Work Text:
Wolf was asleep in Song's arms, her hands clutching the top of Song's pajamas. Teartracks covered her puffy cheeks and Song wiped then away with a wet wipe.
She was rocking back and forth on the edge of the bed like she had been doing for the last ten minutes.
Wolf had woken her up in the middle of the night because of yet another nightmare. They were normal in the Oak household but it never got any less heartbreaking when one of the children would wake up, shaking from fear and the sobs racking through their little bodies.
Song had yet to figure out what Wolf's nightmare was about, but she didn't find it as important as keeping her youngest calm. She rubbed Wolf's back in circles, easing the tension.
Kissing her daughter's forehead, she could feel Wolf relaxing against her as she finally fully closed her eyes and fell back asleep.
"I love you", Song whispered softly, hoping that some part of Wolf heard her words.
She would never stop letting her daughter know just how loved she was.
