Maybe he would've felt better if remnants of Charlies and Jadiens bodies weren't scattered across their lawn.
Cellbit reached into Bads pockets and began to loot what he had. It was good shit that he could take. The team could use this. He'd be pretty pissed if he died on the way back with all this shit he'd taken. He started walking back to the island. He should use the boat. Yeah, that would probably be better. He was in a more stable mental state now, and it felt wonderful.
He turned his comms back on and the conversation the others were having filtered back into his ear. Foolish and Carre had joined back into the call at some point and he could hear Foolish and Baghera discussing something. He began to row back to their island, while he heard Foolish talk about whatever he was currently building for their base relocation. He was going to help once he got back to the island.
"Hey, has anyone seen Cellbit?" Foolish asked eventually. He would've responded himself, but Phil beat him to it.
"Last I saw of him he was going to kill Bad, failed, and then decided to go after him anyways, hoping off Comms to do so. I think he got him actually." Phil answered.
"Oh. I wonder what happened to him."
"Trust me, You didn't need to hear what happened." Cellbit said, announcing his presence to the call. He probably should’ve done that earlier.
"Oh, you're back!" Baghera said, excitedly.
"How are you feeling?" Phil asked.
"I'm feeling better. I'm on my way back right now." Cellbit answered. He wondered if he could make a pit stop at the Green teams island, after all he was about to go by it with the route he’d taken. Roier might not be there though, and if anyone else saw him they’d probably just kill him.
"Alright, good to know." Phil said.
After that they all fell back into senseless chatter that helped keep him occupied as he rowed all the way back to the base. He could feel his communicator buzz in his pocket, no doubt Bad asking him why he'd done that. They all had a mission to kill someone, Bad just happened to be his. That and Bad had to understand how he felt. They all saw how horrible he'd looked when he got out of those crates with the rest of the Brazilians. Blood hunger was something he was used to but sometimes it just hurt worse than usual, and he thought that Bad would understand that. There was actually plenty of motive for him to murder Bad now that he thought about it.
"Cellbit, I have a question." Foolish said, directing the conversation at him now.
"Yeah, what's up?" He said back, finally reaching their island residence.
"So, like, how does your hunger work? Cause I know it's different from ours, but you still eat meat and shit. Does it go away after you die?" Foolish asked.
"Uhm… well…" Cellbit struggled to find the right words to explain that he had indeed basically been slowly starving over the last few days. "Raw meat still has blood in it. It's not as great but it still works. Some others can have their systems designed to be more animal blood inclined and some more human inclined."
There was a reason that he knew that. He'd tried to go the animal blood route, and it hadn't really worked. Not well at least. His system, for better or for worse, was designed to intake human blood.
"And, y'know," Cellbit started to climb up the mountain to get to the valley where they kept their temporary residence, "No. My hunger doesn't really go away after I die. My system works too differently from how yours does. It's just something I live with."
There was silence for a few seconds before Phil spoke, "Y'know this explains why you kept going after Bad a lot more."
Cellbit snorted, "Yes, I was a little hungrier than I think you thought I was."
"You could've asked us for help." Foolish said.
"That's what we told him." Baghera said, a hint of exasperation getting into her voice.
"I know, I know, but the last few days we were all suffering and you guys need to keep your strength up." He sighed.
"So do you." Phil retorted.
"I was fine enough. It just got bad today." Cellbit dismissed it.
"Wait, did you kill Bad by drinking all of his blood?" Carre asked, joining the conversation for the first time in a good thirty minutes.
Cellbit stayed quiet as they all waited for a response, before finally responding what felt like a minute later, "That's irrelevant."
"Christ dude, If you were that hungry we would've helped track someone else down yesterday or some shit." Phil said. He could see the disappointed dad look through his voice. Phil didn't like that he'd done a bit of self sabotage. It was practically a mirror conversation of the one he had with Baghera and Phil earlier.
There were a few more voices of agreement, before he spoke again, "Look, Phil I told you about this, and about what would happen if I drank from one of you today. You'd be dead, because I wouldn't be able to stop. Besides, Bad has better tasting blood." There was only one person with better tasting blood than Bad’s in his opinion.
"This is about better tasting blood?" Foolish asked, incredulously. "Is it because he's a demon?"
"Probably." Cellbit shrugged despite the fact that none of them could see him. He was just glad he'd made it mostly up this clay mountain of hell. "It's sweeter in a way. I don't think I could easily explain it to any of you."
"That's interesting. But, Cellbit in the future, just drink from one of us right before the curfew goes into effect. Then you can get some blood and not die on us or frantically try to hunt someone else down and kill them." Baghera said gently. She was much too kind to him sometimes.
