Work Text:

Wolf wasn't a child, nor a teenager or an adult. She was just a survivor. Her life had always been full of violence, pain and loss.

She never got to enjoy being a child. She never got to start kindergarten. Never got endless cuddles from her parents. Never got served a warm meal multiple times a day. Never got to play with toys. Never got to make friends. Never got to just live.

Wolf was afraid of letting go and be the child that she should have been. Being a child meant that she was weak and an easy target.

Being a survivor was the only way to live. It was all that Wolf ever knew. But still, she was tired. Tired of fighting. Tired of being scared. Tired of acting tough when she really just wanted to be protected. Tired of never being able to sit down and just be.

But she didn't really have a choice. She never did.

Wolf wished that everything could have been different. That she could have lived in a world where she didn't have to sigh of relief when she made it to the end of the day.

Maybe in another universe, she could have gotten to be the child that she never was. One day, maybe she could finally be freed and be something else than just a survivor.
