Especially with the stress and deep thought David found himself with the case, he flinched as his phone buzzed from its place under his pillow. But David could accept this. Any distraction from reevaluating cases was a blessing. At least it would’ve been if it hadn’t been a message from Barry himself. He did a double take in reading the name that introduced the message. This isn’t happening. Not after years of suffering. Years of attempting to reintegrate. Years of what was destined to be a terribly difficult time.
Seven years to be clear. Seven years since being reunited with his family. David could almost feel himself become queasy as he starts to debate what Barry could want. He couldn’t hold himself back, he had to read the message. David knew, even if his guilt made him ignore it for the night, he wouldn’t be able to keep himself away from rediscovering what the man’s life had become. It was simple, blunt, but not any less surprising.
‘My name is Barry Milland. I hope this is David Loki. My mom will die soon. Please meet me.’