"How did you survive on Quesadilla Island, then?" Foolish asked. He certainly hadn't seemed to be going through troubles with blood withdrawal then. At least he assumed that he looked like he hadn’t been.
"Roier… he would let me drink some before we went to bed, or before he did depending on the day." Cellbit answered in a quieter voice.
Fuck, did he miss his husband already. He hadn't really had the chance to see Roier at all actually since they got here. It was good because then he wouldn't have to kill him. Before then it was Felps, as Pac, as much as he trusted him by now, refused to let him get anywhere near his veins. Which he could understand. He wasn’t close enough to Mike or Forever to even entertain the idea of asking them.
"Oh, that makes sense." Foolish said. He could imagine the guy nodding his head as he said that. "Are you almost here to help me find a good spot for the new base?"
"Yeah, I'm almost back, don't worry." Cellbit said, starting down the rolling hills that would lead to where their spawn was. Alongside the house where they slept on the floor, and the fire pit that was carefully constructed to make sure that they didn't light the entire island on fire. He was pretty sure he was the only one who was constantly worried about that.
"Alright, that's good. I'll see you in a few minutes." Foolish said, quieting down.
He ran back into Phil here, where they had a lovely conversation concerning what might happen on the off chance that they did run into Roier. They all knew there was a very good chance that he wouldn't do anything. Then about what they should do about getting him human blood.
The rest of the day went alright, a few more ambushes and attempted fights. He died to Etoiles at some point and got himself a nasty scar on his leg. It would probably go away at some point, but it looked pretty bad, and Cellbit went ahead and just made his pants into shorts rather than just rolling them up when he needed to. They were pretty much ruined where Etoiles had gotten his calf. He killed his sister at some point.
He had adventured back out onto the rest of the island after a mild mental breakdown after realizing just what he'd done to Bagi, with Phil having to comfort him a little. Then he finished up the new base, installed the elevator and transferred the things that they had in the house down there. Mainly the wool that Phil had finally gotten so they wouldn't have to sleep on the floor, and the globe. He tried to move some of the more precious items, like chests, but everything was so hidden over the island, that he didn't have to move everything. Just the stuff they wanted to be in reach.
They all got informed of the next event that would be happening, which was they would be tasked to protect an egg, and if theirs was the last one standing they would win. He was with Baghera when that announcement was made and he could practically see her pupils dilate. He assumed that the same had happened to both Jaiden and Phil, considering their track record of being avians and getting very attached to any sentient egg they found. Hopefully, these eggs won’t be for everyone’s sake.
He was listening to Foolish talk about the castle he was building to protect the egg they would have to protect, when he got scared. By scared, he meant Roier appeared out of nowhere and he reacted accordingly to someone randomly showing up. He let out a shriek.
Which got a plethora of reactions. A silent laugh from Roier, and concerned voices from everyone else on his team. Roier seemed very amused that he’d managed to scare him.
"Sorry, sorry. One of those stupid fucking fish scared the shit out of me." Cellbit murmured, hearing the relieved laughter before muting himself on the thing before just taking himself out of the call all together. As much as he loved being around his teammates, he didn’t need them to accidentally overhear this conversation.
Roier wouldn't kill him. He didn't need to call for backup.
"Did I surprise you?" Roier murmured in Spanish as he walked up. He wasn't wearing armor, and he had no weapon. Cellbit could relax with him. The two had both heard each other’s language enough to speak it around the other with ease.
"Maybe just a little." He murmured in Portuguese, as Roier reached up and scratched behind his ears, eliciting a purr from in his chest. It had been a while since he could feel himself relax like this. It was a type of comfort that only his husband could bring.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to, Gatinho." Roier said, pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
"It's alright. What are you doing here?" Cellbit asked, wrapping his arms around Roiers’ middle. Roier put his arms around his neck and they rested their foreheads on each other. He enjoyed just holding onto his husband. He looked into Roiers eyes, seeing that they seemed like they'd experienced so many things since they last saw each other. Which was fair, so much had happened since they last saw each other.
"I came to make sure you were okay. You killed some people today." Roier said, both of them still talking in quiet voices. They didn’t need to alert any of the mobs around with the fact that night had fallen a good few hours ago.
"I did."
"You killed someone on my team."
"I did."
"And I don't care. Does that make me a bad teammate?"
"Maybe, but I already feel bad because it was Bagi." Cellbit said. Parts of him were worried about his loosening morals considering he’d killed his sister. Yet, he didn't care that he killed either because his team and Roier were the only people he could trust. It, regrettably, was better to kill before someone killed him.
"Y'know, we could've left before. The first day, before they put the barriers up."
"We could've, yeah. Y'know they put those up because of Phil?"
"Did they? What did he do?"
