Evan X Cassidy

Summary:

Evan and Cassidy; best friends forever.

Forever…?

Forever!

Notes:

A probably like 3-4 page Evan x Cassidy Story, made a few tweaks and changes around the lore and timing of everything for the fun of it and creative expression

Unless it’s explaining creative writing choices I don’t actually do much author note stuff

For posting schedules? I don’t really have one, but I post chapters usually in pairs so people can enjoy more than 1 chapter every like month or so.

Since this book is only planned to be 3-4 chapters idk? The first and second chapter are being posted at the same time and I’ll finish the third and if there’s anything I want to add it’ll come with a 4th. (Don’t get your hopes up for a 4th chapter)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Cassidy, a decently sized girl walked through her middle school hallway slowly on her way to her math class. she bore her heavy standard black bag on her back, carrying it was always easy to her, just really painful for her back once she took it off. She looked down behind her.

Yup, he’s still there.

Evan Afton, her best, and only friend. She met him at the relatively newly opened Fredbear Family Diner 2 years ago. Seeing him being tormented by his older brother was a pitying sight, tears streaming down his face as he was constantly harassed by the masked tweens. The moment they left she went up to him. At this time she was still a very kind child. The type to take sympathy when she stepped on a snail shell, or accidentally flicked an ant too hard off her body.

The moment she got too close he immediately tried to back away, obviously scared. She couldn’t blame him, Cassidy’s resting face isn’t an inviting one at all.

“Hey Hey? It’s okay, I’m here to help you…I saw what was happening and I thought you may be kind of lonely?”

“…….h-hi”

He replied in the middle of quiet sobs. She really now took pity on him.

“My name is Cassidy! Cassidy Brooks, what’s your name?”

“My name… m-my name is E-Evan….Ev-Evan Afton..”

“Evan hm? I kinda like that name. Come with me I’ll take you somewhere pretty cool that I saw! It’s alone and everything! Nobody can bother you there!” Cassidy said excitedly

“Ah-alright!” Evan replied, his tears start in to dry up around his eyes and he stopped crying as much. He stood up and looked up at her and held onto her sleeve for comfort.

He was decently shorter than her, his hair a messy brown mop just sitting atop his head. He was a tad bit cute as he looked at her with eyes pleading for her to save him. To Evan, Cassidy looked like some heroic princess that came to his rescue. He didn’t really want to question much where she came from, he just wanted this Cassidy person to help him, save him from his dickhead older brother, bring him away from the populated diner.

He wasn’t going to admit he knew almost the whole layout of the building. He could tell she didn’t know who actually owned the diner, and he just wanted a new friend besides his plushie. He’d always trust Fredbear, but even at times Fredbear could scare him if the doll talked to him randomly.

Cassidy strutted pridefully compared to Evan’s quiet, wimpy walk, leading him behind the stage to an unlit room, only getting light from the main entrance through the doorway. “Cassidy..it says only employees beyond this point…” “that’s fine! We’re totally employees right Evan?” “R-right!” He giggled. A small  pang went ringing in Cassidy’s

She pulled Evan against one of the walls of the decently dark room and sat with him, playing finger games and telling jokes to each other and laughing quietly  to not get the attention of the workers.

“Cassidy! I won that and you know it! In taps 4 + 1 is 5, you can’t just split it up to save yourself!”

“Yes I can! Wanna know why? Because I say I can! so I can Ev! Don’t be stupid about the rules!”

Through all their talking Evan got used to Cassidy’s ruthless way of talking, her swear words, obnoxious insults, and her barking voice, he liked it all. It was extra entertainment for him, he’s never met someone close to his age so loose with their mouth! He doesn’t even get to say the small words, like crap, and then there’s Cassidy who’s said at least 8 curse words in each game of taps they played.

“Ugh! Fuck taps whatever! You win I guess…”

“Ha! I knew you would admit it! I want to play one more g-game!”

“..fine..but this time you actually have to make a bet on it! If you win we become friends, if i win, you have to admit I didn’t lose that taps game.” Cassidy said while clasping both his hands and holding them up to their mouths.

“I-I accept that b-b-bet!” Evan replied with a determined look in his eyes.

He won. Cassidy may have let him win, but he won regardless and that’s all that mattered to him.

“I-I won! We’re now best friends! I have a-a best friend now!” He jumped up excitedly raising his hands to the sky and then bringing them down and embracing Cassidy into a large hug-

———

“Cass…earth to Cassie? Cassidy?” Evan said, interrupting her entire flashback of their meeting. “Yes Ev? What’s up buddy?” “we’re still going out to Fredbear’s today right?”

“Of course! Why wouldn’t we!”

“I was just ma-making sure..and again if you yell at the teachers your parents will have to ground you..”

“And I’ll just break out again! Between me and 6 other siblings there’s no way I’m getting caught before I make it out. It’s only jumping out of a window. I could even teach you how to do it!”

“Where would you even go though…..your parents would be so mad at you..”

“Hmm-“ a small giggle leaving her mouth “I’ll sneak right into your house and we can have another sleep over Ev!”

“You’re not going to break my window right?” Evan said back, laughing quietly

“Heh, only if you open it for me.”

