    “Yer right bonnie, eh?” Ghost just laughed, reaching up to take Soap’s hand in his. He brought it to his lips, pressing them softly to the back of his hand.

     

    “Didn’t I tell you? Quite the opposite.” Soap smiled at him, a sleepy grin. It warmed Ghost, settled the fear pacing circles in his chest a little.

     

    “You scared me.” It came out more quiet than intended, a confession. Soap’s expression shifted, a mix of guilt and frustration and something much too familiar, a word Ghost didn’t dare even think.
