Work Text:

Some people used to think chloe and shara were a #adorbs couple. Either that or they got harassed in the corridors but these days everyone has the same opinion.

Shara wheeler and Chloe green are the most annoying couple in the school.

it’s the pda that tips some classmates over the cute to over the top line or for others it’s the Instagram stories. Some people got tired of the giggling in English and others the fact that they never saw shara at parties anymore. But however it happened every student at willow grove or at least all of the senior class are done with Chloe and sharas relationship.

For this reason no one is particularly shocked to see that after a school musical performance Chloe pulls shara out of the front row and onto the stage. No is shocked when they have a big dramatic movie kiss either in fact instead of what might’ve been wolf whistles six months ago groans fill the room. No what shocks everyone is that when chloe reaches for her microphone she doesn’t use it to tell the audience how amazing shara is as would be the usual for all performances since the two got together.

No instead when chloe opens her mouth she starts to sing. Chloe has a wide range and so has no problems imitating a man’s voice when she begins singing elvis’s ‘can’t help falling in love’. The lyrics sound beautiful coming out of chloes mouth and shara swoons at her as she sings.

“Falling in love with you” chloe sings and for the first time in months awwws fill the room as the school are once again convinced of their true love “like a river flows” Chloe lifts sharas hand which she’s holding and twirls her “darling so it goes” she plants a kiss on sharas cheek before the next line “some things are meant to be” at this she gestures between the two of them “take my hand” she holds the other one out and shara takes it “take my whole life too” she pulls them together and begins to dance.

The steps they take around the stage as the school or at least the theatre loving part of it watch with benji cheering them on (their only remaining fan) from the sidelines are beautiful it’s easy to get tired of a relationship like theirs but this dance shows the students that some things really are “meant to be” chloes smile and the shine in her eyes are true embodiments of happiness as a single tear works it’s way down sharas cheek Chloe wipes it off as she sings the last line “for I can’t help” one final twirl “falling in love with you” one last smile a final dip into
Their last kiss and that’s it. A wrap on chloe and sharas time at willow grove and on all of the other students chance to get a glimpse of what love is like. Chloe couldn’t think of a better way for it to end as she pulls away from shara and waves a hand to the crowd before running off. Off the stage and out of their lives forever. It’s funny really these kids have known each other since they were five and even chloe has been around for years now and that’s it the end of their time together it feels like nothing.

Notes:

It’s me again. Tbh I thought I was done writing at least for today but i’ve decided My goal is to get this fandom to 35 fics. It will take four more works but I think I can do it. Anyway I’m still not sure this is them as they definitely aren’t the pda, lovey dovey couple i’ve portrayed them as here but I think it’s a sweet idea of what could’ve been. I like to think of this as what chloe would think about if she wondered what their relationship would’ve been like if it had been like any normal couple and if willow grove was like any normal school. Anyway I’d like to end this by saying im British so sorry if their are inconsistencies as I’m trying to write in a more American way.
