Work Text:

Namjoon grabbed a cluster of plastic cups off the kitchen counter, shoving them into a garbage bag. The buzz of alcohol from the night had almost worn off, leaving him with a warm haze of exhaustion and calm. He slowly surveyed the state of his apartment.

The party had been a success, to say the least. The room had been filled to the brim with people, laughter, and glitter. So much glitter. New Years was something bittersweet for Namjoon. On the one hand, he was still riding the holiday rush and loved having people over for a party. He threw amazing parties, if he did say so himself. On the other hand, it was a reminder of another year gone by.

This year had been, by far, one of the best for Namjoon. His last New Year’s resolution had been to focus on himself and not let romance control his life. Needless to say that didn’t happen once he met Kim Seokjin.

Something clicked when the two met. Describing it that way made it sound less miraculous than it was, but it’s the only description that works. Namjoon knew from the first moment of talking to Seokjin he would fall in love with him. He did. Seokjin says he fell in love with Namjoon at first sight, but that may be an over exaggeration.

Humming softly to himself, Namjoon tied up the garbage bag and rested it next to the door to his apartment. He was too tired to take it out now, plus it was freezing outside. He’d do it tomorrow.

Turning off the lights in the kitchen, Namjoon opened the door to his bedroom.

“Joon?”

“Hi, love, it’s me. Did I wake you?”

“No, I was waiting for you to come to bed,”

Namjoon smiled, leaning down to plant a kiss on Seokjins forehead. He turned to change into his pajamas when he felt a hand wrap around his wrist.

“Where are you going?”
Namjoon could hear the pout in his voice.

“To change into my pajamas,”

“Can’t you just stay with me?”

Namjoon laughed softly.
“Baby, I’m going to be five seconds,”

“That’s five seconds too many,” was Seokjins logical reply.

Namjoon leaned down again, this time placing a kiss on Seokjins nose.
“I won’t take long, ok?”

“Fine,” Seokjin sighed, releasing Namjoon from his grasp.

After changing into shorts and a t-shirt, Namjoon crawled into bed next to Seokjin, wrapping his arms around his waist.

“We throw great parties,” Seokjin remarked quietly.

“Mmm,” Namjoon hummed. “I’d have to agree,”

The pair fell silent for a moment.

“Joon?”

“Yes?”

“I love you,”

Namjoon glowed. He’d heard the words many times, and they never failed to fill him with immense amounts of joy.

“I love you more,”

There was a pause. Then a sniffle.

“Jin?”

“Yeah?”

“Are you crying?”

“..maybe,”

Namjoon ‘awed’ softly, pulling Seokjin closer to him.

“What’s wrong?”

Pause.
Sniff.

“I just love you so much,” Seokjin replied turning to face Namjoon. Both of them rested their heads on one pillow, their faces inches apart.

“And this makes you sad because?”

“Because I was just thinking about this time last year when I didn’t have you and I don’t know how I survived without you and I never want you to leave me,” Seokjins reply spilled out in a rush of emotion, his eyes finding Namjoons in the dark.

Namjoon reached up to wipe the tears from Seokjins eyes. He moved his head close enough to his that their foreheads were touching.

“Jin,” Namjoon began quietly but firmly. “I’m never going to leave you,”

Seokjins breath hitched in his throat.
“Ever?”

“Ever,”

Seokjin rested his head on Namjoons chest, feeling his arms pull him in.

“We can have this party every single year, we can clean up the candles and bottles together, we can do anything you want,” Namjoon swore.

“I’ll be there if you’re the toast of the town, or if you strike out and you’re crawling home. You don’t need to think about a life without me; because that’s never going to happen,”

Seokjin smiled into the material of Namjoons t-shirt.
“You should put that on your New Year’s resolutions,” he mumbled sleepily.

“I only had one this year,” Namjoon said with a small yawn.

“Oh yeah? And what’s that,”

“I want to move in with the love of my life,”

Seokjins eyes widened as he pulled back to look at his boyfriend.

“Really?” He asked breathlessly.

“Really,” Namjoon replied. “I’d like to wake up with you every morning and go to sleep with you every night. If you want, of course,”

Seokjin was overcome with so much love in that moment, an amount of love he never knew was possible.

“Yes,” he said simply, burying himself back into Namjoons chest. No other words were needed.

They lay there together for a number of minutes, reveling in the joy of knowing they were with the person they had been waiting for all their lives.

“Joon?”

“Yes?”

“Thank you,”

“For?”

“Being you,”

“Well, thank you,”

“For?”

“Loving me,”
