Chapter Text
Once upon a time, a princess fell in love with the sun.
From that love, a prince made of sunlight was born.
His hair glistened as if it were woven from stray sunbeams.
His eyes sparkled like the morning sun against dewey grass.
His heart glowed as if it were a little piece from the sun itself, so full of love for everything its light touched.
Though he was born during a bitter snowstorm, the prince melted all the snow around the princess’ castle with his first smile.
At first, the princess loved her baby, as he was proof that the sun must have loved her back.
This love for her son fueled his heart, making it glow ever brighter.
But that wasn’t enough for the princess, for she still longed for the sun.
Yet no matter how many times she called out for her love to see their beautiful son, he refused to appear, hiding himself behind the clouds.
Saddened that the sun wouldn’t appear, the princess took the prince to the highest mountain peak in hopes that her love would come.
Every day she would hold him out towards the sky in hopes that his father would see him and remember the love she knew they once shared.
She was overjoyed when the sun finally came out from behind the clouds.
He denied knowing the princess and told her that her child was not his.
After that, the sun locked himself behind the clouds again.
It was then she began to hate the sunshine prince and cursed his birth.
The princess ripped his heart out of his chest and buried it deep in the snow.
Ice and snow consumed his heart, sealing away all his love and joy.
Without his heart, the prince no longer had the powers of the sun, so the snowy mountain swallowed him whole.
They say to this day, the lonely prince still waits at that mountain top, waiting for someone to find his heart and bring it back to him.
