Capitano laid by the bedside in silence, unsure of what to say.
The boy before him had left for Fontaine in search of comfort and vacation, yet here he was, recovering from injury. Capitano couldn’t decide whether the boy was merely drawn to destruction or if he was a magnet for it himself.
Capitano chuckled to himself and smoothed the boy’s hair back to see his face. This was probably the most sleep he had gotten in days based on the dark circles beneath his eyes.
“Whatever will I do with you… I let you out of my sight for a few months and you come back in this state.”
Childe coughed, startling Capitano.
“Captain..?”
The senior harbinger didn’t respond, making the boy open his eyes with a weak smirk.
“Y’know, with all the time you spend reading, I’d assume you’d be more familiar with fairy tales.”
Capitano stared at him, clearly confused at what he meant. Childe gives his best attempt at a shrug.
“If you want a sleeping beauty to wake up, you have to give a true love’s kiss. Pretty standard stuff.”
Capitano snorts. He opts for a more practical pat on the shoulder.
“Good to know you’re still the same rascal you were before, Tartaglia. I’ll leave you to your rest.”