Almost at the classroom, the teacher peaked her old and nasty head out, scorched with anger as…well it was unsuprisigly quite often the teacher and Cassidy didn’t get along, but Evan? He was a good kid. That’s what set off the teacher more than anything, not only kids not obeying the rules of the school, but a troublemaker like Cassidy tempting Evan to get on her level!

“EVAN AFTON, CASSIDY BROOKS! GET INTO CLASS RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT!

“O-oh I-I-I guess we’re-re in t-trouble C-Cass… M-maybe Fredbears can happen tomorrow…” Evan said, small balls of tears closing at his eyes from the teacher’s tone. It reminded him of Micheal’s. His brows furrowed upwards, obviously dejected and scared from the fact he’d be in trouble with his mom for days on end, and that he wouldn’t see Cassidy later today either.

“Hey Ev? Do you wanna play tag?~”Cassidy whispered into his ear.

“Y-you y-y-you a-aren’t t-thinking about that ri-right?”

“3….2….GO!”  Cassidy yelled, grabbing Evan by the arm and running at full speed down the hallway in the opposite direction, towards the 2nd stairwell of the middle school. Evan barley able to keep up as his wimpy stamina couldn’t possibly match with Cassidy’s. Hell, it was more like she was dragging his clumsy ass along until they reached the stairs.

“Cmon! We’re going to the Secret Place!” Cassidy yelled up at him, already halfway down the stairwell.

Whenever Cassidy wouldn’t go to class because a student annoyed her, she was in trouble for getting into a fight, or she was sad and needed comfort, she would place a note into Evan’s bag reading “Secret Place”, or would tell him when they saw each other at lunch or in the halls. Evan would sometimes go to class as he tried to stay a good student and ask to use the bathroom and leave to go find Cassidy, if not leaving first thing he got notice.

The “secret place” was only the auditorium, there were no cameras down there, nor were there any cameras even past the exit door, and it was already incredibly easy to pass the exit doors and go down the stairs to the auditorium. The reason it being so ‘Secret’ was that the Auditorium was always locked. Nobody could go in it, so it’s not like the school thought some 12 and 11 year olds could possibly manage to get in there. Except; Cassidy worked in mysterious ways. Being a ‘troublemaker’ really gets you places according to her.

Climbing down the stairs hastily they reach the auditorium and Cassidy picks the lock with relative ease, running into the dark spacious room and closing the door behind them.

Evan rummaging through his bag and bringing out his Fredbear designed flashlight, a gift from his dad for his 10th birthday.

With a long sigh of relief Cassidy begins to speak; “no people to deal with, only you and me!” stretching herself, her pitch black pig tails moving with her body.

“I really I-I- I hope we don’t get into trouble Cass!”

“Hey? It’s gonna be okay little buddy! We just have to spend an hour or 2 down here, we just waste some time, and then sneak out!”

“What sh-should we do this time?”

“Drawing competition!”

“But you always win Cass…I’m starting to believe you just draw things really cool in advance…”

“I’m honored you think I draw things nicely at least?~” She replies, a signature prideful smile on her face.

“How about we play superheros?”

“Hmmmm…okay, buuuuuut I want to be superhero this time instead of the villain. My step brother always makes me play villain to the point it’s so boring…”

“You do play a good villain though Cass.” Evan said, lightly teasing her.

“That’s not a compliment and you know it!” She exclaimed, retaliating by pulling on his squishy reddening cheek.

“Haha, im sorry im s-sorry let go!”he whined between chuckles.

“I wonder what my v-villain name would be…?”

“Make one little buddy! I’m going to be some kick-ass alien ghost thing!”

Time passes slowly as both Evan and Cassidy get in character for their super hero and super villain roles. Cassidy’s superhero plan coming into play as she runs all the way to the end of the auditorium and gets ready to leap over chairs and do something cool to impress him!

impress him? …eh whatever! Of course she would want to impress him, he should know by now that her level of ‘cool’ is unmatched!

“You villain! I shall stop you!”

“Y-You cannot stop me! I-I; C.C w-will destroy the e-ear-earth this time!”

A giggle escaping her lips, “C.C? What kind of supervillain name is that Ev?”

“I-it stands for Crying Child…he was bullied as a kid and got strong and put his crying to the past! It reminds him of how…weak he was when he was younger..”

She didn’t say it out loud, but she could obviously tell not only from his speech but his quite depressing explanation that “C.C”, was his insecurities coming to light…

“The Crying Child will win this time!” Evan exclaims, trying his best to sound as prideful as Cassidy whenever she won a game.

“No you won’t! The Vengeful Spirit will stop you!”

“Vengeful Spirit?”

“Yeah! I was murdered by boredom in school because I didn’t have my best friend! So I make it my goal to save all kinds from boredom by kicking villian butt with my own powers!” She giggled out, inspired by Evan’s sad name even though he was villain, so she was going to use a mean sounding name as a hero!

“Y-you won’t get in the way this time!” Evan protested, obviously inspired by Cassidy’s dedication to the role.

