Nancy: call me when you get this
Nancy: don’t freak out, he’s okHis vision instantly goes inky black and static fills his ears in a tidal wave. Nightmarish images of TK’s dead body flood Carlos’ imagination all at once. The ambulance was hit with TK inside. He was attacked by another patient – stabbed. Shot. Another kidnapping? Another coma? His hands are shaking. He immediately presses Nancy’s name, picking up on the third ring.
“Nancy?” He hopes she can’t hear the tremble in his voice over the phone.
“Hey. He’s totally fine, I swear. A patient was a little…” She trails off. “Well, we’re at St. Josephs, he told me to call you, but he also wanted me to stress that he’s fine.”
“I’m fine!” TK faintly yells in the background, Carlos can hear a slight smile in his voice and Nancy laughs. Carlos can’t bring himself to feel any relief. “Tell him to breathe.”