"He went all the way out in his boat, by accident, and he found shipwrecks. Admins didn't like that he looted them." He said, moving ever minutely closer to Roier. It didn't really do anything because they were virtually as close as they could be, so it was really just Cellbit holding onto him tighter.
He didn't know if it was possible to just meld together because they were so close, but if it was, the two of them would probably be a puddle of water on the floor. He would be fine with being a puddle on the floor with Roier.
Cellbit closed his eyes, just let himself be. Roier moved his hand again and reached from behind his head to scratch at his ears, pulling more purrs from his chest. He loved his husband so much. He moved his head so it was resting on Roiers shoulder and the man could reach his ears easier. It made him level with his husband's neck, something that was very enticing. It would be so easy to just take a nibble. He was still hungry and while it was nowhere near as horrible as before he still had that ache for blood in his stomach.
"Do you need to drink, Gatinho?" Roier asked, as Cellbit opened his eyes.
"No," He murmured, knowing that Roier could feel the fact that he'd playfully nipped at his shoulder. His husband knew that his fangs were out.
"Have you drunk anything?" Roier asked.
"This morning. When I killed Bad." He said, moving around so his face was facing Roiers neck. He knew it was only a matter of seconds before Roier told him to drink something from him, even if he refused. It was an enticing thought, but he didn’t want to risk Roiers life by biting his neck.
"I’m aware. I saw that. I mean since then. I know you're still hungry." Roier said, probably feeling the fact that his head shifted. He also didn't want to let go of Roier, but biting his neck would be a hit or miss as to if he hit an important vein. Roier had also seen him kill Bad. That was something he wasn’t sure how to feel about.
"I'll hit something." He murmured.
"No you won't. It's fine." Roier said, dismissing his concerns. The man next to him was one of the only ones he never wanted to hurt, and yet he moved back the collar of his husband's shirt with his mouth, and bit down into the junction of his shoulder and neck. His husband was too tempting sometimes, and he was nothing if not weak for him.
Roier didn't taste as sweet as Bad, but god did he taste addicting. He tasted the best to him, but maybe that was because they were married. Maybe it was just his blood type but it was hard to tear away some days. He did force himself to stop after what felt like a pint of blood had gone into his stomach, because he didn’t want to harm him. That was enough for him, at least until tomorrow. Sometimes Roier would let him drink more, but his husband needed all the strength he could get.
He could still smell the blood of the wound, and while it had begun to heal because Cellbit had removed his fangs, there was still blood slowly dripping out of the wound. So, instead he kissed Roier to distract himself from the smell. Nothing serious, just being there with his husband was good enough for him. Roier pulled out of the kiss, and rested his forehead on his again.
"Your blood is addictive, guapito." Cellbit murmured.
"I know, you've told me before." Roier said, smiling. He could've kissed him again, but he could feel his communicator buzz in his pocket. That was the worst timing ever.
He closed his eyes and sighed, as Roier laughed at him. He reached into his pocket as Roier still placed another kiss on the edge of his mouth. He looked at his communicator and saw it was a message in the chat for his team. They were getting worried. Which was fair.
Philza: Cellbit where'd you go, are you alright?
He texted back a little message before slipping it back into his pocket. He could be back to his team soon. He just needed to be with his husband for a little longer. He needed to be around him for a few moments, a few more minutes to just feel real again. As real as he felt when killing people and not being around his husband.
He went to kiss Roier again, and heard the sound of a request for him to join the voice chat sound from the stupid MDA thing they'd all gotten. He groaned and moved his head to rest on Roiers other shoulder, as the other one was bit.
"I think your team wants you back." Roier laughed.
"Yes, but I'm with you right now." Cellbit murmured.
"Curfews about to be set anyways. You should get back." Roier said, running his hand over Cellbits ears. His tail lashed a few times in disappointment. He wanted to be with Roier right now. It hadn't been that long. He needed more time to be with his husband. They probably wouldn't be able to see each other again.
"It hasn't been long enough though." He murmured. He wished they had more time.
"It's been long enough. We got to see each other at least a little, Gatinho." Roier murmured. Leave it up to Roier to make everything as positive as possible. Which he didn't mind. It was just that this island was hell, and he wanted a reprieve from thinking about it all. He wanted to just exist with his husband. Was that too much to ask?
He got a buzz from the MDA, indicating that they'd all gotten a message, as Roier had gotten a notification as well. It was a server wide message then.
"Those who are not on their designated islands by curfew will be killed, and forcefully brought back." Roier murmured. While they were technically on an island right now, it definitely wasn't Roiers' and he didn't fancy his husband getting murdered by something neither of them could see.
"How long does it take for you to get back?" He asked.
"About fifteen minutes. I don't have to go around the entire main island." Roier murmured.
