Katsuki fumbles with his collection of keys, the sound of them jangling filling the silence. He yawns and blinks in an attempt to keep himself awake. Almost there he reassures himself , Almost there. He can't wait to just crash and sleep for thirty-seven hours straight.
He pushes the door open to find his partner sleeping, small snores escaping their lips as a sign of life. Their talons clinging on to the base of the roof like a lifeline, the maroon flaps of their wings wrapped around their body.
Katsuki edges the door behind him to a close with a soft thud as he places his house keys in a small ocean-themed hanger. He saunters over to them, brushing the locks of hair that cascaded themselves to the floor away from their face.
His partner rustles against their wings, a guttural sound escaping their throat as she flutters an eye open.
“Yeah, Hon?" Y/N asks, their sentences cut short through a series of yawns. "Did you need something?”.
“Nah, nothin' at all, babe." Katsuki replied, leading his head forward to rest a small kiss against their forehead. "Go back to sleep, I'll handle dinner.".
Katsuki makes his way towards the nursery, the yellows of the walls illuminated by the sunset's light. He walks to crib, mumbling out incoherent hellos to the supposed napping twins, silent.
Katsuki allows a yawn to release from his lips as his hand rummage trough the crib in search for two small babies.
Nothing.
Perhaps it the glare of the sun from the window or the fact that he's been up doing paperwork for the past sixteen hours. His hand feel out for the chord of the blinds before tugging it, hard. He rubbed his eyes and lets his eyes drift towards the center of the crib.
Still nothing.
Now, he’s awake.
Katsuki staggers away from the crib, adrenaline coursing through his body. His body moves faster than his mind and he find himself tearing apart the house to find his kids. Scouring ever nook and cranny, lifting furniture with a strength he did know was possible.
"Babe, Babe, Wake up." He calls out, rushing to Y/N and shaking their body. "The Twins aren't here!".
“What?" Y/N questions, pressing their eyes to her fist to awaken themselves. "What's going on?".
“The Twins aren't in the house, they aren't here!" He reiterates, feeling his chest tightening. He swears, these two troublemakers are taking years off of his life by the second.
"What are you talking about? They're right here." Y/N states, cocking their head at him as though he was the weirdest person to have ever existed.
He is but that isn't the point.
“No, they're not, they're gone!" Katsuki tells them, feeling his back and chest press against each other with his anxiousness. "Let's go, we gotta find them!"
“No, I'm being serious. They're right here. Look" They repeats, unfolding their wings to reveal the sight: A pair of tiny babies strapped to their carrier as they dangled upside down in slumber.
“See, They're right here. There's nothing to worry about." His partner reassured to him, placing a small peck on the heads of the twins as they tussled what little hair on their heads.
Katsuki huffed out a sigh of relief, his hand flying to tussle his own hair on his head.
His partner shot him a small smile as their head lopsided to the side, eliciting a breathy chuckle from him.
“Are you one hundred percent sure that this is safe?” Katsuki asked, placing his finger in front of his daughter, who grabs a tight hold onto it.
"Well, My ma held me like this over an open an open kitchen fire, feeding me yogurt from a Tupperware, and I turned out fine." Y/N recalls, their eyes darting to the corner as they remember that memory with fondness. "I'm pretty sure my kids can handle a little bit of blood flow to their brain.".
“Christ, I need a nap." Katsuki says with breath laugher.
