Chapter Text
Ellie woke up to her alarm blasting in her ear. She lazily rolled over and slapped her hand atop of her alarm to shut it up. “Fuck…” She clawed at her face as memories of last night’s IT expedition refilled her brain. She slowly remembered everything from the past few weeks as she regained complete consciousness. She suddenly had a violent yearning to see her friends, well, at least one specific ‘friend’ of hers. Riley. She had a burst of energy just at the thought of seeing Riley and quickly threw on a yellow polo and red shorts. She had some below-the-knee socks with two red stripes at the top and some brown loafers.
“Ellie, did you take your meds?” Sonia said in the most whiny and insufferable voice that Ellie would ever have to bear. “Yes, I did, mom.” Sonia’s head snapped around to face Ellie. “Mom? Not momma? Do you not love me as your momma anymore?” Ellie sighed at her mother’s gaslighting. “Sorry, momma.” She clenched her fists but kept her calm. “I’m going to go visit Billie.” Ellie lied through her teeth so she could leave the house. “Remember to not touch their freshly cut grass, you’ll have an allergic reaction. Oh- and make sure not to have too much sugar or carbs. You’re so frail that you’ll get si-” Before Sonia could finish her sentence Ellie slammed the front door shut and hopped onto her bike. She pedaled as quickly as she could down to Riley’s house and knocked on her door. Maggie answered. “Riley’s upstairs, darling.” Ellie thanked her and rushed upstairs, bursting through the door. Riley groggily sat up, she then proceeded to perk up at the sight of Ellie. “Ellie spaghetti~! Were you really that eager to se-” Ellie shushed Riley with a slight tint of red to her face. “Shut up, dumbass. At least I’m dressed well.” Riley giggled and retorted with a snarky remark. “At least I don’t dress up for someone who hasn’t even woken up yet.” Ellie huffed and crossed her arms. Riley burst out laughing as she normally does and stood up and grabbed some clothes to change into while she went to the restroom. Ellie sighed and belly flopped onto Riley’s bed. Riley went to the restroom and came out in a blue Hawaiian shirt with flowers and some jean shorts. She posed like a model jokingly and Ellie scoffed. “That Hawaiian shirt is so tacky.” Even though Ellie said it looked tacky, she of course thought that Riley was the most gorgeous woman on Earth. Riley on the other hand, had the most dorky type of love for Ellie. She would giggle about her at night and would get all fidgety while around her. She would jump around in her room while listening to sappy romance music and imagining them slow dancing to the music. “Anyways, can we go to the quarry? Like not to jump in but just to y’know, hang out?” Ellie asked sheepishly, especially since she didn’t ask to invite the others. “Should we invite the others?” Riley turned around and raised an eyebrow as she spoke. “Uhm…yeah, that works.” Ellie clearly was opposed to the idea since she wanted some alone time with Riley. Now we could go the route of Riley noticing, but Riley’s an oblivious fuck, so she just ran down to her home phone and dialed Billie’s number.
At the quarry, everyone was in white full body swimsuits, but Ellie had a red sunguard on. “Well, are you going to jump in?” Bennett asked from behind the 5 girls. His red hair looked lovely in the sun. He giggled and jumped down into the quarry, all 5 girls gasping in unison. “Holy shit!” Riley exclaimed. “The water….ew.” Ellie suddenly thought of all the germs and other bacteria in the water and felt her throat close up. She ran over to her bag, but no one else noticed. Billie jumped in first, then Bella, then Stacy, but Riley noticed something was off. She turned around and saw Ellie with her inhaler and walked over to her. “What set you off this time, Ellie Spaghetti?” Riley was using humor to cope again. Ellie noticed this and rolled her eyes, she was slightly annoyed by this nowadays. “Just the fuckin bacteria.” Ellie took one more puff of her inhaler and stood up. Riley felt terrible but didn’t know how to properly handle this situation since his parents never taught her empathy. Riley grabbed Ellie’s hand and pulled her over to the edge of the cliff and began counting down. “Riley-!” She pulled Ellie down into the water, as they fell Riley laughed. Ellie on the other hand screamed. The water splashed around them as they splat against the water. Riley pulled Ellie up by the waist and spun her around. Ellie flailed and attempted to get down. Everyone laughed and then continued splashing each other while Ellie and Riley had their little moment.