Seconds, turning to minutes, turning to hours as the pair played with each other in their hero and villain persona fake fighting and tackling each other on the auditorium stage.

Breathless and tired, the pair laid on each other as Cassidy won their tussle, “it’s over C.C! You put up a good fight but I, The Vengeful Spirit have won!”

“Nooooooo! Bleghhh bleeeerhhh!” Evan yelled out, trying his best to imitate dying sounds as Cassidy fake stabbed his character in the eye trying to kill him.

Both of them turning into a laughing mess,

“Cassidy! You stabbed me!”

“Duhhhh! You were trying to give kids more homework! There’s no way I could let a villain like you stay alive! Plus I’m a “vengeful spirit” remember? I died from boredom in school, you were my arch-nemesis from the beginning!”

Evan laughing even harder opened his eyes to look into Cassidy’s dark, soulless  looking circles , they were…special to him. Cassidy never looked like a kind girl, she never bothered to act like one either, she only marched to the beat of her own drum. Everyone else could flip right off! It was so fun to follow her march though, she was confident, and always herself no matter what. Her eyes resembled that too, a full black eye, colors nowhere, you couldn’t change her eye colors no matter how much you tried to! She would never change, she’d always be fun.

“Cassidy…you and I will always be friends forever right?”

Evan asked, his voice a little nervous and shaky but filled with emotion.

“Forever and always! Id have it no other way buddy!” Cassidy replied, not even waiting a heartbeat’s worth of time.

“We’ll never be apart right!?” Evan asked, even happier and louder and Cassidy’s smile never left answering his question.

“We’ll be as attached as u are with your Fredbear! If your Brother or anyone is giving you a hard time call out my name and I’ll be right there. Just for you~”

“I-I-I like-like you Cassie!”

“O-oh-ahhh- I- I like-like you too..”

Both of them incredibly flushed, they were fully aware they were too young to understand a proper relationship? They barley even know what boyfriend and girlfriend looked like, dating was so far off the table until they grew up more, but for now? They’ve gone passed best friends, not yet dating, but so much more important to each other than just best friends.

Evan raised his head closer to Cassidy’s red flushed face, placing an Inexperienced and sloppy peck onto her cheek, trying to imitate what he sees from his dad and mom when dad finally comes home from the diner.

“..ah..AHHH” she screamed out as a flustered mess, getting up off of Evan and holding her had on her cheek as her entire body went red.

As much as she was freaking out as she apparently couldn’t take compliments, Evan saw a smile rise from ear to ear on her face.

“Forever and always!”

“C-Cassidy…h-help me…I’m scared-

———

The hospital is a cold place.

It’s gloomy. The gray walls somehow looks sadder than rain clouds.

The whole building reeks of death. Disappointment. Tears.

No way anything happy could come from this rotten place.

If only Micheal wasn’t a stupid fucking teenager.

Evan lied down on his hospital bed.

He didn’t move. not a twitch. not a smile.

The doctors said he was comatose.

Like hell she knew what that even meant.

There was blood everywhere. Mr. Afton’s purple shirt and pale skin was blood stained.

He looked dazed. As if he couldn’t believe where he was at.

Get with the fucking program old man.

Evan’s brother….Micheal looked traumatized. Blood stained almost everywhere on his body. The only more bloodstained one could’ve been Fredbear’s mouth.

As for me; my dress was bloodstained. I was way too close to the scene. maybe I’m to blame myself? Evan kept screaming for my name. He asked for help. I was hitting Micheal a lot. Maybe that caused Evan more squirming and tears than usual.

Evan…

Evan. We were supposed to be together forever. You only kissed me a few days ago.

You’re making it out alive…right Evan?

The doctors come out.

They were crying and their gloves stained red just like the rest of us.

So much blood.

They looked at Mr. Afton.

He started desperately crying.

He pushed passed everyone and opened the door. Micheal followed behind weakly. So did I.

All I heard in that room was a never-ending sound. Monotoned, unshifting.

Mrs. Afton and his older sister Elizabeth ran in soon enough. They were the only clean ones. We all looked at them, his blood being somewhere on us.

Mrs. Afton was bawling not a moment later. Elizabeth looked about ready to but just couldn’t.

I was ushered out first.

I didn’t even get to say goodbye..

This is so fucking unfair.

I want to break something. Rip it apart.

I don’t feel anything but..anger.

I guess you won’t be coming to school tomorrow huh Evan?

I don’t know what to do Evan…my tears sting.

Please come back..

Please come back.

Please..please just come back to me Evan.

I can’t do this alone. I have nobody like you.

Nobody..

What comes next? This is all a bad dream right?

I’ll see you at school tomorrow right? When I wake up?  I can even come home with you tomorrow right?

I see Elizabeth walk up to me. She hugs me. I hug her back. She looks like a part of her is missing.

Nevermind….you must not be going home Evan.

I hear yelling, incoherent yelling from the room Evan lies in.

Micheal and Elizabeth take me home.

Gabriel meets me at the door. He looks surprised and scared from all the blood.

Oh well.

Tomorrow…. Never mind, I don’t even want to finish that sentence.

Come back Evan. I demand it. I’ll find you again somehow
