Minji would always find Yoohyeon, her lover, staring at her at random times. Like literally, at random times. It would usually happen when they're outdoors hanging out with their friends, Minji sharing whatever comes to mind and when she looks to her side, she would find her lover staring at her with those same eyes she fell in love with the first time they met.
And because of how she loves her lover’s eyes so much, she stares back with the same intent and fervent. They would always get lost in each other’s eyes and the world around them also would always disappear, as if it's only the two of them existing in this very world we live in.
Minji would always be the one to get back to reality first, would always be the one to ask, “Why, is there something that you need, my love?”, would always be the one to lean in for a soft peck on her lover’s lips before hearing her lover chuckle in response.
“Just because,” would always be her lover’s response every time. Minji is always curious why her lover would always do this but she lets her be because it's heartwarming that even if they've been together for 8 years, 2 as engaged, nothing has ever changed between them.
Yoohyeon would always be lovesick when it comes to her, as if they're still teenagers learning everything about being in a relationship and sharing intimate and romantic moments with her lover.
Minji really loves her lover’s “just because,” moments because it makes her feel so loved, feel so special, and feel so precious for someone who she feels all the same as well.
Today is a very special day for both of them. It's finally their wedding day. 10 years in the making, finally, they're able to say their vows to each other, promising to one another to have each other as their own first and last love.
Now that they're at the after party with their friends, celebrating this one in a lifetime experience, Minji finds her lover staring at her once again. She smiles softly at Yoohyeon before leaning in to press a kiss on her forehead.
Moving back to look at her wife, oh god how she loves calling Yoohyeon her wife, Minji chuckles at how cute her pout looks like.
“Why’d you kiss me there instead of here?” Yoohyeon asks as she points to her pouting lips, her eyes starting to look like puppy eyes to persuade Minji into giving her what she wants like she always does (it works, every single damn time).
“Just because,” Minji responds as she chuckles again, her smile reaching her eyes which makes Yoohyeon follow her wife’s actions as well. “This is how you do it, no? ‘Just because?’”
Yoohyeon gives up with her advances but instead lifts Minji out of nowhere, surprising their friends that were partying around them. She spins them around, staring at one another as they once again get lost in each other’s eyes.
“Hyeon! What's with you carrying me all of a sudden?” Minji asks as she presses herself closer to Yoohyeon so she could hold her better, keeping herself balanced. Not that she was scared of falling, which she's sure Yoohyeon will catch her, she just wanted to be this close with her wife at this very moment.
She placed her hands over her lover’s chest, close to her heart so she could feel how Yoohyeon’s heart is beating the same rhythm as hers, just like how it has always been for the past 10 years. She lays her head there as well, feels so ever comforted by the fact that she’ll be able to feel this every single day for the rest of her life without anyone or anything stopping her from doing so.
“Just because.” Yoohyeon finally responds before putting Minji down, engulfing her wife in a warm embrace as she slowly sways the both of them to the song that's currently playing.
Alldaylong.
Their first song.
“You always wonder why I stare at you at such random times, right?” Yoohyeon places one of her hands on Minji’s head, fingers sliding up and down through her luscious locks. She presses a kiss as well on the top of her head, patiently waiting for her wife to respond to her lingering question.
Minji heaves in a deep breath, feeling so relaxed in such loving arms, “Yeah, I always do wonder about it. Every time I ask, you would always answer ‘just because’, I mean, how would I be able to understand what you want and need?”
“I want and need nothing but you, my love,” Yoohyeon says with such a voice that soothes Minji’s lovesick heart. “I usually just stare at you and wonder, ‘Wow, how am I so lucky to have a lover that I love as much like you?’”
Minji looks up and finds Yoohyeon staring at her again like she always does. “Like this? At moments like this?”
“I find myself staring at you at any time, my darling, because I love you so much that you always get me wondering about how I got someone like you whom I want to spend the rest of my life with. You're a wonderful miracle to my life, Minji, and I’m always so thankful that you're with me and I’m with you. All the time, for the rest of our lives.”
Yoohyeon feels a soft pair of lips on hers, her eyes automatically closing to fully grasp and enjoy this moment and the thousands of moments like this to come. She kisses back with the same intent and fervent, her arms coming down to hold Minji by her waist and pulling her closer.
Minji smiles as they kiss, fulfilling what her wife had wanted earlier. A kiss to her lips, a proper one, their first one as wives.
The people around them cheer and scream at the couple as they share an intimate kiss as wives.
This is just one of many ‘just because’ moments Minji will have with her wife. They both have all the time in their lives to make more memories and to share more ‘just because’ moments.
Minji will never get enough of Yoohyeon staring at her whenever and telling her ‘just because’ when she asks why. It has become a thing for them, something only the two of them will share.
It's just how Yoohyeon expresses her love for her wife, and Minji respects and appreciates every single time this happens. She will forever treasure these ‘just because’ moments they have together.
Other may ask, why ‘just because’?
“Just because,” would Minji respond to this question. Because there is no explanation as to why this has become their thing. Because words are not enough to express how much they love one another. And Minji understands all the reason why Yoohyeon would always respond with this.
Because this is how she shows her love and appreciation for her. Because this is how important she is to her. Hundreds and thousands of words, none will be able to equal to what they feel for one another.
“Why do you love me so much, my love?”
“Just because, my darling. Just because.”