"How much time until curfew?"
"About thirty minutes." Roier answered, "But I should get going."
"Five more minutes." He said, moving his face so it was in front of Roiers again instead of hiding in his shoulder. He had the pitiful expression that he would get when Cellbit started overworking himself and would beg him to go to bed, just so he could cuddle with him. Oh how Cellbit longed to sleep next to his husband again. He was so used to having another warm body in bed with him, while he had the rest of his team, it felt different.
Roier kissed him once more before letting go, and Cellbit groaned, following after him. Not to stop him but to at least walk him to his boat because he could be kind. He could be wonderful to his husband who was literally risking his life by being here. Nothing could stop him from being loving and caring towards his husband.
"Hey, uhm, maybe I can be on your island tomorrow? Just… earlier obviously." Cellbit murmured. They didn't have enough time with each other today. He needed time to be around his husband. To make sure his husband felt loved.
"They'll make the curfew sooner if you do that." Roier chided.
"I don't think you understand what I would do for you, guapito." He said, as Roier reached the ocean banks, placing down a boat before turning back to him.
"Oh, believe me. I think I can guess." Roier smiled, softly kissing him one last time before getting into the boat and sailing away. It would've been comedic if his heart didn't feel like it was breaking into two.
He wanted Roier to stay here, to join their silly dynamic, and be on his team. To be with him and everyone he cared about. He wished Roier would stay but with the new rule in effect, that would kill him. Cellbit wasn't sure if he could go two weeks without seeing his husband, because seeing him in daylight would mean having to kill him. This place was not kind to anyone.
Cellbit stared off into the distance, as if waiting for him to come back when he knew that he wouldn't. Finally, he looked away and opened up his communicator, sending Roier a quick message telling him to tell him when he got back to his island, so he knew that he was safe. Then he finally responded to the messages in the group chat asking him if he was on the island.
He was close enough that it didn't matter if he joined the call. Which didn't matter anyways because he could see torchlight up on the hills, looking down at his own presumably. Someone had seen him with Roier.
Cellbit climbed up the hill and stood next to Phil who had been there for who knows how long. He looked at peace with why Cellbit hadn't been responding. Like he was okay with it.
"So, you don't need any more right now?" Phil asked.
"No, not until tomorrow night probably." He said in English, looking away from Phils gaze. He didn't need to see the expression that seemed to ask why someone else was here. Not that Phil seemed particularly worried about it.
"He won't hurt you, right?" Phil asked.
"He trusts me to drink from basically his neck, if he does, I'd be surprised." He wouldn't just be surprised. Hell, Cellbit would probably be heartbroken. He would probably stop doing things for the rest of the event or he'd just snap and start killing everyone. There were two options he'd have to choose from if Roier hurt him.
"Well, let's hope everyone else doesn't ask questions. You'll be under a lot of scrutiny. I know I didn't see anything." Phil murmured, turning away from the edge of the hill and walking back to where the elevator for their base was. The newly renovated base that would be furnished soon. They would be safe down there and it was spacious enough that it wouldn't fuck with his teammates instincts to be in open air.
"Thank you." Cellbit whispered. He was mostly thanking Phil for being willing to overlook Roier showing up on their island with no warning and then basically seeing Cellbit drink blood from Roiers neck. Which was probably not fun to watch.
"You've still got some blood on your face by the way. I'd get rid of that if you don't want them to ask questions." Phil said.
He took the opportunity to wipe most of it off with his hand. Anything that had dried, he could play off as normal and still there from one of his previous kills today. They'd all believe that at this point.
He flicked his tail behind him as they approached the bunker, and took a deep breath as they stepped into the elevator going down almost immediately. They popped out in the bunker, with torch light glimmering so they all could see. Everyone was here except for him and Phil, even Slime who he hadn't really seen today.
They all smiled at him when he walked in, and he smiled back. This place was hell, but at least they all made it slightly more bearable.
"Cellbit, glad your back. We gotta tell you something!" Charlie laughed over something he knew nothing about.
"Oh Jesus. You're gonna love this." Phil cackled. Everyone else seemed to be in various states of trying not to laugh.
Cellbit let his grin stretch out as he sat down next to his friends. Today had been a good day overall, and they were all prepared to make it better.
A shitty day ending well was not something that happened in this godforsaken hellplace, yet Charlie made him laugh with jokes, Jaiden told horrible stories that left them all dying of laughter, and Baghera had made a large sleeping area so none of them would have to sleep on the floor. He'd even gotten the confirmation from Roier that he'd made it back in time. All in all, the day was ending well.
Cellbit crawled into his bed with the events of the day running over his mind, falling asleep to the memories of finally having his husband in his arms again.
